We ordered our food to go and enjoyed a couple drinks at the bar while we waited for it to be ready. The bartender was super nice and the decor was fun to look at. Old pizza parlor vibes. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and the Pablo salad. Let me start with the salad... it was a 10 out of 10! Omg, it was huge and the flavor was perfection! My husband, MIL, and I destroyed it, and I wanted more, so we actually door dashed another one later that evening to have as a midnight snack lol. The pizza was great too... we ordered the thin crust and it was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crunch on the crust. On our way home, we looked up copycat recipes to try. Just not the same... and can't wait to go back to AZ (said no one in the middle of a heat wave in August)! read more

2/24/26 I hosted a Church peers event in our Family Life Center. Almost 40 churches are in our group. We rotate every month to a different church to host our meetings and February was my honor for hosting. The group shares information on Safety related concerns, actions and outcomes. As this month's host I choose Oregano's pizza takeout for our dinner. I ordered 14 pies, two large trays of wings and pasta trays. In the mix of pies were 5-7 varieties and all were thin crust. Arrived at the dedicated pick-up window at the agreed time and the order wasn't ready. The manager I worked with didn't have any idea about my order and scrambled to review and complete the order. The head scratcher was they had the order two days in advance. My takeaway is they are not staffed or equipped to handle large orders. Getting the pies ready for the group for self serving line was quick and I had two slices of my favorite. I was disappointed in my tin crust choice which likely was the issue. The crust was a little over cooked and brown. Others said the same thing. I'm a NYC style thin crust guy so I know it can be done. My score of three is being generous. This was a really good visit. The thing that really made it extra special was the service we received. I rarely start with "service", but it was great, so I'll start there. *Service: The hostess who sat us was very friendly and personable. Our server was Lily and wow, what an incredibly genuine, naturally caring, attentive, sincere server. She checked in on us regularly, but not overwhelmingly, kept reassuring us there was no rush and encouraged us to relax, take our time, and have fun. She was fantastic, could not have asked for more. *Food: The food was very good overall. And the $5 draught happy hour beers were perfect as they were served in frozen glasses that break off thin slabs of ice inside the glass as you drink, ice cold, refreshing, delicious. We started with fried calamari and loved that it was cut in thick strips rather than small rings. The larger pieces gave a nice mouth feel and fuller taste than just little rings of deep fried batter. The marinara dipping sauce was alright, pretty bland and uninspired but did the job. My chicken parm was very good. The two large, thick, moist and juicy fried chicken pieces were very good, and covered in a yummy thick layer of cheese. The linguini was cooked al dente which was good. This was no homemade pasta, but it was good and heavy and lightly chewy. The marina sauce was pretty basic, pretty sure it was the same as what came with the calamari. One buddy got things and they looked delicious, big and meaty and saucy with a side of homemade chips. The Alfredo The Dark pasta was excellent. Chewy spiral pasta with lightly spicy poblano cream sauce, yummm! *Ambiance: this is a very comfortable place, it was surprisingly busy/packed for a Thursday night. It would be easy to hang out here for a few hours, which we did, because while it gets busy, it feels comfortable, almost like being at home with a bunch of people over, not overly packed in, tables spaced just far enough apart to give a little privacy, but still feel like you're part of the experience. By the time we left, every table was taken, and there was a short wait, that typically says good things about a restaurant. *Value: though not tons of happy hour offerings, the one's they have are good, mostly drinks and three food items. The menu has far more offerings than they used to, which is really nice. Prices are pretty reasonable for the size of the dishes. They are hefty, I love a place that serves big quantities. *Overall: this was my favorite experience at Oregano's since I've been going there for probably 25 years. The others were not bad, they just weren't remarkable. I had never been to this location before. If they're all like this now, I'll definitely go back and definitely recommend it. The service is great despite it being busy, and ambiance was super welcoming and gave off an Italian vibe. It had been along time but Oreganos can still belt out some good food at a great price. The fried zucchini was lightly breaded and not full of grease and the ranch was good. I had the Big Beef Sandwich which was good, right amount of cheese and the meat was delicious. My boyfriend got the Hakuna Piccata and the chicken was also great and the breading was just right and chicken was moist. Our server Jake was great, fast and efficient and very accommodating. I love Oreganos and it is one of my favorite restaurants- this review is for this location specifically. Sundays around noon it is fine for the most part with good service and good food, but after going around 8 pm on a friday; had to write and drop it to 3/5. The service was mid, the type where they take your order to be fast and already asking the next question before you finish your selection. "I will have a sandwhi-" "chips okay?" Or "and an alfredo the da-" "anything else?" Is what it felt like. It was fast but annoyingly so and it wasn't that busy to warrant it. It is fine i dont care too much about service, but the review is because of the food: I am writing this review from my bathroom which i had to run to directly from the restaurant is the reason i had to review. The quality is sus after 7 apparently because my stomach hurt so bad i had to cancel my car wash to make it home. The lettuce and produce was soggy, the sandwhich was greasy (italian stuffed.) but in a "had- to -scrape from -the-bottom-of-the- barrel" type greasy, not the normal nice way. I know it was what i ate because i had eaten regular all day and my last meal was 5 hrs prior. But as soon as the sandwichtouched my stomach i felt it. So beware of coming to this location past 7 pm because like a lot of places the quality aint it. read more

A pleasant Italian chain serving massive portions that would appease families and larger parties. However, instead of my intended quick lunch, I spent twice as long as I hope despite being seated at the front. My group was seated immediately and our orders were quickly taken. Highly recommend ordering something to share as my pasta dish could have easily fed me for three meals. Our drinks and dessert came out quickly but the entrees took 40 minutes to arrive. =ORDERED= *Lemonade: on the syrupy sweet side but the glass was massive. I would stick to a classic beverage next time. *Aunt Margherita Pizza: strangely tasted like soap. The tomatoes weren't cooked through and were still firm. I liked the generous amount of basil but it couldn't save the bland sauce and crust. *Ragin Cajun Chicken Pasta: huge portion for the price. This dish could be easily split between 3 people. The chicken was plentiful and tender. The pico de gallo felt a bit strange atop hot mushrooms and peppers and I would have preferred the dish without it. The pasta was soft and the sauce was savory and not overly spicy. *Pizza Cookie: better than BJ's Pizookie. The 1/2 pound cookie was gooey, warm and chocolatey. The vanilla ice cream wasn't special but I loved the ratio of scoops to cookie. Although I was recommended the pizza, I enjoyed the pasta and dessert more. The prices were great for the portions and the quality was sufficient. The overall experience would be better if I didn't have to wait so long so don't come starving. I came across a list that had the best small chain restaurants in each state. For Arizona, it was Oregano's. After looking them up online, I thought the closest one to our hotel would be the one in Tempe. Turns out I was wrong. While we were in town, my husband discovered that there was one in Mesa and very near our hotel. How convenient! We came here for an early dinner along with our son-in-law and three grandsons. Upon entering, we were greeted and seated. The host stand is unique---it's an old console radio like what was common in the 30s. I took a photo of it but, unfortunately, it didn't come out. The vibe is one of the Rat Pack era with background music featuring singers such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. The decor was made to feel as if it was set in the 40s and 50s. Our server came along shortly after we were seated to take our drink orders. We got soft drinks except for my husband who got a beer. We started off with a shareable appetizer and chose "Italian fried zucchini" which consists of "These skinny zucchinis are lightly battered and fried to a golden perfection. Served with a side of ranch for your dipping pleasure." We were pleasantly surprised with this side. The zucchini was fried to "golden perfection" and the batter adhered nicely to the zucchini. Many times this dish in other places, ends up with zucchini that slides right out of the batter while taking a bite...but not here! Three of us ordered the "bollo pasta" which is spaghetti in a bowl. I got mine with marinara sauce. My husband got his with meat sauce, while one of our grandsons got his with two meatballs. This dish is "all you can eat" but we were all full after one serving. It comes with a piece of garlic bread. The only thing my husband and I wished was different---the sauce was thick and chunky, which we didn't mind but there wasn't enough of it in our bowls. The garlic bread is quite tasty---generously buttered with distinct garlic flavor. One of our grandsons got the "zany ziti" which consists of: "Penne pasta, meat sauce and four Italian cheeses. Topped with Wisconsin cheese, baked to perfection and sprinkled with oregano". He really enjoyed it and none of it was wasted. Another grandson got the "big meatball sub" which consists of: "Three homemade meatballs nestled in an Italian roll, topped with marinara and provolone, then baked" He got Italian fried potatoes as a side. He, too, enjoyed his dish. Our son-in-law got "Italian flag lasagna" which consists of: "Pasta stuffed with our meat sauce, spinach, Italian cheeses and topped with marinara, then baked to perfection". For a starter, he also got a Caesar salad. It was a lot of food and he ended up taking some home with him but he had no regrets ordering it. Oregano's has something for everybody---main courses, pasta dishes, sandwiches, salads and pizzas. Also, there is a kid's menu. We certainly would consider a return visit during a future visit to AZ! read more

Woke up late. Tummy's growling. Pizza and cheesecake on my mind. Oregano's is just a few minutes from my place. It was a perfect place for an Italian brunch. I ordered a pizza and a salad. The pizza was flavorful with a perfectly crispy crust and topped with mushroom slices. The Julius Caesar salad was fresh, with shaved and shredded Parmesan combined with their special dressing and homemade croutons. The lemonade was refreshing and complemented the meal wonderfully. Of course, I had to try their famous Grandma G's classic cheesecake. It was a huge slice of creamy, old-fashioned cheesecake, perfectly dusted with real graham cracker crumbles. The portion was enormous, and every bite was a delightful treat. I greatly commend Oregano's for their generous portions, which really makes this place a fantastic spot to satisfy your cravings. They also offer gluten free in their menu. The traditional family feel of the restaurant's ambiance creates nostalgia, plus their effort to decorate their restroom with vinyl records and 50's music. I just went here for my birthday and I had the most amazing time. Our waiter Kurt was so unbelievably wonderful and elevated our experience so much, he was on top of everything and was just overall awesome. He deserves to be making 50 bucks an hour, that's how good he was. The food was amazing, as always. Oreganos ambiance is always awesome, I love going there just for all the decor and such. Went for lunch today with my Son's. One son asked which pasta came on the Cajun chicken dish (its not listed) our server, Diamond said Fettucini. The dish came out with penne. He sent it back (now he has to wait for a new dish as we are all eating) I asked for 3 extra plates as we were sharing, never came. We asked the food runner who brought tiny app plates, (one which was dirty). I also asked for extra dressing for my salad, which never came until I asked a 2nd time. Our water was never refilled until asked. Most of this could have been over looked, but what really bothered me, was that no plates were ever taken off our table ( no pre bussing what so ever) not even the appetizer dishes. This bothered me to write this review. Oregano's, teach your staff better. Even the mess up wasn't even really addressed. Im a 20-30% tipper and was in the restaurant business for over 20 years. I'm not from AZ so I didn't know this place existed! My friends took me to this restaurant at this location and OH MY GOODNESS did I fall in love with both the ambiance and food! The aesthetic is so unique and different from anything I've ever seen. The food and drinks were also extremely delicious. I'd most definitely return to Oreganos in general, but this location with even more reason. We ordered a few items and when the waiter brought them out he asked if we wanted more cheese on top. Two of us instantly said yes, forgetting our third friend isn't a cheese lover. We remembered within a few seconds and apologized to her. Oreganos has been a location that I've gone on occasion since even before this location opened; previously frequented the downtown Gilbert location. This review is based on an Uber eats order which I loved the sealed packaging! The pasta portion was great for a take out order. The only reason this is a 4-star is because the pasta just wasn't that spicy for being advertised as spicy. Definitely order again as it arrived sealed, hot, and overall was very tasty! read more

We originally stopped somewhere else, turned around and walked out. SO glad we came here! It was a busy night and we were confused, walking in to the take out door. After we were directed to the correct spot, there was about a 30 minute wait. We finally got a table right by the entrance. The view was amazing, there are so many collectables from long ago, it was fascinating to look at everything. There is a real old world feel inside, and it was very welcoming. There was an old musical playing on one of the TV's and it was brought me back to a time when things weren't so complicated. Our server was amazing, he checked in on us regularly. I ordered a Dirty Monkey and the Stuffed Riga Tony, OMG, it was SO tasty!!! The portions are huge, and the garlic bread was delicious.
