    Updated Lunch Special Hours
    Joyce F.

Came in for their lunch special. They still have til 3pm in Yelp. I arrived a little past 2. I requested them to update their hours on Yelp. I ended up ordering from regular menu. Got shrimp Pad Thai, 9/10 and Beef with Broccoli, 7/10. Also got Thai Iced Tea, 10/10. They had everything done in few minutes. The ladies are all nice and greet you soon you come in. Lots of parking in the area. The place is clean with homey atmosphere.

My first time and we got take out last weekend and I know I'm already going back this weekend. Really good Thai food with excellent flavors. We had it for the first time last weekend and I already want more. Like other reviews have mentioned, this is more of a take out place with a few small tables. The kitchen is open air so you can see the Chef cooking up your food nice and fresh. I called my order in and it was ready in the time they mentioned. Everything was great! Delicious. My favorite part of this place is they can substitute fish fillet for all of their dishes! Including the curries! And they can accommodate food allergies based on the menu. Highly recommend the spicy fish (makrut lime leaves! So good!!) and spicy fried rice (so gooood). We did medium spice but next time we are going to try "spicy." Looking forward to being a regular!

No wonder there's a line for lunch. Their portions are ginormous. And the flavors were popping. I'm not a huge fan of Thai food because most restaurants blandify their food. This one is an exception. Not pictured is the short ribs, which were piled on like a mountain and could probably feed 5 hungry adults. The same can be said of the other dishes we ordered. The drunken noodles were properly spiced with basil leaves being the most prominent flavor. The calamari stayed crunchy for the whole meal and the papaya salad had that slightly salty, fishy, limey flavor like it's supposed to. We went a bit early and were seated immediately. The interior was pleasant enough, slightly dated. Parking was pretty good. It's not a huge lot but enough spots that it wasn't painful. Recommended but if you're late, expect a wait.

Crispy Pork Gailan and Crab Fried Rice

We love take out from v Original Thai. Initially we weren't too fond of the food but after a few years, we gave it another try. Now we love it! Kids love the chicken satay and chicken pad see ew. Crab fried rice is the absolute favorite for my daughter and I. I've tried cream fried rice at so many That restaurants but nothing hits the spot like the one here. We get it every single time. The pad kee maw is also good but really spicy, even when you order it medium hear. It's not a drunken noodle but similar in texture and taste. The crispy pork gailan is also pretty good. I've had it twice so far. We will definitely be coming back for more crab fried rice!

Originally when to another Thai restaurant but because it was New Year Eve evening, they weren't taking anymore take out orders. So I found this place through Yelp and saw it had a 5 star. This place is a small restaurant and is strictly only for take out orders . There is no place for dine in seating. Some would say this is a hole in the wall place, which we all know ends up being the best place to get food. There were two ladies working and one took my order and which was chicken pad thai, two orders of chicken fried rice, two orders of chicken satay and one order of chicken pad see ew for my niece who specifically wanted this entree. I mentioned to them that she has a seafood allergy, therefore cannot have oyster sauce or fish sauce in the ingredients. The lady told me that no problem and she would use something else. Needless to say, my niece said it was the best pad see ew she has had. All of the other items that I ordered were very tasty and cooked fresh. I was really impressed and will definitely come back again. Also, if you check in on Yelp, you get a free thai tea drink. Both ladies working were very nice and if you are looking for some good thai food, I highly recommend this place.

Pad Thai Chicken and fried tofu with dipping sauce. Delicious!

We were immediately sat when we arrived around 6pm but most tables were filled. Service was good and the food arrived pretty fast! We ordered the tom yum gai, crab fried rice, pad thai, and calamari. The tom yum gai is perfect for someone with a scratchy throat from allergies because it cleared them up! It had a good amount of sourness to it. Calamari was perfectly crispy and not too chewy. Crab fried rice was abundant so we needed 2 to go boxes. Pad Thai was delicious. Definitely a place where you should share your dishes with friends and family or be prepared to take to go boxes because of the amount that's on the plate. I'd definitely come back!

Thai Original BBQ, Cerritos -- I am awash with nostalgia whenever I visit the Artesia/Cerritos area…read more-- home to a vibrant Filipino community, and where I lived on-and-off for nearly a decade. It's here that I welcomed the familiar comfort foods from home, and I'm in one of my favorite restaurants: Thai Original BBQ. Its name says Thai, but over time its food has evolved to skew subtly toward a Filipino palate that balances sweet, sour, salty, umami flavors, with a mild level of spice. I wondered: how far has it veered off Thai Town's flavor baseline? Entering the place is like getting into a time capsule -- its décor is exactly the same as when I first ate here 41 years ago. The long saltwater aquarium is still there, as are the same red vinyl cushioned booths. But the carpeting is noticeably threadbare, and the starched white table linens are long gone, revealing washed-out Formica. Thai Original BBQ is known for its single-plate meals featuring proteins and vegetables over sweetish rice stir-fried in Nam Prik Pao, resulting in its orange color. Tonight's dinner was our time-tested reliables: the Combination Soup, Satay Dinner, and Chicken Ruby Dinner. The combination soup was served in a fire pot. Its comforting stock is translucent, with no visible scum - packed with umami from the fish sauce and heaped with pieces of chicken, pork, shrimp, and vegetables. So comforting, even on a warm night! The satay dinner consists of eight skewers of thinly sliced flank steak, grilled to perfection, with a sweet-spicy and creamy peanut dipping sauce. And the Chicken Ruby dinner was impressive -- a whole Cornish hen, stuffed with a sausage made from a mixture of pork, rice, and glass noodles, then deep-fried whole. This delectable dish will make the "Colonel" tap out. These dishes are how I remember them -- and they bring back so many fond memories of family get-togethers. Eating here turns every meal into a mindful event. My wife and I hardly spoke to each other while eating - it wasn't being rude at all. The silence came from a quiet joy -- from something familiar, from something comforting. Thai Original BBQ did not veer as far from what we've always welcomed as Thai as I had wondered. In many ways, Thai food is similar to Filipino food: a balance of sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and spicy elements. Fish sauce is foundational to both cuisines, providing saltiness and umami, while coconut juice, palm sugar, and tamarind bring sweetness and sourness. Thai Original BBQ is really a taste of home. Five stars -- no asterisk, no hesitation.

We were seated by the window and we loved it, it provided us with some privacy space to talk our hearts out. It's a Thursday night and the restaurant was not busy at all. I guess a chunk of their regulars are using the takeout services now. We ordered the Tum Yum soup with shrimp, the fried tilapia, the papaya salad, and of course, the must-have mango sticky rice. Everything was ordered mild, but the papaya salad really had a kick to it, so if you are light weight, just ask for non-spicy. We added the black crab to the papaya salad for $1; well, it's a waste, we saw only a few skinny crab legs, you might as well give the dollar as a tip. There are plenty of fresh mushrooms in the Tum Yum soup, and good amount of shrimps. The fried tilapia was delicious! And mango sticky rice was well executed and gone happily into our content stomachs. The servers are very attentive. Will definitely return.

The server didn't provide a printed receipt before asking me to tap my card to pay. I selected an additional 7% tip on the payment terminal. Afterward, I requested a printed receipt and noticed that an automatic 18% gratuity had already been added to my approximately $106 bill. That resulted in nearly a 25% total tip, which I wasn't aware of when I paid. If an automatic gratuity is included, customers should be clearly informed before they're asked to complete payment. I felt misled by the lack of transparency, even though the food itself was good.

The food is sooo flavorful and depending on who makes the Lao style papaya salad (my favorite), it can be on the fishier and more pungent side. But their papaya salad was pretty balanced. Lao style is generally more sour, spicy, and pungent whereas Thai style tends to be sweeter and lighter tasting. Also, if you're not a fan of spice or have a more sensitive stomach, do NOT get medium spice lol. Your stomach might hurt.
