Followed the generic, boilerplate response from Kaitlin B the business manager and it was useless. The representative who answered at the number she provided said they don't respond to Yelp complaints and forwarded me back to the 1-800 number. Don't waste your time. The reality is that this organization is well aware of what they are doing. It's intentional, predatory, and systematic. It's been well documented for years on multiple platforms including Yelp and their BBB page yet they continue to cheat the public and abuse the goodwill of their name. I recommend other abused patients file a BBB complaint or contact a lawyer. Would be so simple for them to implement a change that all new patients are notified verbally and in writing in plain English (instead of purposefully obfuscated legalese and healthcare jargon) that they will bill as an outpatient at a hospital which can result in 10x-100x patient costs compared to a regular doctor's office. Plus they will bill a facility and doctor fee for each visit which results in double billing and further increased out of pocket costs. Of course that would scare most of their prey away. Radiology is in the back in somewhat of a courtyard. You can go through the PCP/urgent care office to get there. I had an appointment and the wait was under 3 minutes. The ultrasound tech was super nice and we had great conversation! The place is very small and older looking, but it's ok because it's UCI. :) This was my 2nd visit here, and the xray tech was equally as nice. Never a long wait time here. And I love that they're open until 9pm for walk-ins! read more

Review of Dr. Iqbal's Office - Concern About Overbilling I normally don't write reviews, but I felt it was important to share my experience to help others be aware. I recently saw Dr. Iqbal for what was supposed to be a simple visit -- to review my cholesterol and blood pressure medications and order routine lab work. The appointment lasted less than 25 minutes, yet I was shocked to see that my insurance was billed over $1,500 for this initial visit. Even more concerning, I was charged $600 out of pocket, which is far above my typical copay (my plan caps out at $150-$180). I've seen multiple specialists this same year, including pulmonologist and neurologist , and none have ever billed anywhere near this amount for a similar visit. It appears the office billed for a 45-minute comprehensive evaluation, which is inaccurate based on the actual time and complexity of the appointment. When I contacted the office for clarification, I did not receive a satisfactory explanation. I recommend that patients review their insurance claims carefully after visiting this office and verify that the billing codes accurately reflect the services provided. Transparency and honesty in billing are essential for patient trust, and unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I have filled a grievance and appeal. I don't recommend UCI Health. I've decided to return to my previous primary care doctor -- she's always booked, but at least she's honest and my copay is only $30 or nothing at all. read more

My experience with UCI Health Primary Care at this location went very well. I was able to book an appointment with no issues, and the team had me in and out pretty quickly all while answering any questions I had. I got some bloodwork done and was told it would take a few days, but I had my results that same evening. I would definitely recommend this place and I see myself coming back in the future. This clinic may have great programs but if your assessment is covered by insurance and the rest of the program is not it only proves one thing. Profit, profit, profit. I saw the add on Instagram and once my appointment time came they have you sign your life away basically stating that you are physically responsible for everything Then I tried to cancel having full understanding and they come at me threatening that they have a 48 hour cancel policy and that I would be charged $40. When I made the appointment the day before mid day. They get your insurance information your address and personal information to hook you and then give you the paperwork after that states you will be charged for basically EVERYTHING. Cancellation warrants a 48 hour notice. If you are not going to follow through with the protocol for an extended period of time do not waste your time and money. Bad business practice! read more

As the new year begins also physicals for the kiddos and many moms will agree with me on how hard it is to find a place with great doctors and great service. I called to schedule appointments for both my children and it was such an easy process. When you first check-in the receptionist sets it up on a tablet with all disclosures and gets your signature. One thing because obviously it's a medical place face-mask is required. Service is great all around. Dr. Kim is great and answered all of my concerns. This location for UCI is my FAVORITE. I see my rheumatologist as well as orthopedics and endocrinology. I have NEVER had a bad experience here. This review is SPECIFICALLY related to yesterday's appointment with my Rheumatologist, Dr. Michael Cheng. Dr. Cheng is an EXCEPTIONAL doctor. He has unraveled several mysteries which other doctors missed, and his treatment has been LIFE CHANGING. What really makes Dr. Cheng the best is that he truly LISTENS and CARES. He is incredibly empathetic while also being very knowledgeable in his specialty. This combination of clinical knowledge and a truly caring personality is rarely found in the medical world, particularly for a patient like me with many dual diagnoses. Most doctors see my medical "picture" and would really prefer to not treat me, as I am a true medical "zebra", but not Dr. Cheng. He has treated me a a WHOLE PERSON, not as an oddity or a pain in the neck, which many doctors do. I cannot recommend Dr. Michael Cheng highly enough. read more

Warning to Be Careful about the Making a Doctor's Office Visit here! I visited an Orthopedic Doctor here and my UCI Doctor's Office Visit was billed to me as Hospital Out-Patient visit! I've been experiencing some recurring pain on my right-knee and left heel. So I looked at my Blue Cross Web Site to find an IN-Network Orthopedic specialist for a consultation. I found one who is located in the UCI Medical Offices at the corner of Red Hill Ave. and Irvine Blvd. so I scheduled for an initial visit/consultation. On Dec 11, 2024 4PM, the day of the visit, It was just like any other normal visit to a doctor's office. I have to fill up some forms, sign some agreement, wait to be seen by the doctor. Then, before I was seen by a doctor, just like any other normal doctor's visit, they weighed me, took my blood pressure, asked about my pain level and about the reason of my visit. Then, a few minutes later, I got called in to see the doctor. When the doctor saw me, she then interviewed me about the onset, duration of the pain, asked me about the shoes I wear, my exercise routine, etc All the normal questions. Then, she also asked me to stand barefoot, then, ask me to walk a few steps on my heel, and a few steps tippy toed. The doctor took a lot of notes, and then, wrote on a post it note a shoe brand and make and model, and where she thinks I can buy it, saying that the correct shoes usually solve 3 out of 4 feet and leg pain problems. She also sent me to X-Ray to get a better view of my affected feet and knee. She spent at the most, 30 minutes, but I'm sure it's less. Then, I went to the radiology center for my X-rays. Fast forward to today, 12/23/2024, I found out a claim was made to my insurance for $739 for the visit, and $ 321 for the feet and knee X-rays. I don't have questions about the fees for the X-rays. But thinking that there might be a billing error in the high amount for the doctor's visit, I called to question why a routine Doctor's visit/consultation is billed at $739. Here's what surprised and shocked me... UCI Billing told me that since my doctor's visit was to their hospital, it's not just a routine doctor's office visit, but rather an Out-Patient Hospital visit! So in addition to the doctor's visit, I need to pay facilities fees since I used their facilities for the doctors visit. And I also need to pay pre-medical screening fees because they weighed me, took my blood pressure, and did a pre-interview about my reason for the visit. All these are charged in addition to the doctor's visit! I then said I did not know about this. As far as I'm concerned, I scheduled a doctor's visit. They will not hear anything about it. They said their facility in Red Hill Corner of Irvine Blvd is a hospital, and I should have known I'm going to a hospital. And they reiterated that I agreed and signed to be financially responsible. I'm not trying to escape the responsibility of paying this medical bill, but I just thought it was such a rip-off that my doctor's visit was billed to me as an outpatient hospital visit causing me to have to pay the highest doctor's office visit in my life ever and I'm not a young person! Just want to warn everybody about being careful when looking for a doctor, or when visiting a doctor at UCI. Be warned that you'd be charged like as an outpatient visit costing 4-5 times a normal doctor's visit. So be careful.... Don't go to any UCI doctor's office if their clinic or your visit will be located inside a UCI hospital or you will end up paying 4 to 5 times more than a regular doctor's office visit! read more

Where do I start?? I've been seeing doctors at memorial care and some were great, some were horrible. But they all had one thing in common. They all wrote me off as last stage endometriosis and that I was chronic and NOTHING can be done. None can be removed and just deal with it. After doing some research I found this place. I actually was crying on the phone begging the person making the appointments to please make it with whoever she thinks is the best Dr here and that my life pretty much depends on it. After about a 5 month wait, I finally had the pleasure of seeing dr Donna baick. Of course, the day of my appointment I was having a horrible flare (my bowels are bunched up and fused to nerve and to my pelvic wall. I also have endometriosis tissue on other organs) I ended up seeing the nurse, Claudia, who could tell I was in pain. She was trying really hard to comfort me and making me feel comfortable. Then, Dr baick came in. At that point I was literally double over crying and screaming In pain. I also informed her I haven't slept in a good 48 hours and couldn't hold food or liquids down. There was a few times I even almost threw up in her office. She had to excuse herself (next time I saw her she told me that she left the room to call the bowel surgeon and told her it was an emergency and I needed to be seen asap) Dr. Baick was a godsend. After our appointment I asked if they could get my mother who was waiting In the waiting room because I couldn't get up and walk because the pain. My mother and the nurse, Claudia helped me up and it's the little details that matter. Claudia came with a wheelchair (normally I use my own but I left it in the car and figured I could just tough it out) she got the wheelchair and she put a little pillow down for me to sit on so that wheeling me to the car wouldn't be so bumpy. Which, with my bowels being fused to my pelvic wall and fused to nerves it's extremely painful going over any little bump whether in the wheelchair, in the car or just walking. She was so nice doing that without me even having to ask. What really made me feel human, and not like I'm just some robot at a factory, is when the office called to check on me a couple hours later. I don't know who it was on the phone, but they were from the office and asked if I was ok. This place went above and beyond to help me. I highly recommend this place which specializes in OBGYN, chronic pelvic pain and etc. Dr Donna Baick, honestly gave me hope, And didn't just write me off. She took time to answer all my questions and you could tell she really really felt my pain and how urgent this was. If you are suffering from chronic pelvic pain and doctors just keep telling you there's nothing they can do, then this is your place Dr baick also took the time to read me my MRI that another doctor did but brushed over. And I 100 percent believe her everytime she says she wishes there was something she could do right now for my pain level. She's extremely sympathetic and supportive P.S I do believe she has other locations. But this is the only place that I have seen her. read more

UCI - Tustin has fantastic healthcare providers. Specifically, Dr. Maria Kim and Dr. Michael Cheng are the best physicians around. They're kind, caring, and listen. They gave me power and autonomy to take back my health. At no point did they treat me like a child or talk down to me. I would highly, highly recommend them. Other staff have been very professional. Overall, I've had no issues with them. It's a great clinic and I'm considering going back to them even though I'm relocating out of the SoCal area. This place is like a model healthcare setup -- I wish I could keep it to myself :) but feel obligated to state facts as they are -- Annual physical -- seems straightforward right -- until you've have had trouble scheduling an appointment after a long & required fast - this Tustin location makes it super easy The physical exam is great ofc -- and dr azeizat makes it a point to ensure all the required tests are covered by insurance -- so there is no surprises later I go for a walk-in early morning blood draw at the same location -- easy parking, very short wait, a smooth experience with the blood draw and i am out within 10 mins ! & can get back to work To top this -- the results are available the next morning and communicated to me on the my health portal with a detailed history chart available for each metric - super quick This location is probably unique in all of OC and I am really glad it's available through my insurance read more

Needed sports physical for HS which usually can be done at same time as annual exam for kids-nope they do separate so they can charge you $$$ (like $250) Lots of reviews to support this info. Do not use UCI Health for anything other than surgeries (if you want to have your surgery done in a learning hospital). Do one pre-op appointment, and then one post-op (if really necessary). Get out of UCI Health and away from their doctors ASAP and I mean ASAP, if you jump to a new calendar year and want to control your medical costs. They are grossly more expensive than most providers. Talk to your insurance company and get their guidance on low cost providers in your area. It will NEVER be UCI Health. They will gouge you to the poor farm. First, do not harm - hah - unless it is to the money you earn to enjoy your life and feed your children. My review is for my Cardiologist Dr. Behram Mody, He is an awesome doctor, and he has kept my heart going so I can sent yelps, I could not find a doctor in Corona, which is the area I live in, So I went to UCI i go to Tustin, Orange, Yorba Linda, Irvine, and Newport Beach, I think I have the Ocean pretty much covered. First I was in car accident 20 yrs and almost died, I could find the help I needed, until I went UCI, they are fantastic. Dr. Mody is kind, caring, and most of all professional. I have Anthem Blue Cross of California insurance (high deductible PPO) with a HSA account. I recently made an appointment and had an office visit with one of the primary care physicians in UCI Health Tustin. Before the visit, I confirmed with the insurance that it is an in-network provider. I just got to know I needed to pay over $400 out of pocket for the visit. Usually a primary care office visit costs between $100 and $200 out of pocket. This visit costs more than double the typical amount. Just be aware of the high cost at this place if you have my type of insurance! read more

The lab has serious long wait times. A new person named Vanessa is soooo slow. She makes me and others sit for extremely long times while she tries to figure out how to input an order. Needs training or they need to replace her. Creating huge wait times. Other people mentioned extremely high prices and it's true. When seeing a Dr you will get charged for Dr and also a facility fee which insurance does not cover. It's like the physicians are contractors. No other Dr office I have visited has ever charged separate facility fees in the hundreds of dollars. read more

I was scheduled for a telemedicine at 8:45 AM and even when told to allow for 20 mins before and after, I waited longer than that and had to call in to see if they forgot about me. Note that they don't take walk-ins during the entire time they are open - make sure you check before you come here for an impromptu visit! I needed some non-life threatening emergency medical attention and came to UCI Health. They had very accommodating walk-in hours, it being 5-9pm the day I came (Tuesday or Thursday, I forgot). Check in was easy, and since I came a bit before the start of their walk-in period, I was the second to be seen. They were a bit backed up for whatever reason, and I was not seen until 5:40pm. The doctor came in and apologized profusely, although she was probably in a worse mood already having to work such late hours and being so impacted with work. She spent time trying to understand my condition and guiding me through next steps and watch outs for next time. Very calming and professional demeanor for someone who look so young. Thank you for the staff here for the attentive care, especially Dr. Kim! This experience was so positive I ended up making another appointment to do my annual physical here. read more

The quality of care has significantly dropped!! Get care elsewhere. It's absolutely ridiculous that most doctors don't have availability until 1-2 months later that's a problem. Sure I can make an appointment with another doctor but when they tell you to follow up with your primary care physician then your back to square one. Now I understand why this place has such bad ratings. My child appeared to have an earache and I rushed to get to the clinic before the 4:40pm cut off. I made it at 4:30pm and then stood in line while other people scheduled appointments for later in the week. When it was my turn, no greeting, just ignored while the clerk typed at her computer. When she finally was ready, she asked for the information, looked up my child and said "sorry we are at capacity." Even though my husband had called and put us on the waiting list. Meanwhile the waiting room is empty and there are only 2 other cars in the parking lot. The employees are more interested in leaving at 5pm on the dot than helping a sick child. read more

I have to say I feel a little burned coming here. As for my story, I went in to get my broken ankle checked out. This is what they charged me (and I'm waiting on the next bill for my second visit). My copay for x-rays is $50 with my insurance. I spoke to a billing specialist and this is what the remaining charges were for: $1,191 for a walking boot and fitting for that boot that I could have bought on Amazon for $45. The fitting consisted of asking me my shoe size. $1,448 for looking at my x-rays and my foot $729 for talking to me (seems like double dipping to me, but what do I know?) They made $1,636.28 off of me already and now they want $221.92 more out of pocket. I can't wait to see the next bill for my follow-up. My doctor however, was great. I felt like all the medical staff that I encountered was responsive, smart and talented. read more

Recently scheduled an appointment as a first time patient. I was given a specific appointment time at the time of scheduling. After I confirmed the appointment time, I was asked to arrive 20 minutes BEFORE the scheduled appointment time to complete intake information. I told the staff member that because I have to request and receive permission for time off from my employment, including time for medical appointments, I had already requested/received permission for specific time from work. I advised that I could not promise I could arrive 20 minutes earlier than my scheduled appointment. When I asked if they could send the documents I needed to complete via email, I was told they did not have that capability. I arrived at my confirmed appointment time, possibly three (3) minutes late, because of parking and walking to the wrong office next door. Once I arrived, after I had received permission to take off from work, I was subsequently advised that because I did not arrive 20 minutes BEFORE my scheduled appointment I would need to be rescheduled. I did not and will not be rescheduling. In fact, I was recently asked to report my experience to a colleague looking for a medical care provider in the Tustin area and needless to say I will most definitely NOT RECOMMEND this medical facility. It was a waste of my afternoon and time. This facility seriously needs to consider scheduling accurate appointment start/arrival times with patients instead of confirming one time via text, email and telephone call, then in practice requiring another. If I could give zero stars I would. The call center doesn't communicate with the front line. The WALK-IN clinic is fully booked because the appointment slots are all taken. I called the call center at 1 and they said the walk-in clinic is open from 12:40 to 4:20. I got to the clinic at 3:39 and she said we will not be able to be seen because they are full and don't have any availability. She said come back at 5. I've sitting here for over an hour and nothing. When calling this morning to make an appt, the receptionist I spoke with Styx Dr. David Sodaro is really good and suggested I see him. I'm so glad she recommended me to him. Not only does he see u at ur sch time, not make u wait like Kaiser does.... but he's genuinely nice and takes time to get to kno u and ur history to make sure he can diagnose the issue to be treated properly. He also doesn't forget to cover all the reasons as to why u came to visit in the first place. I so wish I had him back in the day.
