Found this on the long way home from work and was craving Tom Kha soup. I got an order to go along with their chicken curry, medium. Unfortunately the soup was a little too fishy for my taste and I couldn't eat it. I don't really like most fish anyhow so don't let that deter you from trying it. It looked super fresh and had all the right goodies in it. The curry was delicious with the perfect heat. I would definitely like to explore more of the menu. Ordered take out while visiting town--I came down with a cold and needed something comforting and spicy. I was pleasantly surprised to find the heat level true to Thai (sometimes I think people feel pressured to lower the heat). This spot delivers, so take that into account when ordering! Everything we ordered was well cooked, flavor packed, and kept well in transit. My toddler devoured her food. read more

Excellent, authentic Thai cuisine. The menu features a generous selection of dishes, some familiar Thai favorites like satay and pad Thai; and others more novel like the Eggplant Pad that I had with vegetables. My wife grew up in Durham long before this restaurant opened, so long ago that memories of the space as a movie theater opened our dinner conversation. It was great to step into a welcoming restaurant new to us and have a very satisfying meal. We finished with a delicious mango sticky rice. I have never had this before. Reliably great food and good service. We have tried most things on the menu, and have not had a bad meal over the past 5-6 years eating here. Curry dishes are awesome and the spicy Thai chicken or maybe it's called firecracker chicken? Well, it's excellent. The crab rangoon appetizer is very good too. read more

Having enjoyed this place for many years, and introducing many to the place....very disappointing experience; ordered my go to- Pad See U with veg and tofu lunch....portions have now become very small, but that is not what prompted me to post this review...the food made me very ill...gastric distress and I know exactly the cause; old oil. The Thai tea here is the best I've had. It doesn't have the bitter taste of Thai tea leaves nor the thick sweetness of the condensed milk. It's smooth and light. I wanted to order squid but I've been having bad food recently somewhere else, so I opted for safe route. Sumai and ademame are really good. The drunken noodles and the ground beef dinner with the egg (beef Pad Ka Pow) are good. They tasted like homemade food that my ex boyfriend's family made. The egg was perfectly cooked. 4 star is because we had much better flavored food at Sukho Thai in New Orleans. Overall, we enjoy the food here a lot. The price here is very reasonable as well. We definitely would come back here again if we ever come back to New Hampshire. read more

Eeek... this was a BIG disappointment. Seeing the strong ratings, we brought family from out of town. We ordered classic dishes (pad thai, chicken satay, two different types of curry, fried rice, and a shumai). The pad thai color was off (it was red!) with the overuse of paprika and while it wasn't the worst pad thai we've ever had, it was definitely off.... The curry WAS the worst we ever had - was tasteless, watered down to the slightest hint of curry, with GIANT cuts of bland potatoes and carrots to be put in a teeny tiny bowl of rice. The fried rice was consumed only out of hunger and the chicken satay was the smallest (pinky size) strips of overcooked chicken. When we were leaving, I noticed that other people's pad thai dishes looked right.... so I don't know what happened to our table, but it was a total and absolute disaster. read more

I really enjoy the food here, in particular the lunch specials which are affordable and delicious. I come here pretty often for lunch with coworkers and it's always been really good. The thai iced tea is delicious and not to be missed, and I always go with the chicken pad thai which has never disappointed. The pricing is affordable, staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is quiet. I ordered dinner takeout from Thai Smile-2 recently. This Thai restaurant also has a full service dining room. I got the Chicken Pad Thai ($10.95 plus tax), which was ready to go in under 10 minutes. The good sized portion of Pad Thai noodles was served very hot, which had a mix of soft cooked rice noodles with scallions, red onions, egg, sprouts, tender pieces of boneless chicken, ground peanuts, and lime. The dish was enjoyable, which was fresh, mild, and very tasty. I will have to stop in here again to try the other dishes. I was definitely smiling :) after dinner! read more

This was my first time at this location and I left pleasantly content. My friend and I ordered the Crab Rangoon to share which were amazing. Honestly hands down my newest favorite location to go to for crab rangoons. I also ordered the lunch special of Thai Lo-Main with chicken. It was my first time trying this type of meal and it was alright. We ordered to spicy sauce because we felt that it needed a kick and it helped. This dish was good, however I wouldn't eat it again. Overall my opinion of this place is that it was really good. The waiters were very friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Always used to go and enjoy their food with great service. The guy, who served me was always super positive and always remembered my orders and preferences. The situation has changed!! Entire staff has been replaced. New people barely speak English and are horrible servers. They don't check on you unless you call loudly for 5 minutes. Now THE WORST THING. Last seating is at 9Pm, everyone knows that. I entered the place at 9:01!!! NO SEATING. Do not go here. read more

Just had lunch there today...it was awesome...friendly, seated immediately, served ice cold water in glasses with ice, did not rush us, service was excellent, the food was OUTSTANDING!!! I found it was fresher than any other place in Dover, Somersworth and Durham. The portions were big, substitutions were totally acceptable and sharing was encouraged. And the beer was ice cold. Quick and tasty takeout service! I went for my lunch break and got Pad See Ew to go. I was surprised that 1) they allowed their lunch specials to be ordered to-go, and 2) that it took under ten minutes from when my order was placed to receiving the food. My absolutely favorite Thai restaurant ever. I love Thai food, I really do, and I have been to a lot of Thai restaurants.. like so many. But whenever I find myself sitting at some random Thai restaurant, my heart and soul are actually at Thai Smile 2. I've been here SO many times, and every time everything is so perfect. The wrappers were delicate and the filling well-seasoned. When I asked about egg fried rice with Lap Cheong (sweet Chinese sausage), the kitchen prepared it even though it is not listed on the menu. It turned out to be one of the best versions I have had, and my server Arisa mentioned it is also a favorite of hers and her husband's. The Pad Kee Mao with beef (Nua) was flavorful, with wide rice noodles, fresh basil, and vegetables cooked to the right texture. The added bamboo shoots aren't normally on that dish, but a welcome addition here. Arisa was an outstanding server. She was knowledgeable, engaging, and happy to talk about Thai food traditions and family memories. The conversation made the meal more enjoyable. The restaurant's story about its Thai-Chinese roots on Charoen Krung Road comes through in both the menu and the service. Everything I tried was delicious. Pad Thai at Thai Smile was one of the best dishes I have ever had. it was sweet with a nutty flavoring to it. The dish came out very hot and within 15 to 20 minutes. it was an inexpensive meal and a comfortable atmosphere. I will be definitely going back! read more

They offer full service dine-in and takeout. This casual Asian restaurant serves up a selection of noodle & rice dishes, noodle soups, katsu, dumplings, soup dumplings, appetizers, bubble tea drinks, and sweet bites. The prices seem fair. The place has table seating, corner booth, and counter seating, around 60 diner capacity. I stopped by the Rochester Hong for dinner on a Monday evening. The place was very busy with most tables occupied and the counter seating almost full. I took a seat at an open high chair at the counter. A server gave me a laminated menu to look over and brought out a bottle of ice water and metal cup. I already knew what I wanted and placed my order. The Tonkatsu Ramen Soup ($17.99 plus tax) came out first in 15 minutes, followed by the Crab Soup Dumplings ($9.99 plus tax) 2 minutes after and Agedashi Tofu ($6.99 plus tax) 5 minutes more, backwards order. The Tonkatsu Ramen Soup had soft ramen noodles in a rich pork bone broth, 3 chashu pork slices, soft boiled half egg, bean sprouts, corn, black ear mushrooms, red ginger slices, and scallions. This soup was a bit warm, but otherwise tasted just fine. Crab Soup Dumplings (5) were the slightly smaller type filled with a pork crab mix, minimal juice in a soft dumpling shell topped with roe, soy dipping sauce provided. These also tasted just fine. Agedashi Tofu (4 pc) were comprised of lightly fried soft tofu pieces sprinkled with fish flakes, seaweed in a tempura sauce. This was served hot and pretty good. After I finished everything, the check was presented which was $37.40 with tax and before tip. Overall, the food at the Rochester Hong tasted just fine. The ramen could've been hotter though and the soup dumplings were good, but with less juice. I would order the Agedashi Tofu again, but try other things on the menu. The service was straightforward, though the main dish was served before the apps.
