I would recommend this place because the Optometrists are SOOO personable, friendly and detailed. I didn't even have an appointment. I've come in here about three times before, to get my eyes checked and to pick out glasses and every time has been great. The staff are so nice, I've had my eyes checked by Alex every time and he does a great job, I get my glasses just the way I need them. This time when I came in I just needed the frame of my glasses slightly adjusted because they had been offset at a weird angle for a while. I came in by myself, and immediately was welcomed by an assistant (I don't know her name unfortunately) She fixed my glasses right then and there, for free, in a matter of probably a minute. It was so fast I couldn't believe it! I knew my glasses only needed a minor adjustment but it still struck me by surprise, in a great way. After she fixed my glasses she told me that it was the shop's 5th anniversary of being open, and they were giving out free desserts and goodies. Of course, I couldn't pass up! They had homemade banana pudding and chocolate dipped ritz crackers with peanut butter. Both super good. And then the lady gave me a goodie bag which contained caramel popcorn, a cleaning cloth, a flyer and a stuffed eyeball. Needless to say, not every day is their shop's 5 year anniversary so don't come expecting banana pudding, cookies and a goodie bag! But I wanted to show this as part of my review because I think it perfectly demonstrates the sincere kindness and generosity of this business. Customer service is top notch. Long story short, I couldn't find frames I liked so I ended up turning to Yelp and found this place. Decided to check out, Ana greeted me and offered her assistance. She is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Finally got frames that I love, I feel like the prices were great and that my insurance covered more and better quality options than at my previous optometrist. (Not confirmed just my opinion, I paid 60 bucks out of pocket and I'm used to spending way more) I never had an issue with my previous optometrist, but the level of customer service experienced here, definitely has encouraged me to switch. read more

I recently had an eye exam and consultation with a view to using contacts to correct age deterioration. I was tired of constantly loosing readers and needing to put them on and take them off again many times a day. I met with Dr Li who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Within 30 minutes I was wearing a mono lens and able to see both near and far. One week later i had a follow up appointment with Dr Alex. I told him I was having a little difficulty adjusting to the blurriness I was experiencing. He was so incredibly patient and tried a few different stre lenses. We are in the process of "tweaking" things until I'm completely satisfied with my vision. It's not often that I'm blown away by good customer service! This place rocks and I know I'm in good hands even if it takes a few adjustments. read more

Im not much on rating on yelp and actually hate the concept, I just use this app to look at food photos. But I couldn't resist making this comment. I've had great experience with the Dr himself, but the issue is the person answering the phone. When a patient calls and says he has an emergency with his eye and needs his "eye" dr to look at it you would think the operator would say hold on and let me see if the dr will fit you in. Not we're booked on the hour doing fittings and eye exams. I replied and said so I have to go to the emergency hospital and see some non eye specialist? As she said sorry I simply hung up. If they want to figure out when this happened, it was today at around 3:45pm. Well I guess I would just say the operator/receptionist is simply "dumb". I'll never come back there again!! So I guess I'll need to respond to your response, since you clearly aren't hearing the entire story. I did cancel as I was stuck in Friday traffic coming back from LA. Yes I do work sorry. Your receptionist told me you guys don't work on Monday and that I can be seen Tuesday. I told her that I probably will need to see someone over the weekend if not that night. I did see a personal friend who was a Dr who gave me prescribed eye drops. It helped mitigate the pain but it never healed like I was expecting hence the call again as my eye flared up again. I'm not the Dr and I'm not a perfect patient. I was clearly asking for help/assistance and your receptionist clearly pushed me off to a hospital. No harm no foul. If you want me to pay you for your extra time to wait for my assistant please invoice me, I have no issue with that. Also if you truly cared about my eye and or service you would of simply called me yesterday as you have my number. But now we're on Yelp discussing my eye, service and the 1 Star. Amazing..... Wow. What a nice breath of fresh air. Not that I didn't like my previous optometrist but that outfit had just gotten a little too big and impersonal for me. What a great find on yelp to come here. Dr. Romero was not only extremely nice, he actually explained every process throughout the entire appointment. After 12 years, I finally know why I have to look into the blue circle of death with numb eyes, what the hot air balloon really does, and why he has to ask "1 or 2" over and over again. Oh my spectacles! As a longtime four-eyed lady quite devoted to spectacle-wearing, I have seen my share of optometrists. I have to say that out of all the stodgy, curmudgeonly eye docs I have been to, Dr. Nguyen was the kindest and most friendly-- you can tell that she genuinely cares about the experience of the patient. As opposed to the usual emotionless "Read the bottom line. Okay. 2 or 3", she actually listens and asks questions to make sure I am comfortable and at ease---- which is quite a feat considering all the scary things poking at my eyeballs at a check-up! Being attached to my glasses as I am, I have been struggling with the concept of contacts for quite a number of years. I am a rather crappy soccer player, and getting hit in the face whilst wearing glasses isn't the best experience, so contacts are a necessity. While for any normal person the act is easy, (open your eyeball, put the thing in, and voila! clarity!), for me it has been a terrible if not impossible task. A tiny, almond-eyed asian, my eyeballs have never been receptive at all. That is, until I met Dr. Ly Nguyen! My new savior in all things eye-related. She calmly talked me through putting a contact in my eye (where all other docs had given up), while humoring my self-deprecation, and I finally felt like how those folks in those Acuvue commercials felt. SUCCESS! Even the other doctor, Dr. Romero, walked by to congratulate me on my newfound vision! Seriously, these doctors are awesome. Overall, I was very impressed by the amount of care devoted to me, even for a simple eye exam and contacts coaching. I would definitely recommend the doctors here to anyone looking for some eyeball maintenance. read more

My eyes are terrible, so going to the optometrist year after year had always been a daunting task. Well this time around I can happily say that wasn't the case!! I wear contacts and I first heard about this place from a friend. Normally, I go to the more well known places, but her recommendation left me to discover that not all optometry places are the same. The office itself has a very warm and friendly atmosphere, which probably is derived from the people working there. I'm really nervous when it comes to doctor anythings, and when it came to my eye exam, Dr. Romero was very professional. Wonderful, husband and wife practice that is as sweet and charming as the Orange Circle itself! I've been going to the bigger chain eyeglass crafters for years, so it was a nice treat to get personal and caring service from doctors who genuinely care about their patients. For years I've always felt my R and L eyes needed different prescriptions, but because the difference was so slight, none of my previous eye doctors ever suggested this. Dr. Romero however, was keen on his eye exam, and for the first time ever, my eye prescription feels perfectly right on me! I couldn't believe how comfortable my new glasses felt when I first put them on! My vision isn't too terrible, so I was able to get away without wearing corrective lenses and because my prescription had always been slightly off, I never felt comfortable wearing my glasses consistently. Now though, I love my glasses and wear them all the time! The eye glass selection is fantastic, they offer trendy, high quality, high end frames and very reasonable prices. It's hard to determine a level of service when the place was closed during stated hours of being open. I came down here on a Saturday and stayed a few minutes till it was 10:30 in the morning. They even double downed on their hours of operation with a sign saying, "Closed, will return at 10:00 AM." According to their website, they're only open for four hours on Saturday. You would expect them to be extra punctual as a result. But there was simply no sign of them even opening up at all. Maybe they do generally provide a great experience, but all I know is that I got no service from making the trip over. Not a good first impression. read more

Just had my first visit here and met with Dr. Ly. Absolutely loved her and the staff! Leaving out of the country soon and was concerned I wouldn't get my new glasses in time to have a back up pair! I have to say, I was skeptical after seeing 5-star ratings over and over again. I thought there had to be a catch, or someone was getting paid to write so many great reviews. However, I am excited to report back that these guys really are THAT good. I went into my appointed having been experiencing great pain and fatigue in both eyes. I had glasses that were prescribed over 5 years ago that didn't do me much good--I was afraid something was seriously wrong Dr. Romero was not only incredibly knowledgable, but also kind and compassionate--the exact thing you want from a doctor. He took his time and helped me find the perfect prescriptions for my eyes while simultaneously educating me along the way. Afterwards, he went above and beyond by taking my old glasses and checking them out to see what the issue was. As it turns out, the woman who prescribed them for me all those years ago was a little sloppy and the glasses were way too strong for my eyes! I am pleased to say that I am now patiently waiting for a brand new pair of PROPERLY prescribed eyeglasses, all thanks to Dr. Romero and his team. (As a side note, the ladies at the front desk were also incredibly helpful, patient, and informative. It's obvious that the staff truly work together in tandem.) read more

This review is long over due....so I 'm playing catch up. Dr. Alex Romero and his staff. What can I say...but AMAZING!! He discusses with you every little thing that he is going to do during your eye exam. He even numbed the corner of my eyes to poke a few holes to open up some of my tear ducts. Which I am surprised I even let him do because if anything comes near my eyes, I close them. Even putting in some eye drops once in awhile myself drives me nuts! I've gone to Dr. Romero twice. This last time (about two weeks ago), my stigmatism in my right eye had gone up slightly. So new glasses! And I decided I wanted some new frames. I found some that I thought would look good on me. Which they did. But then the amazing Gwen went and grabbed some different frames, and voila! Super cute! Its like she just knew what kind of look I was aiming for. I love that it's independently owned, Dr. Romero is young...by young, I mean in his mid 30's? And he obviously has worked hard to get to where he is today.
