We needed a quick meal before touring UNH, and we were thankful to discover Bamee. Although the menu is relatively small, there was enough variety that it was a difficult decision what to order. I ordered the kimchi fried rice, which was an ample portion of well seasoned rice with ground pork and fermented cabbage. I would have preferred some additional vegetables mixed in for variety, as each bite became more of the same on repeat (though they were good bites)! My son ordered the Moo Ping, which was a heaping bowl of fluffy jasmine rice topped with tender grilled pork. While it was accompanied by a few slices of raw cucumber, this dish also would have benefited from some bok choy, scallion, or something fresh and crunchy to each with the rice. Service was fairly prompt, though I imagine they may get backed up during peak times, as any small kitchen would with a loyal following. There are stations for bowls and utensils, etc., to clean up after yourself. Overall, Bamee is a quaint spot for a quick bite and the kind of place where if you live or work nearby, would likely be on speed dial for takeout! read more

Not sure how this place has such good reviews, food is nothing special. The fried chicken on my rice was so over cooked I couldn't even bite through it. The spring rolls tasted like straight sesame oil. Serving sizes were on the smaller size for the price also. Won't be going there again. read more

We got there just prior to the place closing for a late afternoon break. My husband and I ordered the curry with beef and my son ordered the udon noodle soup with crispy chicken. Since they were closing soon, we took the food to go and ate off site since it was a beautiful day. I noticed they had tables outside, but the were stacked up with no chairs. It would have been nice if there were tables to sit at outside the restaurant so we didn't need to search. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Every time I go to Bamee the food is amazing. The staff is always really nice, and the seating always has space. The menu is really diverse too! My Son and I decided to try it. I had crispy chicken and pineapple rice. It was quite good except a little dry. I thought I would have a sauce, but it did not. I asked for hoisin they didn't have it soy sauce they said My son had Bamee hang which was noodles, pork, bok choy, and other veggies in a sauce. I liked his better than mine. Mine was rather bland. We really enjoyed our meal at Bamee. Started with pork Gyoza, crisp outside and flavorful inside. Creamy tom yum shrimp noodle soup with rice noodles was delicious. Tried ordering online and it was a big fail due to some website glitches. I finally called to place my order after trying to submit my order online 4 times. The staff was helpful and double checked to make sure I didn't actually place 4 online orders. Over the phone I ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice special and Crispy Rolls. My drive to the restaurant is about 17 minutes and my food was ready when I arrived, it was nice not to wait. When I drove all the way back home with my food and started eating, I realized there was absolutely NO PINEAPPLE in my PINEAPPLE Fried Rice. How is it possible to miss the one main ingredient in the name??? The food was alright otherwise. Definitely on the greasy side and not worth raving over. I wasn't sure what to expect when I came here as I am a fan of Thai food in general but hadn't tried Thai street food and wasn't sure how it would differ from the typical Thai restaurant menu. When I got here and checked out the menu I was a bit intimidated the first time I ate here as I didn't recognize much that was on there... but took a stab at choosing something based off what sounded good. I was blown away! The food is great. There are so many flavors busting out of their dishes. I have now been a few different times and each time have really enjoyed what I ordered. Their Thai iced tea is also great. We've come here for work lunches a few times now and everyone thinks this place is delicious. You order at the counter and they call you up when it's ready, so no table service. The atmosphere is cute- brightly colored walls and lots of Thai decor around the place to make it interesting to look around. I am not a huge fan of the communal seating- which may or may not stop me from coming in if I was on my own, but with friends it isn't an issue. Overall I really enjoy this restaurant and think it made a great addition to downtown Durham. read more

The food was well prepared and tasty. Be careful with the hot chili sauce they have... It is potent. Staff was friendly and food came out quick. 10 Stars!! Bamee is unlike any other Thai restaurant you will ever visit in southern New Hampshire. What does Bamee mean? It's Thai for "Yellow Egg Noodles". And they serve several of these dishes (you can also request rice noodles). All meals are made to order and are served counter style (you order at the counter and your number is called). They have a permanent menu that you can search online. However, they rotate specials every week. Some of them are incredible and I wish they'd stay on the permanent menu. The seating is community style but not uncomfortable. This place is a gem and it's catching on fast. If you visit outside of lunch hours, or when UNH is not in session, you'll have the place to yourself. read more

Bamee is definitely not the fancy type of Asian (Thai) restaurant - it's a counter style service where you just go to the counter, pick whatever in the menu, get your own tray and utensils - however, i think they really nailed it on the food taste and presentation. I ordered the Takoyaki, Dry Noodle with Crispy Chicken ($11) and Tofu Noodle Soup ($9.50). My favorite was the dry noodle, but when you're into something soupy and brothy, try the tofu noodle soup. They have some traditional and creative dishes and even venture into Ramen- and they put out a very decent Miso Ramen- a dish I've had many times in Japan... I was surprised the first time I had it here at how authentic it was, and it's been a staple order for me ever since. Very clean and casual atmosphere! I can't get enough of this place!!!! Especially of their newest drink called Manga Way. Wow. Amazing. It has real mango chunks and makes the drink even more delicious. My favorite go to meal is the Bamee Hang. This dish is filled with sweet flavor. From the tender roasted pork, to the juicy wontons, to the fresh vegetables... it is an undeniably great dish. Another amazing dish is the Spicy Clear Tom Yum soup. It's such a great, comforting meal in the cold of winter or a rainy day. Their Chicken Larb (Thai chicken salad) was good too, except I do recommend to eat it with rice as it is very salty if you eat it by itself. I've had good service the many times I've been there. I happened to be in the area for 2 days and stopped by this restaurant. I am from Thailand and I can tell that the food here is pretty authentic especially all the noodles. If you are in California, you can find a lot of Thai restaurants that offer authentic Thai food, but in New England, delicious authentic Thai food is hard and to find. My husband and I love Bamee's hot noodle soups. So good! The place has a casual vibe with shared tables and hooks on the walls where you can hang your coat. There's no table service. You order at the register and then they call your number when your meal is ready. It's also self service at the end of the meal when you break down your dishes into various dish tubs. My interactions with the staff have always been positive. Bamee is located in the downtown core of Durham within easy access of two public parking lots. I absolutely loved my experience here- my husband and I ordered our food from a helpful server with a great personality. We took our seats and she came rushing over with a chair (as they are stools only) for me to sit in because I am pregnant. How thoughtful!! The food itself was delicious- flavorful, fresh, and worth every penny. Even the drinks- I ordered a mango slushie and my husband ordered a mango lemonade (which he said was the best lemonade he's ever had)- were great. I told the woman I had never had Tai before but I wanted to try some. She was so friendly & explained everything to me. (I was impressed) When I was leaving another employee asked me what I ordered & then wished me a good day. And the food...WOW, it was even better than the 1st woman described to me.
