One thing to note: rice or noodles are not included with your selections unless you order them separately or choose them as one of your items--and personally, I didn't find that option worth it. Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill. The food does not taste as good as it used to, and it feels like they are taking shortcuts in the kitchen. The dishes no longer have that proper wok hei flavor, and the food tasted bad on my recent visit. What made the experience even worse was the service. The staff were rude, dismissive, and acted annoyed that customers were even there. One of the girls, the one with the ponytail, was especially rude and needs to learn basic manners. Another staff member was also unfriendly and gave attitude the entire time. I also did not appreciate being pressured about tipping. A tip should be optional and based on good service. If the service is poor, customers should not be made to feel uncomfortable or confronted over it. On top of that, they add extra charges when using a credit card, including a fee if you spend under $30. That already feels frustrating, but the bigger issue is the attitude and poor treatment from staff. Customers are the reason businesses stay open. No one is asking to be treated like royalty, but people come in to enjoy a meal and should at least be treated with basic respect. If I am going to be ignored, rushed, and given attitude, I would rather stay home and eat in front of my TV. The parking is big so plenty of spaces for parking but 1st comes 1st choice. The place is more of hot foods to go but they do have several tables for dine-in. Service is nice and friendly. They do have special deals for dine-in $12 for a dozen of dishes such as sweet & sour pork, Singapore noodle, etc. And 2 dishes for $7.99 with rice for to go. Plenty of choices. The wonton noodle soup is huge, the wontons are big filling and at least 6-8 pieces and the noodle is great. We ordered 3 dishes and 2 side dishes and we have plenty of left over for 2 lunches. I've bought takeout from this restaurant twice, and both times, the half roast duck they provided was about 70% duck neck and bones with hardly any meat. Yet, they still charge around $18 for half a duck. This way of doing business is outright deceiving customers. On top of that, the staff's attitude is impatient and unfriendly. We decided to get the bento without the rice and it is still the same price and same portions. One item for $6.99, two for $7.99, and three for $8.99. We got three three items bento, bean string beans with beef, pork chop, salt and pepper pork, and fish dish. We didn't want to wait for rice so we got the bento without the rice. We randomly found this place as family passed by it and we were originally coming for the Chinese BBQ. We noticed on the sign that they offered an all day 11.99$ but you must dine in to receive that price. We ordered steamed chicken, sweet and sour pork, pork hock, and house special eggplant. With this deal they also included a bowl of white rice but for the steamed chicken it didnt come with it. The food came out at a decent rate. The steamed chicken tasted pretty good and it wasnt dry, the sweet and sour pork was drenched in the sauce and its a little too overwhelming for me, I rather them either put the sauce on side to dip it or less of the sauce, or if they had an option of salt and peeper pork with a dip of sweet and sour, it would have been better. The pork hock was a decent size and not too fatty unlike other chinese restaurants. Lastly, the house special eggplant did taste good but I wish they added some protein in it to balance the flavors, but overall taste of it was good. It was pretty clean in there and was updated, the staff cleaned up tables pretty quickly. The only factor was at the end of my transaction, one of the staff members hovered our table asking for a tip even though tips are optional. They were pressuring us and made me feel uncomfortable. I stood by the counter waiting to be served, then this guys walks in that they knew gets served first, they spoke the same dialect. Avoid this place if you can, all the bad reviews for a reason. Woah. Not sure about the horrible one-star ratings but I can only speak about our experience. The parents and I were actually heading to the food court but dad's fave station appears to have closed down. Time for an adventure dice roll. We found this place nearby and decided to try. We ordered the wonton soup, duck with rice and the clay pot pork. Everything was delicious. Popping flavors and a special shout out to the juicy and flavorful duck. So good that we ordered a whole roast duck one week later for a family birthday and it was the highlight of our meal. There is plenty of parking but there are only a few tables in a sparsely decorated interior, which is weirdly broken up by a queue in the center specifically for take-out. I found Yummy BBQ on a Wednesday afternoon looking to try some more Cantonese Barbecue in the Rowland Heights area. On Yelp, the restaurant does not appear to have many reviews and sits at a modest 3 star rating. But looking at the pictures of the food, each dish seemed to be pretty high in quality. With that, I decided to give them a try and compare to the other Cantonese BBQ places in the San Gabriel Valley. Looking at the variety of options on the menu, I decided to order a Roasted Duck and Barbecued Pork over Rice which was $19.99 at the time of this review. Opening the box of food, I was happy with the amount of meat inside. Lining the bottom was a generous portion of rice. On this layer were two pieces of green choy vegetables, about 9-10 pieces of barbecued pork, and 9-10 pieces of roast duck. With the amount of meat inside the box, I was able to feel full after eating all of the contents inside. Each piece of meat was large and thickly cut which added to the appeal of the dish. For $20 in the Rowland Heights area, the dish can be a little pricey when compared to other areas. And with the amount of rice given, this barbecue combination can definitely seem heavier on the carbohydrates side. But looking at price to portion as a whole, it was fair for the entire Rowland Heights area. Of anything to say about the dish, the taste was definitely the biggest highlight! The choy given was moist, fresh, and lightly crunchy which added a neutral break to the barbecued flavors. For next, the roast duck was succulent near the skin and rich in fiber which made the meat retain a savory flavor. I particularly liked how both thick and thin pieces were given which created a mix in the different levels of fat and different levels of flavor. Not only was the duck delicious, but the barbecued pork was also some of the best I've had in the area. The pieces of pork had a similar sweet taste to the majority of other places in the area. But what really made this barbecued pork stand out is the quality of the meat. Each piece stood out in that they were soft, mildly chewy, and yet still retained the smokey sweetness. Barbecued pork can become dry easily, so it was very impressive to see how well Yummy BBQ handled the meat. Straight to the point, Yummy BBQ easily earns a 4 star rating in my eyes. The portion of food was overall good and the taste of the meat was both authentic and flavorful. If anything I could say, the price might be a tad more expensive than other Cantonese BBQ places in the area. However, the food was definitely worth the extra expenditure. In all, I would be happy to call Yummy BBQ a hidden gem and would definitely come back to try more dishes in the future! read more

This reminds me of a hole in the wall kind of Asian restaurant. The food is ok. However, the customer service is something to be said - we decided to dine in and the server lady was so rude to my grandma. My grandma is hard of hearing and the server was explaining the details of their promotion of "spend $50, get one dish free"...my grandma was having difficulty hearing her (she forgot her hearing aids). She told the server she can't hear very well. My grandma was asking her some questions and the server lady literally said "old lady, you're confused" and my grandma apologized and said "sorry I can't really understand." And the server responded with "I'm speaking in regular people's tongue." Sooooo rude. What the heck? I even forgot I had written a draft of this review many many months ago, and happened to come across this draft again. We had a good yellow chicken and BBQ pork rice plate along with fish fillet porridge. Everything tasted very good and all the sauces were given. Iced lemon tea was good. When other customers came in, one of the staff members spoke to me in a very rude and disrespectful tone, ordering me to get up and give up my seat to others. The way they spoke was extremely arrogant and offensive. I argued with that staff member, and another employee then stepped in, implying that I could continue to sit since I looked tired, possibly assuming I was a construction worker. In the end, I decided to cancel my order, as anyone with basic decency would understand why I no longer wanted to eat there. However, the staff questioned my decision and initially refused to issue a refund because the food had already been prepared. This made me even more upset and frustrated. After some back and forth, they reluctantly processed the refund. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of respect and basic courtesy shown by the staff. Yummy BBQ quietly snuck into the strip shopping center in Rowland Heights where GW Supermarket is located while I was away the past 2 weeks. They are a Cantonese BBQ restaurant serving the usual Cantonese favorites like roast duck, roast pork and bbq pork (char siu). They have a full kitchen for dishes that you order off their menu for both take out and dine in service. Their menu is pretty extensive with foods likes soup noodles, chow mein, chow fun, fried rice, and cooked dishes. One of the posters on their window shows 2 stir fried lobsters for $39.99. On my first time there, I asked for 1/2 a pound of the the roast pork. The meat man was close and gave me 3/4 lbs of the fore leg meat. The meat was seasoned nicely and had a flavor that both my wife and I liked. Parts of the skin were crunchy. But, there were parts that did not get crisp. I probably would've liked the pork belly more. But, it was good enough for me to give them another try a few days later when I tried their bbq pork fried rice and poached chicken. The fried rice came in a big round box and had enough for two meals. It was a good fried rice. The chicken was good and flavorful. Their ginger scallion oil made the chicken taste even better. The duck that we ordered tonight was plump and flavorful. Prices seem reasonable for 2023. If you order online, the prices online are a tad higher than if you called or went in. The service was fast but rush on my first visit. On the 2nd visit, when I got there yesterday to pick up my turkey, I saw a group of people were standing on the left close to the cashier and there was a queue nearby the entrance. I wasn't sure the line was for pick up so I asked the server. She was a bit rude and said yes everyone lined up there even for pick up orders. I know that they were busy but her attitude was not that good and gave me false information. A customer was so nice and helpful and he told me that I didn't need to line up for pick up turkey coz we already paid in full. He quietly told me that the lady didn't know anything.
