Oriental Taste is great if you want cheap, tasty and convenient food. The day after the blizzard, this was one of the few places open and I was very happy to patronize it again. I'd been here before and the food was always good and well priced, as the reviewer below noted. They use fresh veggies, none of those weird canned mushrooms that many cheap Chinese places use. In keeping with the somewhat healthy menu is the amount of sauce they use. Cheaper places rely on tons of sauce and grease for flavor, but the amount is pretty reasonable here. Another major plus was speed-two dinners were done in under ten minutes. One unfortunate thing about this restaurant is the name. We tried to look up the menu in order to order ahead, but finding the website/menu for this place was impossible because the name is just not search engine friendly. Many Google search results later, we just showed up and ordered in the restaurant. Happily we didn't have to wait long. If you plan to frequent this place, make note of the website above. This is my go to place for lunch when I am in the area. The lo mein is very good (never had the rice) also yummy crab rangoon. I've also had the chicken and broccoli, beef and mushrooms and beef and peppers. All are good and the prices can't be beat. They give a ton of lo mein. Also the owners / workers are very friendly and let you make substitutions without an additional charge. (I asked for just mushrooms & broccoli) I recommend giving them a try. read more

I have sampled quite a few Chinese take out places and for the niche, the food and customer experience it was well above average. Here's why: I ordered by phone for 3 people 1. We were able to find the menu online through Yelp with no difficulty and make a concise list before calling. 2. No problems in the ordering process, with explaining or repeating myself due to a language problem. 3. On the phone, the woman taking orders was familiar with menu so referring to items by description rather than code (eg. B24) was no problem. I even described food I didn't find on the menu and got a good representation of what I was asking for. She made good suggestions throughout the process. She reviewed the order for accuracy. It was right the first time. I ordered Egg Rolls and the woman asked me if I wanted hot mustard which i did. 4. I asked for an ETA, got one (20 minutes), showed up on time, the meal was ready and there were no mistakes after getting home. 5. Packing was high quality styrofoam, heat preserving boxes. Each box was labeled in pen with its contents. The entire order was placed in a shopping bag with high quality handles made from cord (not paper), a thick paper bag and a form fitting piece of cardboard at the bottom of the bag. The sauces where on the side and packed individually. I received no cheap plastic mustards packs that needed cutting or ripping. No sauces were provided in those distasteful little clear plastic pouches with higher than average squirt potential. 6. Nothing leaked on the ride home. No stains on the bag even though I ordered a quart of Hot & Sour soup. The soup was placed in a thick plastic container with a top and re-bagged in thin plastic and taped. Other sauces and commonly spilled fluids were isolated in a similar way. 7. I met a coworker when coming to pick up my order. This was my first time but my coworker is a repeat customer. 8. The food was well above expectations. The quality of the fried dumplings was better than typical. The breading was thick and the size was very large comparatively. The Szechuan Beef with peanuts I ordered was not sugary or greasy but flavorful. The meat was a little tough, but quite acceptable. My teenaged daughter made similar comments about the quality and goodness of the food. 9. The Restaurant was clean, workers were courteous and prompt. 10. Satisfied; we'll come again and recommend to others. 11. They take credit and debit cards. 12. Parking was easy, nice lot with fresh asphalt, uncrowded, easy to park close. read more

Gotten take out a bunch of times, it's always been ready when they say it will be. Singapore mei fun noodles are delicious and they make it extra spicy for a good kick. Rice is alright, typical fried rice. Dumplings are delicious. Crab Rangoon are too sweet for my liking. Chicken and broccoli is great. read more

This is my go-to place for Chinese. Great food, I can only speak for take-out service and it's always ready when I arrive. Nice people working there. The portions are really great for the price but any Chinese never seems as good the next day like cold pizza could. So finish what you started or you may be sorry the next day if you're stuck at home in a blizzard and can't get out and got nothing at home. Since I'm a take-out customer I'm not going to say anything about the interior or the seating. I mean I could, but my line goes from the door to the counter and right back out so that's all I got. read more

I really like this place as a lunch time stop because they have an a la carte selection of the most popular chinese food dishes. The staff is always friendly and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for an order. I think what really puts this place over the top is the amount of food you receive in an order for the price. Many times when I have this place for lunch I don't need to eat dinner that night. They fill a take out container with two main items with fried rice or lo-mein, that and a 20oz soda will set you back about $8.50. This place never let's me down. After moving to Cranston we searched and searched for a decent Chinese food place (the place that *everyone* loves is actually quite awful). We were so excited to find this location. They do an amazing family combo dinner that is generous and reasonable. I only gave four stars as I don't always love their egg rolls or fried rice. I have ate here about a half dozen times and each time it's been pretty good. This is more or less a take out establishment although they do have a few tables. They have a steam table with prepared items where you can select an entree and have a choice of fried rice or lo mein. It is pretty much the same concept as a fast food chinese resturant you'd find in the food court of a mall. The offer this express lunch each day from 11am to 3pm. The also have a regular menu. The prices are pretty cheap and the service is quick. The place is good if you're in a hurry and want chinese take out. The food overall is pretty good. read more

Hands down the best Chinese restaurant in the area! The vegetables and sauces are very fresh, not too salty or tasting of too many additives - unlike many local Chinese places. Large portions sizes give you great value for your money. The lunch menu looks like a great deal too - will have to check it out next time. Service is great, the whole staff is so friendly. My husband and I had egg drop soup, hot and sour soup (both soups served HOT and fresh), veggie lo mein, and Singapore noodles. We were about to order a late dinner & I was in he mood for Moo Goo Gai Pan. I haven't had it in 15+ years, but when I called the usual place I get Chinese from they didn't have all the ingredients for it, so I looked around & saw that Oriental Taste had a 4.5 rating with a significant amount of reviews so I called. It is difficult for us to order out since our son has severe shellfish and peanut allergies. They were extremely accommodating and took the time to find out what was potentially hazardous, made 2 dishes special order and separated the 3 items that he couldn't have in a separate bag. I live not too far from this take out establishment and it is quite frankly the best Chinese take out for miles. Everything is made fresh, there's no msg, and it doesn't weigh you down. The food is so delicious and the owners are so friendly. I definitely enjoy talking to them when I come to pick up my order. Their lunchtime special great too. If you come before 3pm you can get a huge plate of hot, delicious food for less than $8. You can't go wrong with that. Everything on the menu is great, but my favorites are the wonton soup, crab Rangoons, udon noodles, and Thai noodles to name a few. This was our first time getting takeout at Oriental Taste. We used our GPS to find it. It was part of a small strip of stores on Plainfield Pike. Now we know exactly where it's located, which is good because we will be going back for more takeout. I called once before placing our order to find out if delivery was available. The woman who took my call was so apologetic and courteous. Since we are in the midst of a pandemic, I was hoping we didn't have to stray from the house. However, since delivery was not an option, we decided to give it a try, so I called in our order. The woman again was very pleasant and answered my questions as I gave the order. My husband and I grabbed our masks and hit the road in search of the restaurant. We passed right by it twice, but the third time was the charm, and we found this little treasure. My husband went in to get our order. A clear window separated him from the cashier who told him that even their coins are sanitized! After he paid by sliding the payment under the clear window, my husband stepped to the side and retrieved our order from behind another window. What a great way to handle takeout, especially during a pandemic. And it gets even better . . . the food was delicious! We have been disappointed with so many other restaurants, but we are happy to have found that Oriental Taste has met, or possibly exceeded, our expectations! We'll be back there again, and I will update this post if necessary. read more
