Salt and pepper fish and chow mein

Gal at the counter works her butt off, quick service, HUGE portions.... But some people are just RUDE!! Give these people in the service industry a little respect, they work long hours in tough conditions.

Chowmein and honey prawns

The server was the best part of this experience - she was very sweet and considerate! If I was rating service alone, she would get 5 stars! As for the food, despite the large portions, it lacked flavor. The chow mein and prawns tasted rather like regret and bland grease. The noodles were very mushy and lacked a QQ texture. The wonton soup broth was more like water.

Felt like I found a hidden gem when visiting my friend in San Ramon and coming here for some chinese. Definitely a small hole in the wall place and I think considering the giant portions for a cheap price, it's worth it to come here. It'll fill you up and leave you with leftovers for the next couple of days. Don't expect the best fine dining, but I enjoyed their honey prawns, sweet&sour pork, fried rice, and chow mein. Just an honest place for a quick meal and bang for your buck! Service was fast and you can't dine in but you can easily eat at the tables outside in the plaza.

2 item plate!

Support your local mom/pop restaurants!! Whenever I'm hankering for some quick delicious Chinese food I go to Orient Express!! Of course it's quick since their food and readily available. It's affordable and they give you large portions! They DO NoT skimp! I came in craving for their salt and pepper chicken so I ordered a 2 item meal with that, half n half fried rice and chow mein and zucchini chicken but I noticed that they added salt n pepper prawns and honey walnut prawns to their items line for $2+ more. I didn't order it this time since I wanted the salt n pepper chicken but told the lady scooping things up that I vow to come back to give those a try. She was Soo nice and offered to give me a few so I can try them. They are definitely tasty and possibly my new favorite!! The prawns are a good juicy size! Needless to say.. but I'll say it haha I'm coming back for lunch another day and order those!!

I've been coming here for decades while working in San Ramon. The food was hot and tasty. Ever since the originals sold the business, I thought It'd give it a try. Mind you, I live 20+ miles away. Last time, the food was ice cold, the entrees were meh at best. Thought I'd give 'em another try since I was in the neighborhood. Even though you get lotsa food, it was lackluster and timid. Not hot at all. On top of that, I paid for a tip (see receipt) that I didn't authorize, can you imagine that? After I got home, it wasn't worth my time to go back or call to retrieve the tip. Well, that's it. Au revoir, that's the end of my money trail period. No wonder why there was no one there in line, like before. Sad situation.

Empty steam tray at 6:30pm on a Friday.

Been going here for 27 years. Last night went for my favorite spicy tofu and they said it has been discontinued. I was devastated. I just got 3 pot stickers and nothing else. Also, at 6:30, the trays were mostly empty. Not sure what is happening here.

Wonton soup! Bomb!

Holy!! Total hole in the wall but bomb ass food!!!! Tried the soups, the fried rice, noodles, beef and broccoli, orange chicken, I've tried a lot of items, I come here every time I'm in town. I highly recommend. It's all to go, there's no indoor dining. The lady that takes your order is very friendly, especially after she knows you. This feels like real authentic Chinese food, like a grandma would make. Warning, portions are huge, can def feed two normal people or on super hungry one.

I wanted to try the made to order chow fun but unfortunately they were out the day I went. This place is a hole in the wall with trays of food that you can choose from. I opted for the two item combo with lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork. The pieces of pork were definitely tough and it wasn't great. The lemon chicken was good though and similar to popcorn chicken texture. I also got the zucchini chicken and fried fish. The chicken was tough and the zucchini had huge chunks. The only thing I really enjoyed was the chow mein and fried rice.

Can't go wrong with quick and easy Chinese takeout! If you're on a budget and want tons of food that isn't corporate fast food chain, this is the way to go. I normally get chicken and walnut shrimp that I can normally split it for lunch and dinner if I already ate a hefty breakfast. Service is fast and easy, all the staff are generous with the portions. Food taste great too!

2 entrees plate - sweet and sour pork, salt and pepper chicken, with chow mein

Where every other restaurant is getting more expensive with smaller portions, Orient Express breaks the trend to provide amazing value. If you are hungry and on a budget, you will not find a better deal than here. I ordered the 2 entree plate for ~$13. The food was over flowing, I couldn't even believe they fit all that food into the container. The food quality is your average Americanized Chinese food, on par with Panda Express. You would not come here looking for gourmet Chinese food, but you can't beat this if looking value

I've passed by this place who knows how many times. Then I heard the original owner was retiring and I thought I missed my chance to try it. But I think they're under new management now. Finally has a chance to check them out. Their menu is limited but pretty standard. They had 1 item and 2 items box. When I went they didn't have the mixed veggies option. Here are the items I tried: Salt and pepper chicken 3.5/5 Taste is good but since they do sit in the tray they're not as crispy. Hot tofu 4/5 Not that spicy at all. Like mapo tofu without the pork. I like it a lot Bbq pork 3.5/5 It's extra $1 to add it to the box. Taste is good. It's not as fatty which I like but there's a bit of a strong gamey taste to it. Not sure why. Fried rice 4/5 Noodles 4/5 Standard chow mein Hot and sour soup 2/5 (taste 3/5 but not enough filling) For the price it's not the best bang for your buck. 1 item box is $10 2 items box is $10.75 Large soup is almost $8 I think ($7 something) The nice lady really piled it up in the box. You won't go home hungry. 2 boxes fed our family of 4 easily with leftovers. This is a no frills hole in a wall find. But if you're on a budget for some Chinese food this is a decent place to go.

Food made me sick right after taking a couple bites. The chicken didn't taste like chicken at all and it looks like there was rat poop in the food. literal rat food.

I especially liked how the dumpling skin of the XLB was not too thick or thin. In addition, whether dining in or eating takeout, the XLB are so perfectly made that they never break. Beyond the XLB, I have tried numerous other dishes on their menu. From their Noodle Soup and Chow Mein to their pig ear and beef roll, you cannot go wrong with anything on their menu! I personally enjoy eating the beef roll with the XLB. The restaurant can get a bit crowded during lunch and dinner on the weekends, but the servers are very attentive. Great to eat outside on a nice sunny day. Strongly recommend!

This…read morerestaurant is family owned and first started out on east 14 in San Leandro and I continue to follow them all the way to Danville every time! The Crab Rangoon's are my absolute favorite and you can never skip out of the hot and sour soup!!! Service is fantastic even when they are booked and busy they still find a way to make everything right. The pictures through the store are very nice as well and it creates a quiet nice mood. Another part I love are the bathrooms because they are able to keep it CLEAN!!! I hate restaurants who can't keep a bathroom clean but they do! I don't think the glass doors (which are easily cleaned with windex) have been cleaned in a long time. The interior has zero ambiance and seemed musty. Service was good but that was about it. The food left much to be desired. The best thing we had were the honey walnut prawns. They were not bad but I wouldn't say they were great. The lemon chicken was awful. No lemon taste and an overly thick crust. The fried rice was blah. We did have the crab cheese puffs as an appetizer which was not good. I tasted zero crab and couldn't see any either. Plenty of cheese though and I swear they put sugar in the crust. It was way too sweet and not good. I hate to leave such a bad review but that's how I experienced this visit.
