Not really adding much to the reviews before me but the customer service is truly horrific and no one seems to give a damn as far as I can tell. We recently moved to Georgetown and unfortunately this was the only company servicing our neighborhood other than satellite. If Direct TV had a high speed internet option it would have been an easy decision based on the reviews I read about Suddenlink - unfortunately not an option. It all started with the wrong equipment being installed initially so that nothing could be recorded. After several hours on hold and speaking to several customer service people - one of which was at least decent to be fair - we finally realized the technician did not install the DVR box we had ordered. They are bringing new equipment and this will hopefully resolve the issue but what a pain. It doesn't help that all their customer service people seem to be located in other countries and I had a heck of a time understanding every one of them. It's really ridiculous in this day and age that monopolies like this exist in neighborhoods. I've had AT and T Uverse and Spectrum in the past and, while their service is fairly poor as well, no comparison to Suddenlink. Their management ought to be ashamed! read more

Suddenlink cable TV has technical issues on a regular basis and they have figured out how to establish a support system that makes every step as time consuming and painful as possible. Today's episode includes multiple 5 minute reboots while being forced through an automated system that put me on hold for quite a while before abruptly disconnecting. If you sign up as a customer, hope that you never have anything go wrong with your cable box. But it will. read more

Funny story, I had Suddenlink installed today. Thirty minutes later there is an error on the display. I called technical support and they quoted me $60 for a technician to come out and see what the problem is. I let the representative know that I just had it installed today and are already having problems. She says there is nothing she can do about that. This company is affecting my quality of life!!! This is in support of having alternate ISP in georgetowntx besides suddenlink as I have connectivity issues and continuously disconnect and reconnect to service. Forget streaming I can't even browse the net without issues. With this provider I had to increase in pay for service in order bring to initial service quality. Paid for B but received D until paid A finally receiving C level of service. Fed up with this company. Georgetown needs to get away from this contract to provide decent service. read more

We had a tech come out due to problems stated in my first review. Turned out that they moved our router to be closer to the TV, and it's further from the computer. Suddenlink tried to charge us a service call, but this was something that should have been done right in the first place. They cancelled that charge. Our internet has been working very well since then. There's been no dropping, no buffering. So surprised! And there are other carriers in town but no large company. read more

Signed up with their 2 year offer of $45 for 400 mbps internet service. 14 months later, they increased the price. My bill went from $60 to $82 with no notice or reason, not that any reason would be OK since I signed up for a 2 year deal. I've called them twice, with their agents asking me questions to verify my account after I've verified the account, then telling me that my bill went up. Thanks, that's kind of why I called. Then they pointed to a statement on the bill that says they can raise prices when they want for any reason. This basically means their offers are not worth the paper they're printed on. I've asked to escalate twice, and twice, they said someone would call me. So far, no one has called back or made any gesture to make it right. Closest thing was to offer me a one time $5 credit for my "inconvenience". To sum up, the connection is OK, I can ignore the occasional drop in service since there haven't been many that are longer than 1 minute at a time. Their offers of deals and prices are worthless since they change it at their whim. their customer service can offer no information other than what you already know, far less anything helpful. Any escalation is met with a promise of a call back that is never met. You have no recourse other than to seek out other services. read more

Typical cable company. Change too much and no variety of what on tv. Same movies over and over. Internet service is ok but you can tell the signal weakens during peak hours. Devices start buffering. Charge way too much as all cable companies do. Nothing special or different about them. Altice one secondary box disconnects all the time. I've been a customer of suddenlink for 5 plus years. I never had a reason to call into them for issues until November of this year. After doing that I realized their service is the worst and they don't listen/value their customers. Their reps will hang up on you after they can't do anything to convince you to not cancel service. I would strongly recommend not doing business with them. Their sales team is great but that's where the best of their service stops. If they provided good service I would be willing to pay double what I was paying. So this is the reason I'm giving AT&T a shot. read more

Haven't had any real bad problems with the internet, it goes out sometimes, but I haven't had another provider, so i can't compare. But it's the (lack of) customer service that is HORRIBLE. it's nearly impossible to get a human, then when u do it's someone who barely speaks english and understands it even less!! I'm on hold right now as I'm writing this, I'm sure I'll get hung up on once the person from another country picks up and acts confused & irritates me for another 10 minutes. Absolutely the worst ISP anywhere in the US. Basically a criminal organization that lobbies local government to get exclusive rights to the cable in the ground to then disregard maintenance of said cable while charging their customers a premium for terrible quality internet. I pay for 350mbps I am getting 1-5mbps for probably 25% of the total uptime and each month the internet goes down 2-3x for stretches of 4-10 hours. I've never experienced such a terrible ISP before. Avoid suddenlink at all costs, when I said they're a criminal organization I wasn't exaggerating, the communities need to do something to eradicate this business and condemn its practices. read more

I would give 0 Stars if I could. We walked in and a young lady named Angela asked if she could help us. We said yes we are looking for info on their packages. She sat behind her desk, we then explained to her we were moving to a new home and wanted some info. She wasn't motivated at all and appeared to care less if we signed up or not, stayed or walked out, displaying no professional sales appeal at all. She handed us a sheet of options and again never really explained it all. We picked a package and the 1G internet and she said it would be close to $200 a month and 10 days before they could show up, because of the fiber install. We asked for an information package so we could talk about it and she said we don't have anything to give out. We said thanks and walked out deciding not to go with Sudden Link. Well, come to find out, they're the only ones in the new subdivision for now, so I went online today and got tons of information that Angela never explained to us. We did sign up for the 1G Fiber Internet which will be installed in 10 days. We decided on Dish Network for TV with their top TV package for a much better price than what Sudden Link offered on their top TV package. I did call the office manager today and complained and told him all of the above. He said he would look into it and apologized several times. So stay tuned for an update on their installation and service on their 1G Fiber Internet which runs $70 a month, $80 a month if you use their router and $90 a month if you include their service call insurance. Worse. Service. Ever. We pay hundreds of dollars every month for a bundled package from Suddenlink. I work from a home office, so reliable internet is a must. You know what's coming next.... I spend half of my day waiting for my internet to come back. Internet connectivity is sporadic, spotty and pretty much the quality of a remote Amazon jungle village. When you call, they tell you it's all your equipment. We finally surrendered and bought a new everything. The problem is the same. You call again and they will argue you to the wall that the problem is yours, not theirs. I hate them. They hate me. And for some unknown reason they don't have any competition in Georgetown, TX. If you have a choice, don't move to Georgetown - as it turns out, the benefits of civilization are essential for the virtual office. read more

I recently moved to Georgetown. Unfortunately, Spectrum doesn't serve the area east of the university, so I had to sign up for Suddenlink. I called to verify that my area was covered, and that I could get the services needed: Cable TV and internet. Their sales people push some magic "Altice ONE!!!11!" box. They don't know if you can connect an ethernet cable to it, and wave off any concerns that you might want to wire a desktop and other devices to it. Pshaw! No one uses WIRED ethernet these days! Everyone uses WiFi! Yeah, but, streaming Netflix/Amazon, desktops that don't have WiFi adapters, an Xbox, all of that's gonna swamp out the channel, and I have 5 neighbors... It'll be fine! Um, I'm a wireless engineer, and, no, it won't. I can tell already that my neighbors are saturating the spectrum. Well, we don't do wired ethernet, so, WiFi it is! Now, do you want the super channel package, or the sports monster package? Telephone? Security Cameras? A call to their pre-sales tech support yielded some better results. They do have cable modems, and they support CableCard (Tivo). They don't provide a service to wire your house for ethernet, but if you can manage that on your own, fine. Their office is off of Williams drive. Hint: It's hidden behind the McDonald's. Get a sandwich and a drink, you're gonna be there a long while. With 5 people in front of me, and 3 customer service reps (each with a customer), it was a 90 minute wait before I sat with someone. Most of the people were leaving the office very frustrated, and with their issue not fixed. When I finally sat with a rep, I was told, again, that it's the all-in-one Altice ONE!1!! box, or nothing, and too bad if that's not convenient for you. After trying to configure a CableCard on the account, which is somehow not compatible with Altice ONE!!!11!!, she relented and gave me what I asked for: A high def tuner box, a cable card, and a cable modem. That process took nearly 45 minutes. The cable modem worked, pretty quickly, but the hi-def tuner did not, and neither did the CableCard. Calling into their tech support is a nightmare. You can plan on spending 10 minutes or more while their automated tech support "Sends a signal to your box", then makes you wait, continually prompting you to admit your issue is fixed, before a really condescending sequence of "We need to reset the box." wait. "We'll try and do it remotely." wait. "Press star if it's ok to reset your box." wait. "ok, this may take a few minutes." Wait some more, and then, the automated time-waster admits that it couldn't accomplish that task, and then, over a few minutes, carefully guides you through the apparently brain-surgery level task of unplugging a power cord and plugging it back in. ...and waiting some more, before it gets around to transferring you to someone completely clueless, and not able to do anything more than what the automated system attempted to do. More time wasted unplugging and rebooting and resetting and re-signalling, before offering an appointment for someone to come out. ... Sometime between 8 am and next Thursday. They are not on time, and blew their 4 hour service window by an hour before getting the "Hey, the tech is on his way!" call. "He'll be there in the next 20 minutes" actually means he'll be there in 90 minutes. However, they seemed to be a little more technically adept than their call center staff. The Tivo never registered the card properly. Went through the whole insulting process to unplug, reboot, re-register everything, only to spend another 90 minutes on the phone with someone who barely speaks English, and has no knowledge of cablecards and/or Tivos. A week later, and the hi-def tuner stops getting channels. Or, we notice it a week later, because we watch most TV via streaming (Netflix/Prime). We don't call, for a week, because it's so much hell to deal with their support. When I finally do call, the person has no idea what a cable card is, and keeps trying to replace the cable MODEM, which is the only service that I'm paying for that *is* working. She can't look up my call history, nor my equipment. It's another half hour of frustration before I tell her that she needs to send a tech out to troubleshoot. Now I know why so many of my neighbor's houses have a DISH antenna on them. From my friends' experience, I know that Dish sucks, but for most of them, it was that or nothing. How bad does the local cable have to be to warrant that kind of take rate in a neighborhood? If there were any other service in my neighborhood, I'd have told SuddenStink / Altice goodbye, or never signed with them in the first place. Their support and customer service are absolutely horrible, on a level of old Southwestern Bell's arrogance and incompetence. FWIW: The promised "gift card" has never materialized, but at this point, they should cash it in themselves and buy their tech support staff a clue. read more

Thought Suddenlink was bad... Then I was forced to have this garbage after optimum bought out Suddenlink. Now I get crazy packet loss, and constant disconnections, buffering, etc.. Thought it was the modem, bought a new one... nothing. Bought a new router... nothing. Bought a wifi extender... nothing. Now I have 3 routers (2 being used with ai mesh), 2 modems and a wifi extender with the same garbage connection. How can you claim the ability to "Stream 4K UHD, multi-player gaming, work & learn from home for the whole family." When I cant even get though a single game of Valorant on one device without having packet loss out of my a$$. I also sadly have no other choice as this trash is my only option in the area read more

I called on Thursday and the recording said it was a 2 hour wait but I could leave my number for a call back within 20 minutes. 3 hours later I received a recorded call stating that it would be a week before they could call me back. They have also overcharges by hundreds of dollars, Try getting that back! 4 calls and finally they fixed and refunded the $$$. I also found that I was not able to pull up my previous statements to help resolve that issue. The last person I spoke with was an IT guy who was really great and resolved all m issues. I'm sure he has gone somewhere to work. Georgetown Texas has no other options for internet so we are stuck. SOMEONE HELP US! read more

This by far has been the worst thing about living in Georgetown. The service sucks (internet randomly goes out often even with me paying for an enhancer to avoid this issue) and the customer service is even worse( never allowed to speak with supervisor and customer service rep talks over you, they completely do not understand what you are saying) I was charged a restoration fee even with being on AutoPay. They never charged my card for the month which is why they interrupted services. After sitting on the phone for over thirty minutes with them I was denied the right to speak with a supervisor and the customer service rep repeatedly said I can't speak to a supervisor. read more

Enjoy being told that you will receive a $50 Amazon gift card as a sign up bonus, only to wait 6 months later for them to tell you that you were never owed a gift card and there is nothing they can do about it? Enjoy being told that your router will be un-linked from the previous tenants account only to find out that it never happened? Enjoy being refused a refund for early cancellation? Yes??? Well great, Suddenlink is for you!!! ------ They are good at taking your money, but need a refund? Forget about it. They are only helpful when they are taking your money. Be warned, When you call to sign up or add to an existing service, you will get little to no wait time and forwarded to a nice and friendly USA-based call center where they will be happy to assist you in taking your money. Anything else such as issues with service, billing questions, or refunds, and you get to deal with their unhelpful Indian-based call center. We were owed a partial refund for early cancellation of service.We tried to get the refund the by doing the right thing - we contacted Suddenlink so that they would have a chance to resolve the issue. After almost 7 calls to billing we still had no refund... The only possible way to get a refund from Suddenlink was to dispute their charge with our bank. Suddenlink refused to give us a partial refund, so we took a full refund. Just be warned that if you dispute a charge with your bank, Suddenlink will have their collections agency after you. read more

Mark this up to I should have known better... I decided to switch service (TV & Internet) from AT&T to SuddenLink based on pricing. I scheduled my appointment more than a week in advance for today Saturday 12/19 at 8am - 11am. I woke at 6:30 today ready for the installation. My wife needed to go to the post office and store so she left while I waited. At 10:50 am she returned and asked, "the technician isn't here yet?" I called and texted with support for the next 1 1/2 hr. to find out where the technician is. Eventually, one of them told me, "I see a note on the account from the technician that says you were not home when he arrived." "That's a lie," I said. "I've been up and here and waiting since 6:30am. I also have 3 dogs that bark at everything and a camera on my doorbell. He was never here." So the tech lied about me not being home, the call center has no way to reach the local tech group, and I can sit here until 5pm for a call and go back appointment that I honestly doubt will happen. I don't post many reviews, and I try to be fair when I do because I work in a service industry as well, and I understand the value of honest praise and criticism. I will update this review if the later appointment happens and all goes well, but after this initial frustration I doubt they can earn more than 1 or 2 more stars from me. What a joke of a company. As soon as Spectrum and/or ATT are in the area Suddenlink will lose 90% of their customers. Most of their employees are incompetent (likely due to poor training) and not at all helpful and often times surly or rude (likely due to a corporate culture that allows it). What other cable company would be closed on Saturday or require a tech visit to replace a defective box or modem and charge you for the visit. I'd give a no star if I could. Horrible service. Anytime I've called, I've had more than a 20 min wait for them to call back. Then I've always spoken to someone with a thick foreign accent. Today, a guy sent me to billing to give me an idea of what my bill would total bc he couldn't tell me. I waited over 20 min for someone in billing to answer. I hung up to call back to press the option of them to call me back. Not an option. So you have to sit and wait or schedule them to call you back a week later. Yes. A week. We cancelled within the sixty days of service with them because they couldn't get a tech out to fix our internet. For two months now they have continued to charge us when we no longer have internet through them. They charged us for a modem when we bought our own and never used there's. Very frustrated with the lack of customer care. People that take time to call you, explain the mistake (it's embarrassing to have a late payment) and be told after a long hold that nothing can be done is very cold. I have been a long standing customer and you treat me with no respect. I hope the $10 makes you feel better, it makes me feel like a child that had his allowance taken away. Only giving one star because Yelp won't allow me to give them less I live in a place where they are my only choice. The installation tech was nice and service was good for the first month. I have to reset the box about 7-10 times a week. Sometimes it goes out for hours. About a month ago I had to replace my box. NOW My TV and internet have been out for several days, and a tech won't be here for another 4 days. My child needs it for school; I need it for business. I have their cell service; now it is slower than a turtle climbing Mount Everest. After I signed up, they offered twice as much service for half the price. Their physical office tells you to call "customer retention". Their customer retention is in a far away land and tell you to visit your local office. No one cares. If I had a choice, it would not be Suddenlink. That said, I believe most isp/tv companies spends about 80% on marketing and sales and the rest on support and billing. Suddenlink is offering a deal if you use their service you get 27.00 unlimited service with Altice Mobile phone Service. STAY AWAY! It's a SCAM. After a few months your phone indicates that there is no SIM card, you cannot make calls or text and the techs are not allowed to talk to you on the phone, give you the run around .
