I had a bad fall and my prescription trifocals were trashed (frame broken and lens shattered) right before I was to travel for Thanksgiving. Arne explained that it would take a few days to replace them. So he made me two pairs of loaners from my prescription, one pair for distance and one for reading. No charge! When I got back from my trip I returned the loaners and picked up my new glasses. He also gave me a huge bottle of lens cleaner, several cloths and an extra case. Hooray for Arne! read more

I typically only yelp for stellar service but this is the opposite. I walked out of here w a wildly different prescription and a sub-par eye exam than the ones I received at UCLA optometry. When I went to switch out the lenses at UCLA I found out that not only was the prescription off but that I had been experiencing severe headaches because there was no prescription lense in my right eye. When I called to see if there was anything they could do to assist me they cut me off, told me I like to talk too much, and said they would do nothing unless I came in. I was so offended that I'd rather eat the 80 bucks for the lenses than deal with any of those people again. The eye exam is dirt cheap, for sure, but, as the old adage goes: you get what you pay for. read more

Look, I don't usually write reviews, but I've been to this place for my fourth pair of glasses now, and they deserve a review from me. Even in the face of Warby Parker et al, this place still stands up and stands out. How many places can you get a stylish frame at a good price that they'll make it for you in half an hour? That's crazy. That's unnecessary. That's awesome. I feel like I'm getting an oil change or hanging at CVS waiting for some antibiotics to be filled. But no. They're making GLASSES back there. It's fun to shop all the vintage frames that you don't find other places. I'm not into brand names, so I could care less about Ray Ban, and care more about finding something interesting and random, such as a pair of metal frames made by Nintendo. Nintendo? That's crazy, too. That's a story right there. They'll work with you, also, within your price range. If you need a quick pair, and have your prescription, it's a good place to go. read more

You can walk-in for an eye prescription, if you have an hour to throw away. We walked in and were warmly welcomed, told we are lucky since they had a cancellation and they had a slot for us right now. The optometry part was fast, but we were asked to pay cash in the back room before we were to be seen by the ophthalmologist. Half hour of waiting in the waiting area, when we asked if we they can check how much longer is the wait? The retort was, "did you have an appointment? The doctor is busy." Verbatim. A total of over an hour later, we finally got our prescription. Walk-ins welcome? False advertising. There are easier ways of getting your prescriptions these days. read more

Driving down Pico, I saw their gigantic $39 eye exam sign. So I walked in to inquire. The kid who came to help me was not very nice to begin with. He said it would either be $79 or $99 for an eye exam for contacts. I asked how I would know what it would end up costing me. He said, well bring $99 with you but we can't do this today since the doctor's not in. I saw that it said ODR or something on his card and that he gave me a different card for the doctor. Naturally, I asked what ODR stood for and he got real smug with me. He said I ask too many questions and then said: "who are you?". Obviously, he's insecure about whatever shady thing it is he was trying to pull. I didn't appreciate the arrogance and hence just went back to my old optometrist who charged me $49 with no gimmicks and also treated me with respect! No one who disrespects prospective customers deserves their business. read more

I am very disappointed with the Optics portion of this business. I do very much like Dr. Arne and would return to him. However,I bought a pair of frames and lenses there after my refraction. I was told in no uncertain terms that these came with a 90 warranty. I chose them specifically for the style and the color. My frames fell apart and I took them back within the 90 days, and they did not have the frame I purchases, because I obviously purchased their last pair. Instead of reordering them for me ( they were Italian manufacturer) they talked me into a very inferior other pair, and charged me something for them. I bought that scam, and went home unsatisfied not wanting to make a big deal. Now these are broken, and I went back to see about getting them replaced since I was given a bad deal in the warranty. What I was told on the return is that I was mistaken about the warranty. According to them the warranty covered the prescription. Why would a doctor warrantee a prescription? I like Dr. Arne and he had nothing to do with this. I would imagine he would not like this very much. I was also personally insulted because I know when I purchase something whether or nor I have been told it has a warranty. Since this incident, I have heard from several others that they have had a similar experience. I will never return here and hope this is informative. read more

Everyone should have a good doctor, a good mechanic, and a good hairstylist/barber. When you find one of those that you can trust, that really does a good job, you stick with 'em. I'm here to say I found a good "glasses" guy. I found THE glasses guy. It's Arne. In need of affordable glasses (lost a lens in my regular glasses and my prescription rayban sunglasses were stolen and I have no vision insurance) I noticed Arne's place driving by recently. Let's be clear, I live in Granada Hills, I am in no way "close" to his shop. But after looking at his other reviews I figured I'd give him a call. I needed an updated eye exam which they no longer do on site, but Arne referred me to someone nearby, that took me right away and really took care of me, not just someone trying to upsell me on everything to make a quick extra buck. Just by Arne giving me such detailed directions over the phone for the eye exam, I could tell he had amazing customer service, even having never met him, and once I came in, he did not disappoint. Arne went above and beyond for me; I was worried I wouldn't make it back to his shop in time but he told me to call him when the exam was done and if need be, he'd stay open later to make sure I could get glasses that day. I came in for my eye exam appointment today at noon and walked out with my new glasses in hand by 12:30pm. The whole experience was extremely pleasant. Everyone was super nice, helpful, and informative. I came in because of their $39 eye exam advertisement, and I was expecting that low price to be countered by perhaps higher prices on their frames/lenses... boy was I surprised! The prices for everything were quite reasonable. I even upgraded to anti-glare lenses for only $30 (compared to over $100 for the same thing at LensCrafters). They've earned a lifetime customer, and I'm definitely recommending them to my friends and family! read more
