My cousin introduce me to this place and I have been coming back whenever I'm cravings for skewers. Its located in a big plaza with a good amount of parking. Gui BBQ is located on the second floor. The space is big. They also have yelp waitlist! You wait to be called and you sit with a rotating grill in front of you. The workers come around and help you cook the meat. You basically just sit back and wait for the food to be done. I always get the premium pork belly and premium beef skewers. They come in four or ten sticks. I would suggest going for the 10 sticks each. The marinade on the meat is delicious. I can order a bowl of rice and these meats and I'll know my dinner with be great. There are also tons of other options but another dish I really like here is the signature meatball and vermicelli soup. This soup is big and can be shared with a group. The service is good. Overall, a great place to go if you're cravings for skewers.
Love this place so much!! I come here pretty regularly and the food and service is always on point. For appetizers, I always get the fried chicken skin, cucumber salad, and the corn cheese. The fried chicken skin is always crispy and comes with a side of sweet chili sauce. Cucumber salad is really refreshing and I love the light vinaigrette dressing they use. Corn cheese is also a must, the corn is super sweet, pairs really well with a side of rice. They also give you a free side of peanuts upon seating! I order a lot of different skewers but my favorite ones are the lamb, beef, chicken gizzard, beef tongue, pork belly, and bacon enoki. Their skewers all come well seasoned and if you need more, their plates come with a side of cumin and chili pepper seasonings. The ambience of the restaurant is dim lit, busy, filled with music and several tvs. I love that they're open super late so it's a perfect place for late night dinners, catch up with friends or small groups. Their service is always on point; they're really fast, friendly, and nice! They generally help you place the skewers on the grill and come back to check until they're done. There's been a couple times where they noticed our skewers looked off and they even helped us replace them every time. The waiters also check in on us a lot despite how busy it gets, so I definitely appreciate their service! Overall, I highly recommend this place if you're into skewers. It's my favorite chinese BBQ restaurant. Their meat quality is really good and they have so many items on their menu that I always look forward to trying every visit.

This is one of the few Chinese skewer places that we order through DoorDash from time to time. This restaurant is still on top of our list after so many years. The consistency is incredible, the portions and prices are still so good. My favorites are the grilled fish and a few authentic Chinese salad items. Mung bean noodle salad is my favorite. Hubby usually gets some beef skewers and cold noodles. A great place for weekday nights food deliveries!
Update! I visited this restaurant again with my family and mentioned I had a peanut allergy and the server was extremely accommodating. He was quick to tell me whatI could and could not eat and separated the meats on opposite ends of the table for me. Meat was delicious and the appetizers were wonderful as well!
Tried Gui BBQ for dinner with a group of friends. It seems like a pretty popular skewer spot -- the restaurant was busy even on a weekday night, and there's plenty of parking which made it convenient for meeting up with friends. We ordered a variety of skewers and sides: - Smashed cucumber salad was refreshing and one of my favorites veggie dish - Lamb and Beef skewers were decent and tender - Special pork jowl had a good fatty texture and great flavor. - Grilled eggplant and scallops were decent as well. Some items were more hit-or-miss for me. The signature chicken wings came out dry & overcooked, and the chicken skin was super crispy almost like air-fried chips -- personally I prefer chicken skin freshly grilled with a softer texture. The beef tongue skewers were sliced too thin, and okra were dry. Service was understandable for how busy they were, but it could be hard to flag someone down during peak dinner time. Overall, I'd say the food quality was okay but not the best skewers I've had, especially at around $50 per person for our group. Still, it's a convenient and lively place for late-night skewer gatherings with friends if you're in the area.
4/3/26 Brought family back to try after the 3rd day of amusement park fun! Came by at 9pm and Ivan greeted and seated us right away. We ordered a ton of skewers and my boys loved every bite! We ordered Hokkaido scallops, premium beef, chicken cartilage, hearts, gizzards, intestines , shrimp, oysters mixed veggies, garlic and corn cheese! $300 later, my boys already wanted to plan another visit! We tried milk tea, orange soda and grabbed 2 bottles of grape Soju to down the GUI peanuts! They are addictive! So good! Ivan was our server today and was great! Parking was tight, bathrooms were ok. It's definitely more of a snack and drink kinda place.
Second time dining here and overall a good experience both times. The beef skewers were my favorite bbq item, but also had chicken skewers, veggie skewers, fish tofu skewers, okra skewers, crispy pork, scallops, and spicy pickled cucumbers (refreshing and really enjoyed). Also came with complimentary seasoned roasted peanuts, which were delicious and went well with our food. We each had a tray with a couple of dipping sauces as well - not sure what the light brown one was but I did like it. Made a reservation, but there wasn't really a big crowd when we got there and got seated right away. Food came out fairly quickly and was spacious inside. Located at Pearl Plaza, there is a sizable parking lot to accommodate to all of the other businesses.
This place got the best skewers! If you're willing to wait it's worth it. If you go early or on weekdays it's not too busy. I really like the lamb skewers and their cucumber salad. I was hesitant about the jellyfish salad but was pleasantly impressed. Honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
went on a friday night at around 9pm and there was about a 15-20 minute wait! originally my friends and i wanted to go to chubby skewers but their wait was about 2 hours so we opted for gui skewers and honestly i was pleasantly surprised! the skewers came out after about 10 minutes of ordering and our server helped us place the skewers onto the rack. we got the lamb skewers, pork belly, and jowl skewers! they were all seasoned well and tasted so good i would definitely come back again. my personal favorite was the pork belly! and the spicy dipping seasoning added a nice spice to the meats
Gui is such a good spot to go have a drink and eat. Especially if it's a special occasion or you have a large party. my gf and I went on christmas day, and it was nice to see it open. My absolute favorite thing to have here is the eggplant. It's sooooo goood. and don't forget the scallops with vermicelli! that one was also a hitter!! Parking is shared with other restaurants in the surrounding area, and they got a parking structure.
We've eaten here a few times now and I must say that it's one of the best bbq places to go to with your friends! They're good for all group sizes. Sometimes there is a long wait, 1-2 hour, depending on the day and time, but we've managed. Service has always been great where the servers are attentive with our needs. They are also pretty timely with taking your order, serving your food and grabbing your bill. Food is per entree and not all you can eat! They serve you some crack peanuts that are so addicting as you are ordering the main dishes. I love the skewers (beef and pork are always your safe bet), chicken does take a little long but since it's cut up into chunks, it's not too bad. The soup and noodle dishes do not disappoint. Definitely recommend getting other dishes besides the skewers, like the pickled cucumber, egg soup, and the spicy and sour noodle soup! Always down to eat here and will be back!
By far the best Chinese skewer spot I've had. Well decorated with private dining rooms available. Parking is tough during the evening - try the parking structure towards the back! Service is friendly but waiters are hard to flag down. I always order the spicy lamb and beef skewers with jelly fish salad (the cucumber salad is a good choice too) and Dan Dan noodles. The chicken skewers are a bit dry. Always appreciate the salty complimentary peanuts covered in numbing spice and MSG crystals. Expect a 45-60min wait during Friday and weekend evenings if you don't make it in right after opening! A bit pricey but well worth it!
This is the first Chinese bbq skewer place that I've eaten at. And I loved it! It's fun, tasty, and overall, a lot cleaner dining experience than traditional kbbq or jbbq. Everything is cooked over heated charcoal so there's no flame or grimey grills. This results in significantly less smoke and a very low risk of overcooking/burning your meat. Each of the little skewers is heated slowly on a rotating bicycle chain that twirls the meat for even cooking. It's super fun to watch--dinner and a show! Haha. Another plus is that the meat comes in bite sized portions, so no struggling to remove a hunk of meat from the stick and no need for knives! In essence, adult finger food or tasting menu that allows you to try everything. GUI has incredible variety, including lots of exotic meats: chicken gizzard, chicken heart, chicken cartilage, frog, etc. I'm not that adventurous and prefer not to deal with bones, so I stuck with the classics: pork belly, chicken, and bacon wrapped mushroom. Even though GUI is known for their bbq, they also serve tasty side dishes like oysters and cucumber salad. The restaurant is located on the second level of an Asian strip mall just off the 60 freeway. Parking can be challenging during dinner hours so go early. Service is good and they kept the beers flowing. If you have a larger group, there are a few air conditioned private rooms that are nice and quiet. GUI has delicious Chinese bbq skewers, and as previous reviewers mentioned, the usage of a charcoal grill reduces the smoke/post-bbq scent from getting on your clothes, and you don't need to ask any of the staff for a "grill change". Service was fine, but probably better if you're seated in the main area. Our group was seated in the corner closer to the entrance and it was sometimes hard to get refills on water/drinks. We ordered enough so that each person had about 10-12 skewers, and I'd say that was the perfect amount for our group. Overall good, would definitely return! Just be mindful of late night rush hours since this plaza gets super busy at night. read more

We gave this place a try because it has a lot of great reviews on yelp! We visited on a Sunday evening and the wait was like about 10-15 minutes. After seated I could feel the heat from the grill next to me. I ordered a few items like Beef, Lamb, Beef tongue skewers, lamp soup, Dan Dan noodles and grilled oysters. We liked that we get it cook it on our own but sometimes I get worried if it's cooked well for eating. The Dan Dan noodle didn't have soup base but it tasted really good! The lamb soup was great too but it was too hot for the weather that day. I was looking forward for my grilled oysters but it was undercooked a little so we asked them to cook a little bit longer for us. Overall, I liked the experience and the price was decent. I wish the AC would be stronger or it was out that day... it was quite hard to enjoy bbq skewers when it's really hot. I think it would come back again when it's less hot! read more

This place is pretty good for some traditional chinese skewers. I heard this place gets really busy so we came here around 5 pm for an early dinner, but this place soon got filled up before 6 pm. We ordered an array of skewers. Definitely get the premium beef and lamb skewers. I also got the shredded potatoes because I just love that dish. They use hot charcoals and bring it to the table once you finish ordering skewers. I would say the food came out pretty fast and everything was delicious.. the only thing is don't cook the skewers for too long or else it'll be dry. However, the staff does come around and help with cooking here and there. It's a pretty nice vibe inside. They had the lakers game playing on all the TVs and music was blasting. I do wish the bathrooms had a reload on tissues because there was nothing to wipe my hands with. read more

I have recently been into skewers a lot more so was very excited when my friend recommended this to celebrate us finishing our Board exams! A lot of reviews talked about a wait, but we were seated immediately on a weekday evening. The interior was dimly lit and it was so convenient how the skewers rotated themselves so that my friends and I could focus on yapping. The servers came by to put the skewers on top if they were done cooking, which was really nice! My friends noticed that the same BlackPink playlist was on repeat which we personally didn't mind because they were all bops. Skewers: Beef 10/10 - Probably my favorite because I just love beef and the ratio of fat to meat was perfect. Some places have too much fat and it makes me feel sick too quickly. Lamb 10/10 - Same notes as beef! Pork jowl 10/10 - It was very well seasoned and delicious! Beef tongue 6/10 - Beef tongue is usually my favorite but this one was a bit too chewy for me. I also didn't love the sweet seasoning since it tasted like bulgogi. Chicken gizzard - 10/10 - No notes, tasted like how it should! For sides, we got the corn cheese, chicken skin, and cold noodles. The corn cheese was creamy and sweet and balanced well with the meats. Chicken skin was my favorite side and tasted delicious with the sauce! My least favorite was the noodles, which we didn't finish because the seasoning just felt like it was lacking. Overall we definitely were stuffed by the end and all left satisfied! read more

No major complaints -- food was great and not at a ridiculous price. Lots of TVs with sports on, music. Service was very attentive at first but stepped back once we were settled, would've been nice to be checked on one more time but it was fine. Will be back! read more
this is a iykyk place! it looks pretty unassuming from the outside, but it's always busy and lively so be prepared to wait during peak hours. tables are a little small but they can accommodate all group sizes. the menu is extensive, and the prices are very reasonable for how large the portions are. we ordered a bunch of side dishes but the standout is the skewers. you can't go wrong with any type of meat. all the skewers are perfectly seasoned, and there's extra seasoning dips already provided if you want more flavor. i especially love that the grill automatically rotates the skewers, and the servers are attentive about coming by to help place the meat on the grill and take it off once it's done cooking. overall a great place for any occasion! read more

The difference maker from all other skewer places that use gas fire to cook the food, you can absolutely taste the difference. Have you ever cooked had a backyard BBQ and one person is cooking on a gas grill and another with lump charcoal? The one with the charcoal is going to come out better, trust me. Fun for days Grab a drink, and just sit there watching the food rotate and cook itself. All you 80s babies start singing, "You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round." Kids (5 and up) even have a blast cooking, with parental supervision. Exotic Dishes Not for the faint of hearts but try and be adventurous! We're talking frog, duck tongue, beef aorta, pork intestine, pork Trotter (look it up!), pork brain, chicken gizzard and many more delicious adventures! read more
We went on Saturday evening, right after they opened, and were among the first few groups seated and served. We missed our spicy peanuts at the beginning (we were able to get some from our servers after we asked). We did the usual skewers, pork belly, beef, scallion oil noodle, Dan Dan noodles, crispy chicken skin, house chicken wings, and Taiwanese sausage. I forgot that everything on the menu is spicy, mainly, or at least has some spice rub on the skewers. We initially ordered the premium beef skewers, and they arrived with spices already on them. When we ordered the second round of beef skewers, we also included the mala spices, and honestly, they looked just like the first order. That was confusing, but other than that, our server was great, our food came promptly, and our water was refilled quickly. read more

Been here quite a few times now and each time was great. We love the food - really like the simple process of checking off few boxes to order and that the skewers cooks in front of you and self rotates. Liked almost everything we ordered so far. We tried spicy mala lamb yesterday and loved it. We almost always had the same server (older asian gentleman with blonde hair). He's very nice and I sometimes mishear what he is asking because the place can be a bit loud when its packed but always super patient and attentive. read more
Came here on a Sunday evening around 6:50PM and waited about an hour for a table- longer than expected, but not unreasonable. We were originally seated right under the AC vent, but the staff noticed our discomfort right away and offered to move us- super attentive service. Food came out fairly quickly and everything was fresh. Vibe-wise, it's casual Chinese BBQ with moderately loud music in the background. 1. Garlic Pork Belly: cold dish and a solid starter, flavorful and refreshing. 2. BBQ Wings: extra crispy, maybe a little too crispy. Was hoping for more of a grilled-style wing. 3. Korean Cold Noodles: chewy noodles, but the broth leaned too sour for my taste. Refreshing if you like that tangy kick. 4. Chives BBQ: unique veggie option, but very much an acquired taste (and a bit tough to chew). 5. Grilled Oysters: absolute standout! fresh, perfectly grilled, and one of my favorites of the night. 6. Grilled Scallops: another must-order. super fresh and the vermicelli topping was a great touch. 7. Garlic Crawfish Rice Bowl: more porridge-like consistency than fried rice, but hearty and comforting, nice break from all the BBQ. 8. Mushroom & Mixed Veggie Skewers: a lighter option that breaks up all the meat. 9. Enoki BBQ: wrapped in foil and baked with garlic butter. creamy, savory, and better than expected- highly recommend. 10. Angus Beef, Lamb, Fish Tofu Skewers - The stars of the meal. The Angus beef was perfectly seasoned, lamb was fresh, and the fish tofu is a great non-meat option. Portions are generous too- definitely good value. Parking was fine when we went, but I can imagine it being a challenge at peak hours given how many restaurants and stores are in the same plaza. Definitely a top spot for Chinese BBQ in the area. Highly recommend making a reservation through the Yelp waitlist. Our group of five arrived at our reserved time and was seated immediately, even though there were many guests waiting. For your actual birthday, show your ID to get 10% off. The marinated skewers were packed with flavor--we loved the beef, chicken, pork, veggies with mushrooms, and scallops. It's fun to watch everything cook over the charcoal right in front of you. The only item I wasn't a fan of was the signature chicken wings, which come pre-cooked with cumin, not my favorite. They also have plenty of appetizers to enjoy while your skewers cook, like cucumber salad, tofu skin salad, cheesy corn, dan dan noodles, and the complimentary crack peanuts. My family is Chinese and everyone loves Chinese BBQ. We've yet to find one that everyone like unanimously until we can across Gui's. We've tried KBBQ, but we find it to be too sweet. We like Chinese BBQ because it often uses dry rubs and spices for seasonings which doesn't overpower the flavor of the meat. We had a family member come to visit us from out of town and we wanted to treat them at Gui's to have a taste of home. We really liked how Gui uses charcoal and you can cook the skewers over the open flame, which is different from how other places do it these days. Everything was class! They serve you with spicy peanuts. Get yourself a pitcher of beer and grill some BBQ! You won't be disappointed! Don't be turned off about the location! The mall has seen better days. First timer to Gui BBQ & loved it! The wait time was about 45 min on a Saturday night around 7pm. Once it was our turn to head in, we had stellar service from start to finish. We tried a little bit of everything including beef, pork, chicken & scallop skewers. The beef was our favorite especially with the spices given! We also tried the enoki mushrooms, cucumber salad, corn cheese, fried rice & grilled scallops. Everything was sooo tasty but I would skip out on the corn cheese next time because it was too sweet for my taste. The staff also helped us assemble our skewers & gave a good japanese beer recommendation. The ambiance was chill and laid back. Kinda no frills so I felt comfortable not being real dressed up to have bbq. Over all it was a great first experience and now that we know what to expect, I can't wait to come back for more skewers!! read more

Gui BBQ is a skewer meat establishment on the 2nd floor. Order by the type of meat and the server bring you your order. Good selection of meat/veggies. The automatic meat grilling machine evenly cooks your meat above charcoal . There's optional beer/drinks order. .. great for groups, but it does get Loud in the restaurant. Be careful with your knees, .. accidently based it a couple times at the table .. kinda shallow depth .. but overall, great place for dinner read more
For Chinese skewers they're very good, especially the seasoned ones, with beef and lamb being the better two, pork jowl is good but not quite as good. Quality isn't quite up to the best of their competitors, but it's pretty close. And the spicy peanut appetizer, nom. Pricing is very reasonable, and they use tons of real charcoal - you can feel the heat as soon as the server brings the charcoal over. Just remember to waitlist before you arrive, otherwise it can be quite a wait - friends said never more than a hour before, but this visit was over an hour. You do get 10% off if your wait is over an hour, but make sure to screenshot your waitlist as proof! read more
We love coming here! We have also brought many relatives here. It's a great place for large gatherings and celebrations. We came this time for Father's Day. Just know there will be a wait during prime dinner hours. Luckily there's a Yelp Waitlist The staff is friendly and quick to accommodate. They sometimes help put our skewers on the "grill" when they see that it's empty or take them off when the skewers are cooked. The skewers are excellent! The meat pieces are fresh and huge unlike other skewer places. Our favorites are the beef and lamb skewers. They are so tender and delicious. You literally can see the meat juice dripping down to the coal. There is ample parking in the plaza and it's located on the 2nd floor. read more
Came here because this spot opens late. The ambiance is very loud and lively inside. There are a lot of tables and private rooms if needed. Service was prompt. The food was a little under seasoned for me. I've been to other skewer spots that season their meat a little before letting you cook it. I understand that they give you the powder to add to the meat yourself, but something else was missing with the taste. read more

I went a few months ago and there was no outdoor seating set up. I guess it's possible they have it up now? But I kind of doubt it.
If the reservation is full tonight and we walk-in with out reservations how long for the waiting time?
It depends on the traffic flow of tonight. Normally the wait time is around 15-20 minutes. It would be best to call to check before coming in. :)

Yeah they hardly pick up the phone for some reason. You might have to walk -in to reservation. Unless they pick up your call. Sorry not much info , but really this place dont pick up their phone call ever.

Yes! They take reservations for party of 6 or more. Weekend after 6pm is very busy there maybe that's why they missed your call.
Are the skewers peanut allergy friendly?
They have peanut, you ask them that you can't have peanut. They give it out for free
What's a good number of skewers per person?
I would start with 10 skewers per person and work your way up slowly if you're still hungry. They also only sell in batches of either 4 or 10 skewers I believe so that makes it easier to order.
Do you cook it in front of you now?
Yes. Servers will start by placing your first batch of skewers on the gears in front of you and the skewers will rotate themselves like how you cook a rotisserie chicken.

Called a couple of times after 4pm, it went through once and didn't the other time. Also to note -- they only accept reservations for parties of 6 or more.
How is the wait on Sunday around 6-7pm?
You might as well not go. Last time we went we left after waiting an hour and there were still four parties ahead of us. For weekends recommending getting there at opening.
