In short, within only about five months of our original purchase, two LINDBERG frames each developed a crack after approximately two months of normal use, and after the second failure, we were not offered a repair, replacement, or refund for the cracked replacement frame. We purchased a LINDBERG frame with premium lenses here about five months ago. After approximately two months of normal use, we noticed a crack developing on the inner/lens side of the frame. We brought the glasses back to the store, and the frame was replaced under warranty. Unfortunately, after approximately another two months of normal use, we noticed a very similar crack developing on the replacement frame, in essentially the same location on the inner/lens side. The glasses had not been involved in an accident or exposed to unusual heat, and we did not use alcohol wipes on them. We returned to the store and explained what had happened. Given that two separate frames had developed similar cracks in essentially the same location within such a short period, we hoped the repeated issue would be investigated and that a reasonable resolution would be offered. However, we were told that the frame would not be replaced again because it had already been replaced once under warranty. The only solution offered to us was to purchase another new frame ourselves, while the store would cover the cost of new lenses. What makes this experience especially frustrating is that no solution was offered for the cracked replacement frame itself - no repair, no replacement, and no refund. The only option presented to us requires us to pay for another frame, even though our original purchase was made only about five months ago. They did not give any reason of the cracking or offer anything else, except asking us to buy a new frame. What we do know is that two separate LINDBERG frames supplied through Century City Optometry developed very similar cracks in essentially the same location after roughly two months of normal use each. For an expensive LINDBERG frame with premium lenses, this is not the product reliability or after-sales experience we expected.

My prescription has not changed in 20 years. Recently, I was recovering from pink eye while all three of my children--including my infant son--were home sick. I had thrown out my last pair of contacts because of the infection, but Dr. Yang would not authorize even a one-time refill without an in-person exam, even after I emailed explaining the situation. I wasn't asking for unlimited refills. I just needed one more pair while my children and I recovered fully. I need lenses to function normally and the denial significantly impacted me. Given that my prescription has been stable for years and my current lenses work well, I found the refusal to offer even a short-term solution unnecessarily rigid. I was also surprised that someone so recently recovering from pink eye would be expected to come into an optometrist's office. Thankfully, I discovered that Walgreens offers an online vision test now!!! I was able to renew my prescription remotely and order new contacts instantly. This is such a huge relief! I'm sharing this so that anyone else who finds themselves in a bind knows there is another way to access the medical supplies they need. (I previously lived in the EU, where you can purchase contact lenses over the counter, so requiring an office visit for someone with a long-stable prescription seems excessive to me, and this was something Dr. Kummer was really reasonable about.)

He gave us both free glasses, saying they were gifts. The glasses he offered me were put on order because I needed to go to the doctor to get my eyes checked for my most updated vision script. A week ago, I got a call from someone else at this store telling me I owed them 900 dollars if I wanted the (by then, finished) glasses to be shipped to me. Clearly my friend and I had been pulled into a messy and bizarre situation with an employee who had gone rogue. The owner of the store was immediately sarcastic, confrontational, and condescending about the situation rather than handling it with the humility and clarity you would expect of the owner of a supposedly customer-forward, high-end shop. Apparently the employee had been fired for general misbehavior. She didn't consider that she might be talking to a potential future customer who would be sympathetic to the situation and continue shopping there in the future -- let alone somebody who works in New York media. Which I do, under a pen name, and under this name I also have a following of 200k across social media platforms. Most of my audience consists of fashion-oriented shoppers, stylists, writers, and editors. I have been debating whether to post about my experience to my audience, and I decided to go ahead and do so. Not only was this handled unprofessionally, but now I have to worry about the fact that my personal information -- medical prescription, home address, phone number, and birthday -- are in the hands of someone who is apparently a scammer. I was prepared to see this business as the victim of a bad apple employee, but the way the owner handled this led me to the conclusion that this is just a dysfunctional place. P.S. The friend that I was dining out with when we met this guy is the director of an art gallery that is local to the area, so brilliant job alienating your neighbors.

After deciding to purchase frames elsewhere, I was told I was good to go, but I was not provided with a signed copy of my prescription. I called and requested that it be emailed to me. They said they would send it, but I never received it. I eventually had to stop by the office to pick up a copy in person. The copy they provided was still unsigned. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and frustrating. I would recommend going somewhere else.
