Fantastic company and I would give 10 stars if I could.
I hired Transblue Laguna Beach to finish our backyard in our new town home with a very small backyard. I almost didn't call them because they are a real company with a Laguna Beach address with website full of big expensive jobs. I couldn't have been more wrong because they were professional, on time, respectful and most importantly did exactly what they said they were going to do at the exact time they said that they were going to do it.
It is extremely difficult to hire any contractor at this time because everyone is busy. I messaged through Yelp and Angie's list and contacted signs around our new community. Many were were not taking any jobs or were booked for months and some didn't bother responding to a very small job. One guy showed up and refused to say anything to my wife until 'the husband' was home. One guy showed up looked at the place and said that he was going out to the truck to get a tape measure and took off. Another guy refused to even come out and gave me a bid on the size - take it or leave it now.
Transblue was completely different. The owner called me to schedule an appointment and the salesman came out on the date, measured and talked to my wife about what she wanted and sent us a bid in a couple of days. Subsequently, Greg Shaw took over the job when the original person left. He's been phenomenal - provided a detailed design in a few days and the minor revision in a couple of days. We finally got the approval early November and frankly I thought to myself nothings going to get done given the holidays, but Greg said that we would start in the next 3 weeks. Amazingly enough it was exactly true. We started Thanksgiving week with soil prep on Monday, rebar on Tuesday and concrete pour on Wednesday. They finished sprinklers, lights and planting on Saturday - exactly as they said they were going to do.
The job was done by a professional crew. Concrete came on a mixer truck, not in a hand mixer like most other small jobs in the neighborhood. I wanted an umbrella base buried in the concrete. I figured that they would just tie it to the rebar already there, but they did the work correctly and redid the rebar and buried the base deeper as it should have been done.
Finally, the total bill is exactly the same as the original bid and the price is competitive with a couple of other bids that I managed to get. There was absolutely up selling or pressure to buy more stuff; Greg was the opposite and completely transparent with all cost and respectful of the budget.
This is absolutely the best experience I've had with a contractor. Please call them and not hesitate like I did because I thought they wouldn't be interested in anything except a big expensive job. Kudos to Transblue and I will absolutely use them again for any future job and recommend them in the highest way possible to everyone. read more
