I've been a patient of Optometry Corner since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Both the staff & the doctors give off such warm and friendly vibes. It feels more like seeing old friends than walking into an intimidating clinic. Never a dull moment in my visits here. My parents were long time patients of Dr Gilberts and I became a patient here just before he retired. Both parents have since had cataract surgery and don't frequent as often as I do since my eyesight has started to deteriorate with age. I typically see Dr Lui when I go and I really appreciate that he never rushes, is receptive to answering all my questions and has a very pleasant demeanor. I've seen the staff deal with difficult patients and situations and they're always kind and courteous. I've been to the big box optometrists and retail shops and I've always felt like a number. I'm told frames look good on me when they clearly don't and the whole experience is driven by the sale not the service. I suppose that's okay to some but if you're like me and looking for a neighborhood eye doctor where you feel like a valued customer - look no further, you've found it. read more

Dr.Lui is a fantastic optometrist. My prescription is very high so I always have a lot of questions on my vision regarding the rate at which it's changing, my astigmatism, glasses vs contacts, etc. Dr.Lui was very patient, professional, and knowledgable in answering all of them. My prescription was high enough that I was eligible for medically necessary contacts lenses so I was able to get a whole year's contact lenses for free and also paid a reduced rate on my exam. The technology in the office is very modern. No more blasting my eye with air or blinding myself with dilations. There's much more convenient and comfortable machines now. I had also taken my son (5 yrs old) here for his first ever vision exam last year. Dr.Lui and his staff are great with kids too. My son had a great time. read more

Has this place changed ownership? I will never ever recommend anybody coming here. I called to ask if they have children's glasses. The lady who answered the phone said yes and, would you like to make an appointment, she asked? I replied yes I gave her our information, insurance information, etc. On the day of the appointment, my husband and I took our son out of school, we took time off of work, and came in to the optometry corner. The lady up front then proceeds to tell me that, oh no you did not make an appointment, there is no record of you. I said I wrote it down and even sent a calender invitation to my husband so that he would take time off work so that we can both bring our child here. She then tells me that they will not have an appointment at all for the rest of the day nor will they have an appointment for tomorrow. There are three other optometrists within a quarter of a mile area. If they are truly that busy, my dear friends, none of us really need to go to this place. I felt so slighted and so disrespected. There is absolutely no way that I could've made a mistake on the date because that was the only day my husband could take time off work and we had already spoken to the teacher and that was the best day for us to take her child out of school to get his glasses. I rarely rarely write reviews about non-food establishments, but I feel so compelled to do so at this place because of the lack of service and lack of respect I got. read more

My daughter, new to Irvine, and covered by an insurance they take , woke up with eye pain and blurry vision. There are 3 drs on staff and they turned her away. come tomorrow !! I came in to get an eye exam from Dr Lui after not having to wear glasses for the past 6yrs or so. My last prescription glasses were only for night driving but I stopped wearing them because they were causing me dizzines when not wearing them. Recently I've noticed that my vision is slightly blurred when reading fine print on my monitors so I decided to get another exam. Dr Lui and his staff were very accommodating. I schedule my appnt about 3 weeks in advance and was able to get a Saturday appnt. I did not have to wait after filling out my new patient paperwork. Dr Lui was patient and addressed questions I had as well as testing beyond the normal eye exam when I brought up certain concerns. Best of all, Dr Lui was honest and told me I did not need glasses as my vision seemed fair enough so he did not try to upsell me. I did however decide to get a pair of glasses since I wanted a pair to wear at work while I work on the computers. Dr Lui did explain this would help reflect monitor blue lights and reduce strain from over-using my eyes. Highly recommended. read more

Dr. Lui is the superman of all optometrists. He'll leave you feeling like Clark Kent with super sharp vision! How you may ask? Dr. Lui employs extreme patience when he performs the eye exam. He will take the proper time to make sure the prescription he writes is with pinpoint accuracy, because after all, clear vision is what we all strive for. I've gone to many optometrists in the past and I've always thought the quick shuffle through the exam, a quick in and out of the office was of benefit to me, to save me time and hassle, however, after going through Dr. Lui's practice I've come to learn and appreciate the talent and skill that is required when analyzing for an accurate prescription. Also, it turns out, the quick shuffle at my last optometrist actually left me with an improper prescription, detrimental if you have a high astigmatism, which is what I have. The optometrist have my daughter a wrong prescription. I ended up getting a pair of glasses with wrong prescription. The staff never apologized and said the prescription can change Hrs or days. They denied the responsibility or acknowledge the wrong eye examination. It is ridiculous! They won't replace the lenses. read more

I am so glad I brought my kids to Dr. Hawkin Lui. My daughter has struggled with dry/pink eye, eczema, and dry mouth for years. We really thought it was allergies for many years. All of the doctors (dermatologist, allergist, pediatrican,ophthalmologist) kept prescribing my 8 year old steroid cream, eye drops, and allergy medication to help but it never got better. They kept writing us a script and would send us off with no solution. Dr. Hawkin suggested that I get blood work done with our pediatrican to address if she might have an auto immune disorder, which makes complete sense. He is extremely knowledgable, attentive, and really cares about his patients. Really grateful that he brought this to our attention and felt leaving his clinic with some direction on what we need to do for our baby girl. We highly recommend this clinic! read more

I was his last patient of the day so he took his time explaining the purpose of every single test, how to interpret the each of the results, and ultimately what was best for my eyes. Great eye doctor! Both my husband and I saw Dr Lui for the first time and it was one of the best eye experiences I've ever had. I've been wearing glasses/contacts since I was 4 which means going to the eye doc at least once a year. Dr L. was one of the first doctor to actually explain to me what he is testing for, results on certain exams, etc. Everything was professional, well done, thoroughly explained and we are beyond pleased. Another great plus is that Dr Lui is younger which means he brings new ideas, instruments, etc. The staff was extremely friendly, bubbly, professional, and made me as a new client feel welcomed.
