My husband (from New Jersey) has said multiple times that Sal's…read morehas the only pizza in Phoenix that's good - he has high standards, but I agree with him that the best pizza is at Sal's. He usually gets a plain pie (pizza with cheese), which he says is great, and I have had several different kinds of pizza during our visits to Sal's and each one has been amazing - plus, they have garlic powder at each of the tables. The calamari and tiramisu are also fantastic!! The service is always great - our servers are consistently friendly and helpful. The place is super cute and homey and can accommodate both big and small parties. It's a good thing that Sal's is 20 minutes from us, or else we would probably be here at least 3 times a week, something that would do considerable damage to both of our waistlines.

Never order just a slice. Lately, every time I've ordered a single slice instead of a whole pizza,…read moreit's been dry and thrown together. Today I ordered a pepperoni and pineapple slice, and the toppings were literally just laid on top in the center. They didn't add any extra cheese to help it melt together or make it fresh. It's like they take an old slice, throw new toppings on it, and call it good. They didn't used to do this. They used to add cheese, heat it properly, and the slices were actually good. Unfortunately, the last four or five times I've ordered a slice, it's been disappointing every time. Literally the last two slices I've gotten I took one bite, and just threw it in the trash!

Ended up getting another pie (Godfather 16"), which took ~30 min. It somehow got olives added and it looked the same size as the 14". We were fine with this, but I'd check the order before leaving the next time. Lava muffins were smaller than pictured on their website, but the center was a perfect gooey mess. It's probably better they were smaller, because they are quite sweet. Super friendly staff, located in an unassuming plaza. Super local feel, and the design feels like a retro diner.

I was not able to finish it all myself, I ate maybe half of the pizza and im a 125 lb 27 year old girl. Do with that what you will. It was really good, the "traditional" crust was THIN and the onions were soooo sweet (I guess I'm not a fan of the carmelization, just raw) but besides that it was good! It was so packed but the cashier saw a table just big enough to fit all of us leaving, and offered to send someone to bus it. They were incredibly short staffed, so she ran over after ringing up her last customer and cleared and wiped down the table for us. She was working a double and explaining that the other coworker called out, so she was kind of alone for the day. But she had an AMAZING attitude and was super friendly and helpful despite carrying a heavy load. Good lighting, they have to-go boxes in the condiment area, and it's a great place to bring someone if you want to share a salad/pizza! Good portion sizes!

We have been a few times and each time we we went we found the staff very friendly. We ordered 2 large pizzas to go. One veggies and the other cheese. We got a drink and a very light and delicious pistachio cake to eat while we waited. When the pizzas were ready one of the young men took our pizzas to our car. Now that is service. I must say the pizzas disappeared fairly fast because they were so good. We especially liked the cheese pizza. They do serve other food like wings, salads and sandwiches. Just a not they do make a 24 inch pizza. Sounds great but might be a problem putting it in the refrigerator We will return for sure. .

What I like about their pizza is not only that it is delicious, but also that it is reasonable for the high quality and portion size. I also like that you can customize your pizza exactly the way you want it. The crust is nice and crispy, and everything tastes fresh. Their wings are also great, and they go well with the pizza, as pizza and wings are always a good combo. I also like the atmosphere of the place, as it makes you feel like you are in a New York-like setting, and they have an old-school gaming console that takes you back to the 80s. The staff is friendly. I remember saying the restaurant's name incorrectly, and I double-checked with a staff member, who corrected me on the correct way to say it. However, he was not upset about it. Instead, he was gracious with me about it and said that it happens a lot, which I greatly appreciated. I have visited here many times now and have had a great experience each time. Looking forward to future visits and recommend it to anyone looking for a great slice of New York-style pizza in the Gilbert area.

We went to Crave last night to celebrate my daughter's birthday. When we were seated, I let our…read moreserver know it was a special occasion. She immediately told us the kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes (we arrived at 7:19 and they close at 8), which already made the experience feel a bit rushed. We ordered a deep dish pepperoni and sausage pizza, a Caesar salad, fries, and water. The salad and fries came out quickly and were good, but we waited until 7:52 for the pizza. During that time, several staff members including what seemed to be a manager, were loudly yelling back and forth across the restaurant about staffing and schedules. With no music or TV volume, it was impossible not to hear, and it felt very unprofessional. Meanwhile, our water glasses sat empty. I had to ask three separate times for refills, and the third time I actually had to get up and find our server at the bar, where she was sitting, still discussing the schedule. When the pizza finally arrived, it was delicious. But basic things like Parmesan and pepper weren't offered. I had to flag someone down to ask. And even though we'd just received our food, the lights on the patio were turned off while we were eating, and we were brought a box very quickly, which felt like a not-so-subtle hint to leave. Overall, the food was good, but the customer service and atmosphere really took away from what should have been a nice birthday dinner for my daughter. Very disappointing experience.

Boy did I find it…read more There are a few Vito's in the Phoenix area, and all had great reviews and photos that made my mouth water. Ultimately I chose the Mesa store because it was the original and I wanted to see Mesa. We started with a basic garlic cheese bread appetizer and it was great. The calamari was tempting but we'll save that for next time. Wife ordered fettuccine alfredo with shrimp and I ordered the usual Chicken Parmesan which came with a side of pasta. It was actually a harder choice than usual because I walked thru the restaurant before I ordered and so many dishes looked good, as did the pizza. But I went with the usual. Let's start with the wife, which truly speaks to the five stars because she frankly doesn't love Italian food. She eats it when I beg. And she loved it. She actually proactively mentioned she wanted to go back. That's like 7 stars right there it's so abnormal. I agree with her. The chicken parm was fantastic. Amazing. To top it off, our server was great and when I mentioned we were new to the area and it was our first trip she was so nice telling us the history of the original and the other stores, and the manager later stopped by to continue that conversation as the server told her we were new. I mentioned that I live closer to the Scottsdale store, and she said it's the same food and I'll like it just as much. I'll have a hard time deciding which shop to return to - it might be worth the drive to the original just for the ambiance, but I'll give the other a try soon because it was just that good! 5 stars. Or 7 if you ask my wife.

I ended up swapping the…read morebreaded chicken that normally comes with the meal for grilled chicken to avoid the oils from frying. I also subbed the sunrise sauce in and it was so delicious. My only complaint was the portion size for the price. Normally I would get to chicken pieces and have leftover chicken. I remember normally going in and being able to split this dish with my husband, but this time it came with one piece of chicken. This was a little disappointed for the price point and hoping to get more protein. The other really annoying part when dining at Vito's is parking. I circled around twice including the parking lot by the car wash and State Farm and called Vito's asking for advice where to park and was told Walgreens across the street due to a big party they were having in the basement. Lastly, Vito's has a happy hour menu, the discount used to be better in the past so lately I haven't ordered from it. However, the frustrating part is in the summer the only way to benefit from them is to sit outside on the patio. I wish they allowed for seating for happy hour specials during hot summer months to be inside as well.

I don't know the server's name, but it was a guy with black hair and a little facial hair. You'd think since we were the first customers, the food would come out pretty quick, but it took almost 40 minutes. It doesn't take that long to make a 12-inch pizza and a chicken salad. When my pizza finally came out, it was barely hot. Then about 5 minutes later, the chicken salad came. Like, really? Took 40 minutes to make a small salad. I wouldn't have minded the wait as much if the service was good, but it wasn't. The server barely checked on us, and I had to signal him just to get refills.
