It was out first time coming here and I must say this place did not make an impression on me at all. As soon as we walked in, the greeter assumed we had been there before. I told her it was our first time there and we didn't know what the all you can eat sushi included and the à la cart menu curtailed. I asked her for both menu's and she stated she couldn't sit us until we decided what menu we preferred. So she sat the people that came in after us......Are you kidding me?? I guess I can't make the decision once seated. We were a party of five. Two of us ordered off the menu and three ordered the all you can eat sushi. Everyone ordered and I waited and waited for my food order. Everyone was ordering the all you can eat sushi and that kept coming but it wasn't until I asked the waiter about my sushi order that he stated "I placed it on the table." Not in front of me but where those that ordered all you can eat thought it was part of their order. I explained to the waiter that more than half my sushi order was gone; that he never stated that was my order. He did bring me a new order but honestly, this is a place I would never return. I gave it three stars because the food was good but a big part of eating out is the service and that did not make an impression on me. I have not been a huge fan of AYCE sushi since forever. So I am glad we stumbled upon an AYCE spot nearby. My first order- the spicy tuna on crispy rice. 10/10. Service was great and attentive by Sophia. Everything else following it tasted fresh and tasty. You order off a tablet and your order comes out quick. Those sushi chefs behind the counter are skilled and quick! The best part was there was a dish for everyone in my family including my 2 kids. We will be back for our sushi fix! I just visited for my second time yesterday and overall had a great experience. The fish quality is clearly the strong point here, and I hope it stays that way. The salmon belly and bluefin tuna were some of the best bites of the night, with the salmon practically melting in our mouths. The salmon and yellowtail nigiri were also excellent, and the unagi was well prepared and flavorful. The mackerel tasted very fresh, and it's nice to see places that handle it properly. (I don't particularly like Mackerel but it's my benchmark as it has a stronger taste and texture, especially making it obvious if its old, common at AYCE) The miso soup was well balanced with a good tofu-to-broth ratio, and I appreciated that they offer real fresh wasabi (extra cost but worth it), genuine-Kikkoman soy sauce, and ginger that doesn't have that artificial aspartame taste you get at a lot of sushi spots. One item worth mentioning is the carpaccio. The fish itself is high quality and flavorful, but the dressing is very acidic and overpowers the fish more than I'm used to anywhere else. I'd recommend eating it with a side of rice to help balance the acidity if you're sensitive to that. With the topic of carpaccio, the second time, it did taste a little off with the akami (red tuna), but again, it might be the sauce. It was overbearing on everything but the salmon, probably because there was a nice ratio of fat in the cuts. I'm going to request when I visit next time if they can prepare jt with less sauce, or just the garnish so that the taste of the fish isn't buried. Where things fell short for me both visits was the hand rolls. My friend and I both agreed that the fish in the wasabi salmon and the spicy salmon hand rolls seemed to be dressed or marinated in a way that didn't quite fit the flavor profile, and it distracted from the dish itself. The nori used also felt extremely delicate. The rolls did not sit out long, yet the seaweed broke on all but one hand roll during both visits, which isn't something I've experienced often. A slightly thicker or sturdier nori might go a long way here. Big kudos that they use larger chunks of fish, likely leftover from cutting nigiri, and not just mashed up "mush" that way to many restaurants are comfortable with now. Service is 10/10. I'd recommend the sushi bar at least once if you are dining by yourself, especially if you have a special request for one of the chefs. Table is better for easier conversing and if you plan on ordering a lot at once. The $2.50 draft beer is my final point and something I hope they keep around. The Dry Asahi pairs well and they chill the glasses before the pour, so it stays cold longer. Overall, this is a VERY solid new sushi spot with excellent fish quality, especially when it comes to sashimi and nigiri. I am happily coming back and will just be more selective with what I order next time. I'll update this review after the 3rd visit if they can accommodate the carpaccio request. 10/10 service and ambience. 10/10 fresh fish. 8/10 on some of the way dishes are prepared. I cannot stress how good Orange Fish is. The AYCE is such a great value for the quality of fish and amount of options to choose from. Every roll I got was tasty, and their carpaccio is sooo good. The service is friendly and quick! The chefs and waiters all greet you as you walk in, and my server checked on us constantly. People also constantly cleared out our empty plates. You order on a tablet, so you can keep the food coming at whatever pace you want. The portions are also smaller (4-5 rolls instead of the usual 6-8) so you can try more things. It's great for groups, it's not too loud in the restaurant at all but still lively. I've been here twice now and know that I'll be back for more. read more

If I could give this place a million stars, I would. Think of it as a "try all the best sushi" experience. The portions are smaller, but that is the whole point. You get to try so many different kinds of nigiri, rolls, and more. I am honestly a little upset to leave this review because now everyone is going to come here and it is going to be packed. But they absolutely deserve it. This is hands down one of the best sushi spots I have been to in California, and I have been to a lot of high end omakase places. This one takes the cake. The quality of the fish and ingredients is unreal. The bluefin tuna, salmon belly, raw shrimp, and soft shell crab were all incredible. It is wild that an all you can eat place even offers cuts and seafood like this, but they do, and they do it amazingly well. Do yourself a favor and order the fresh wasabi. You will not regret it. Their sake flight is also to die for. The quality is excellent and it pairs perfectly with the sushi. Our sushi chef and server gave the best recommendations, and the staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I was genuinely sad that I got full, but I will definitely be back. We came over from allllll the way from Anaheim to try this new place, and let me tell you it did not disappoint! Not only was it cold in there ( bring a light sweater people) which I love when you eat sushi cuz who wants to eat sushi in a warm or even temperature establishment? Well other than that the service was quick and attentive we just sat in a table that didn't have a tablet so we had to do it old school pencil fill out the form style but glad they got allll our orders out! Came in for a first time visit on a whim after taking my car in to the island car wash across the street. Walking distance to lots of shops and has a clean welcoming entrance. Service is quick, my server was Serenity and she was very attentive and friendly. Table for one and got to order à la carte. Ordered a simple unagi roll with a miso soup. I visited Orange Fish at the end of the night for their soft opening, and I could not have been happier. The interior is clean and has an upscale feel. Low lighting, yet still bright enough. I loved how the sushi bar was brighter lit, highlighting where the beautiful sushi was being made. Even though there around maybe 20 tables, the 2 servers were on top of things. The manager was kind and made sure to talk to all the tables to see how they were enjoying things. Love that. Even the sushi chefs were interactive with the customers. Amazing. The staff as a whole were so nice and was very attentive. Tables were constantly being cleaned and attended to. The food itself was so good. I highly recommend the baked mussels. I could've eaten 10 of them and still wanted more. I appreciated that the tuna crispy rice had a slice of avocado which added that sweet creaminess to the bite - the rice to fish ratio was also great. All the fish was fresh and tender. You can tell they take pride in having good quality fish. The rice to fish ratio overall was impeccable. I didn't feel overly full, just satisfied. Very impressed. For a soft opening price of $35 AYCE (regular price will be $40), I am DAMN impressed and can't wait to come back and eat again. We tried this new restaurant last night and it was very good. We were seated immediately and given a tutorial on how to order our AYCE sushi through the tablet mounted on the table. My husband liked that the sushi came in single pieces so he could try many new ones. I liked that the rolls came in 4 piece servings. And I loved that the ramen was part of the AYCE.
