I'm still amazed at their efficiency over the years. OHOP is like a well oiled machine that just... works and they clearly have their system down. We came here today (Saturday) @ 10am. We were seated pretty quickly, but the true magic came when we were seated - despite every table seated and a crowd of people waiting outside. Our server Verenice was amazing. She was super attentive/ quick, friendly and even did something a lot of servers miss (spotted an incorrect plate and had it sent back and redone immediately before even bringing it out to us). 10/10 service from her. Additionally, I think this is fairly obvious (by the wait times) but the pancakes are amazing. There's a reason why people keep coming here and it's always crowded. Must try place if you've never been. read more

Birthday breakfast is a tradition in our family, so we came to The Original Pancake House in Redondo Beach to celebrate my husband's birthday. We got there around 9 and, thankfully, didn't have much of a wait before being seated. The place was semi packed but well lit and noise level was tolerable for our baby. I ordered soft scrambled eggs with hash browns and bacon. I'm VERY particular about my eggs because most places hear "soft scrambled" and still somehow serve them overcooked. They got mine right the first time! Soft just like I asked, crispy hash browns on the side, and good bacon. Simple breakfast, but exactly what I wanted. My husband went a little bigger and ordered the Apple Pancake, which is oven-baked with fresh apples and a cinnamon glaze. When they brought it out, it looked GOOD. Unfortunately, after a couple bites, he realized it wasn't for him. It had a really eggy taste that took over the pancake and cinnamon flavor. Our waitress was super sweet about it and offered to switch it out for French toast. Much better choice for him. He really enjoyed that. We also had regular pancakes at the table, and of course we had to do a birthday pancake with chocolate chips, whipped cream, and a candle. Gotta keep the tradition going! Overall, we had a really nice birthday breakfast. What stood out most was the service. They got my picky egg order right and when my husband didn't care for his meal, there was no issue getting him something he actually enjoyed. We'll definitely be back. read more

The food and service is extra good. I like the place because it's noisy and the tables move around for modular arrangements. The noise makes it more private for me at least. I've been going here since my last review 2 to 3 times a week. Today there was a hiccup, I sat down, with the hostess allowing me to go to an open table. Then 15 minutes or more pass and finally when the manager walked by I told her that nobody came to take my order. She told me the coffee is on me. It was so noisy I thought she said it's on me, I'm like wow that's too good. I went to the register and told the manager I left the tip in cash. As I went out the front door I was listening for any reaction in case I misunderstood (and of course I had, Murphy's law). I heard Sir you haven't paid - quite embarrassed I gave her my credit card - really embarrassing - I guess my gut reaction was that a free cup of coffee wasn't much of an apology , but a comped breakfast was expecting way too much. Freudian slip on my part. Just note that at the Good Stuff down the road and across the street I've accumulated a lot of free food credits - a lot. And they don't address people as Sir there especially when you frequent them- they are more personal- you should check this out if you haven't already- the public parking though can set you back bc it adds up - it's $2 an hour at the meter. read more

It's tradition that I get my child a breakfast meal to go and usually order online! Today I tried to order and the online system is down so it says on the website that to call. I called to place an order and the man on the phone just keep on blabbering that they don't take orders via phone because it a weekend! He won't even let me talk and explain! So I have to just push it & I explained to him that the website is down and it says to call to place orders! I added it's My child's birthday and I want to surprise him again this morning with his favorite pancakes but this guy just ruined our morning! We don't want to come in coz it more comfy at home and don't want to wait 1 hour to be seated! Thanks for bad customer service! Get it together! Hire better staff!Be organized ! read more

Original Pancake House - Doesn't say to call and order? It didn't say weekdays or weekends? - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Redondo Beach, California

Being an Anaheim resident, I live literally next to the OG Original Pancake House that the original owners I believe moved to after they opened the initial one. I always saw lines in front in the mornings and still do.. the quality there is as good as it is in other locations if not better, but this location was great as well! Amazing food, amazing service, and a very packed atmosphere for breakfast. Would come here again any day for breakfast just to try a few other things in the menu like the Eggs Michael. I had the corned beef which was delicious, I cleaned my plate fully which is rare, but I was also quite hungry... and ate extra pancakes from a friend! They got a 2x4, bacon and eggs, and pancakes. But next time I think I know what I may get just to try things out! Basically, you can't go wrong with anything they got. 10s across the board. read more

First time here and it was the bomb. Tried a Dutch pancake for the first time. It was interesting to say the least. I'm neutral on it. it was something new and different for my taste buds. I can not really say if it was good or bad. I'll have to try to it again someday. Potatoes were good. A lil onion and fried. I love crunchy foods. The eggs were pretty darn good too. Big servings. Coffee was good and the water was really really good. It was refreshing. Service was quick. Wait time to be seated was like 60 seconds. Seating is a little tight because this place is packed. No biggie. Wasn't too pricey. Now let me tell you about these pancakes. Beyond delicious. Hands down my current favorite pancake out there in the world right now. I know where I'm going when I want a pancake. Thank you OG Pancake House for an awesome first impression. You have a great staff from front to back. Kudos!!! read more

Got the Bacon & Eggs and a cup of coffee. Good breakfast. Large quality strips of bacon. Eggs were well cooked. They provide you with a dispenser that contains warm syrup. The pancakes were tasty and had a nice texture. Nice medium roast coffee. I requested 1/2 bacon and 1/2 sausage for my order. However, the waiter told me that was not possible. The tables were fairly close to each other so it does get very loud. Service was prompt. They have a large parking lot so no issues with parking. read more

The french toast was good. Wasn't too eggy. Omelette was nice and fluffy. Would get these last 2 again. Service was good. Food came quickly. Overall 3.5 read more

My wife and I have been going to the Original Pancake House for years. It is always a perfect choice when choosing to go out for breakfast. Surprisingly, since having kids, we've only taken them here a couple of times. And this last time, a week ago, was just as good as the first time we went. Service is always quick and friendly (even if there's a little wait for a table on busy Saturday and Sunday mornings) and the food is consistently fantastic. The wife and I shared the Eggs Benedict ($20.95) served with potato latkes (pancakes) and their version is really one of the best. Oftentimes at other breakfast places, the Hollandaise Sauce, which can make or break a perfectly good poached egg atop circles of Canadian Bacon and English Muffin, just isn't up to snuff. But not here at the OPH. Theirs has a slight lemony richness that is just near perfect. And those latkes are thin, slightly crispy and served the good 'ol Jewish way with apple sauce and sour cream. These suckers aren't your Nana's potato pancakes; they're amazing. The $20.95 pricetag has increased over the years but since we shared (and it was enough to do so), I was fine with it. The kids both ordered pancakes as if they believed they had no other choice at THE ORIGINAL PANCAKE HOUSE even though I kept telling at least one of them to order the Apple Pancake or Dutch Baby. But they chose simplicity instead and thoroughly enjoyed theirs, one with pineapple and coconut (the kids' Hawaiian for $9.95) and the other with bananas ($9.95). They also ordered a side of bacon ($7.99) and turkey sausage ($7.50)...and I was glad they got the kids portion which was absolutely plenty with ample left over to take home. The total for the four of us for breakfast came to $78.65 with tip which is a far cry from what the two of us paid back in 2001 when we had moved to Redondo but this is the world in which we live these days and it doesn't look like there's any turning back. I certainly wouldn't deduct a star because of this. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND for a yummy, fun breakfast outing every once in awhile. read more

Parking here is hit or miss. And you can look forward to a wait since this place is always packed especially weekends. But that's a good thing, right? Means the food is good. I like the breakfast here. For being so busy I'd say the staff here have it organized and moving quickly. The waiters and bussers are very attentive and we were surprised how quickly our food came after ordering. The price can be a little steep here but the portions are huge so if you like sharing I'd suggest it, unless you can eat 6 pancakes on your own, more power to you. Today I shared the banana pancakes with kids and ordered sides of eggs and sausages. Coffee and water and we were stuffed by the time we left. The busser came around about 4 times to t try and refill my cup of coffee which was nice but kindly declined after the first refill since I didn't want to leave a jitter bug with caffeine overdose lol. However I really like how well the staff pays attention to the customers here. Highly recommendable breakfast diner. read more

I decided to change my regular meal here and have the Kosher salami with eggs. It's a pretty large meal, especially with the (half order) of potato pancakes and applesauce added. To be frank, I barely finished it. The service was very good and attentive. My coffee cup got topped off, it seemed, after a single sip. The restaurant was clean, always, well lighted and appropriately decorated. Thanks for another nice meal. read more

Outstanding pancakes. A slight crispy edge, fluffy and not rubbery like typical diner pancakes. I was in Manhattan Beach eating at an old spot with the word Pancake in their name and the pancakes were so bad, I had to come here to reset my taste buds to a decent pancake. Great time at Original Pancake House. This was my first time back here in a very long time and it did not disappoint. Our waiter Isidro was extremely nice the whole time. He continuously came back to our table and asked if we needed refill on coffee or water. Very friendly. Our food was delicious and a great portion size. The wait time was also very minimal. The standard western omelette comes with 3 buttermilk pancakes which I had upgraded to sourdough pancakes. All of which were very good. First time coming here, I was craving pancakes so decided to give this place a try. Service could have been better. The lady that was taking our order took my and my boyfriend's drink order then didn't even finish with us when turned and started taking the food order of the family next to us. As she was getting ready to leave I had to remind her to take my kids drink orders too. She was very distracted. My son ordered orange juice with ice and she brought ice on the side then later came and filled it up with water and said she forgot he had gotten his ice on the side. Also, my boyfriend ordered the dollar pancakes. Aren't they supposed to be 12 smaller ones? Well she first brought him a regular plate of 3 buttermilk pancakes , he corrected her, she checked the receipt and went back to get his order straightened out but brought him his place with 6 medium-ish pancakes... I'm confused. My boyfriend decided to just not tell her anything and keep them. I got the Dutch baby and wasn't a fan.. was too much egg for my liking. The pancakes were okay. I really liked my scrambled eggs and bacon tho! Orange juice was great too, did taste freshly squeezed! Was great for a first and only time coming here or maybe next time I'll try a different plate. Came in on a Sunday morning at 9, wait was only 15min. But as we were leaving it was more packed with families outside waiting to be seated. So come early! Ambiance was okay, reminded me a lot of ihop. read more

Our server was Maria and she took great care of us. Our water/coffee were constantly refilled. She came by a few times to check up on us. We got the strawberry pancakes, Dutch Baby, Eggs Michael and Eggs Benedict. All were good! The canadian bacon on the Benedict tasted a bit off to me when I tried it, but my daughter said she liked it. Potato pancakes were nice. My son put ketchup on it lol. Coffee definitely had lots of flavor, brewed superbly, not sour but full-bodied. We'll definitely go back. Spent $97 for four meals and 2 coffee. read more

We visited the restaurant on Sunday, April 19th with my entire family. We had a party of 16 and upon arrival, we were greeted by the host abd who I assume is the manager Victor. Victor went above and beyond to help my family and I with getting seated and making sure we had a great experience. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, not one item we ordered was missing or not placed correctly. I highly recommend the Dutch baby pancakes, the corned beef hash 10/10, the pigs in a blanket very simple but delicious. I highly recommend this establishment. Victor and the crew, 10/10. read more

The outside decor keeps its obviously nostalgic feel for people of Torrance. The inside is newly remodeled, clean and very present day. The staff was extremely friendly, it almost seemed overstaffed as our table was set coffee filled and order taken within 2 minutes of sitting down. I ordered the corn beef hash with potato pancakes. It was tasty and moist. Usually the curse of corn beef is dry due to prolonged steam table storage. This was very good with a nice ratio of beef and potato. The pecan banana pancakes were excellent as well. For families I would recommend ordering a meal and just sharing. One breakfast entree can fill a parent and probably two small kids. read more

A classic south bay staple. Everything here is good, I usually get an omelette with a side of specialty pancakes. On the weekends it does get pretty busy, and I selfishly wish this place was open longer. Sometimes I wake up hungover and want pancakes at 2pm but that's when they close! Most of the servers are very kind, one of the cashier people has a pretty snappy attitude sometimes though. We did also let our server know about an allergy but the kitchen still included that item in the dish, maybe the prep area isn't as organized as it should be. Overall great place! read more

My "Soul Tie" decided to treat me to breakfast on December 19th, 2025 at this location. We found a parking spot upon a customer just leaving. The place was jammed packed but not to the point of uncomfortability. This location in my opinion pampers their customers. My friend and I was greeted and given service by Jefani and Mauricio. From the time we sat down Mauricio was right there to take our order for drinks. He not only poured coffee for my friend but was right there to refill it without her needing to call him over. These staff members go above and beyond to cater to their customers. I've never seen this type of service before and in a crowded restaurant at that!!! The music they played was at perfect volume. Jefani is the one that took our order. Good looking, pleasant and professional. Any questions we had concerning our order she answered. I had never been to a location like this so I went with the apple pancakes, scrambled eggs and turkey sausage with a grapefruit juice. I was very impressed that they served grapefruit juice as that isn't an option at most locations. It was very good. When my apple pancakes were brought out, I wasn't sure what I was seeing. In my opinion it was way too much topping for a pancake. Honestly it was more like an odd tasting apple pie than breakfast. I didn't care for it and regretted my order but went ahead and gave the eggs and sausage a try. They were perfect and on the money. My friend who ordered a waffle was happy with it but wasn't too thrilled at the fact that it was a thin buttermilk styled waffle and not the traditional american style. My pancake on the other hand taste soggy and weighed down. It even a hard overly crispy ring around it that was hard to cut through with a fork. I just couldn't with that pancake. I was going to take it as a loss. What happened when we decided to leave is what helped my decision to return. Patty who process the orders, greeted us in warm friendly manner. She even asked if we enjoyed our food. I was going to shrug it off as a loss. My friend spoke up and shared her concern about the way my pancake tasted (she gave it a try herself) and described to Patty what and why we didn't care for it and also that we didn't finish it after a couple of bites. Patty apologized sincerely for the experience and removed the pancake from the order. I was beyond shocked. That helped me to see that this location care deeply about customer service. I was beyond impressed. I want to give this location another try. I just hope I can talk my "Soul Tie" into returning or I'll just ask my husband who would be a first time customer. read more

I'm all about praising great customer service, and that is exactly what we got from Sofia! This was my first time at OPH, and we were stuck between a few menu choices. We completely trusted her with our pancake order which was a pecan pancake made with banana batter, topped with fresh strawberries and bananas, plus their house-made strawberry jam. It was incredible! I also recommend trying the sourdough and potato pancakes for their amazing texture. The mushroom omelette was good, but honestly, the pancakes stole the show. They are called Pancake House for a reason. This was definitely worth the 30min wait (Sunday morning rush). Good food, but feels overpriced for diner-style food. Got the chocolate chip pancakes a "two by four" with blueberry pancakes, and the bacon and eggs, which comes with buttermilk pancakes. I've always had a good experience about this place whenever I go and get takeout or dine in except today's experience was really disappointing and discouraging. I genuinely wish they did DoorDash delivery on weekends, since this is the only breakfast/brunch spot I will get up on weekend mornings to get takeout from. I went there today to get takeout and I was told by the older white woman at the register that they don't do takeout after 8:30am on the weekends which is weird because I was just there two weeks ago to get takeout in the morning around the same time I went today 10-11 on a weekend. She was dismissive and didn't even let me finish talking, I wanted to know if it was a new policy since I just got food from there recently.
