Salmon sinigang
Austin K.

So, she is not supposed to be open on Tuesday but somehow she was. Perhaps, it was an off day. She only had one meal which was the salmon sinigang and 3 chicken wings with rice. I don't know sinigang and it tasted like a version of sour soup, but didn't have much flavor. The salmon was tender. But for $28, I can't really stomach the small portion of soup and 3 chicken wings.

Longanisa

Stopped by on a little Pike Place food crawl to try the longanisa and lumpia! It's nice that they sell them individually as a side since that was all we wanted. The longanisa was phenomenal. Absolutely delicious - juicy with a snappy skin and the flavor was spectacular! It came with some vinegar to cut the fattiness but I could devour a few of those easily. The lumpia was also good (it's the long and skinny type) but the longanisa was definitely the star. I'd 100% come back to try more!

Even though we spent the day eating through the market we had to make room for the longanisa sausage here. We grabbed a sausage and lumpia and the lumpia was solid nothing crazy, but the sausage was in fact mind blowing. I could've eaten many in one seating and I was strongly debating grabbing some mac and cheese to pair with it. Well priced and quick if you just want a little snack.

This place is one of the most hyped Filipino restaurants in Seattle, and it's located right at the entrance to Pike Place so it's always packed with tourists. To be honest, I don't know why this place is so hyped. If you come expecting life changing Filipino food, then you'll probably be disappointed. But if you just want some solid home style cooking, then this is for you. This place is famous for their salmon sinigang but they always run out super fast (like before 12 on weekends), so if you want some, you better come early. They usually have the sinigang broth with small pieces of salmon that you can get with your food though. I think the best things here are the longanisa and the bangus head. The longanisa is homemade and packed with flavor. I loved how fatty and rich it was and the strong flavors paired with rice and vinegar are so good. The bangus head is also really good. The skin is super crispy and the meat is tender and fresh. I must emphasize that you have to get the head. The body is too lean and the meat was pretty dry. The adobo has good flavor but I also felt that the meat was dry.

A true Seattle and Pike Place institution! On my most recent trip here on a Saturday morning, I got the half and half: a half order of salmon sinigang and then I opted for the longanisa. I also got two lumpia as well! The sinigang was addicting I could not stop drinking the broth. It had a nice sour flavor that I could not resist. The longanisa had the perfect amount of sweetness and texture and the lumpia was nice and crispy with an amazing filling! Limited seating here as it is counter only if you are dining in but it is so good!! Also the workers are super nice and friendly and checked in on you!

longaniza + Chicken Adobo Rice & Pancit

I came around 1pm on a saturday and there was no line. the restaurant does not have a lot of seating, but I managed to get a seat since it wasn't that busy. I wasn't that big of a fan - the rice was mushy and the adobo sauce didn't taste like much to me. The chicken was tender, but pretty flavorless as well. My favorite part was the longaniza. The restaurant is decorated well and feels very homey. I heard the soups might be better.

This place has been on my to-try list for 5 or so years, and my friend and I finally got to have it on a Saturday morning around 11:40am. It serves classic Filipino comfort food, similar to the likes of Ludi's and Sizzling Asian Grill. The only difference is that this place has been around for a really long time, and is tucked away inside part of Pike Place beyond some groceries and next to a yogurt place. It's noisy around here, and there's limited seating just around the corner of the kitchen and some straight ahead. Menu is pretty small, which is already a good thing since that means the dishes are gonna be high quality. After placing your order, the staff make your food and then call your name out when your food's ready. Both my friend and I got their longanisa plate, which comes with rice and pancit. Rice is standard and has some sauce on it, while the pancit is lightly salted and makes for a great palette cleanser. The real winner was the longanisa, and you get three thick pieces of them for around $18 after tax! Each piece was sweet, tender and juicy all around, and I could see some fat inside when I was biting into each one. They're so packed with flavor that I wish there were five pieces instead! Portions here are deceptively big even though the plate is small, so expect to struggle finishing it if you're not a big eater. I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally try here, and now that I have it's something else to cross off my really long list of Seattle places I've neglected to try over the years. Even with just one visit, I'd take family, friends, and visitors to Seattle here for one of their meals!

This isn't a standard pike place food stall--it's a high-stakes audition where the prize is lunch. The line moves best when everyone is understands what's at stake. You're expected to know your order, say it clearly, pay immediately, and slide down the counter like you've trained for it. Hesitate, ask a question, or make a joke and you can feel Auntie Lie, the owner, giving you the once over. I ordered the salmon sinigang and the longanisa, unfortunately, they were amazing. This is Filipino home style food- rustic, rich, flavorful, well seasoned--and after walking all day in the cold rain, it was like coming home. Auntie Lie behind the counter served it like she was issuing a warning, not a meal. Just kidding- she actually was warm and friendly. She said, "you come here before? You know exactly the right things to order". I didn't tell her it was out of fear and admiration for how she handled the tourist in front me. Just kidding . I sat at the side bar, enjoyed my meal and enjoyed reading her many notes and pictures with folk who've been longtime fans. This stall has baked in character, and in the bustle of tourists, eating here and watching it all was a great ambience. Worth it? Yes. This is a must needed spot to visit at pike place. If it isn't, don't tell Auntie Lie.

Always so comforting and delicious came right when they opened on a Sunday, has been awhile since I've had a chance to dine here. Love being able to chat Auntie Lei. My friend and I shared the Trust Me Plate we had both been wanting to try it for awhile.. and were also lucky enough to get a couple of Auntie's wings. Every one is always friendly and food comes out fast. One of the fun parts is reading the signs while you're sitting at the lunch counter

This is my first time here and I can definitely see why it's so highly rated. It's in pike place, and they are popular as there was already a line right when they open. They only have a few seatings so either you have to wait or do take out or fine seating elsewhere. The person taking our order is very friendly. She treated us like a friend rather than a customer. We ended up getting 1/2 sinigang and pork adobo. It was a good portion. Both was very tasty. The pork was very tender and soft and the dish itself was balanced. The sinigang was definitely sour but in a good way. My husband loved it. The only reason for a 4 star is because I think it's pricey. The food is good but I don't think it justifiy for the price. It was $28 for what we got.

It was not good at all. Just being honest here. Everything is watery even the inside of the longanisa. Not sure why people like this place. Location: It is located at Pike Place Market. You have to go inside of the market and it looks like an eatery. There is only bar chairs so its a little bit uncomfortable. There is a line when I went there. Service: they were nice and apologetic about the line. Food: Everything was not good. This is not how Filipino dish should be made. LONGANISA: i dont know but the sausage is very watery inside, it could be good if it is not soggy. The rice is not cooked as well it has too much water. The noodles that comes with it is bland. ADOBO: this is not how adobo should he made. It was watery and there is no adobo flavor. I felt like they boiled it in water and put soy sauce on it. It is very watery. SINIGANG na SALMON: this might be a little better. Its sour but the salmon is the head so there is not that much meat on it. Price rating: 10/10. Very expensive for not so good meal. around $22 per meal. Never will come back here. I felt that people that come here never tasted what a real Filipino food supposed to taste like.

No frills, no fuss. You order at the counter, then sit down and they bring the food to you. And this is a storied place at Pike Place, and the wall of visitors and recognitions lets you know its past. It certainly is a home cooked food experience, you are seeing them cook right in front of you. I got a half and half - so salmon tip sinigang soup and chicken adobo which came with pancit (noodles) and garlic rice. The soup is so perfect on a rainy day. It warms from within, the herbal sour notes. It's not heavy, it's light but it is definitely plentiful. Just be careful of the fish bones. The vinegary chicken adobo is also like a hug in a bowl, eaten with the rice. Would absolutely recommend anyone who visits Pike Place to not miss this place.

As of July 2021, on which days is lunch available here? Trying to plan a visit, but don't want to miss the food if it's not every day.

They are open every day for lunch other then monday. It is a lunch counter that opens at 11 and closes when shes out of food or 4pm. Whatever occurs 1st.

Does this restaurant offer delivery, I've looked everywhere on delivery apps but can't find it? Also, the link to their Facebook website seems broken to me.

I don't believe they do delivery. They don't have a real big menu right now they have a table set on the side facing the street that goes through the market and you can order from a list of items available.

What are the hours for getting the salmon sinigang? I am getting conflicted info- are they open from 9-6pm or only for lunch 11-3?

11-3pm Thur-Sun or until they run out of food. This is just temporary until the next phase.

Can I order for togo? I would like to try the sinigang but i live quite far away so i wanna buy a bunch then save jt for later

Yes, I recall a few people ordering to go orders!! The line can be long but worth it.

Do they serve dinuguan there daily or is it a special dish only served once in a while?

Just once in awhile but if you call and ask for Leila she will let you know what day she'll make it

First of all, the lumpia were like cigars, and packed with fillings. They could easily have been cut in half and shared to feed 8. Secondarily, the wings had that nice tart tamarind flavor you expect from sinigang. In addition, the batter was not heavy. Both fried items arrived piping hot. The signature bulalo was made with beef shanks vs oxtail. I got the bone with marrow, and the attached fat & tendon: I was in heaven. The remainder of the meat was super tender, and the broth had been skimmed of excess fat. Lastly, the pancit was very good, with crunchy carrots to contrast the soft noodles. The lop cheung added a nice savory profile to a classic Filipino dish. Regarding the ambiance, its small and quaint in here. They let you know where they stand on social issues which is cool. The staff was super friendly and full of Mabuhay. They really made you feel at home. I have been to three Filipino places in Seattle, and I have rated all three 5 Stars for different reasons. Perfectly crispy, super snackable, and that sauce? Oof. Punchy, bright, and exactly what the lumpia needed. The beef cheeks with garlic rice were pure comfort food; tender, rich, filling, and deeply satisfying. Then came the ribs: sticky, savory, finger-licking goodness. Even the cocktail hit the mark. Our server was attentive when taking our order but rarely came to our table when the dishes were brought to our table. After our last entree was served, our many entrees plates were not cleared for another 20 minutes even though it was clear we were done eating. Our server never came to our table to check up on us. We had to ask another server for our bill. The final bill for me and my spouse came out to $263.79 and included 4 cocktails. This was not a special occasion dinner. We both want to support Filipino restaurants to become more main stream, however, they need to earn repeat customers. Some of the upscale Filipino restaurants we have dined at includes Kasama (Michelin Star) in Chicago and Abacá in San Francisco had very good service. We started with siyokoy cocktails which were tasty and had a tangy flavor I was craving for in an aperitif. Our entrees consisted of tinapa tonnato, ensaladang pinakbet, adobo ribs, kare kare and shared and order of the bibingka for dessert. We both enjoyed the tinapa tonnato and I especially liked the addition of mint because it brightened the slight funkiness of the tomato salad. The ensaladang pinakbet was not a "traditional" version of the dish and was served cold like a salad and without rice. The veggies were cooked perfectly. The pickled bitter melon was a nice addition although I thought the bitter melon was a bit too vinegary but my spouse liked the level of vinegar. Overall, we both enjoyed this version of pinakbet. The adobo ribs were meh and one note in flavor but was very tender. It lacked acidity which is a typical flavor profile for Filipino adobo. I was getting a slight bitter aftertaste, not sure where it was coming from, perhaps from too much char on the ribs because of the grilling. The ribs are covered in a thick glaze so I couldn't see the naked ribs. We both would have liked wedges of lime to squeeze on the ribs to give it a little hit of acidity. A little Maldon salt would have helped too. The first couple of bites of the kare kare were tasty but started to taste monotonous. We both agreed it needed a bit more salt or bagoong on the side for each diner to add the level to their own taste specifications. The beef cheeks portion was large and was very tender, unctuous, and delicious. The bibingka was served warm and very buttery. We enjoyed the crispy edges. I guess the O.G. designation meant it was the original recipe. It tasted like the recipe I grew up eating. Nothing inventive.

Our office gets a list of the weekly offerings on Monday, so when I heard that later in the week there would be Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen, bringing Filipino food, I most definitely made lunch plans. I was coming in from a meeting in Fremont, so didn't go to the pop-up/Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen as soon as it started service (around 11am). With that said, I nearly missed out on the chicken adobo! I took the last of the chicken adobo an hour and a half after the lunch service started, so was counting my blessings! I ordered the lunch plate, which came with chicken adobo, pancit, rice and pickled veggies. My lunch plate was solid. Chicken adobo was tender and really, really liked how vinegar-y the flavor was, which, any Filipino would tell you that all food tastes better with vinegar! Pancit wasn't bad, but not the best. Some of the noodles were on the dry side, but I did like the cabbage and green onion throughout. Pickled veggies were a nice addition, adding more sour flavor to the overall entree. For someone who hardly ever has Filipino food and desperately misses mom's cooking, I was just happy to have Salu-Salo bring some adobo to the area. I would definitely recommend checking out Salu-Salo if you ever see their stand around. They don't update their social media channels, unfortunately, so is a little difficult to find where their stand will be. And when I asked if they participate in any markets, they do not. But the owners did mention that they visit downtown Seattle often at other office buildings around. Therefore, I have a feeling I'll be seeing them soon and getting my Filipino cuisine on. Rosario's cuisine feels like a healthy take on comfort food. Each dish bursting with flavor, yet still accessible to all ages. The idea behind comfort food is all about the thought that goes into the prep. After tasting Salu-Salo's food, I promise you can tell a lot of care goes into the preparation of each dish. I am looking forward to this becoming a Seattle institution, and hope it inspires more Filipino cuisine to start popping up in the PNW.

Great for hanging out or for working. We ordered a sisig piroshki which was really good and flavorful. I love the twist to a class piroshki. We also ordered guava cream cheese and a strawberry jalapeno cream cheese danish. My son wanted the chocolate chip roll and it was loaded with chocolate. The highlight of our visit was the leche flan. It came out just as we were leaving and I had to get one. It's a pastry topped with flan and salted egg and it was perfect. It was warm and flaky and the flavors were just so delicious. If you're lucky enough to be around when the leche flan is in the case, I highly recommend trying it. I'm still dreaming about it

I really enjoyed it and would definitely get it again. #goodeats My biggest issue is the price, especially from the food trucks. At around $10 per item, it feels a little expensive for what you're getting. It's tasty, but I'd probably want more food for the price. There's also a newer spot by the Summit building, which is a much more convenient location compared to going all the way down to the pier. Definitely worth stopping by if you're already in the area. Service was quick and curt.

Calling this ube cheesecake a little purple slice of heaven may be an understatement. It's that…read moregood. I'd heard a lot about this singular item; how it became a Seattle iconic bakery pickup dish and the people who rave about it. Due to it closing somewhat early, I'd never been able to make it out there though, until now. And there was no question about what I was getting. As someone unhealthily (literally) obsessed with cheesecakes, this is right up my alley. This is unlike any cheesecake I've had. The first thing you feel is the immediate richness - characteristic of the very best. I want to feel like I'm consuming something that's going to shorten my life when I eat a cheesecake. This absolutely delivers on that promise; it's got a mouthfeel that lingers and makes you feel its presence even after the last bite is gone. The tiny-bit sour, heavily deep and cheesy flavor is complemented by a texture that's supremely soft. The crust is also great - while not as hard as other crusts I've had, this is unique as its made with coconut butter biscuit. What makes this one unique is the same thing that makes it purple. Its ube flavor combines so well with the normal cheesecake flavor that I can't believe I haven't had this combination before. The slightly-sweet, vanilla-forward, coconut-hinting, earthy nature of the yam balances out the cheese perfectly. The only thing practically missing is a touch of salt for something truly awesome. The only downside here is the price is 9 bucks. That is a lot for a cheesecake piece that's pretty small - roughly 150g. Overall, this absolutely ranks up there with some of the best cheesecakes I've had. 9.75/10

Cheesecake isn't my favorite cake either, so I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Coffee was fine, I would stick with the pastries here. Overall, it's a cool space to hang out and catch up. Menu leans on the pricier side

Ohh emmm geee delicious!!!…read more The lumpia alone will bring me back!!! Must try!! Also the sizzling sisig stole the show! The pancit and fried rice were also good!! I was so excited to try this place after having had the BEST crispy pork belly kare-kare I've ever…read moretasted. I grew up eating Filipino food, and kare-kare was actually a dish I never really cared for. But I recently had it at a party that was catered from here on a Saturday, and I honestly couldn't stop thinking about it afterward. The following week, I was raving about it to my sister-in-law (our partners are Filipino), and since we were in the area, we decided to stop by. We walked in right at 11 when they opened. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing from the start. We weren't greeted very warmly by the older woman taking orders. Maybe she was having an off day, or maybe we happened to walk in right as they opened, but as my SIL was ordering, she seemed visibly annoyed with us. What really stood out, though, was when two older Filipino women came in shortly after. Her demeanor completely changed, and she became much warmer and more hospitable toward them. I don't want to assume someone's intentions, but as someone who isn't Filipino, it honestly made us feel very unwelcome and discriminated against. It was especially disappointing because we genuinely love Filipino food and regularly eat dishes like papaitan and tortang talong with our Filipino family. We weren't just randomly ordering unfamiliar food, these are dishes we know and love. And my whole life I've never experienced any negative interactions with any Filipino, ever. They're some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. We ended up getting our food to go. The tortang talong was pretty greasy and the tapsilog was decent. And I have to give credit where credit is due: the crispy kare-kare is still the best I've ever had. That alone is what would bring me back for the food. Unfortunately, the service is what keeps me from rating this place higher. Based on my experience, I'd recommend this as more of a takeout spot only. Hopefully whoever takes your order is having a better day than ours did.
