Popcorn Chicken and Italian Tomato Hot Pot
Kevin T.

Stop by here for quick snack run with wife to kill some time. Wasn't busy on Saturday evening. Ordered hot jelly and oyster omlette and popcorn chicken. The food was good as always portion was a little small for sure. The staff was tentative to us. Decor as always is modern. Parking really isn't an issue. Will be back again when in the area.

Their personal hotpot is one of the best I've had! What makes it so yummy is the broth - rich, clean, and super flavorful. The ingredients are able to absorb all of its yummy goodness. The amount of food is substantial, and it comes out fairly quick. We also tried some of the other items on their menu, and everything tastes fairly authentically Taiwanese. You order via a QR code at the table and pay up at the register. Service is quick and efficient. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot. Will definitely be back!

Date of visit: multiple times Omg this review is long overdue! I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend of mine end of Nov 2019. She's Taiwanese and a foodie :D Since then I've been coming here several times with my family Long story short, these are things I like to order here: - beef tongue rice: ORDER IT! my kids' and hubby's absolute favorite. - Taiwanese beef stew noodle: ORDER IT! pretty good. - Hakka salty pork noodle soup: their soup has subtle flavor but imo still pretty good. ORDER IT! - popcorn chicken: somehow inconsistent as one time we came and it was super bland, like they forgot to season it with salt and pepper. I had to ask for salt and pepper and seasoned it myself! But for most times, this item is really really good and absolutely one of my fave here, so I would say ORDER IT, but proceed with caution lol - pork chop rice: very subtle flavor but it was good. Just wish the pork chop can be a little more tender. Would I order again? Hmm...maybe I will... Drinks are also pretty good here. I tried Panda milk tea and I love the flavor of the black tea. Would definitely explore more drink selections next time I stop by. Note: pictures are collection from my multiple visits here

Pickled Cabbage Pork hotpot

This is my second time coming here for lunch. First time I had a regular soup bowl. It was very good, but forgot to write a review. This time we were tired from a night out and wanted something warm to fill our tummy's. Normally my goto is boiling point but my husband wanted me to try the hotpot here, and I was very happy he did! Place opens at 11, decor is nice open concept design is modern. Plenty of parking in this complex. Service was great we can scan the code and order with your phone or you ask your server to submit the order for you. My husband order the pickled broth hotpot He liked it a lot so 4/5 for him - it's honestly an acquired taste so I was not a fan I order the original seafood - large portions fresh seafood and all its toppings and good warm broth. 4/5 The only thing is, they add alot of cabbages so it felt wasteful since I can't finish it all. Of course order bbt - yummy ( the boba is chewy and soft 5/5) Highly recommend !

Tried out the famous Hanlin Tea Room. Their hotpot is good but boba is just okay.. Service isn't great either, they always forget to give us water lol

Ordered food to go. They were packed nicely. Popcorn chicken: skip. The portion was small and the chicken were in super tiny pieces and some were actually just the fried batter. Only the top layer had some regular sized chicken. No flavor at all; unsalted. Sausage: dry and hard to chew. But the garlic sauce was good. Pork chop rice: pork chop was marinated well but it was cooked too dry. Beef noodle: not the traditional kind but pretty good. Strong tea flavor. Beef was tender. Sesame oil chicken vermicelli: smelled great. A decent dish.

Shrimp fried rice

One extra star for service, which was not bad, pretty courteous Came here for lunch, daughter ordered shrimp fried rice. picture in ordering system looked really good, tho expensive for fried rice imo but inflation these days so guess it's becoming somewhat normal. However when the "actual" fried rice came, I was just laughing in my head. The whole portion was like the size of my daughters palm. For $12? No thx. Talked to couple of their servers and they both resorts to their "leader" for my curiosity in essentially false advertisement. One came back and politely said they can take it back, which was fine with me, no way paying what looks like double of what was served. Boba was good, which I also got, so credit is given where is due but I know inflation is bad just this shrinkflation for this order is ridiculous in my opinion. Judge for urselves, u have been warned, I m taking my biz somewhere else

Hot Pot Sesame Oil Chicken I had expected it would be a traditional Taiwanese cuisine, but it more like a chop suey in the sesame oil hot pot. Not so sure how to make out of this. The ambiance as cold as freezer, I ended up dinning outdoor where was warmer. There was practically no service at all; ordered the food from QCode, the server brought it out and paid inside. The two staff inside were so occupying on their smart phones never showed any courtesy. I really like to try other Taiwanese dishes, but might never come back when I think about chilling indoor and no service dining.

Oyster vermicelli & cuttlefish balls
Mimi L.

We ordered Uber eats from here late night cause hubby was craving his hometown Taiwanese food. I am not a huge fan of Taiwanese food but I do like a few signature items. So we decided on quite a few signature Taiwanese snack food to munch on while watching a movie at home. We ordered meatball soup, pork rice cake, fried cuttlefish ball, fried fish cake, oyster vermicelli, oyster omelet and popcorn chicken. Food was surprisingly delicious in large portions. I especially liked the oyster vermicelli and this dish has always been one of my favorite Taiwanese food. Hubby really enjoyed pork rice cake and oyster omelet, the popcorn chicken was very flavorful as well. I didn't order any teas this time but I'd like to go to the actual restaurant to try some teas and hot pot sometime.

Chicken leg with rice (combo)
Mike W.

First time ordering takeout here because of all the 5 star reviews, and man was I disappointed. Chicken leg + rice combo: This should be the safe bet, I thought. Pretty hard to mess this up right? The chicken leg was fried to oblivion and left out to dry, with the edges so rock hard they could cut the inside of my mouth on every bite. Side items also had very little taste to them. Stir fried cabbage with garlic: Greasy, bland, and you won't know there's garlic. Spicy tofu: Kinda spicy and that's about it. I expected all the smells and flavors associated w spicy szechuan hotpot but i guess that's too much to expect. I can attribute one poor dish to bad luck, but having all three at below par quality is just sad. One star, would not recommend.

We ordered the mushroom sliced pork rice with egg ($9.99), stinky tofu (9.99), and a beef stew noodle ($13.99). The place is small inside, and it is located at a rundown shopping plaza. Our food came out quickly. We liked the sliced pork rice with egg. It was not the best, but it was a comfort meal and flavorful. The Stinky Tofu was okay, but they were a bit too dry. I liked that they gave us a lot of pickled vegetables. The sauce could be thicker and better. For the beef stew noodle, the beef was tender and flavorful. The broth had a herbal taste, and I liked it, but my hubby did not like the broth. The service was good, and the lady was attentive. If you pay more than $25, then you can pay by credit card. Everything was in good portions, and I think that it was a decent meal. However, my hubby only liked their sliced pork rice.

However, the final bill didn't match the prices listed on the menu, which was very confusing and frustrating. What made it worse was that the actual dishes looked completely different from the photos on the menu. If I had known that those four small pieces of meat would cost that much, I definitely would not have ordered them. The most upsetting part was that when we tried to ask both the server and the owner about the pricing issue, we were basically ignored. On top of that, we waited about 20 minutes just for takeout packaging, even though the restaurant was not busy at all. Honestly, this will probably be my last time coming here. I just hope the friends I previously recommended this place to won't end up blaming me for sending them there.

It offers a generous portion of tender, juicy meat and springy, fresh noodles. "DELICIOUS!!" I arrived at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) on Sunday (around 11AM). Parking is easy. The lot is big with many spots. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, but Staff spoke limited English. Fortunately, pointing at the menu was clear enough. The food took eight minutes and nine seconds. Fast time! As mentioned, the Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($16.50 - Mild) is wonderful! It arrived picturesque and delicious!! However, despite ordering "mild," the food has a very strong heat; I sweat nonstop as I ate. The broth is rich, savory, and spicy. The meat is tender, flavorful, and falls off the bone. And the noodles are hefty, soft, and springy. It's a wonderful, euphoric combination of flavors and textures. Concerning ambiance, No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) is surprisingly spacious with its tall ceiling and relatively clean surroundings. However, its walls and furniture look worn down with time. Some seats even had torn holes. Unfortunately, the music uses radio with constant commercials playing in the background. Fortunately, there's a gender neutral restroom in the back. Overall, I found culinary magic at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights). The food is fresh, generously portioned, and well-prepared. I left full with a bright smile.
