When I tried to make an appointment it would have been 3 weeks before he had time available. I told them all I needed was to renew my prescriptions. So they told me Alison the PA could help me with that. At least she was able to see me within 5 days. And it didn't start well with her but it ended well. First of all, the chart that she reviewed before seeing me wasn't mine but she corrected it. Second, with the new Memorial Care system, some of my information was missing so I had to let her know how much MG some of my medication was...annoying. What I like about Alison was she was very thorough. She had requested all my lab test and one blood test that was the latest in testing for cancer. Today, I got my results back from Quest (which took 2 weeks), let's see if they follow up on my results. I guess no news is good news. If no one follows up I will definitely switch providers. In the meantime, I'll go on Quest website and see if I can figure it out.

She listens and she's willing to work with you on whatever is bothering you, whatever you're worrying about. And if something is not a big deal, or is a waste of your time/money, she'll say so. She also knows who the best specialists are and you can be confident about her referrals. Yes, you pay an annual concierge fee to be her patient, but I think it's worth it. Also, after reading a couple reviews here, I want to say that yes, I have had to sit in in her waiting room for a while before, but not since she went concierge a couple years ago. And Dr. Mai has a sense of humor. So I can see being deathly sick with the flu and thinking it's NOT funny (or even OK) when your doctor says something like "join the club." But honestly I think it's a matter of humor and personality. She is not a jerk. I actually take comfort (and have a laugh) when I think I'm dying and someone tells me I've got some common illness, just like everyone else, and that I will survive.

I made an appointment and had to wait 3 months for my first visit, but I wasn't in a hurry so I didn't mind. When I went in I discovered that Dr. Mai had closed herself off to any new patients for the next two years. Apparently, I made my appointment shortly before she stopped taking patients - whew. I waited about 20 minutes in the waiting room, they called me in, then I waited another 15 minutes before I got to see Dr. Mai. One reason why Dr. Mai decided to stop taking patients for the time being is precisely because she wanted to give more quality of care to her current patients. I can appreciate that. She walked in and she was SO YOUNG I was caught off guard! But she already has two teenage kids. I found out that she graduated med school at the age of 22 and had her kids at 24 while she was finishing up residency. Ask her to tell you her story, it's crazy! She's the sweetest person too. Anyway, while I was with her I felt completely cared for. She was very attentive and I never felt rushed... she really gave me her 100%. She does a lot of things online and is super tech savvy too, so you can pretty much ask her anything through the internet and she'll respond within 24 hours.

I have struggled all my life to find a PCP who made me feel heard and who gave me clarity and treatment plans that worked for me until I met Dr. Amanda Khosravi. She has been my PCP for several years now and treated me through different life stages, so I have a good amount of evidence with which to recommend her wholeheartedly. In fact, I've not only opted for more expensive insurance plans when I switched jobs just so I can continue seeing her, I've also recommended my husband, mother-in-law and a number of friends to her. Here is why I think she is an exemplar of a doctor: Dr. Khosravi has an investigative, holistic, and empathetic approach to figuring out what may be the root cause of my health issues. She clearly has encyclopedic clinical knowledge as well as strong clinical acumen in the way she pieces together all the potential factors and asks me about factors I didn't even realize where potential contributors. On health issues where other doctors have shrugged their shoulders after (sometimes literally) a 30 second dialogue, she has helped me understand the issue and the treatment options. In addition to the superb clinical care, she is genuinely kind and empathetic. Going through health issues is for many of us emotionally triggering, and I've unintentionally cried or felt embarrassed during my appointments, and she always makes me feel safe and heard. Both the what and the how of her approach to caring for patients result in hope and ability to leave a better quality of life. Finally, she is consistently proactively mindful of the economic burden of healthcare, which is sometimes an unspoken barrier to actually following the steps to getting treated. Though we don't know each other personally and I'm sure I'm one of ten thousand, if not more, patients she sees a year, I feel as if she cares of me as if I were her family member.
