This is one of the few Chinese skewer places that we order through DoorDash from time to time. This restaurant is still on top of our list after so many years. The consistency is incredible, the portions and prices are still so good. My favorites are the grilled fish and a few authentic Chinese salad items. Mung bean noodle salad is my favorite. Hubby usually gets some beef skewers and cold noodles. A great place for weekday nights food deliveries!

4/3/26 Brought family back to try after the 3rd day of amusement park fun! Came by at 9pm and Ivan greeted and seated us right away. We ordered a ton of skewers and my boys loved every bite! We ordered Hokkaido scallops, premium beef, chicken cartilage, hearts, gizzards, intestines , shrimp, oysters mixed veggies, garlic and corn cheese! $300 later, my boys already wanted to plan another visit! We tried milk tea, orange soda and grabbed 2 bottles of grape Soju to down the GUI peanuts! They are addictive! So good! Ivan was our server today and was great! Parking was tight, bathrooms were ok. It's definitely more of a snack and drink kinda place.

Second time dining here and overall a good experience both times. The beef skewers were my favorite bbq item, but also had chicken skewers, veggie skewers, fish tofu skewers, okra skewers, crispy pork, scallops, and spicy pickled cucumbers (refreshing and really enjoyed). Also came with complimentary seasoned roasted peanuts, which were delicious and went well with our food. We each had a tray with a couple of dipping sauces as well - not sure what the light brown one was but I did like it. Made a reservation, but there wasn't really a big crowd when we got there and got seated right away. Food came out fairly quickly and was spacious inside. Located at Pearl Plaza, there is a sizable parking lot to accommodate to all of the other businesses.

Been here quite a few times now and each time was great. We love the food - really like the simple process of checking off few boxes to order and that the skewers cooks in front of you and self rotates. Liked almost everything we ordered so far. We tried spicy mala lamb yesterday and loved it. We almost always had the same server (older asian gentleman with blonde hair). He's very nice and I sometimes mishear what he is asking because the place can be a bit loud when its packed but always super patient and attentive.

Gui is such a good spot to go have a drink and eat. Especially if it's a special occasion or you have a large party. my gf and I went on christmas day, and it was nice to see it open. My absolute favorite thing to have here is the eggplant. It's sooooo goood. and don't forget the scallops with vermicelli! that one was also a hitter!! Parking is shared with other restaurants in the surrounding area, and they got a parking structure.

this is a iykyk place! it looks pretty unassuming from the outside, but it's always busy and lively so be prepared to wait during peak hours. tables are a little small but they can accommodate all group sizes. the menu is extensive, and the prices are very reasonable for how large the portions are. we ordered a bunch of side dishes but the standout is the skewers. you can't go wrong with any type of meat. all the skewers are perfectly seasoned, and there's extra seasoning dips already provided if you want more flavor. i especially love that the grill automatically rotates the skewers, and the servers are attentive about coming by to help place the meat on the grill and take it off once it's done cooking. overall a great place for any occasion!

By far the best Chinese skewer spot I've had. Well decorated with private dining rooms available. Parking is tough during the evening - try the parking structure towards the back! Service is friendly but waiters are hard to flag down. I always order the spicy lamb and beef skewers with jelly fish salad (the cucumber salad is a good choice too) and Dan Dan noodles. The chicken skewers are a bit dry. Always appreciate the salty complimentary peanuts covered in numbing spice and MSG crystals. Expect a 45-60min wait during Friday and weekend evenings if you don't make it in right after opening! A bit pricey but well worth it!

We've eaten here a few times now and I must say that it's one of the best bbq places to go to with your friends! They're good for all group sizes. Sometimes there is a long wait, 1-2 hour, depending on the day and time, but we've managed. Service has always been great where the servers are attentive with our needs. They are also pretty timely with taking your order, serving your food and grabbing your bill. Food is per entree and not all you can eat! They serve you some crack peanuts that are so addicting as you are ordering the main dishes. I love the skewers (beef and pork are always your safe bet), chicken does take a little long but since it's cut up into chunks, it's not too bad. The soup and noodle dishes do not disappoint. Definitely recommend getting other dishes besides the skewers, like the pickled cucumber, egg soup, and the spicy and sour noodle soup! Always down to eat here and will be back!

No major complaints -- food was great and not at a ridiculous price. Lots of TVs with sports on, music. Service was very attentive at first but stepped back once we were settled, would've been nice to be checked on one more time but it was fine. Will be back!

We went on Saturday evening, right after they opened, and were among the first few groups seated and served. We missed our spicy peanuts at the beginning (we were able to get some from our servers after we asked). We did the usual skewers, pork belly, beef, scallion oil noodle, Dan Dan noodles, crispy chicken skin, house chicken wings, and Taiwanese sausage. I forgot that everything on the menu is spicy, mainly, or at least has some spice rub on the skewers. We initially ordered the premium beef skewers, and they arrived with spices already on them. When we ordered the second round of beef skewers, we also included the mala spices, and honestly, they looked just like the first order. That was confusing, but other than that, our server was great, our food came promptly, and our water was refilled quickly.

This place is pretty good for some traditional chinese skewers. I heard this place gets really busy so we came here around 5 pm for an early dinner, but this place soon got filled up before 6 pm. We ordered an array of skewers. Definitely get the premium beef and lamb skewers. I also got the shredded potatoes because I just love that dish. They use hot charcoals and bring it to the table once you finish ordering skewers. I would say the food came out pretty fast and everything was delicious.. the only thing is don't cook the skewers for too long or else it'll be dry. However, the staff does come around and help with cooking here and there. It's a pretty nice vibe inside. They had the lakers game playing on all the TVs and music was blasting. I do wish the bathrooms had a reload on tissues because there was nothing to wipe my hands with.

I have recently been into skewers a lot more so was very excited when my friend recommended this to celebrate us finishing our Board exams! A lot of reviews talked about a wait, but we were seated immediately on a weekday evening. The interior was dimly lit and it was so convenient how the skewers rotated themselves so that my friends and I could focus on yapping. The servers came by to put the skewers on top if they were done cooking, which was really nice! My friends noticed that the same BlackPink playlist was on repeat which we personally didn't mind because they were all bops. Skewers: Beef 10/10 - Probably my favorite because I just love beef and the ratio of fat to meat was perfect. Some places have too much fat and it makes me feel sick too quickly. Lamb 10/10 - Same notes as beef! Pork jowl 10/10 - It was very well seasoned and delicious! Beef tongue 6/10 - Beef tongue is usually my favorite but this one was a bit too chewy for me. I also didn't love the sweet seasoning since it tasted like bulgogi. Chicken gizzard - 10/10 - No notes, tasted like how it should! For sides, we got the corn cheese, chicken skin, and cold noodles. The corn cheese was creamy and sweet and balanced well with the meats. Chicken skin was my favorite side and tasted delicious with the sauce! My least favorite was the noodles, which we didn't finish because the seasoning just felt like it was lacking. Overall we definitely were stuffed by the end and all left satisfied!

Gui... Gu...i Guu...ey? Gooey? Am I saying this right? "Gooey"? Because it makes you feel all gooey inside after you eat it? Charcoal For The Win Yes, charcoal. The difference maker from all other skewer places that use gas fire to cook the food, you can absolutely taste the difference. Have you ever cooked had a backyard BBQ and one person is cooking on a gas grill and another with lump charcoal? The one with the charcoal is going to come out better, trust me. Fun for days Grab a drink, and just sit there watching the food rotate and cook itself. All you 80s babies start singing, "You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round." Kids (5 and up) even have a blast cooking, with parental supervision. Exotic Dishes Not for the faint of hearts but try and be adventurous! We're talking frog, duck tongue, beef aorta, pork intestine, pork Trotter (look it up!), pork brain, chicken gizzard and many more delicious adventures!

Ask the Community - GUI BBQ Restaurant & Bar

Can I take out?

Yes !:)

This place is listed today as having outdoor seating. Is it still available? If it is, is it covered or heated? How many people can sit there? / April 8, 2023

I went a few months ago and there was no outdoor seating set up. I guess it's possible they have it up now? But I kind of doubt it.

If the reservation is full tonight and we walk-in with out reservations how long for the waiting time?

It depends on the traffic flow of tonight. Normally the wait time is around 15-20 minutes. It would be best to call to check before coming in. :)

Is it possible to order skewers without any marinade and seasoning? Asking as someone in my family has dietary restrictions and cannot have anything with gluten?

Is this all you can eat or per plate?

It is not AYCE

Hello again? I know i asked if is that $400 a fee on top of the bill or that is $400 consumable meaning our bill should be above $400?

It's $400 minimum charge for private room now, please give us a call for availability thanks 6263634087

Can I make a reservations for party of 22 people, cause I been trying to call since Saturday but no one pick up the phone? Thanks

Yeah they hardly pick up the phone for some reason. You might have to walk -in to reservation. Unless they pick up your call. Sorry not much info , but really this place dont pick up their phone call ever.

Can I make reservations for 9 ppl. By the way, No one takes phone call today?

Yes! They take reservations for party of 6 or more. Weekend after 6pm is very busy there maybe that's why they missed your call.

Are the skewers peanut allergy friendly?

They have peanut, you ask them that you can't have peanut. They give it out for free

Do they have outdoor dining?

not when I went last month!

What's a good number of skewers per person?

I would start with 10 skewers per person and work your way up slowly if you're still hungry. They also only sell in batches of either 4 or 10 skewers I believe so that makes it easier to order.

Do they take reservations?

Yes they do!

Do you cook it in front of you now?

Yes. Servers will start by placing your first batch of skewers on the gears in front of you and the skewers will rotate themselves like how you cook a rotisserie chicken.

Please update your phone number, tried to make a reservation but number on Yelp and Google not working?

Called a couple of times after 4pm, it went through once and didn't the other time. Also to note -- they only accept reservations for parties of 6 or more.

How is the wait on Sunday around 6-7pm?

You might as well not go. Last time we went we left after waiting an hour and there were still four parties ahead of us. For weekends recommending getting there at opening.

Is the colorful clear noodle dish still available?

Is there outside bbq grills to grill the skewers?

No they make it inside then bring it out.

Do you give out disposable plates and cups?

Yes, we do.

Charge corkage fee when bring your own wine?

Corkage Fee is $15 per bottle 750ml & below. $25 per bottle above 750ml. Thank you!

Can we cook on the grill w/outside seating?

Hi, unfortunately due to COVID-19 evening has to be cooked from inside of the restaurant thank you for your asking.

I am so glad we chose Hide Out Cafe in Rowland Heights to have our celebration. The food is delicious, the staff is so friendly, and the cafe is so cozy and welcoming. My brother was sponsoring our meal since he couldn't make it, so of course we had to go all out and order two drinks and two main dishes. (Thank you, big brother)! I got the Boba Bear Set $8.50, which comes with a drink and two house-made cookies, and my mom got their Tiramisu Latte $7.00, which is heavy on the coffee liquor, to be honest, but we had fun with it. The drinks are crafted beautifully, and with the open cafe concept, you can see they pay attention to the small details of their crafted drink menu. The house-made cookies that were a part of my Boba Bear Set are not to be forgotten. The cookies are buttery, decadent, and delicious; they are the perfect tea cookies to pair with! I can't wait to go back and try more of their fun drinks and maybe bring a study book the next time. For our main dishes, we shared the Chimi Wagyu & Frites $35.00, and the Fresh Avocado Toast $19.00. We both love eggs so of course we had to get something with eggs in our dish. My mom loved her avocado toast, and they were very generous with the avocado as well on there. The salad is a definite hit with us and included a great dressing on the side. The eggs were cooked perfectly on top of our toast and steak. The frites with my steak were crispy and seasoned well. I also loved the chimi sauce with my steak as well. The portion was huge so we were able to take some back home to enjoy another day. Overall, my mom and I had a great experience and would absolutely come back for another sip of their lattes and try another fun drink on their menu. We left with happy smiles and full stomachs, and can't wait to come back soon.

It's a brown sugar milk tea with caramel foam with a floating frozen milk tea bear. ADORABLE!! The set even includes two house-made cookies. WOW! TASTY!! (Important: Cash is not accepted. Bring card or contactless payment.) I arrived at Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) on Wednesday (around 10:21AM). Parking is very easy. The lot is big. However, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is very hidden. It has no visibility from the street! Staff is very professional and welcoming. Staff politely and cheerfully answered all my questions. Staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. For example, the location does not have a paper menu; all the menus are accessed via QR Code. Fortunately, Staff let me borrow their iPad which allowed me to see the menu on a larger screen. When I'd arrived, Staff asked if I was dine-in or to-go. I was immediately seated. When I'd inquired about the boba. Staff honestly told me that they needed 15 additional minutes to prepare the boba. I brightly waited. All in all, after the 15 minute wait, the drink took an additional 10 minutes before being ready. As mentioned, I ordered the Boba Bear Set ($8.50). CUTE!!! It's a very aesthetic and memorable presentation. The boba pearls came perfect; they're bouncy, perky, and playful. The brown sugar milk tea mixed with the caramel foam tasted honey-like. It's very TASTY! My biggest nitpick is that the amount felt tiny. Still, it's a wonderful memory that I'm so happy to experience! On ambiance, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is comfortable and clean. There's about 13 interior tables, and there's six patio tables. The music is slow-tempo, and the tall ceiling made it feel spacious. In addition, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) has utility. There's customer internet with password; details are available on the QR code menu. There's also about four electrical outlets. I also appreciated the self-service water station. There's also a gender neutral restroom in the back. Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) felt very hidden yet well-maintained. It's a lovely spot. Overall, I had a magical, memorable experience. I discovered AMAZING milk tea and many precious memories. If searching for someplace special, I happily recommend. 4.9 out of 5

Comfortable & easy. I did notice they still had Christmas decor up when I went, even though it was already February. Not sure if it's part of their everyday aesthetic or just lingering holiday spirit, but either way it was super cute, especially at night. Service was warm from the start. Both the host & server checked in just enough & repeated my order back for accuracy, which is always appreciated. I came in craving Thai flavors but wasn't exactly sure what I wanted yet. If you're into Thai fusion or noodle spots with a diverse menu, this place gives you a lot to work with. After looking through a well-assorted menu, I landed on the Chili & Basil Chicken Egg Rolls to start & the Creamy Coconut Lemongrass Pasta for my entrée. I noticed signage mentioning Channel 7 calling their chili & basil chicken egg rolls the best, so of course I had to try them. It wasn't just the recommendation, but the intrigue of basil chicken inside an egg roll that sold me. They came out crispy, packed with deep basil flavor, & had a great filling-to-wrapper ratio. Now for the star of the show. The Creamy Coconut Lemongrass Pasta wasn't what I expected to order, but it ended up being exactly what I needed. The flavor was rich, creamy, lightly sweet, & paired perfectly with well-sized shrimp. I've been on a skinny noodle kick lately, so I went with the glass noodles. They do offer other noodle options too, which is great if glass noodles aren't your thing. Portion size is generous, easily shareable between two. That said, I was more than happy to keep it to myself & enjoy the leftovers. Definitely a solid spot if you're in the Long Beach or OC area looking for flavorful Thai-inspired noodles. Dean by Dean Noodles is definitely a must-try if you're in the area. Thank you for the amazing food & great service!

We finally decided to try Jazz Cat Cafe after always seeing it and talking about trying it, and…read moreoverall it was pretty disappointing. The service itself honestly wasn't bad at all. Since it was our first time there, we asked the waitress for suggestions on what to order and even how everything worked, and she was nice and helpful throughout the visit. One thing that already started the experience off confusing was that we were only given the regular menu with the QR code. Even though the all-you-can-eat option is advertised right at the front, nobody mentioned it to us at all. We only found out because we asked about it ourselves, and then suddenly they brought out a completely separate menu for the AYCE option. After trying it, I definitely don't think it was worth $40 per person. Another frustrating part was how ordering worked. There were three of us doing AYCE, and we asked for three different meats thinking we'd each try different items. Instead, they brought out three full orders of every single meat we mentioned without clarifying first. That immediately created pressure to finish everything because with AYCE you can get charged extra for leftovers. I really think they should ask customers if they mean one order of each item for the table or multiples of every item before bringing that much food out, especially for first-time customers. We tried the chicken, premium angus beef, and lamb. The chicken honestly had almost no flavor at all and felt pointless to even eat. The premium angus beef was decent, and the lamb was probably the best out of the three, but overall everything was still very bland. I don't eat pork, so we went with one of the vegetarian water-based broths since most of the others are pork based, and unfortunately that broth also tasted extremely plain. The sauces also didn't help much. Most of them had a really strong peanut flavor, and only one of the sauces was even decent, but it was still pretty bland overall. I honestly don't even know what any of them were because they just brought out multiple sauces without really explaining them to us. We even asked what we could add to spice things up and were given chili sauce, but somehow it still barely made a difference. I really wanted to like this place too because the food honestly looked great when it came out, but the flavor just didn't match the presentation at all. Their soda machine was also down during our visit, so there were no sodas available. On top of that, the table we were seated at felt really cramped and pushed right against the wall, which made eating uncomfortable. The restroom was another issue. When I went in, it was dirty enough that I had to clean up after someone else just to use it. The only real positive was that the all-you-can-eat option definitely filled us up, so we at least didn't leave hungry. I just wish the food had more flavor and spice because based on the pictures and the way people talk about this place, I expected a lot better.
