We ordered the wonton and house fish ball soup and found two little hairs in our soup...yuck.

We order uber eats delivery whenever we want congee or Hongkong style food. I don't know exactly where the actual restaurant is. We have tried different kinds of congee, I like the fish one the most, hubby enjoys the century egg and lean pork one of course. We also like the flavorful wings and fish ball soup. The portions are quite large and prices are very reasonable. I like to get the very refreshing chrysanthemum tea too. The delivery can take very long time on weekends though. Nonetheless, this is a solid place for comfort Hong Kong style food delivery!

We just tried The Congee in Rowland Heights, as this is the new location. It's located inside the Yes Plaza on Colima and Fullerton. We used to go to the one in Alhambra a long time ago. The place was simple and small, and it's more like for to go. We chose to dine in before going to the movies while my daughters were waiting for their orders at the Boba place next door. We did not try their congee today, but we were craving the wonton noodles. We also ordered the Special Pan Fried Rolls and a chrysanthemum tea. Shrimp wonton noodles in soup ($13.75) - The portion size was big, and the shrimp wonton was huge. The wonton noodles were mediocre. It was a bit on the soft side, and the noodle texture was not what I wanted. (8 out of 10) Special Pan Fried Rolls ($10.75) - the portion was good, but it tasted a bit bland. I would rather order the pan-fried rolls at the DFC instead. The flavor was lacking. I wish that they had sweet soy sauce and the peanut butter sauce. We won't order it again. (7 out of 10) Chrysanthemum Tea ($2.95?) - It tasted very so-so, not sweet at all and bland, and it had a very light flavor of Chrysanthemum. (7 out of 10) Pros: Fast and good service, big portion Cons: They used disposable bowls and utensils, and the food was ok I was a bit disappointed with their overall food and drink, so it's only 3 stars for me. I may try their congee next time, but not the pan-fried rolls and herbal tea.

Yummy food. It's located in the corner of a strip mall. We have porridge pan fried chow fun with beef and Chinese broccoli. Everything was delicious. I bought more to go.

Very Hong Kong style , freely made , very hot and delicious, we will be back to more .

A little hidden food court. The pork liver congee and chicken wings are excellent! I'll definitely come back for these. I think the wings would be great to take out and enjoy with a bottle of beer. My picky-eater husband said these are the best wings he's had on the West Coast so far. What!?

After I ordered, in less than ten minutes I was served a hot beef stew with noodles. The dark brown beef stew was delicious! They serve you bite size chunky, and fat beefy parts that add to the flavor and half noodles. Was surprisingly filling, it's perfect ratio for one person.

Very traditional and authentic Cantonese style congee and noodle. Herbal tea is good for lower the heat level of body. Worth to try again.

My daughter I ordered 3 separate dishes to share and my favorite was the Baked Cream Sauce Fish Fillet with Rice. Hers was the Baked Chicken with Pasta. Also got the Curry Chicken and surprisingly, it had more chicken than potatoes (fine with me since I am not a huge fan of potatoes). Their iced Lemon Tea passed my taste test. Decor here, like other Hong Kong cafes, is cute with replicas such as an old school phone booth and various memorabilia. Since I was born in Hong Kong, it sure made me felt a bit nostalgic. I look forward to coming back soon to try out their breakfast menu.

The rice and minced pork was super good. Good sweetness and texture. The chow fun was good but I think I would have preferred soy sauce option over the black bean option. The crispy noodles had a really good texture that I really liked, but I wish they were in a diff sauce. A more savory soy sauce or a more salty peanut sauce would have been great. I also like the ambiance and service was also pretty good! the food did not take that long to come out. Everything was pretty affordable and parking was really simple to find as well! Overall, I would recommend going to this place! I think most people would really enjoy it!

Their menu is expansive. Portions are always hearty. I ordered 3 dishes knowing full well we wouldn't finish it. - lunch special bbq pork with two eggs over rice. I was actually impressed with the roast pork! It was flavorful and had a good chew. Not melt in your mouth soft but better than a lot of other places. Very good for under $17. - Singapore vermicelli noodles - had a nice curry kick. The noodle was very dry but that's how I like it. I love the shrimps, it was plump and juicy. The roast pork was flavorful. - margarita pizza - been meaning to try their western menu and thought pizza was a good start. The pizza was actually not too bad! It came out piping hot and fresh but the tomato sauce was cold. Weird. They probably spooned on the sauce and cheese after letting the dough cook first. The dough was really really good! I also got a red bean ice - not enough ice and not sweet enough. And I never complain about sweetness and most drinks are too sweet for me. My opinion still stands that Garden Bistro is a solid choice. Not mind blowing but good.

Great wide selection of cafe style dishes, so filling you have enough for a snack later =] We ordered: Minced Beef & Egg on Rice - Very light savory in flavoring which is nice for lunch so you don't feel guilty. I had enough to take home to make more sunny side up eggs to enjoy it with Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs - Comes with a large side of jasmine rice. The sour and sweet sauce is just right, not overpowering in flavor on one spectrum. There are bones on some of the ribs FYI. The sauteed vegetables is a great balance to the rib meat. Baked Sole Fillet & Spinach in Cream Sauce - I chose pasta which hit the carb crave I was having. They had big chunks of sole fillet to balance the creamy sauce. I would recommend adding a bit of pepper if you want some adjustments to the flavoring. The staff seated us immediately and provided their complimentary soup of the day, which was cream corn soup Definitely coming back to enjoy more dishes in the near future =]

Overall, the food was excellent, even my Asian parents, who can be pretty critical when it comes to Chinese food, gave most dishes high marks. The crispy noodles had great texture, the West Lake beef soup was comforting and flavorful, and the eggplant portions were generous. The service was what I'd describe as classic Chinese restaurant service. The waitress came across as a little rushed and occasionally seemed slightly annoyed, but she was still attentive and accommodated everything we asked for without any issues. Our food came out at a reasonable pace, and we never felt forgotten or had to chase anyone down. The atmosphere had its own unique charm. The restaurant was playing early-2000s hip-hop while a Chinese gangster drama played on the TV, which made for an unexpectedly entertaining backdrop. The restroom was also clean, which is always appreciated. My only real criticism is the sweet and sour pork. The batter itself was crispy and well executed, but too many of the pieces were mostly breading wrapped around bone with very little meat. It was the one dish I probably wouldn't order again. Even with that one miss, everything else was strong enough that we left very satisfied.

The beef brisket was tender and the flavor was there but it was slightly tangy/sour-- on the border of doing bad? I've never had this dish taste sour. The typhoon ribs were filled with fried garlic and the ribs came out hot and crispy!
