Took a formal dress in for alteration (straps and made smaller through the top). Staff were not very friendly, straps were cut in the middle which put a seam in the middle of them, very noticeable and uncomfortable! Also cost was very excessive! Will not be returning! read more

I just picked up my wedding dress and it was perfect! I originally had alterations done at David's Bridal and to say I was unsatisfied is an understatement. The dress is a v neck and I did not like how "on display" I was. David's told me there was nothing they could do to fix it, it's just the cut of the dress - I was devastated. I made an appointment with Original Alterations and within 5 minutes the seamstress pinned up the neckline and marked places to cut down the arm holes and sent me on my way. When I came to pick it up, Shamsi was on the phone with a bride in distress (the dress got butchered somewhere else). She did her best to calm the bride down, offer services, and figure out how to fix things. Although I pretty much walked out of there giving a thumbs up and a smile, all I could think was "if I am that bride, Shamsi is exactly who I would call!" I went to Original Alterations to get a suit hemmed for my wedding. The ladies there were very nice and accommodating. They were quick to let me get changed, measured where I needed to be hemmed, double checked that they could do what they needed to do because it was a rental so there were specific guidelines to what changes could be made. They totally knew what needed to be done and knew how they needed to do it with it being a rental. My measurement appointment was super quick, they had my suit ready on the promised day, and I had a super quick appointment when I went to pick up the suit as well. They made sure everything looked right, made sure I was happy with the alterations and I was on my way. Quick, efficient, and they are good at what they do. I brought my dress into her shop 2-3 weeks before my wedding, which was out of state, hoping and praying that she will be able to alter the dress in time without multiple fittings because my schedule was so tight. Mind you, my dress was about 2 sizes too big with A LOT of boning. She took the boning out completely for the fitting and put it back during alterations. My dress fit like a glove! When I went into her shop, the dress was heavy and hanging off of me and when I got it back it was a completely different dress (in a good way)! I purchased my wedding dress from David's Bridal and let them do the alterations, but after three appointments it still didn't fit and they basically shrugged and told me there was nothing else they could do. I found Original Alterations by coincidence. My fiance and I were planning a simple courthouse wedding, so I wasn't interested in buying an expensive wedding gown at a bridal boutique. Instead, I bought a couple white cocktail dresses online figuring I'd wear whichever fit better. I loved them both, but they were made for women that are six feet tall and all legs.
