First, the ONLY negatives. The place was freezing cold, and the music playing was so loud that we could not hear one another speak. They do have Gender Neutral Restrooms, which as a woman, I do not prefer. I had my usual avocado from my bag. My hund ordered the Beef Shawarma Combo, which came with fries They have plenty for omnivore, limited options for vegetarians, and as I understand it, only pita and hummus for vegans (and I avoid carbs). Service was excellent!

This spot is a great addition to the variety of restaurants in the strip, right next to the other halal eats. However, there's another shawarma place not far from here on the same side of the road, two lights down. So it's a tad confusing but they said this is owned by Palestine's for sure. I opted for takeout, as the small space was quite packed with a big group of women. The chicken shawarma wrap was quite filling on its own. But the pickles had an unpleasant taste so I had to remove them. Friendly staff, Fresh Food, tons of toppings, you can order a bowl, wrap, pita or baguette with your choice of protein and toppings. I typically try chicken when trying new places and later return to explore other options.

Mixed platter. It's bad.. it's yucky. Don't waste your money

Very very bad food. The chicken feels uncooked and when you eat it.. it feels old and not fresh. Eat home food rather then eat this trash

Alhamdulillah for another great halal addition to Roosevelt Road. I love this spot not just for the Palestinian decor and Muslim-friendly ambience, but food. The portions are legit, prices aren't crazy, and the food tastes fresh. You can see them making it in front of you: no gimmicks. I respect businesses like these! I know the namesake shawarma is the draw, but the Jerusalem Salad and falafel wrap are things of beauty.

Original Shawarma absolutely nailed it. I got the lamb shawarma wrap and honestly it might be the best I've had anywhere. The lamb was super tender, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor in every bite. The wrap was fresh, the toppings were balanced, and the garlic sauce tied everything together perfectly. You can tell they take pride in their food -- it tasted fresh, authentic, and made with care. If you love shawarma or just want a seriously good meal, this spot is a must-try. I'm definitely coming back.

Always Love this place. Great and friendly service. Food is always great. Came around 10pm and place was quiet. There Rice Bowl is always amazing.

I called them because I wasn't sure if the online version would be too slow. We were a group of three that came in Saturday night at 7 pm. It was moderately busy. The staff were all welcoming with smiles on their faces and attentiveness. Prices were fair for the amount of food you receive. Food portions are colossal so I would recommend one appetizer and one entree if you are a couple. They give you a complimentary dish. We ordered arayes with meat, meat toshka, mixed grill with baba ghanouj, fillet of basa fried, and mint lemonade. They also offer you fresh Arabic coffee before you leave. This is about a 4.5-5. -arayes with meat 4 - this was not bad. It's like a tamer version of the meat toshka. -meat toshka 5 - I prefer this over the arayes because they add the Syrian cheese. This one was bursting with flavor the moment you took a bite out of it. The minced beef and lamb just melt in the mouth. -mixed grill 5 - this came with 3 big skewers (shish kabab, kufta kabab, and chicken tawook. It also has tomatoes and onions to help cut down the meat when digesting. There are two heaping portions of biryani and saffron rice and baba ghanouj. The baba ghanouj was creamy and flavorful. It goes well with the pita bread. The meats were cooked medium well unless you want something. I think next time I'll ask for the shish kababs to be cooked medium rare or medium for a more juicy taste. The chicken tawook and kufta were both succulent. -fillet of basa fried 5 - the two pieces of basa fillet were astronomical. It also comes with two different kinds of rice. The fish was flaky, moist, and seasoned. Make sure you add the lemon and eat it with the sauce. -mint lemonade 5 - this was very refreshing after eating a heavy meal.

The place is very busy so parking can be a bit hard to find but they do have an overflow lot. Inside, they have a seating area where you can wait until you're seated at a table. Both times I've been there the wait time was around 20-30 minutes but trust me, the food is worth the wait. Even though they were busy, our server was attentive and the food didn't take too long to come out. I went with a group and for our appetizer we tried the platter that comes with hummus, baba ganoush, grape leaves, and fresh pita bread. For my drink, I had the lemon mint smoothie...very refreshing. The plates that my husband and I got were the chicken shawarma sandwich with a salad and the filet plate that comes with rice as well as grilled tomato and grilled onion. They give you generous portions which made it possible for me to share some of my meal with someone in my group to try and I still had leftovers. Finally, we could not leave without having dessert. We had knafeh which is made fresh. Everything was amazing and I can't wait to come back next time I visit the Chicagoland area.

You don't need to go anywhere else for a very high end meal- it's here and very economical! All the food is halal, cooked fresh, generously portioned and full of traditional middle eastern flavors beyond what we imagined. The lamb- where do I begin? It was perfectly seasoned, as tender and delicious and the BEST IN THE AREA! We haven't had lamb this good since we left Greece. 10 stars! We also ordered falafel's that were crispy on the outside, perfectly sized and not a bit oily. Not overly seasoned and served piping hot! All the sauces; toum, tahini and the red sauce had their own authentic flavors. The red sauce was a wonderful blend of mint, cilantro, fresh ground tomato and herbs that gives additional flavor to the already excellent tender melt in your mouth lamb. I've since visited the Niles location several times. The food has always been consistently excellent, but unfortunately the service has never matched the quality of the kitchen. Today's visit was by far the worst. It took over 10 minutes for our server to come to the table to take our order. Throughout the meal, I had to repeatedly flag her down whenever we needed something. To make matters worse, she seemed to disappear halfway through dinner--I'm assuming she clocked out--because we had to get another server's attention just to receive basic assistance. The food, however, was fantastic. I ordered the Al Bawadi Seafood Mixed Grill, and it absolutely delivered. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. That's what makes this so frustrating. This restaurant serves some of the best Middle Eastern food in the area, but when you're paying premium prices, you expect service that matches the quality of the food. I still recommend the food without hesitation, but the consistently poor service at the Niles location is making it harder to justify returning.

Our server was so kind and never let us make the mistake of ordering the wrong thing. She gave us her recommendations every step of the way and every single one was perfect. What we got: Mint lemonade: 5/5. SO refreshing and delicious. Perfect sweetness and the little bit of pulp you get is great. I only wish there was more of it! Chicken arayes: 4.5/5. Crispy, cheesy, garlicky. Need I say more? Get some extra garlic on the side if you wanna take it up a notch. Fried halloumi: 4/5. These are like a soft mozzarella stick, so tasty. Definitely eat the pickles with them. Lamb chops: 4.5/5. 4 tender lamb chops seasoned beautifully. Definitely recommend the red rice over the yellow if you can handle a little bit of heat. Kanafeh: 5/5. Whoever thought that cheese, sweet syrup, phyllo, and pistachios would go together is a genius. Definitely don't leave without getting this dessert. The salt of the cheese perfectly balances out the sweetness. No notes! And get some peppermint tea to go with it too. And the portion sizes are huge! Definitely get your money's worth here. My only issue is this place is right by my job so now I'm gonna go broke getting food here all the time. But that's a problem I'd love to have!

We came on a Saturday night around 7 pm and we were able to find parking immediately. To be clear, the parking area is kind of tight and cramped. If you can't find parking here, you can try seeing if parking is available in the neighborhood or next door. Inside Al Manakeesh, they have a plentiful amount of tables. You order at the front, receive a pager, and wait for your food. They have additional drinks in the back. They are known for making Middle Eastern flatbread pizzas and kaaks (bagel). Customer service was great. They were very efficient at making the food and drinks. Everyone was nice. No one was pushy when we ordered our items. Prices were good, they were inexpensive. We ordered egg/meat/cheese, pepperoni, mixed meat bagel, sfeha with tahaina, and zaatar/akkawi cheese/cherry tomato. Honestly, everything was a 5/5. I liked that the pizzas weren't floppy and none of the ingredients slid off. The portions were huge. I also got a peach matcha. After mixing it, the peach taste was very noticeable: -The pepperoni tastes cleaner and more flavorful than the American places. For some reason, the American ones are so greasy and oily. -For the egg/meat/cheese pizza, the egg taste really stands out. -Sfeha is halal ground beef and has more flavor than regular ground beef. The tahaina helps make it pop. -The zaatar/akkawi/cherry tomato is an awesome combination. When you take that first bite, you'll immediately taste all of the ingredients. It's that prominent. -The mixed meat kaak has halal turkey, halal roast beef, halal salami, mozzarella, Mexican cheese, and their signature sauce. They give you two cups of sauces. One I think is the signature sauce and the red one is a little spicy. The portion is big enough to share between 3-4 people.

However, my last review of this place was over four years ago, so I thought it was about time to update this. I still give it a solid four stars because this place is key and king on consistency. If there's one thing you can rely on here is that that same recipe from 10 years ago or 30 years ago is still the same good recipe today. And that is absolutely fantastic. I do believe the portions have gotten slightly smaller over the years and obviously prices have gone up, but this is to be expected. The only downfall of this location is that they never take reservations that if you come during peak hours, you better expect to wait even over and up to an hour. Something else that I've seen really evolved at this place is that when they originally first opened, including the Greektown location, all servers, including bus, boys, etc., were all Greek that has definitely changed now over the years The parking lot here is still very generous however during peak times beware it will be hard to find the parking space and there is no valet.
