Chapel Hill Moving

Chapel Hill Moving

I used this company to move my daughter to Chapel Hill two years ago. We had them unload the truck…read moreand set up her apartment which was located up three flights. They were punctual, professional and a pleasure to work with. So when it came time to move her back to NY, without hesitation, I called them right away to make sure they were available on the dates we needed. Once again, I was completely satisfied with their not only their price but the quality of their work. They packed our truck for the long haul up to NYC and everything was completely in tact on our arrival. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing moving services in the area. Honestly, I was lucky to have selected them in the first place, but there was no luck involved the second time around. They are prompt, efficient and extremely responsive. I even received feedback on questions I had over the holiday weekend. Service like this is hard to find. I am truly grateful for all they did. Took a lot of stress out of a tedious process.

I received estimates from Chapel Hill Moving Company for packing in two stages. The packers arrived on time and were polite and friendly. They were at my home for three hours. The final charge for the initial packing (including materials) was extremely high. When I spoke with Ethan, the owner of the company, he was condescending and rude to me. It became evident to me that while the company provides estimates, the actual charges at the end of the job are at or beyond the high end. Interestingly, there are other reviews that also mention the high cost of Chapel Hill Moving Company. I will be using a different company for the second packing stage and for moving, while hoping that the packing was done professionally and carefully. I recommend that others use a different packing and moving company that is reliable, professional, and (as importantly) cost-effective. Moving is too expensive to overpay when the company knows it can get away with it.

Needed to move in mid-January and as with many oddities during this pandemic, a lot of moving…read morecompanies are busy! But a quick online search leads me to Little Guys Movers. The reviews look real, they're well-rated and really close to home so I give them a call. Charlie at the office takes in all my information including details about each location and a basic inventory of key pieces of furniture in addition to packed boxes. They check in a couple of days beforehand and we are good to go! Day of the move, Malik, Hunter and Tyrell show up in a fairly large truck. They help me break down some furniture (bed frames) and try to leave as much intact for the move. For my 2 bedroom apartment it takes maybe 2 1/2 hours to bring it all down. Unfortunately I live on the 3rd floor which slows things down. On the destination side it takes a little over an hour to unload which includes re-assembling stuff. Didn't find many/any dings on the walls or furniture, they wrap the edges for safety. I tip the team and say a huge thank you for this big step forward in my move. Overall I was very happy with their service, it was a little under $900 for the 5 mile move but heck, I sure couldn't have done it on my own. While I was concerned about some of the negative reviews I saw online, my experience was top-notch for the move!

Hi neighbors. We just discovered a locally run company called Sweeps. They arrange local College…read morestudents to do odd jobs in a number of categories--moving stuff, painting, cleaning, yard work etc. We had a 120 lb exercise bike to move up stairs and Sweeps sent two very personable young, very strong men to move it for us. The charge was reasonable at $35/sweeper/hour so it cost us $70. I did check with a local moving company and they wanted $225!!! More than the bike was worth frankly. The signup is very simple and we were able to schedule next day service. The owner Morris, is hands on and coordinated with us via text and email message as to exactly when the guys would show up. We are very pleased and wanted to pass this on to neighbors since it is hard to find reliable folks to do small jobs like this at a reasonable price. They also can do larger jobs as well. Contact sweeps at Sweeps.jobs or call (919) 629-1208. That web address looks odd but it work fine!

They gave…read moreme the best quote for a long-distance move and they moved my items directly to Illinois without stopping or combining them with someone else's items, which meant none of those annoying stickers! They brought 4 or 5 guys, all very professional, and brought all the necessary materials (blankets, shrink wrap, etc.) to pack my goods on the truck. It only took them about 90 mins to load the truck! (I had a 1 bedroom plus den townhome). As with any moving company, I recommend contacting them a few days prior to your move to make sure you're in their schedule and that there has been no miscommunication. I have been burned in prior moves, but the Taylors did not let me down.

First of all, I don't like leaving negative reviews. But this company ghosted me. I cannot rate…read morethem for service because I never received any - I am glad others have had a good experience based on most of the reviews. In 2018, We were moving from an apartment to a house which was only an 8 mile trip. I called and a representative came to our apartment for an assessment. We were in the middle of packing so items were not quite move ready. The gentleman asked me where I worked which was none of his business mind you, and in red flag territory, but I was focused on getting this move done, so I let that go. He also asked if the woman present ( my wife ) was my mother, yes another red flag that we chose to ignore. He stepped out of the apartment called the office I presume and came back with a quote which was a little high, and then left. But because we were in a serious time crunch, the company had favorable reviews, and I like to support local family owned businesses, I called and left a voicemail accepting the quote. I lost three valuable days waiting for a call back that never came. We called back but never spoke to a human. I don't know why we were ghosted, and it might be possible that the high quote was to scare us off instead being straight with us out of some concern that I could not pay them, or simply of telling us they were fully booked or maybe the the third floor apartment was a concern. But that is only speculation. I do hold out the possibility that perhaps something serous like a family emergency might be a factor, but I still should have received a callback. I eventually called another company (ATHENS which I already left a yelp review for), they moved us without issue and they got my money because I did have a job. They even picked up new appliances we purchased on the way to our new home. I hope my experience with Taylor is the exception and not the norm.
