Im not Chinese so idk if this tastes authentic or not but definitely worth a try. The portion is generous and you can customize what you want in your soup, idk why they dont have that in Irvine location tho. I ordered portion for 1 and the before and after pics literally look the same lmao
Tried this for the first time a few weeks ago and I was very impressed! Order the fried pork appetizer and the Signature Suancai Fish, and both came out very quickly and tasted amazing. The portion size here is huge, so if you aren't a big eater, I think you could easily share this between two people. The amount of fish you get is very generous as well, and although there are a ton of visible peppers, it is honestly not that spicy, and provides a satisfying amount of heat. The only thing I would knock regarding the fish dish is the amount of oil. There is a lot of visible oil in the soup, so if you are trying to avoid greasy foods/soups, just be aware. I can't say much about the service, as you order on your phone and they bring it out to you, so you don't really talk or interact with any of the workers. Overall this spot is very good and located in the amazing Diamond Plaza in Rowland, which has a ton of other great food options. I will definitely be back!
One of the top spots for lunch in Rowland Heights with arguably the best Suancai fish in LA. Restaurant is very clean and runs pretty efficiently. Service is always on point and the waiters are very attentive. You sit down and scan the QR code to place the order. Most of the crowd is during dinner but usually during lunch it's not that bad of a wait. Located within Diamond Plaza so parking can be difficult during peak times. Food My go to is definitely the Laotan Suancai Fish because I'm not a huge peppercorn fan. I've tried almost all their soups and always end up coming back for the Laotan Base. This time visiting I noticed they had new items so I decided to also try the Guizhou Sour Fish. The broth is very delicious and seems like a Laotan broth + tomato broth combined. Very appetizing and would come back for this flavor as well.
The food here is good, a bit too numb at times. I'm giving a one star review because the cashier told me I am supposed to give a minimum 10% tip. We only ordered 2 things, we were not given any other service than the server giving us our food, and the workers were on their phones the entire time... I was tipped $2 instead because the service wasn't even all that but I wanted to tip something to be nice. If they wanted tip to be mandatory then they shouldn't have an option for custom tip.

It's a solid place and I love that you can customize what you put in there. Theres two type of fish you can add, basa fish and rock fish. Both are good. Topping that you can add are enoki mushroom, thick vermicelli, tofu, thick tofu strips, wood ear mushroom, and some others as well. Their service and their food is pretty consistent and the interior of the store is clean. I love bringing my friends to try this place!

I thought the signature soup was good, but it's not good enough that I would come back. -Signature soup $17.95 is simple - snakehead fish slices with sour pickled veggies and wide vermicelli. I liked the slices of green veggie (I don't know what veggie it is though.) -Golden soup $16.95 had a different flavor, but not as sweet as signature soup. Also had sour picked veggies, but you could add 2 other toppings like napa cabbage, tofu, black fungus, vermicelli, etc. -Blood tofu in chili sauce $19.95 was just chili oil. If you're a lover of intestines and pork blood, get this. Each soup comes with a bowl of rice. I think the portion size is so big that one soup listed as one person serving could feed two people. Service is not really there because you order on the QR menu. They just bring you the food and water. Parking is in Diamond Plaza. There is an underground lot. Apple Pay accepted. Bathroom is available in the back area.

We got the popular suancai, and angus beef. The waiters gave conflicting information about whether noodles were included (pro-tip they're not). Their version of noodles here are the wide flat potato noodles (but they call it vermicelli). The fish is also not filet style - so it doesn't absorb flavor quite well. It's a lot more tough than flaky and soft fish. I did enjoy the Taiwan sausage though!

If you like hot pot/fish/veggies with great flavor, don't miss out on Fish With You. The large portions are great for 2~3 people. Anything with the sour soup is killer with the fish. My favorite appetizer is the spicy clams. It's so flavorful and easy to eat! Parking here is terrible but that's just something you're going to have to deal with if you want to dine here.

We already know my parents absolutely adore this place, so we decided to try their take out; they were not disappointed. You don't get AYCE rice, but the portions were still pretty substantial. The fish and beef stayed hot, and it was all packed in one of those keep warm bags. The crispy pork stayed crispy too! Ordering was pretty easy, just scan the QR code on the counter ( which we've already saved for easy at home ordering next time) or order online with an app, then pickup when it's done. We waited about 15 min I think and then we were out the door. Also, as proper Asians, we obviously saved the containers to reuse and they've been great. read more

The fish itself was pretty good--tender, flavorful, and the spicy and tangy broth tasted great. I just wish there were a little more vegetables and other ingredients served with it. The menu is also a little limited, with only a few choices. We also tried the cold fish skin appetizer, but unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it. The pieces were stuck together and the texture was quite tough and chewy. It tasted mostly spicy without much other flavor. It was very hot outside today, and unfortunately the AC inside didn't seem to be cooling the restaurant enough. Eating a hot and spicy fish dish while the restaurant was this warm made the meal a little uncomfortable. I think this would be much more enjoyable on a cooler day, or when the AC is working well. Service was average. Overall, the fish itself is definitely worth trying, but there are a few things that could be improved. 4 stars. read more
I stopped by Diamond Plaza to check out Fish with you, an authentic Chinese 酸菜鱼 restaurant, and it was a great experience. We ordered the two-person serving of the laotan suancai and fish. The portion size was very generous, and the fish itself was really fresh and delicious. We also decided to try the crispy pork and the squid skewers, and both of those tasted really good as well. The restaurant has a great atmosphere. It's a very chill, relaxed place, and they were playing nostalgic Chinese music while we ate, which made for a really comfortable vibe. Overall, it's a spot with solid, authentic food and great portions. If you're looking for a good meal in the plaza, I highly recommend giving it a try. read more

I have always kind of wanted to try this place out but have seen lines and the store is always busy. But on a fun night recently was able to have this for dinner. The place is super packed with all the tables and chairs filled with people enjoying this fish. It has many locations all across the world but this was my first time having this style of fish soup. It's a little sour and a little spicy with what I would say is sort of like a mustard flavor and I am pretty sure not everyone is going to like it but I thought this was actually pretty nice. You can order different sizes based on the number of people you have. Tonight's meal we had a party of four and shared two different types of soup bases with a few different sides. It came super quick and I would suggest getting a bowl of rice with the fish. So if you want to try something different and you don't mind bold yet sour and spice than this will be for you! read more

I don't think I've had this kind of soup before but it's delicious! The soup has that deep flavor broth, unique and authentic. The portions are huge with affordable prices. The only thing not very much to my liking is the soup leans too oily. However, it is packed with flavor and ooh I actually enjoyed my tangy lemon bowl. Menus are by QR code each table and you order directly from your phone. The bill is shared by table which makes it easy. This spot is tucked away at Yes Plaza so there will be lots of parking but can be a little difficult on rush hours. Overall, a solid spot with bold, comforting flavors and generous portions. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu. read more

This place is so amazing! I dont usually like fish but due to the popularity i knew i had to try this place. My friend and I got the one person portion which is enough to share for two people. The fish is super tender and the flavor is great! There was also plenty of veggies and noodles. Price is very reasonable so I highly recommend this place. read more

I have been visiting Fish With You since the day they first opened about a year ago. The lines were crazy at the beginning, but the turnover was always fast, which made the wait manageable. No waiting in line in most of my recent visits. Their specialty is sliced fish served in a variety of soup bases, though they also offer beef and a few small side dishes. Personally, I always come back for the fish, and it's flavorful without feeling too heavy, making it a great option when you want something satisfying but not greasy. They offer two types of fish, and I highly recommend paying a little extra to upgrade to the black fish. The regular option uses regular frozen fish, which tend to be mushy and lack texture, while the black fish has a much better bite and overall quality. I have tried most of their soup flavors, but I keep coming back to the tomato based soup when I want something lighter and healthier. The other spicy or suancai (pickled mustard greens) soups are also tasty, though they're more oily and have stronger, more overpowering flavors, and it's better as an occasional choice. After choosing your fish and soup base, you can select two items to cook together in the soup. When dining in, they also provide unlimited white rice, which is a nice bonus if you come with a big appetite. I have m heard that their soup bases are pre made, packed, and reheated in the restaurant, but as long as food safety isn't an issue, I don't mind. It actually helps them serve food quickly, which is a plus. Overall, Fish With You is a good spot for a simple, quick, Chinese influenced fish soup meal, especially when you're craving something comforting yet not too heavy or simply want to eat something hot/soup on a cold day. read more
There was about a 10 minute wait for a table on a Sunday evening. We got the signature suan cai yu dish. We read reviews stating the small size was enough for two, but decided to go for the larger size. We actually felt the larger size was good for two adults with normal appetite. The dish felt light with all the vegetables and boiled fish. It wasn't that spicy (no customization of spice level) but did have a mild mala numbing sensation. It comes with unlimited rice - just ask the servers if you need a refill. Overall, it was a satisfying meal that was hearty and light. We would definitely consider coming back. read more

Such an affordable fish soup. I have came here twice already in 1 month. Service was good, both times I went. It wasn't crowded at the times we were there and on the table there is a QR code to order. First time I came here was with my friends and shared for the 3 of us the signature Suancai Fish, fried pork and fried fish. All the dishes were really good and it filled us up. We did prefer the fried fish instead of the pork. And make sure to ask for the chilli powder for the fried food. Then I came back with the hubby and got the Signature Suancai and Tangy Lemon fish. Both was good but I still prefer the signature. Even tho there is dried chillies and peppercorn on the soup, it wasn't that spicy. More on the mild side. Definitely be coming back to try other flavors. read more
Great experience overall and I have been quite a few times. Wait is usually less than 30 minutes even when it was busier, and they are usually busy during dinnertime. You have to go in person to add yourself to a waitlist and they will text you when a table is ready. The restaurant is well-lit, maybe too well lit lol. I would prefer if it wasn't so bright in there, but perhaps that is how they get people to leave right when they are done. It seems the table turnover is high, which makes sense because the food is served quickly and the staff are efficient in picking up dishes and trash from the table as you are dining. The food is solid and the portions are good. The bowls make it look like there is too much food but they are more shallow than meets the eye. Their signature suancai & fish is solid. Spicy, tart, so much flavor. Love this with the fish and also beef added. Recently I tried the royal tomato fish and it is a new favorite! It's rich and actually full of tomato flavor, and more thick than watery. The only thing I can think of is when calling in to check on how busy the restaurant was one time, customer service could have been friendlier. 4.5 I wish it was a bit more comfortable in the restaurant with the lighting but I get why! read more

Fish Soup Specialty Randomly walked into this eatery while craving hot soup after discovering that my favorite hot pot place next door had closed. I had passed by this eatery before and finally decided to give it a try. Most of the soups on the menu were spicy, but I prefer something milder, so I ended up ordering the tomato fish soup. The tomato soup base was flavorful, comforting, and not too heavy. The meal came with a bowl of rice and two side ingredients to add to the soup besides the fish. I chose bean curd rolls and mushrooms. It was tasty, satisfying, and a pleasant surprise overall. The base price of $14.95 was reasonable for the portion and quality. Since I prefer black fish, there was an extra $3 charge, bringing the total to $17.95. The place was clean, and the servers were very nice and welcoming. But for the lack of less spicy soup option one star deducted. read more
The service was so quick and attentive throughout the meal! We visited a bit later in the evening and luckily just missed the main dinner crowd. We were glad we were seated immediately and shown how to order. When you dine in, you're directed to scan a QR code to order and I personally think it's less stressful than trying to quickly decide on a menu item as a server waits for you. They have a variety of soups and two size options. We ordered the golden soup with basa fish. It was perfectly numbingly spicy with the tang of suancai. This is a great bang for one's buck meal option because the 2 person meal is quite large and just a little over $30 with our add-ons. read more
I would say this place has a very acquired taste! Make sure you like mala numbing spice, Chinese aromatics, and pickled vegetables !!! Even if you don't like fish, you can substitute for beef, but the aromatics are there and the aromatics are strong!!! That being said, I really did enjoy the signature suan cai fish. It actually wasn't spicy at all, I'd say a slight mild at best, just peppery/numbing if you bit into one of the peppercorns. It comes with snakehead fish (very tender, smooth), thick glass noodles, celtuce, and A LOT of pickled vegetables! The soup is oily but drinkable. The soup goes really well with rice and the small portion can easily feed 2 people. The Super Angus beef menu item is the beef equivalent and comes with 3 flavor options: tomato, golden, and laotan. We asked for their recommendation and they told us that golden is more sour and laotan is more salty, so we ordered the laotan. It's basically the signature soup (or VERY VERY similar) with more of a bitter aftertaste. Soup base wise we liked the signature fish one more. Next time we'd skip the beef altogether though. It wasn't memorable. We ordered one of their appetizers, the chive roll and it is SO GOOD!! It comes out freshly fried (kind of oily but eh we knew what we were getting into), piping out and delicious. I believe it's fish paste (but could be shrimp paste) and had a bunch of chives and actual shrimp inside too. Service was fast and efficient and they are good at filling up the water canister for the table and bringing extra napkins. The small size order comes with 1 bowl of rice. A large will come with 2 bowls of rice included. Each additional bowl of rice is $2. It's located in Diamond Plaza so parking is hit or miss depending on the day. A quick review Overall the ambiance is loud and bright when the restaurant is busy- which are most days except for later in the day on the weekdays Service is quick, with a service counter Food is fresh, vibrant and delicious. Very flavorful with lots of color and spices. Highly recommend the original dish with the snake fish. Very tasty and honestly addicting. They have unlimited rice when you eat there and their rice is fresh and flavorful as well. IYKYK Definitely a go to place for me. read more

However, they are preparing finely crafted dishes, specializing in seafood. My wife & I ordered their, "Signature Suancai" soup. It had a good portion of fresh fish, pickled vegetables and a very smooth and not too spicy fish broth. Now, if this was just a fast food place, they would simply dish out prepared soup and condiments out of some cans in the mass production style. But you can tell that they're taking their time and care for each dish when you enjoy the finished result. You order by scanning a QR code at your table, and you can choose from either an English or Chinese menu from your phone. The cute thing about their menu platform is that if you need service, you simply tap the waiter icon on your phone. The image on the menu indicates a charge of $0.00 for waiter service with a smile, and is also reflected on the final receipt. After tapping the service icon on your phone, a waiter or waitress comes to your table almost immediately. Pretty clever way to get the attention of the staff. (I'm pointing this out since many Chinese restaurant reviews on Yelp include comments on poor service. You won't have that problem here, as long as you remember to tap the service icon on your phone.) The establishment decor is very simple and functional. The customer demographics cover from individual diners, young couples to families, all seeming to savoring the food. Yumm! We ordered three items. The crispy pork, green pepper sichuan and the signature! You must get the crispy pork! It's a staple to the dish, so crispy. Also I enjoy the unlimited amount of rice and the service size was huge for the price. I enjoyed both sichuan dishes but I personally liked the signature a bit more due to the slightly sour taste! I also thought it would have been nice if we ordered one beef dish and one fish dish for variety next time, since the fish for both dishes tasted the same. The staff were really attentive and it was easy to order online on the app. Overall great experience! read more
Parking is in a plaza, and service is nice. You get directed to a table and order off a QR code. We got: 9/10 Sauerkraut fish ($17.95): Really liked that the peppercorn wasn't in small pieces so we could drink the soup without worrying about biting into one every second. Fish was delicious and soup was the perfect spice. There's no option to make it spicier but I would recommend spice lovers asking them since it's not spicy at all. Fish with You is a delicious spot for quick Szechuan soup to satisfy the craving! I have been here about 6 times and have even ordered soup to go. I can say that the quality for both dine in and to-go are the same! Also a side note on to-go orders, is that the restaurant gives you a nice bag to hold the soup in and because the soup has oil, it keeps the dishes naturally hot for long periods of time. I even door dashed it and an hour later the soup was still hot! I used to order the Signature Suancai and Fish soup which was good and had deep flavor and spice, but it had too much peppercorn for my taste which made me look for something else. I now order the Green Szechuan Suancai and Fish and the flavors and spice are just perfect! It balances the tanginess and spice very well! When you order a soup, you are asked to select a side and I always opt for the Enoki Mushroom - absolutely delicious! The soup also comes with thick, wide cut vermicelli noodles which add texture and fun when slurping. My girlfriend sometimes refuses to get Szecuan soup at other places just do this noodle alone! Speaking of girlfriend, she orders the Tangy Lemon Fish and it's very good if you're looking for a more tangy soup! Still packs the same flavor punch, and isn't incredibly sour. The serving size is also perfect for 1 person (see the photos) and you will be full when leaving, especially with rice being served on the side. Its located in Diamond Plaza, Rowland Heights and if you've been here, you know the traffic and parking can be a nightmare... There is lower level parking so if you can snag a spot, then definitely get it since parking on the upper level is tight and busy. This chain is apparently really popular in China. They specialize in fish soup. I'm only assuming that the flavors could be way different, but based on my order, the flavors and aromas have a familiar sourness and spiciness to it. Service was helpful and efficient. I got seated pretty much right away (I was here by myself), even though the place was packed with a lively vibe because it was prime dinner time. The portions are pretty generous. I ordered the regular Signature Suancai & Fish, which comes with rice. And I'm not a small person, but this was two meals for me. (Maybe the orders are designed for two people, haha). For me the spice level was still tolerable. I was sweating a bit but had some extra napkins to help. The flavors were really good and the soup had plenty of fish and veggies. I also ordered some of the fried sweet potato balls as a side to snack on. They were also tasty. The parking lot was pretty large and I was able to find parking right away, but it may be luck of the draw because this strip mall seems to be always busy with very popular eateries in the area. read more
