This was our go to place for Chinese to-go. We are originally from Massachusetts where there is many good and fresh take out places. It has recently undergone a menu update, and last night we picked up a simple Pu Pu platter for two and some Pork fried rice. The rice was disgusting. It went in the trash. The boneless ribs were overcooked, the chicken wings were salty. 2 instead of 4 teriyaki. All in all, it looked like it had been cooked days earlier and somehow heated up last night. I see in their menu that they have increased their sushi menu. We will look for someplace else. They had no problem taking our money for this garbage. read more

You already know it's sketchy to get Chinese food in New Hampshire because something's always off, but with Oriental Delight you don't have to worry. We were headed to another Chinese joint when we took a wrong turn and ended up here. It was fate. Great atmosphere combined with quick and precise service makes it unbeatable for Chinese here in Dover. I ordered the General gau combo with crab rangoons, white rice, and chicken fingers. Them goonies are off the charts. Seriously. Dumplings also fire especially pan fried. I highly recommend oriental delight. read more

Don't regard other reviews! Oriental Delight is excellent! I live locally and have been going there for years, and the Chinese and Japanese cuisine is delicious. Their Japanese food, partially their sushi, is the best around! I've literally had maki rolls in popular sushi restaurants in San Francisco, CA - and they are on par, if not better. Highly recommend the 49er maki roll (known by some as an Alaska roll). Chinese food is great too. Service is friendly and prompt if you dine in ... great drinks too! read more

Disappointed! As you can see by the receipt, my wife and I visited on 9/14/16. We ordered cashew chicken, spicy salted squid & edamame. Our waitperson was very attentive and has waited on us in the past. We sort of ordered in stages, edamame first, then the squid and followed by the chicken. Edamame - check, no issues. Next up; the squid, my wife and I each ate a piece, hmmm...not so good, then tried another just in case the first was an anomaly...not to be. It was way over fried, if you've ever had really good spicy salted squid, well, it's lightly fried, crispy with some heat and yeah, there's squid in there. This was terrible, way over fried to the point that we were unsure there was squid in there?! Kathleen our waitperson came back with the chicken, we explained the problem with dish, she took it away and asked if we would like it remade...no thanks. The cashew chicken was fine, not fantastic, but we ate it. We wrap up dinner and the check comes, Kathleen was embarrassed to tell us that the owner gave us a discount on the dish we sent back. I'm like "really" a discount. As you can see by the posted pic it was a whopping 10%, how generous of him, now, I don't want to get Kathleen in trouble, but she gave us two egg rolls, she did not charge us for them and the owner did not no this. I've never been charged for a dish that had been sent back and if it wasn't for the secret egg rolls, I would have thrown a shit fit. Kathleen is a Saint for working for this jerk. I thanked her, gave her 20% and told her that it wasn't her fault, but we would never be darkening their doorstep again. BTW she agreed with me and tried to get the owner to change his mind. Now, I have told many friends what happened and they won't frequent his establishment any longer either. Oh, the bathrooms are nasty there, must mean the kitchen is dirty too! read more

Although the food may be good, their customer service is unbelievably awful. After getting food to go a young women noticed a strange man at her car, outside the restaurant. He asked her for money and when she said no he wouldn't let her enter her car. She ran back into the store to ask for assistance, the workers looked out the window at the man and told her to "ignore him". Which she tried but in the end didn't help. The fact that they couldn't aid a young women ALONE to her car was shocking. read more

I straight up refuse to eat here. The food is actually not bad, it's the attitude of the owner that has scared me away on more than one occasion. I was working in Dover at the time, and the owner came into my business and said "we need more pretty girl like you to wait tables". Thanks, I already have a job, and that was meant as flattery but was actually condescending. Second time: the local Jewish temple in Dover had ordered a bunch of food from here, and upon pickup, finding out the clients were Jewish, the owner went on a rant about how Jews are terrible people and own all the banks in the country and are the reason the economy is bad...blah blah blah. I've ordered out 3 separate times from here now. The customer service is great over the phone. However I only "maybe" recommend this business because 2 of the 3 times I've ordered me and/or my husband have found hair in our food. Both mixed into our rice, and found under my sesame chicken. The food does taste good, but without the hair. I wish the kitchen service would wear hair nets with this happening to us twice in the only three times we've ordered. But. This is one of only 2 places that I know of for Chinese that deliver in Dover NH and we were pretty happy about it. After picking up her food for here and walking back to her car, my friend began being followed by a man who wouldn't let her get into her car unless she gave him money, so she ran into the restaurant to look for help. They said to "ignore him" and offered no other service to a terrified 20 year old girl. She had to walk back to her car ALONE. The food might be alright, but the service is terrible. I'm a little bit country..... I'm a little bit rock n rolllll yeaaaa! O.D. does the best of both worlds with delicious Japanese and Chinese food. Since China will someday rule the world, we decided to go that direction when making our order. Crab Rangoons? Wow, STUFFED with tasty crab/cream cheese filling. You get your money's worth for that one. The Spring rolls were also to die for. Crispy and crunchy outside and tasty veggie goodness on the inside. Pork Fried Rice was a big hit, as well as the boneless spareribs. The inside of the place was pretty nice as well. This review is from a visit with my family on Christmas. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Our food was delivered fast, despite the restaurant having many customers. We started with the wonton soup which was average in taste. It was good, just didn't stand out from other Chinese restaurants. We all ordered the combination plates and a few appetizers. The portions were large for the plates. The chicken wings were the best I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant, well seasoned, super crispy and juicy inside. The boneless spareribs were good as well and not as fatty nor greasy as many other restaurants. The beef lo mein and pork fried rice were also both very flavorful. The crab rangoons were also very good, plenty of cream cheese and crab inside. Lastly, the kung pao beef was fantastic, quality beef and veggies with the perfect spice level. We go all over the country and order sushi. Andy by far is the best Sushi Chef we have run into. The grade of fish far surpasses that of other restaurants close by and farther away (Cartelli's and Surf Sushi). The hot and sour soup is my favorite which I usually get instead of Miso soup. The rolls will always hold together just like Andy's tightly made al carte items. A great variety and always a pleasure. Andy will put a smile on your face just as my new favorite waiter, I will call him Sing song. Thank you Frank for having such a nice place. read more

The food here is great, affordable pricing, good atmosphere when dining in. It gets very busy here Friday thru Sunday so make sure you're not too hungry when trying to get a table! I gave 3 stars because even though dining in here is okay, their delivery driver lacks essential people skills. Recently he delivered to my work establishment and was insulting and rude to the girls I work with. He insulted the "look" of our building, and said our business would fail. He kept insulting us even after we paid him, and couldn't take the hint to leave. Needless to say we won't be ordering lunch for "the office" here anymore. So, the last few visits have been just "ok" and I keep going back in hopes that it will improve. When this place first opened it was exciting, the atmosphere was fun and the food was good. It has just gone downhill since then, from food, to service and atmosphere. We usually dine in the bar. Most recently, we went in around shift change. It was difficult to tell which tables were clean and which were dirty, the most obvious having a crusty bowl of fried rice on it (employee lunch??). A young Asian man took our drink order, and brought mine by. Several minutes later, the bartender rushed in and jumped behind the bar to make my partners drink. The bar was just picking up, and shortly after placing our food order, the bar was half full. Immediately, the bartender was slammed with patrons, orders, mixing drinks for the dining room and worst of all, stocking an empty bar. The lunch shift didn't even have the decency to clean the tables, fill the condiments, the bar mixes or supplies. It was a mess and we felt bad, trying to keep our requests to a minimum so she wouldn't be in the weeds. I asked the male server for sugar as he walked by (our condiments were empty). He returned with a handful, put them on our table and said "you have someone helping you". WHAT?! RUDE! Great teamwork. I wasn't going to write a review, but then I used the restroom and it just pushed me over the edge. It was dark, the stall doors didn't lock, and of the 2 toilets, one was clogged. To top it off, it was filthy. Paper towels all over the floor, dust caked on the light fixtures and dingy walls. The whole thing needs an acid wash from top to bottom. You know what they say about restaurants? Their bathrooms are a telltale sign of their kitchen cleanliness. Of the food we ordered, the miso tasted a little "cheesy". Ew. The California roll tasted off, and the Chinese was just heavy and flavorless. It doesn't even compare to the quality they used to serve. We won't be back. There are too many quality options in our area. I don't need to be privy to workplace drama (and deal with the resulting attitude) when I'm simply there to enjoy a meal. Disappointing. read more

I'm really surprised this place isn't busier whenever I've been in because I think it's some of the better Chinese food that I've had in the area. Random observation: the pork fried rice is seriously the best out of any place I have ever been, ever. The fried wontons are also A+ and I really enjoyed the Crab Rangoon. Also, I think the prices are a real bargain. The only thing I'm on the fence about are the soups. The hot and spicy varies in heat (sometimes pleasantly spicy, other times burn your mouth out hot) and the egg drop is okay. Food is solid although the chinese food is not good, customer service is mediocre, and prices are solid. I tried the shrimp hand roll, spider roll, and the chicken with broccoli dinner special. The chicken and broccoli had very little flavor and did not taste good. The shrimp hand roll was pretty good though, and the spider roll was delicious, though the rice did not hold together like it should. I definitely recommend the japanese food more than the chinese. Customer service was erratic and strange. One of the waiters didn't seem to enjoy his job, and appeared to avoid eye contact whenever I tried to get his attention. The waitress was much nicer, although she has a tendency to forget a request, like a drink refill or to get soy sauce. I was pleased overall with my experience at Oriental Delight. I had the salmon nigiri, a caterpillar roll, and tempura shrimp udon. All were fresh and tasty. The caterpillar roll sauce was a bit bland, but the fish was fresh and the udon broth was salty and yummy. My folks both ordered the moo goo gai pan and commented on how delicious it was and that the chicken was nice and moist. The waitress was cool and efficient and was very helpful with the unique parking situation outside. We had never seen a parking kiosk where you put the money in, get a ticket and place it in your car for the meter maid to see. read more

I really HATE giving this place 3 stars... cause I absolutely LOOOOVE their Sushi. So amazing.. I come here all the time and rave about the food. My boyfriend hates Sushi but loves Chinese.. I finally got him here and our service was horrible.. our waitress was slow, it took forever for our scorpian bowl to get to the table (I think she actually forgot about it) then our apps took forever.. and then food came out right after the apps. I have eaten at the restaurant once and ordered take out once. Both experiences very good. They did bring my son an egg roll when he asked for a spring roll but mistakes happen. The sushi was fresh and really good and my son gave a big thumbs up to their orange chicken- it is what he orders at every Chinese restaurant! I appreciated that they had gluten free soy sauce. A small detail like that makes a huge difference for someone who wants to go out to sushi but has to keep it gluten free. We will definitely be back! read more

I ordered some General Tso's Chicken and it was delicious! As to be expected, they didn't skimp on the portion sizes. I was incredibly excited to see that this business offered delivery but even more impressed with how fast they were. To top that, I didn't have to order double the food to qualify for delivery (I hate when businesses do that). I like the atmosphere here... it's a nice restaurant to dine in. The food itself is average and I believe Saigon and Tokyo is much better in terms of portions and quality. Getting delivery was not pleasant though... I live on the fourth floor in my apartment building and there is an elevator at the entrance that you can take right up. The delivery driver called and after telling him what apartment number I was he said "you are the only one who makes me go all the way up" and was rude to me. I offered to go down and meet him there but he eventually came up. If you are paying a delivery fee and tipping (which I am a good tipper), you should bring it to the customer's door. Everywhere else in Dover delivers to your door... that is what gets you a good tip and is just good service. They're also very tricky... they asked me if I'd want rice with my meal (which I assumed was complimentary and they said nothing of an extra charge), and then they charge you for it. This place is terrible. They constantly forget things you ordered with your meal, even though you clearly repeat exactly what you want, and they repeat it back. For example, if you order Pupu platter with egg foo yong and fresh hot mustard, they will forget the fresh hot mustard, and make it seem like your fault that they did so. Their food quality is so inconsistent, as well as their prices, which keep going up. My fiancée even found a FEATHER in her food, and they didn't seem to think this was a big deal at all. I would go to another local establishment for Chinese or Japanese food, as these guys make a habit of blaming the customer for their mistakes, and don't seem to care about their poor quality. I have honestly never seen a restaurant that blames its customers for THEIR mistakes, and I order everywhere in Dover. I will never order from this place again, pick up either! read more

The owner of this place is a complete joke. Ordered take out and when it arrived a hour later the food was ice cold. I called to speak to the owner and he said sorry its busy here tonight. I asked if it was ok to pay 60 bucks for food that is ice cold. The owner says sorry dont order from us anymore. Really!! What kind of owner would say that??? Had a "yen" for Chinese food while visiting grandchildren so we tried Oriental Delight. We are big fans of fried won tons and found them good, but a bit soggy rather than crisp. May have just been a matter of not serving in time. All the meals were great. No adventure here, beef and broccoli, shrimp and vegetables, chicken low mein, etc. and all were delicious. Hot & sour soup, as well as won ton soup, were both tasty, nicely seasoned and delicious, also. We can definitely recommend Oriental Garden to our family & friends. read more

I'm a bit mixed (and sorry for the freaking novel), as I've been here a few times now and mostly had a good experience, but the last one was kind of wack..maybe I'm too fussy. I wanted a bit of salmon and some sushi rice, and there were two places on the menu where sashimi was offered, so I asked if either sashimi came with rice, and the nice waitress told me one did, so I ordered that..and it came...no rice..and she ran off to meet her friends who had come in for lunch, and didn't come back ..so the salmon sat there, and i wanted to eat it (but with rice!!)...and finally went up to ask the sushi chef for some, prompting the waitress to come check on us. I felt like an asshole getting up to ask, knowing it would be awkward for everyone, so obv overthink these things. Ohwell. Call me a total jerk, but aahhh, if your friends come in for lunch, don't make it a bad thing for other customers!! (and also if your customer asks for rice get her some rice!) She asked me how the fish was after rushing up, and then noticed I hadn't touched it, which was also awkward! Her explanation was that the sushi rolls come with rice, so even though I had asked about and ordered sashimi and rice, somehow, the notion of that not counting didn't register. I like having rice as well so the fish doesn't just vanish, which it does of course anyway...omnomnom...but yeah, it was just a bit stupid and irksome. She was nice enough. I don't mind waiting for things but such blargy communication errors/lapses around what i want for lunch at the restaurant serving lunch is just...something to be prepared for - rather more deliberate concentration required to produce the kind of clarity you'd need in talking to a kindergartener, only with your waitress. Derp. I guess I'd just recommend not going on Mondays/Tuesdays, when the super-sushi chef guy seems to have the night off? hmmm...fish is better when he's around anyway!! read more

I've had sushi all over the Seacoast and Oriental Delight's new (as of 03/09) sushi bar is by far the best. While the sushi (both maki & sashimi) choices aren't as voluminous as say, Sake, they more than make up for it in presentation, knowledge, and most importantly - taste. The prices are slightly better for rolls than Asia, Sake, Cartellis, and Sakura. While it's not usually easy, or encouraged, to sit at the sushi bars with a larger party, I cannot recommend enough sitting at the sushi bar when you have the chance. Specifically in the evenings. The head sushi chef, Kevin, is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable sushi chefs I've ever met. His good humor is excelled only by his cooking expertise. I've told all my friends and co-workers how great this place is. I've only had sushi & rolls here and not the general chinese food menu. From what I've heard it's very good with generous portions, but I can only speak to the fantastic sushi! Sushi connoisseurs and novices alike will greatly enjoy! read more
