We visited on a Tuesday night near closing time there was no wait for a party of 3. Our server was great at explaining the AYCE rules to us but really every single server there at the time was awesome and attentive clearing our empty plates and refilling our drinks quickly! Although we had got there a little over an hour to closing we never felt rushed. Now the food, wow! The fried options were great as well. There was a little bit of a wait on a Thursday night but well worth it. The hostess was so welcoming and kind. You can tell that she tries to get to know her customers and often had repeat customers come through and say hi to her. The space was accommodating for small and large parties. I took my daughter here because she got good grades but this is also a very nice spot for dates or just a night out. It has an upscale vibe inside but with decent pricing. The all you can eat menu is top tier! I was able to get everything I wanted without having to nickel and done everything. With tip everything came out to $100 for two people but it was well worth it. We wanted to give another AYCE place a try and think we found our favorite spot. Price of AYCE is $36.99 a person. Parking can get little busy but we were able to find one behind the restaurant by the housing area. Walked in and server will ask if you are doing AYCE or al la carte. They will explain if its your first time dining there. Certain "premium items" are one time only per person. But those are always the best quality. The day of our visit blue fin tuna was good but their regular tuna was not as good as I anticipated. Its my favorite fish but I had to switch to yellowtail for the night. Rice ratio is good and sushi was cut pretty big pieces. I do like it when places use rice machine otherwise they will try to fill you up with too much rice under the nigiri. Overall experience was good and I don't know how long they will be doing the beer specials but we were abel to get a glass of Asahi for $3.50. I feel like compared to other places they definitely have little more options like fries. The place is located in an apartment/business center, meaning if you live there you can walk out and get food (super jealous) the parking was okay. I bet it's a pain if it's the weekend and busy but we went pretty early on a Sunday. The inside is decently sized. Not super big, not super small. You're given the choice of Ayce or normal menu. We always had to go AYCE. For the premium you get a set amount based on the number of people you have. I wanna say it's 2 pieces per person but i could be wrong. We obviously got all the premium stuff? The scallops were honestly my favorite! I was i had been able to order more but the rest of the sushi was great ! We also got some of their appetizers and fried stuff and it was all great. A good sushi place will have good crispy tuna rice and good baked mussels; if they don't... RUN lol The staff is very nice and you get to order on an iPad so it kinda saves the hassle of flagging people down. Good AYCE. Glad there is Finally one in the area! The Hostess Rose was very nice. Explained the menu thoroughly. Service was good during 80% of the time we dined there. Items came out fairly quickly. Towards the end, service got slower. Waters were not refilled. It took a while to get the bill. Only thing I didn't like was that they recommended for us to try the fresh wasabi but did not mention that it would be an extra charge. We were given two dishes and when the bill came, we were charged for both. Also, we were told that we couldn't have any leftovers. The hostess mentioned one roll maximum is ok. However, one of the servers, one that did not assist us at all during our stay, said that every piece of sushi/ item had to be eaten before we could receive the bill and check out... Stopped in for dinner with a couple of friends. We were there kind of close to closing, but we're welcomed in with very friendly service! The restaurant is a good size and can definitely fit a nice crowd. They have a bar that people can sit at and plenty of flat top tables. They offer an AYCE menu, but we weren't hungry for that, so went with ordering a la carte. The menu includes a ton of sushi, Ramen, and Bento box type diner combos. We tried Orange Fish in La Verne and it was one of the best AYCE sushi restaurants we have been to in a while. The quality of all of the fish and sushi were great - everything tasted fresh. Their appetizers were delicious - our favorites were the soft-shelled crab and fried oysters. The restaurant felt very clean and service was attentive. Wow! One of my Yelpies recommended this spot, and it was absolutely phenomenal. Easily some of the best AYCE sushi I've had! We were greeted right away by a super friendly host. After being seated, she clearly explained the AYCE process, ordering is done through a tablet, and you have a 90 minute window to enjoy as much sushi as you'd like. There is a great selection of sushi here and the regular all-you-can-eat menu had plenty of delicious options. We really enjoyed the variety of the rolls and the classic nigiri was fresh and flavorful. I will be sure to upload all the photos of what we tried because the presentation was also quite nice. My first impression was a bit confusing because I was asked to choose between the premium or regular tiers before I even saw a menu. I would have appreciated a physical menu or a chart to compare the two options first, but since I couldn't see the differences, I just stuck with the regular menu. The staff is very friendly and they do a great job of checking in on the table and keeping things moving. However, the ordering is done entirely through a tablet system mounted to the edge of the table. You handle all of the orders and modifications yourself on the screen. I usually tip between 20% and 22% when I go out, but it feels a bit high when there is so little server interaction. In this specific setup, the sushi chefs are clearly doing the bulk of the work. I really hope they are getting a generous tip out at the end of the day because the food they prepared was the highlight of the meal. It is a solid spot for sushi, but the service model and menu layout could be a little more transparent for first-time guests. Orange Fish in Pomona seriously impressed us. We came in for the AYCE and it was one of the most affordable AYCE options in the area and some of the best quality sushi we've had around here. My boyfriend and I love sushi. He discovered this restaurant on Yelp and we decided to check them out. The restaurant wasn't too busy when we went on a Sunday night. We were seated right away and they asked if we wanted Ala Carte or AYCE. We opted for the AYCE option. Restaurant was clean, ambiance was nice and our food came out relatively quickly. Our server was also friendly. The one inconvenient thing was ordering off the iPad. I wish there was a way to bring it closer or even having a regular menu showing all the different options. Sometimes it's nice to be technologically advanced but it's also nice to have old school paper menus so you can skim your options quickly and identify which are limited items. We did notice a timer ticking on the iPad so it tells you when your two hours is up. And it also lets you order 35 items at a time or something of the sort. The wait between placing the next order isn't long, thankfully. We tried a variety of dishes. Our favorite is the nigiri. I love how they don't try to balloon you up with giant portions of rice. The fish to rice ratio was perfect. I do wish that the ikura rolls weren't so small, especially since they're a "limited" item (max two orders per person for AYCE). Here we go, another AYCE Sushi review My gf and I are self proclaimed sushi connoisseurs having gone to most of the AYCE spots in our area, and we were excited to try out Orange Fish after we say photos of their menu and food. First up, ambiance: Orange Fish is a lovely restaurant that is clean, thematically designed, and the perfect aesthetic for a date night or quiet/chill dinner with friends. The restaurant is not large, with several close booths/tables and a sushi bar. See pics. My gf and I enjoyed sitting at the bar, and the restaurant wasn't too loud for us to converse and be cozy. Service: Orange Fish service is alright. The host was courteous from when we entered and staff were extremely friendly. They asked if everything was alright, and the chef at the bar always politely interjected our conversations when serving us our orders. When they got our order wrong, they communicated and remade our order promptly. My only gripe would be the fact that our waters weren't monitored very well, and I had to flag waitstaff down often to get plates/refuse picked up or waters refilled. Mild complaint tho, overall the staff were excellent . Unfortunately, they missed items on our orders several times. This seems to be a trend with AYCE spots though, and the staff are happy to fix any gaps/errors. Food: the most important part of a restaurant experience is the food, and orange fish is slightly above average. What was good: most fish quality was above average, fish-rice ratios were solid, nothing was overly sauced. As a nigiri-faithful, I was surprised by the above average quality of nigiri like mackerel, inari, and eel. We also absolutely loved their scallion yellowtail hosomaki!! They serve as a good replacement for negitori, and we will definitely order more of that next time. The appetizers we ordered (Soft shell crab, fried oysters, baked mussles) were excellent as well, and a unique differentiator from other spots. What wasn't good: Salmon. Seriously. As a salmon lover, I was extremely extremely disappointed in how flavorless the salmon here was. Not only that, but we got a few pieces of salmon which felt noticeable lower quality than what we would expect from OF. Like they were freshly pulled from the freezer. Even with the carpaccio, the salmon was basically flavorless. Quite a disappointment, which lowered our score for OF overall, basics are important. Price: we came in during their 34.99 AYCE soft opening special. As of Jan 1 2026, the price is the regular 39.99. I would say this place is worth the price if they can fix their salmon issue. With the 40$ AYCE, I would expect good salmon :/. Overall verdict: 3/5 because of the salmon issue. It was an ok overall experience. read more

For AYCE, you order on the touch screen and have 90 minutes. We went on a Sunday, and they charged dinner price of their limited time offer of $34.99 (usually $39.99). They're also offering a pint of asahi beer for $2.50. Salmon capriccio was delicious and fresh 10/10. The salmon nigiri and the sun rise no-rice roll were also delicious 9/10, and the squid leg was solid as well 8/10. Efficient service and casual vibes made for an easy dining experience. Baked mussel had too much cheese but otherwise delicious 7/10. Shumai was completely fried so would not recommend unless you enjoy fried foods 3/10. Tonkatsu ramen was surprisingly yummy 9/10. Took off a star because there's a limit of one capriccio per person for salmon, albacore, tuna, and yellowtail, with a 5-minute delay required between ordering rounds. Saw this place opened nearby and thought I'd check it out based on the great reviews! I ordered the ramen/premium roll combo, which I think is a great deal. You could honestly probably share it if you're not too hungry, or get an appetizer. The tempura salmon sushi roll was as good as any I've had, I'd probably try something with raw fish next time though to really compare. The ramen was also excellent, flavorful, and substantial. They have a karaage chicken ramen that I was eyeing too! Our only issues were the service, which was very slow. We had 3 or 4 different servers and it seemed a little disorganized. They're still new so I'd give it time. Also didn't feel like the teriyaki salmon was done well. It was sort of burnt. The first of the three AYCE Japanese restaurants I've tried in the last month, I can't believe I really didn't take any photos?! Oops!!! Well, I'm gonna start by confessing yet again that I don't eat sushi, so my review is purely based on the ramen and cooked Japanese food (izakaya). I know that is a drag, since most of you will be looking for reviews on their sushi, but you'll have to check the other reviews. That being said, we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal at this La Verne establishment. There is a lot behind, with a decent amount of parking. We came for what we thought was an early weekend dinner, and it was pretty crowded the entire time we were there, but despite the medium sized eatery, we got seated rather quickly. I believe there was a bit more of a wait when we were leaving. Service is good. You will feel a little bit sorry for them as they have to keep running these little orders to you over and over. They keep the portions very small, which is good so you don't over order since you can always order more, but really takes a toll on the serving and cooking staff. Recommendation - make the portions just slightly larger, so it's not the size of an amuse bouche. I think we tried most everything, and while it wasn't like the most amazing Japanese food we've ever had, it was really enjoyable to be able to try a whole bunch of different dishes without having to overindulge on just one entree. You can order a la carte, though, if you don't want to go AYCE. It definitely felt like we got our money's worth. Everything from the karaage to the spicy tuna with crispy rice to the baked mussels to the shrimp tempura to the beef and chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu and more (french fries, agedashi tofu, ebi furai, cucumber salad, and the ramens) was tasty and enjoyed. The few oops that happened while we were there? First off, you are supposed to order off these little tablets at every table. The problem is we like our chicken and beef well-done (like charred well-done), and there is no place on the tablet to make a comment, so we had to bother the waitress to handle the meat orders. Also, the system went down half way through our meal. That wasn't a problem, we thought, as they just had us switch to a paper ordering menu. The bigger problem is that the waitress charged us and thought it had not gone through due to the computer troubles. So she ran our card a second time. I will say, we called back immediately, as the charges went through by the time we had gotten home, and the manager took all the information, looked into it, and got us a refund for the accidental second billing. So, this was just a mistake caused by technology. One other minor, minor screw up was the spicy tonkatsu ramen. The first one we got came out as regular non-spicy tonkatsu. But, hey, we just had two since they were so small anyway. We left full, happy, and satisfied. Between Aikan in Pasadena, Mabu in El Monte, Orange Fish in La Verne is by far the best AYCE Japanese both for the money and food quality. Do yourself a favor and try this gem. I'm usually not an all-you-can-eat person, but every item was very solid, especially for the price. I came early for lunch during their grand opening week and actually won a Labubu! Apparently, the first 30 tables this week spending over $50 get a chance at prizes. The nigiri and ramen were both solid, but the fried soft shell crab was the standout for me. I came here with my family for my birthday lunch. I kindly requested a booth, but they said that they were short staffed even though there were a lot of workers around still. I explained that the smaller tables are less private and have no space. She still was being difficult and rude, she sent a waiter to talk to me who said he wouldn't be back until 4 pm from his break. Keep in mind it's around 2:00 pm (wish I had that long of a break). We settled for a regular table. What drove me to write this review is that around 2:30 pm, midway through my birthday lunch, Celine sat a couple and their two kids at the booth area where I had requested to sit. This really angers me when I get lied to. I will never come back here again on principle. Management, I advise you to get rid of Celine or train her to be better and not lie to your customers. Good luck! I'd rather drive to Show Sushi or somewhere else than this one which is close to where I live. Stay away from this place. Both times I've gone, it's gotten busier as it gets later, so if you are hoping to avoid a wait, go close to opening or at off hours. At this point, I've tried a lot of the menu items, and I'd say the nigiri and the carpaccio are far better than any of the rolls. I love that they don't give you a huge glob of rice. Their appetizers are good, too. Service is pretty good, but they did forget to offer me ginger and wasabi on my first visit. They give you a 90 minute limit and do have a limit on some of the menu items, so you can't order an unlimited amount of those.
