I made an appointment online and was sent a link for their Lookbook. It said, "Feel free to like some dresses that you want to try on, but please be considerate of your appointment time, we recommend 5-10 dresses." There was a spot to tell what you liked about each dress you selected. It seemed helpful, even if it took me a while to scroll through and make my selections. I arrived for my appointment and was asked what I was looking for and if I could show her a picture. I kind of expected a couple of dresses might have been pulled for me before my arrival, given my online selections and notes. She had me look through the store to see if there was anything I liked. I ended up not even trying anything on! I know I am super selective and had a unique color in mind, but what a waste of time! Let's start from the beginning. 1st appointment with Kylie (who is no longer with the shop). Went in and asked about a few dresses that were on line. Pretty much any samples they had in store were not my size. Ok that is fine and normal for me. I tried on a few dresses to see how they felt etc. Came back another day to place the order. I got measured and ordered the dress paying what I expected as it matched the price on the site. I also questioned the size being ordered because I have never been that big of a size before. The sales person Kylie said oh it is designer sizes and they measure different. Fast forward to the dress coming in at size 24. I could have probably fit a small person in the dress with me. The alterations seamstress was immediately stressed and measured me saying a size 18 is what I measured. They checked to see if the dress could be re-ordered and here by the time of the wedding I am in. The designer could not get the dress in time. Seamstress says that they will take the dress in for free but I will have to pay for the hemming as size does not change the length. I disagree but trying to move on because it is what it is. Then the seamstress try's to place the blame on to me saying comments about my weight. This was when I started to get upset. But just kept it to myself. Then the seamstress says that when taking it in this much I will lose the pockets that are designed to be with the dress. The pockets were a major part of the selling of the dress for me. So the seamstress gets me all pined to take in the dress and hem the dress. Go in to my next alterations appointment. I express my disappointment in the pockets being gone and a different sales associate says well Kylie is no longer with us so there is nothing we can do about it. Cool. I put on the dress and it still needs taken in. Still quite big in the bust and shoulder area. Next the seamstress comes and pins the bust area and takes up the shoulder part as it is a one shoulder dress. I come in for the next alterations appointment hoping everything would be correct and finished. It was not. There was a huge gap on the side that did not have the shoulder strap. The seamstress recommended that we take up the shoulder strap to correct the gap. I agreed because I was going with the recommendation of the professional. Next alterations appointment come in try on the dress and the gap was still there. Talking to the seamstress she began to blame me for agreeing with her to just raise the shoulder to fix the gap. I said I was agreeing with the professional recommendation. So she huffed and puffed while pinning my side once again. Next and final time alterations text was sent. I arrived tried on the dress it finally fit. I asked why they don't steam a dress before leaving their shop with their name on it. The sales associate said steaming is an additional fee. I said it it fine I will have someone else do it. The associate rang me up for the $103 ish dollars for the hemming costs. I paid and expressed that I was highly unsatisfied with the service received at this shop and that they would allow a dress out of their shop with out being steamed. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a dress shop. Between the blame of multiple things being pushed on to me the customer. Also the frustration of not bringing the dress I wanted home. No pockets, the one side the arm hole is tight and a dress that needs steamed. I have more work to do and pay for on this dress to get it how I want. Very unsatisfactory and I will not be back. I am sure I was taken advantage of on pricing but I just wanted to get some what of a dress I paid for out of this store. I just have to pay for pockets to be put back in to the dress. And somehow fix the arm hole being too tight or lose some weight according to the seamstress for the dress to fit me properly... read more

This is a formal wear store. The selection is definitely much smaller than David's Bridal. They have one dress of their styles; if you want to get one, they order it for you and can tailor it here. The low selection is the biggest conundrum. Customer service was good; there happened to be a rep from one of their brands in the store the morning we went to look with my niece, and she was nice and happy to help her pull dresses for her to try, and then narrow down selections based on my niece's comments. read more

Will not be returning. Charged me nearly $80 for less than half an inch of fabric on the hem. When I arrived to pick up, stood in the store for 14 minutes and was passed by employees 4 times. No one acknowledged me, asked to help me, etc. When I called to make an appointment, got an attitude saying I didn't need an appointment for a pick up, yet they weren't able to accommodate a walk-in pick-up. read more

I purchased my wedding dress from Dublin Bridal and was referred to this shop. I worked in a bridal salon many, many years ago and know that most shops work with seamstresses that are very good and have extensive knowledge of wedding gowns. My wedding was in October and was told that it was important I don't start the process after July. I made an appointment in July and had my first fitting. Everything was great and I felt like Paulette was very knowledgeable. I didn't need a lot done to my dress but there were intricate details that would take some time. Maybe I have been out of the game too long, but my total was over $600. I was very shocked and was told that if I didn't pay in full the dress couldn't be touched. I didn't mind paying in full but after we left that day things took a turn. I had a final fitting appointment scheduled for August but after being sick and having some scheduling conflicts it was pushed to September. When I arrived at the shop Paulette brought out my dress in the bag and then she told me, "Sorry to disappoint you but I haven't even touched your dress." She told me since it was a busy time of the year, she had so many dresses to do and needed to get them done. Again, I have been in the wedding industry, so I get it and know timelines get pushed but was slightly worried since I was only 3 weeks away from my wedding. She told us to come back a week later and it would be done and ready to go. I also was told for the trouble my dress would be steamed for free, I can't believe shops charge for this service after you pay so much for alterations. I showed up ready to see the final product and was told that she only was able to do the underlining and some of the bustle had not gotten to everything else. We are now less than two weeks from my wedding, so I started getting worried. She also mentioned she would be hand sewing the lace on the hem back on by hand and I can't imagine that is a fast process. My worry was that this was going to be a rush job and the final product was going to look that way. My dress still needed the bustle completed, taken in at the bust, the off the should straps tightened, a sash sewn on, hemmed, and steamed. She told us to come back that Saturday and the dress would be completed and steamed and the next time I would try it on would be my wedding day. The panic started to set in because she assured me a week prior it would be done, now she was only giving herself 2 days to complete all that work. My dress was not only expensive, but I had it custom ordered and all I could think of was it looking botched or like someone rushed to fix it. Unfortunately, with a little over a week to go I had no other options on what I was wearing, and it really stressed me out. I wasn't going to leave it to chance and wait until my wedding day to put the dress on, my luck something would be wrong and the day of is not when to find out. One week from my wedding when we were told to pick it up and it would be ready to go, no surprise but it was not ready. My mom had to go pick it up since I was at work but when she showed up she was told there was some sewing still left and to come back in a few hours. She texted me to let me know and I felt like I was going to have a panic attack at work. How could it still not be done? When she returned, she had to wait for it to be steamed but eventually left with the dress. I tried it on when I got home, and it fit fine and looked good. It is disappointing that my dress had been at that shop for a few months and was ignored until the very last second. I hate to think if I was an out-of-town bride or had a destination wedding and this last-minute stuff didn't work. I also didn't like the fact that the last thing I need to be stressing out about as a bride is the only thing, I am wearing that day. I had no plan B. When I spoke to my married friends many of them told me they paid half of what I paid and had just as much work done and got their dress back in a month or less. At the end of the day one week from a wedding I think is cutting it too close, what if things weren't right? It would have given me no time to get it fixed. I kept hearing about other brides, but nothing makes someone feel like they aren't important like being told other work is taking precedence to yours. And I know its busy wedding season, but it angers me to think I went through the right process of starting early to avoid this and this is how it turned out. read more

Update: I have video evidence and more detailed photos damages done to dress. More holes and tears. Patchwork to coverup botched work done to gown. Detailed pics of botch hem, crooked installation of buttons for bustle, layered appliqué installed to side of dress (that was not consented to nor requested). Seamstress who rescued my dress case with the limited time allotted to her (despite not being enough to even salvage the gowns original integrity), expressed that, "In 24+ yrs of her working on dresses, she had never seen work like this done to a dress, and that Kathy butchered this dress." There was even a pin left in the dress. She also informed me that, "she would have never told me she would have recommended a sleeve on a dress like mine, and that the woman had no business taking it on as it was something that couldn't have been done, and obviously she wasn't capable of it either." The owner still won't return my calls, instead- every attempt to communicate for possible opportunities for their business to make this situation right or possibly even find another gown a week before my wedding, was met w no response. They delegated the work of communicating with me to the saleswoman- suzan, who sold me the dress. I also might add that after finding my gown at another dress shop in attempt to possibly rebuy another gown to save my wedding, that I was significantly overcharged here. Very disappointing. This was not a wise decision on their behalf. read more

Terrible, terrible tailoring of an expensive dress. It cost me $50 to have a $200 dress ruined, and they refused to give me a refund. Made the straps too short, and used basic tacking techniques to basically pin the sides and front together. It looks like a third grader did it. read more

Highly recommend Alterations by Vesna!! My husband urgently needed a tailor for our wedding. We had a Hindu ceremony and my husband's white kurta (grooms' outfit) was initially huge on him. My daughter took her wedding dress here to have sleeves added. Karen excepted the job and my daughter purchased the appliqué as well as the artwork of how she wanted the sleeves added. Every fitting there was an excuse as to why things were not completed mostly health issues. The entire process at this business was a nightmare. If a seamstress is not able to do the work that is requested a little professional courtesy would've been welcomed so we could have found somebody capable of placing the sleeves on the wedding dress. When she placed the dress on my daughter after adding sleeves she was unable to lift her arms and felt trapped in her dress. As the seamstress began to have hot flashes and moved away to fan herself the owner came over and cut the sleeves off my crying daughter in order to release her from the dress. We are now 18 days away from the wedding day and they said because of illness they were unable to work on the dress until next week. When I contacted the seamstress I told her I would be at the shop when they open to pick up the dress and she replied that the dress was at her house and she was not able to get to the shop. We never gave permission for the dress to leave the location of the shop. I advised her I would be there at 11 o'clock and I would expect that the dress would be there. I went to pick up the dress today and was met by very rude seamstress and owner. They wanted me to pay for the sleeves that were not put on the dress before they would release the dress. I offered to pay for the dress but told them that they were in breach of contract because they did not provide the service they were charging me for but would not allow me to have the dress without paying it. We had already paid $400 for alterations and they wanted an additional $375. In the end they agreed to let me take the dress but I would caution anybody not to take your wedding dress to By Vesna. I have never dealt with somebody so unprofessional I left there shaking with my heart racing and my daughter was in tears 18 days before her wedding we have to find a seamstress to fix their mistake. She not only does not have sleeves on it but they removed the straps that were originally there. The owner was loud and rude shaking her finger in my face as she raised her voice. I had my wedding dress altered with Tasha at Alterations by Vesna. Tasha was nice but very very quiet and not talkative, even when trying to continuously engage with her I didn't receive much. She was in there to take measurements and get you out. I tried to make the wedding dress alteration appointment fun, light and a great experience but it was the opposite of that. Quick, short and silent. The alterations came out fine but I much prefer having an enjoyable memorable experience for my wedding dress! Won't be going back. read more
