The owner of this place is a complete joke. Ordered take out and when it arrived a hour later the food was ice cold. I called to speak to the owner and he said sorry its busy here tonight. I asked if it was ok to pay 60 bucks for food that is ice cold. The owner says sorry dont order from us anymore. Really!! What kind of owner would say that??? I am reviewing the sushi, as I have not touched the chinese menu here yet. I come here often for sushi, and I have found that oriental delight is by far the best sushi bar in Dover. the fish is always fresh, and I recommend talking to the sushi guys about it as they more often than not will let you sample some. My favorite maki is the "CAA" (cuke-avo-asparagus) roll. the rice is always on point, and the veggies have the perfect crunch. also recommend the Alaska roll. this is my go-to when I'm not in Portsmouth. :) read more

Had a "yen" for Chinese food while visiting grandchildren so we tried Oriental Delight. We are big fans of fried won tons and found them good, but a bit soggy rather than crisp. May have just been a matter of not serving in time. All the meals were great. No adventure here, beef and broccoli, shrimp and vegetables, chicken low mein, etc. and all were delicious. Hot & sour soup, as well as won ton soup, were both tasty, nicely seasoned and delicious, also. We can definitely recommend Oriental Garden to our family & friends. read more

So on the recommindation of a family friend we came here for the Fish in spicy oil dish (shui Zhu yu). We were not disappointed- the dish was authentic and delicious. The restaurant combines Chinese with Japanese food in a restaurant and bar. We only tried the Chinese food and all of the dishes that we ordered were tasty and served at a reasonable speed. I have enjoyed lunch here on numerous occasions over the past five or six years and have found the food and service to be consistently good. I recently had their Kung Pao Chicken luncheon special (a dish I order far too often) and the portions were large enough that I shared the left-overs with my wife. My waiter was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. I noticed another diner having sushi and it looked very appealing. I will try that next time. Went to this place as a party of 4. We were charged 15% tip with out our permission and no receipt to sign. We asked "were is it written that the tip is taken automatically?" This is our go to place for sushi. They have the best spice tuna roll and their red dragon roll is also fantastic. The hot and sour soup is my favorite on the seacoast, and when I'm craving great Chinese ( think pork fried rice and general gaos chicken) the OD never lets us down! The owner Frank is also the nicest guy, and if you come here frequently, he will most definitely remember you and greet you every time he sees you, making it feel like you've been coming here for years. It's probably my fault for not sticking up for myself upon my pick up order, but they over charged me for my sushi and then acted sheepish when I asked for a receipt. The damage was done, I wasn't in the mood to fight for a couple bucks but I'm really annoyed they did that. The receipt only had the amount I paid, not what I paid for. I'll stick with Saigon and Tokyo despite Oriental being much closer. Let's start with the service, the waiting staff was phenomenal we had a small oriental women who was so sweet and had very good waitressing skills. The food was very good and blew my expectations out of the water. Dessert was phenomenal, fried ice cream to die for. This is a review for people looking for authentic Chinese foods not the American-Chinese ones. All the dishes in this restaurant taste pretty much the same whatever you order. The chefs seem to be changing all the time but the taste is seldom authentic Chinese. One time ordered boiled water fish but they gave me bean sauce fish; and after I told them this, the owner kindly took the dish back, stripped the bean sauce (largely), and returned seriously told us that it is boil water fish. I would even be happy if he simply apologize and keep the dish. The owner also requires that all lights should be "very very" dim at night and you can hardly see what you are chewing. The prices are too high for the quality. The only pro of this restaurant is that it is the only one in the Dover-Portsmouth area that offers real Chinese style foods, not the American Sweet-Sour versions. read more

This place always has happy diners sitting in the window enjoying their sushi and Chinese. I was skeptical about how a restaurant could do both, so we decided to give it a try. We had the Dover Roll with spicy Tuna, Avocado, and seaweed salad. It was delicious!!! I am a San Diegan and eat fresh sushi all the time and the sushi was impressive. We asked about their best selling dishes and tried the spicy lamb with cumin. Again the flavors were so delicious. I can't wait to come back and try their spicy fish. Our server Kathleen was attentive and helpful. She said the chefs are the real deal, Chinese cooks who speak very little English so you know the Chinese food is authentic. This is now my go to Chinese and Japanese restaurant in Dover. Much easier than dealing with the Portsmouth traffic and parking. read more

This USED to be one of my absolute favorite places to get sushi when I lived in Dover 5 years ago, wow this place has gone down hill from then! Terrible service, wasn't checked in on the whole time we had our entrees (a water would have been nice!) and the sushi rolls were awful. Overflowing with rice and not even rolls! We ordered specialty rolls, not maki, and were delivered these oversized rice logs wrapped in seaweed that you can't even fit in your mouth. What happened to this place?! read more

Always a pleasant experience! My wife and I probably eat there once every two weeks. Frank, the owner, is one of the nicest guys around. The staff is always friendly and prompt. I am really impressed with the menu here. The sushi is really fresh, and a good price too! (As opposed to some of the Portsmouth sushi spots, where you shell out too much money for small portions.) Went in for 'trivia night' & we thought it would be exciting to go check out because we don't get a chance to ever go out on Thursday nights. We had some poor experiences with Amanda in the past with service & this night would be no different. It took her 20 minutes to come to us. We ordered a drink & food all at once since we had enough time to look at the menu. Our food came out almost 5 minutes later & drink soon after. 40 minutes later, Amanda still had not come back to check if things were ok. Our food order was messed up, and our drinks had been empty for quite some time. I witnessed at this time, her talking to the bartenders patrons, laughing it up, and also talking with her friends, putting a reserved sign at a table so her friends could have a place to sit when more of them came in. I noticed she walked right passed us as we tried to flag her down. I noticed her walk outside. So I asked to speak to the manager. Come to find out - she is the manager! After she came in from her smoke break, she went right back to working, without washing her hands. The hostess told her that I asked for the manager. She came over to our table & asked "what's up?". I began to tell her that we were not satisfied wit the service. She blamed it on being busy. So I called her out on mingling with her friends - she claims it was not her friends. So I stated "you save tables for them, and hug them when they arrive?" She also denied going out smoking even though she reeked of cigarettes. Not once did she own up to anything, or apologize. Instead she had the bartender come over & cash us out. That is the person you entrust on bringing back your customers? Everyone else that we deal with in that place had been great, we started thinking that it was a racial thing, since we are not a white couple, but when we were there we learned that we were not the only one with complaints on Amanda. We would spend between $60-$100 a visit. We will now have to bring our business somewhere else. read more

Love love love Oriental Delight! They serve both Chinese and Japanese cuisine, and they do a great job with both. My husband always orders Chinese, and I stick with their sushi, which is wonderful. Best things on the menu: Spicy Crispy Tuna Roll, Yaki Udon, and Spicy hamachi, all DELICIOUS. The servers have sometimes been a little sassy, but I just order another mai tai :) read more

Been here 3 times and had great meals. Food has authentic taste with lots of flavor. Good size portions and lots of variety. Their carry out service is a continuous line of bags heading out the door, so you know I am not the only fan. The reasons for 4 not 5 stars was the wait staff was difficult to get a hold of as they did not return until flagged down, they could not accommodate my granddaughter's request for butter to put on her white rice, and the restroom was far from clean and the doors did not work properly. read more

I love to sit at the bar and order food and drinks with my wife, great bar, great food, we both love the sushi but I'm a big fan of their Chinese dishes as well ample enough to make you fat and happy. Bar staff is always friendly and remembers your preferences, only reason for four stars instead of five is due to the fact that one bartender serving the whole lounge makes service a little slow, at no fault of the staff, they do work hard. read more

Had gone here a couple times before, and was more than satisfied with the service and food. However, after my experience there today, its safe to assume that I will never be going back again. First off, our server was impersonal and awkward - barely knew any English at all. That's not a big deal in and of itself, but when I get a wire in my food from a metal scrubby: that's a big deal. Who knows where the scrubby had been, or how a piece of it got on my plate and under my chicken fingers? Either way, I believe it to be totally unacceptable. That piece of wire could have been from a scrubby that was used to clean any number of disgusting things. Barf. Moreover, I had to flag down another server to take the food back and get me a different plate. The new plate of food - while lacking any shards of scrubby - was pretty disgusting; I could tell it had been sitting under a heat lamp of in a steam table for a long time. The rice was clumpy, old, barely warm, and had a bit of a pungent smell to it, as if it were borderline spoiled. Needless to say, this ruined my appetite. Even worse, no manager ever came over to apologize, and my server never offered to take the meal off my tab. I try not to hold grudges, but this is gonna be a hard one to let go. I don't think Ill ever go back unless my fiance literally drags me there. read more

My wife was craving Chinese and I was excited that they had Sushi. All said and done, my wife was satisfied and I found the sushi not fresh and disapointing. Only down side was three women at the establishment were more obnoxious and disrespectful than a group of high schoolers.
