This place has been on my radar for some time, and jumped on a chance to try it for lunch. Note that this restaurant has a small parking lot our front, which can save you from feeding the meters. The restaurant was not too busy on arrival, but then a steady stream of diners streamed in, as well as a brisk pace of take out orders. We had a friendly and efficient waiter, who helped explain the menu a bit as it was our first visit. The menu is pan-asian, but I thought leaned heavily into Japanese dishes. So many dumpling and Bao dishes, I was tempted to just have those, but also wanted to try a noodle dish. Xiao Long Bao and soup dumplings were delicious, and I absolutely want to return to work deeper into the dumplings here. For the noodle dish, we opted for Seafood Maloney, which was an assortment of seafood with glass noodles. This dish wasn't my favorite, had a fair amount of shrimp, but not much else, and wasn't a flavor that I loved. Next time, will try a more traditional noodle dish. My first time at Hong's and I can definitely say it'll be a go-to spot for soup dumplings and wings. My party enjoyed their ramen bowls since they were flavorful and came in big portions. Hong is a great spot for delicious, fresh japanese food. When we arrived a few minutes after they opened on Sunday, the boba wasn't quite ready because they make it fresh every day. The soup dumplings were a little light on soup but other than that, everything was so flavorful and satisfying. The space is somewhat small so plan to come early or be ready for a wait. There's also a small parking lot in front of the restaurant, if you can find a spot there, try to back into it. Otherwise you may be better off with street parking as it can be difficult to back out onto the busy road. read more

The food was incredible. They have colossal portions and yet I could not stop eating the broth. The noodle bowl I had was outstanding and the ingredients were beautifully prepared. I always love stopping by. And, sometimes, if you arrive at an odd time like 3:00 pm, you won't need to wait for a table. The spicy miso is extraordinary. I took half of it home, added a couple of hard boiled eggs, and had it for breakfast. Delicious!! Their spicy chicken app is so good that I get it every time. First, let me apologize for no pictures. I did not have my phone with me. Last night the better half and I decided to go to Dover for some soup dumplings. We had not been to Hong Asian Noodle Bar (HANB) for well over a year. Do not ask me why! We have always loved this place for their soup dumplings ... which are above average and very tasty. But they are a little thicker skinned than those you get in China. Also they do not provide enough ginger and miss on soy and black vinegar as well. But they are solid for this area of the country. But when we got there, the place was packed! 30 minute wait to get a table! And they had their full menu, something that NEVER happened all the other times we were there. So I got the tan tan ramen ... essentially spicy ground pork in a pork broth with ramen, scallions, ginger, bok choy and an egg. It was so damn good I had to just stop and really let it sink in how good this was. I would have liked to add a little spice, but hell, this was a 5 star dish hands down. Add a couple ice cold Sapporo's and you have a perfect meal. We will be going back soon ... pics to come. I do not recall another restaurant that has dramatically improved as much as HANB. Everything I have tried here has been delicious. The crab rangoon and the age dashi tofu are exceptional. The fried rice is flavorful and not greasy or heavy. Their drinks are fantastic. Great stop for ramen in Dover! We are a bit of ramen snobs as my husband has spent a lot of time in Japan for work. We always are comparing back to Japan. This place didn't disappoint! The spicy miso was EXTREMELY spicy. I like heat but it was more than what was needed in my opinion. They were out of tonkatsu which was a bummer. The gyoza were delicious! They also made some great drinks. They did well with our toddler. It's a smaller place so I wouldn't recommend bringing a huge group or some wild children. I've been frequenting Hong since it first opened, and think it is the best ramen in the area, (I recommend the spicy miso). I know this is a qualified proclamation, given that there are not that many ramen options around. But it is certainly a welcome addition to the Dover restaurant scene, and gives us an option for great ramen that doesn't require driving 15-20 minutes down to Kittery to hit up Anju. Aside from their top notch ramen, their Japanese fried rice is also fantastic. Not overly oily or heavy, yet flavorful. The gyoza and dumplings also make great bites. The ambiance is only ok in there- it can be crowded and is a fairly small place, but everyone there has always been friendly, and they package the food well if ordering takeout. The restaurant is small, so I'd definitely recommend calling ahead to reserve a spot for larger groups. The decor is tasteful yet not overdone, paying homage to it's mixture of Japanese and Chinese items on their menu. Firstly, they have the best and most addictive crab rangoons in 50 mile radius from Dover (trust me, I've checked). They are an absolute "must-order" each time. Other favourites are the cucumber salad and soup dumplings. You can't go wrong with their any of their ramen soup bowl entrees - tonkatsu (pork bone broth), miso (fermented soybean paste) or spicy miso, shoyu (soy sauce broth). While ramen refers to thinner cut noodles, they have udon soups as well, made with the thicker, chewy noodles. It's all very good, and definitely worth trying.
