We went to orange hill last night for our 20th anniversary. Upon arrival we were greeted by the valet, they don't give you an option to park yourself so be prepared to pay $10 + tip. The entrance is gorgeous with beautiful Koi ponds. We were seated right away. I ordered a martini and my husband an old fashioned and then we ordered oysters. We were immediately after that notified that they were out of the Filet which was a huge disappointment, especially for a 630 dinner reservation on a wed evening. So instead we both went with the wagyu (medium rare) and a baked potato. Our Wagyu both came and it was so chewy I had a hard time eating it. The manager was very apologetic and immediately replaced both with a new York strip. It was much better than the wagyu but still underwhelming. They brought us a beautiful dessert for our anniversary. The service was really great. However I have been up with violent stomach cramps and vomiting all night long, which I have to assume was from a bad oyster. So my take away is that the service and views are beautiful, however the food is going to stop me from returning. They have a giant parking lot so Im not sure why we were forced to valet? We threw the 40th birthday party for my wife at Orange Hill, and I honestly can't say enough good things about the team that helped us pull it off. The night went so smoothly, and a huge part of that was thanks to the people working behind the scenes. Edgar, our captain, was incredible: calm, organized, and on top of everything. Milton, Taylor, Krystal, and Juan were all so friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Our guests kept mentioning how great the service was. The bartenders, Tony and Juan, were fast, fun, and kept everyone happy at the bar. I also want to give a special shout-out to Cindy and Lindsay, the catering directors. They helped us plan the whole event from beginning to end and made the process much easier than I expected. Every question and every detail was handled with care. We asked Grok on our Tesla for a recommendation and it sent us to Orange Hill Restaurant. Wow. It absolutely nailed it. The views here are unreal. The restaurant sits high up on a hill and you feel like you can see everything. You get sweeping views of the valley, all the homes below, and even all the way out to the ocean. Watching the sun go down from up there felt like a whole experience, not just dinner. We shared the Dubai chocolate espresso martini and it was hands down the best espresso martini I have ever had. Rich, smooth, perfectly balanced, and just indulgent in the best way. If you come for sunset, grab a seat at the bar. It is the perfect spot to relax with a drink and watch the sky change. I also loved how they handle the blinds. They lower them while the sun is still bright so it is not in your face, then raise them right as the sun is about to set. Such a thoughtful touch. It's $10 a car and still ask you to tip when you pay, in my opinion, it should be complementary since you're tipping. There was plenty of parking but it was a Monday. The hostess is are very nice, but even though I had a reservation, I still had to wait About 15 minutes. Which was fine with us. I made the reservation at 4:45. Just in time for sunset, so we went out there and enjoyed the views and took pictures while we waited. Our server Shannon was very attentive, and so nice and brought my son out a birthday brownie. The food, worth every penny! I ordered a salmon, and it was one of the best I've ever had and the mashed potatoes were delicious. My son ordered the fillet mignon with the baked potato, which was huge. Cooked medium rare and devoured. Here's the thing. You pay for the view. It's stunning on a clear night. And our server was delightful. But the food. Just not good. I'm willing to pay higher prices for good food but the food here is just not good. I'm just going to touch on the apps here, but the coconut shrimp was overcooked & basically burnt. The Wedge salad which they offered to chop up for us was a joke. I honestly think it was from a bag. The caviar frites sounded super interesting and were awful. Unseasoned fries with some cheap caviar thrown on and I don't even know what the "crème freiche" was but was not good. Our bill was outrageous with food/drinks and not worth it. The reservation was made and we were able to get a requested seat near the view, we had attentive service throughout the night and it was a busy Saturday night as well, the food was all cooked to our request and it was delicious, and the overall ambiance was a modern steakhouse / not to those that feel too too fancy or anything like that. We attended a company party and arrived around 6:00 pm. Upon arrival, cars were being turned away and directed to overflow parking at Santiago Canyon College. Unfortunately, the instructions provided were very limited. We spent about 15 minutes driving around trying to find where the shuttle pickup was located and eventually had to call members of our party for clarification. We finally found a parking lot where others were waiting for the shuttle. A Mercedes-Benz shuttle van arrived (about 15 passengers) and took us to the restaurant. When my husband was exiting the van, he tripped on the steps and fell to the ground. Thankfully he was not seriously injured, but his brand-new suit was torn with a large hole. My daughter also noticed that several other passengers stumbled slightly while stepping down, though they did not fall. When we looked carefully at the van later, the steps appeared to have extra layers and were quite narrow, making them difficult to see clearly especially when exiting at night. Whether this was an issue with the shuttle vehicle itself or with the overall parking and transportation arrangement, the experience felt poorly managed. With limited parking, clearer instructions or valet service would have made a big difference. Overall, this was an unpleasant and stressful start to what should have been a nice evening, and unfortunately resulted in damage to an expensive suit. read more

Let me start by saying we had made reservations through an online portal and when we showed up they did not have us on the list, I don't think it was their fault, but they did find a table for us within 10 minutes as it was a special occasion for my fiancé and myself. Let me also note that the place really feels dated , think of the Red Onion/Charlie Brown restaurants of the 80s'. Also they have music playing pretty loud for a restaurant that is pricey , it does not have an elegant feel for the prices you are paying, and as others have said the clientele is really mixed, people in semi formal attire along with people in jeans and sweatshirts. We came back to Orange Hill because our first experience was amazing, but this second visit was completely disappointing. Parking was overcrowded -- we had to park about 3 minutes away and take a shuttle back, which felt unorganized and inconvenient . Once seated, our server, Lauren S,didn't offer the complimentary cornbread that every other table around us received (including the couple next to us who also didn't get any). We had to wait over an hour just to get our salmon, and when the meal was finally done, our server brought us to-go boxes instead of even offering dessert. The service overall was horrible and felt careless. It's unfortunate because our first time here was so special, but after this visit, we won't be coming back. UPDATE: I'd like to follow up to this review that I did finally hear from Orange Hill that they cancelled our reservation for Easter. It was unfortunate it took 3 calls/messages and my frustration turning to anger but they did the right thing in the end. I made a reservation here far in advance for Easter brunch. We were coming from out of town. I was aware of the cancellation policy and that i had to provide a credit card to secure the reservation. I found out well in advance our plans changed and we were going to AZ for Easter instead. I called and no one answers. Called again on 3/11 and this time left message because of course no one ever answers. Stated i needed to cancel and could someone please return my call to confirm the cancellation due to the fact they have my cc. No return call. I called again on 3/15 and had to do same. I documented both instances because this place seems shady AF. We are in AZ and they send my husband's phone a text to confirm our Easter reservation and my husband assumes it's our reservation for Easter brunch in AZ confirms so when I find out it's them i immediately call and yep, you guessed it...VOICEMAIL, no one answers the phone!! I barely get a few words out and the voicemail cuts off...can't even tell them how shady they are or the exact details of your reservation that you've already cancelled TWICE a month ago!! THE worst!!! Charge my card and they can hear from my cc company for fraud...be warned. What could improve: SERVICE!! read more
