Worst service ever. 'Nuff said. They make it near impossible to speak with anyone. When you finally DO wait on the line for someone for OVER 2 hours most days, you get a foreigner that's hard to understand. They lie about techs coming out because they contract through crappy people that choose whether they want to do the job or not. They lie and tell you a techs coming and you have an appointment made when in reality they haven't set an appointment. You can't help yourself online as they state either. And god forbid you attempt to cancel services because then you'll get transferred around to everyone and anyone BUT the retention department that's (not really) trying to "save" you as a customer. Total sham and scam. They changed my bill without notifying me. I don't receive any bill at all, not by mail, email, or text and yet they bill me and take my money. Cannot look at my account because they have some silly "choose your language" splash that does not work. I click on both languages and the X and nothing. Used to be good service. Last few years terrible downward trend. I pay for 1 GB and routinely get 300-400 mbps. Optimum will tell me it's my equipment - nope I bought all new and it's very good equipment. Then they say, well maybe the ethernet cable is deterioriating, so I buy new ethernet cable - nope, not the problem. Of course they always say reboot everything (yup, that's what I want to do every day). Then they run their own check on speed over a few days and say "everything's good". Really??? Nope. It's actually not "good" - a long way from "good". I don't get what I pay for. I negotiate discounts and then they disappear. Very high cost for terrible internet. Were just waiting for competition to come in - as Optimum is the only choice right now. I, like many of my friends and neighbors, will change carriers the first opportunity we get. read more

If I could give this company a "0", I would. I've had nothing but terrible customer and technician service. They are completely worthless and dishonest. I signed up under a promo back in January and was promised a $100 gift card for signing up. I spoke directly with a new sales rep who said the only criteria was establishing the new account package. Here it is over 4 months later from the date I signed up and still no promo. I have called numerous times and they kept saying it was coming, and to allow 90 days, then 2-4 weeks for them to send it out, and another 4-6 weeks to receive it. That's completely asinine! I called today and she said because I made one payment 1 day late, that I probably don't qualify for it and that's why I haven't received it. WHAT?! Nowhere was that written or disclosed previously. Additionally, I have been paying for 400mbps since January, but only getting less than 200mbps. And if I drop down to the 200mbps plan, they cap your monthly data (luckily my data is well below the proposed cap). My account history will prove how often I had service calls and technicians come out to service my internet without resolution. I asked for a credit of the difference between the 2 plans for the past 4 months since I'm only getting the lesser of the two plans. That request was denied. The quality of the internet is sub-par. Daily, we have fluctuations in speed and outages in the evening where it'll just go out for about 10-30 minutes and then come back on. No idea why. Lastly, the attitudes of the customer service reps are despicable. I'm not sure if it's because they know they're the only company that services our area, or if it's lack of maturity or professionalism, but I've had reps literally mock me and laugh at me on the phone with their peers sitting next to them. I have had others chomp gum in my ears while interrupting me while I speak, or trying to shout over me. Never a good idea. This is the WORST company I have ever dealt with. I sent them an email... given that the request was made over a public forum and I have no way of knowing if they actually are Suddenlink I asked if they would accept an account number instead of my address... it took 3 emails before they agreed to that. It was more of the same... they don't guarantee that a service charge won't be administered unless you pay $6.99 a month... so basically... I am not guaranteed working internet for the monthly charge I pay... I have to pay extra... Oh... they did offer to give me a one time credit if I agreed to subscribe for a minimum of 6 months to the $6.99 a month service contract... give me a break. read more

My parents have SuddenLink TV service at Sun City Georgetown. One of the main things they want to watch is Turner Classic Movies. I assured them that in my experience all the lowest cost TV cable/satellite services include TCM in their most basic packages. But they can't get it on their current plan. I just looked online and see that a person has to have the 4th level (from the cheapest) package to get TCM! That is crazy and a real insult to our older citizens who have no interest in most of the junky channels included in a majority of packages. Furthermore, I couldn't even find how much it would cost to get SuddenLinkSelect TV, the cheapest package that includes TCM. I am appalled and dismayed by this situation. There aren't any negative stars to give this company. I discontinued my cable TV service on April 22, 2023 and was told that my next bill would be pro-rated to reflect the change. Optimum automatically drafted the entire $180 out of my checking account!! I went to the store in Wolf Ranch to get to the bottom of this and get my money back. The first person I spoke with only wanted to argue with me. The second person I spoke with assured me that he would have the manager contact the following Monday (this was Saturday when I went in)! I am being charged for a service fee for a modem that refuses to work. I have received absolutely horrible service for the time I have had internet with this business. I have completed everything in my possible power to make this modem work over the past week. I am being told I may need another new modem after it was exchanged last Wednesday. Then my modem had a bad password that I could not access, I had to call back again to reset it when I was told 24 hours prior it was illegal to do so. My conversation are night and day between every call. I can never watch movies, I can't work from home and spent 8 hours in a coffee shop today for work listening to background noise and will spend another 8 hours in a friends home tomorrow. Why am I paying for this service that doesn't work and then I need to get a service tech who will change me $60 to look at what has never been fixed or working? I have been paying for this broken service over a year +. Why is this so hard to correct and help me. Why is every call so different. What number am I dialing to find people who are so lost and literally reading from different scripts and legalities especially when the password was not changed on Wednesday last week in the afternoon, I picked up the modem so the password was new and called to get access to it. 3 hours later I was told it was illegal to change my password and again an hour later to see who I could get ahold of. Then on Thursday or Friday I call again and they changed my password finally after they confirmed my password on the box was incorrect and misprinted. Now today I was told my box might be broke again. I know I'm not going crazy, but this is Ludacris. I called this morning and the gentleman told me he put extensive notes in for whenever I come home to call again this evening. I call this evening and the gentleman tells me on the phone yet another person completely different and told me that I'm having connectivity issues per the notes..... now that is not at all what my conversation outlined one bit so I had to re explain everything all over again. So the most recent issue I have is a service technician coming out on Wednesday between 5 and 8 PM. I had to literally ask him if the person will be competent enough to be able to create a solution that way the Internet service that's being paid for functions it is useful for the entire household. As requested to unplug the router and plug back in for the test the duration of a called the modem would not reconnect to the Internet which is about 10 minutes tell me how normal this process is for a box it is connected to the Internet has no service disruptions in the area but yet takes 10 minutes to try and connect and as I am typing this right now close to 45 minutes after the car still has not connected to the Internet. Yeah the modem shows full access to the Internet with both Wi-Fi signals blaring bright blue but yet I can't connect to it with my phone laptop or Netflix which means I will be for sure working out of the house "from home"to do my job. At this point I believe Suddenlink and myself need to go see a counselor. read more

They are not honest. After having their service for 18 months and many service calls to determine our lack of reliable service, they finally found the problem, a corroded coax cable in their service box across the street. They told us that there would be no charge if the problem was outside of our home but we were automatically billed $60 plus tax. A call to their billing office yielded no relief and a manager that was supposed to call us back did not call. In earlier service calls we had been told that our modem was bad and that it was the wiring in our house. After buying two new modems and rewriting the cable lines (approximately $600 cost) we find that it was their problem all along. I would rate them a zero if I could. read more

optimum/altice mobile cell service: No stars!! Don't switch to optimum! The service is so scratchy that you cannot have a conversation without the call breaking up so badly that people ask me to call back then ask if I have another phone I can use. On every single call, every time I used my phone. It is such bad service and connection, that when trying to give an address to 911 they cannot get all the info. I had to repeat many, many times on 911 calls. Every time I spoke to someone, they told me they could not understand because 'you're breaking up'. I complained, went to the office and switched out memory cards and jumped through all the hoops. They just have lousy service. So, their service is not going to help you if you have an emergency and need to convey information over the phone. Get this! Also, I could not enter numbers on the phone when I was within a call. When told to 'press two' or 'enter your pin #' for instance, the phone would not accept entries. It is an iphone and apple assured me the phone was not defective. It's the service on the iphone I bought from optimum. So I also couldn't use the phone to access automated directories, which is a daily frustration. The apple store took my phone as a trade in and gave me good money for it. If you are using altice/optimum now, what you need to do is trade in your iphone at the apple store and buy a new one and then switch to AT&T, like I did. Problem solved! read more

I've been a customer for 2 1/2 years. I've always paid for a 1g plan however I have never received these speeds. For the most part when using WiFi I receive speeds of less than 100mbps. When wired I receive speeds of 100-200mbps. This is far less than what I pay for. When contacted about the issue I constantly get told that speeds look good on their end. The latest time I contacted them about the issues they told me to bring in my router for an upgrade. Since doing so a week ago I have spent 4 days without internet because the router does not work. My house is powered off internet, my cable, security, thermostat, all are powered through the internet. I expressed these concerns along with not being able to work and get told the soonest appointment for service is in 3 business days. I scheduled the appointment and now have been receiving scam calls that know I have an appointment with optimum and are wanting to "fix" my service before hand. So to recap, I have had far below average speeds for the duration of my time with optimum. I cannot change providers because they have my neighborhood contracted. I now have been inconvenienced personally and professionally due to their poor equipment, last and perhaps the most frustrating, it appears my phone number has now been given to scammers. read more

Stay Away from Optimum Mobile completely....they are a company that has no ethics....On Feb. 17, 2023 I ordered two cell phones...tried to cancel this the same day and was told it was impossible to cancel the order even though they were not shipped out to me for 2 more days....at which point I was advised by Optimum Mobile to just refuse the delivery from Fed Ex which I did on Feb. 22nd and they were sent back to Optimum...Optimum has confirmed receipt but to this date, almost 2 months later they are still trying to bill me $399 for the two cell phones which I never touched or laid eyes on. After numerous calls I have gotten nowhere...SO I stopped in our Local Mobile Optimum store in Georgetown Texas this week on Monday, March March 27th where I was assured the manager at that location was going to talk to her Supervisor about this mess and get back to me. It is now Friday, March 31st and no one has contacted me and the local store number is not listed on the internet so I cannot get a hold of the local mobile store. This is ridiculous, the customer service not only is terrible on the internet but even in the local store...HELP read more

We have had nothing but issues with the service we pay for. Like others in the are they are the only internet provider in the area. We have reported the issues we are having. We were told that someone would be out to fix the issue. Well the issue is at the pole not the house. The employe said someone would be out to repair it within 72 hrs. This was almost 2 weeks ago. They shut off my service even though they had my credit card on file. Avoid if you can and if you can't then make sure to take your bill off auto pay. I find myself calling at least three times a month to ask why I keep getting bumped into different packages that I don't want. I called on 9/29 to cancel out of frustration now that I have other options as I live in an apartment (before next billing cycle mind you) and spoke with someone who identified themselves as a account manager and she convinced me to stay. Finally offering me just internet for $65 as I have been wanting for years along with two months free for being a loyal customer. I checked my account and everything was correct. The $65 balance and credit was applied. On 10/15 I get a text saying my bill of $159 is due on 10/17. I called on 10/16 and asked what happened and they basically called me a liar. Told me they could "see what they could do with whatever current packages they have" and were able to get me just internet and again... my account does not reflect anything on was promised yesterday over the phone and now today my account balance is $200 due when I was told it would be $105. NO ONE answers the phones you will be on hold for 1 hour minimum so you have to drive 30 minutes to the location to speak to someone. They constantly lie to me and say I'm set up for a payment plan and then a month and a half later my wifi is shut off and I have a late fee.
