My usual optometrist closed their nearby location (and didn't have any Saturday appointments for another 2 months) so I decided to try out Pico Optometry. Once I confirmed they accepted my insurance, I was able to schedule a weekend appointment for an eye exam that same week via email. At my appointment, the person working the front desk was very warm and polite while I filled out new patient paperwork and waited to be seen by the doctors. I had two different doctors do my eye exam and prescription check, both of whom were friendly and completed the process quickly (admittedly, I was the only person there, might be different on a weekday). Afterward, I went back to the lobby to select my frames. The first section of frames are all lower priced which were free with my insurance allowance, although I did have to pay ~$200 due to the type of lenses I picked. After paying, I was informed that it would be about 7-10 business days for my glasses to be ready for pickup, it ended up being 8 calendar days. When I picked up it was just a quick adjustment and I was in and out within 5 minutes. I feel asleep with my glasses on. Somehow they came off and I accidentally popped a lens out. I tried to put it back in but couldn't. I can't give an opinion about the doctor, because I never got past the incredibly rude person who answered the phone. I saw an appointment available on their online appointment system, but thought I should call, as I was looking for a first appointment for my child. I asked about the available appointment and was told, "That is just not acceptable!" Uhhh, Dude. It was on YOUR site, just tell me nicely that I need a longer appointment! He put me on hold to "double check" then came back and said, "Young lady, the soonest I can take you will be 4 weeks from now." Excuse me?! "Young lady"?! I'm a grown woman who already explained that I was calling for my daughter. I might not have minded this condescending comment if he hadn't already been so rude and told me what was "acceptable" to him. Polite telephone manners aren't hard. If the best I could do was take someone four weeks from now, when the online site seemed to indicate that they could come in the following day, I might apologize for the delay, suggest that I put the person on a waiting list to call if there were a cancellation, etc. etc. At the very least, I wouldn't call a woman I don't know "Young Lady," or tell them what was "acceptable!" to ME. Instead, I might inquire about what was convenient for THEM. Who has time for rude treatment?! Could be the best doctors in the world, but they should know that a patient's first impression is talking to the front desk. The doctors might want to consider some training, an inquiry about what's going wrong in this guy's life, or treating him better so that he treats potential patients better! read more

Beyond Dr Logan's exceptional expertise (which is why I will always trust a competent optometrist over and ophthalmologist on practical matters of the eye); Walter is simply astounding. They are busy - for that reason - yet he handles the cacophony in a chaos with steadfastness and courtesy. Juggles like magician. Front office staff are friendly and helpful!! However, the optometrist Dr. Maiys Lyn is extremely rude. She had a car emergency the day of my daughter's appointment which of course is no one's fault. However, when she did arrive (30 minutes late) she walked right past us in the waiting room with no greeting. When she called me in she did not apologize for keeping us waiting and did not introduce herself. During the appointment she implied that my daughter was lying that she could not see the board at school, and also spoke to me about her as if she was not there or did not understand what she was saying. We did receive my daughter's glasses very quickly. I just wish that Dr. Lyn was more friendly and welcoming to her patients. read more

My Mom was referred to this place. Big mistake. They asked her to pay in cash and won't give her a receipt for the money she paid. She couldn't see with the glasses they made for her. She brought the glasses to her eye doctor and was told that the glasses did not match her presciption and her doctor wrote a note to take back her eyeglasses to this place so it can be corrected. To date, she has not gotten back her glasses. read more

This place SAVED MY LIFE. I was visiting my son and my right lens popped out of the frame. Luckily I was in the apartment and didn't lose it. I noticed that the screw was loose so I checked for a nearby optometrist and found Pico Optometry. I got my spare pair of glasses from its case and believe it or not, the right lens of that pair was out of the frame too. The entire screw was missing. I started panicking as I absolutely cannot see without glasses. I called Pico Optometry and Kelly said to come by. I put on my prescription sunglasses and hustled over. She was so sweet, fixed both pairs...tightened one pair and replaced the screw on the other, even insisted on checking my sunglasses. All for $6 for the screw. If I lived in LA, I would be a customer for life! read more

I just had an exam there yesterday. As someone who's been dealing with eye doctors since the age of 8 I can say Dr. Logan is superb. Very thorough exam, she covered everything, didn't rush, answered all questions. Office staff was great too. There was a glitch with my insurance so I ended up paying a copay that I didn't have to. They called this morning to return the money and followed up with the email showing proof money was going back to my card. Great service and great doctor. Do not go here, especially if you have MediCal! The receptionist & female Optometrist are both very nice. The two men here, are & were awful. They made my glasses in wrong color, right frame, wrong color, matte black, IVE ALWAYS HATED MATTE, so I know I didn't choose it. When they were ready for pick up, I went in, only the younger man was there, in white "Dr." coat, so I assume he is a Optometrist, (I had only dealt w Walter) I said I was there to p/up my glasses, he tossed them across desk in a thin fabric cover. I asked if they could fit them to my face? he said I'd need to come back for that, he's the only one there right now, turned away & went in back. Not even "you're welcome" after I said thank you. I didnt even notice until I was home, they were wrong frame. When I returned, I told Walter they'd made my glasses in wrong color frame, I hate matte finishes. I have pics on ph i took day I chose frame, he said since my medical insurance paid for them, they couldn't do anything. They made the error! I had also paid for a exam, for contact lenses too, out of pocket! I looked again at the section of Med-iCal frames, saw a pinkish one I like, asked when I could replace them w insurance, not til 2022! He said that's the exact same frame you have, the pink frames I held, he double checked, yep, exact same, diff color. I asked if he could give me a discount, since they made the wrong ones-that I won't wear, they look awful. He said he do $115. W/labor included! There's NO labor, they're identical, I can pop the lenses in new ones! Warby Parker does everything for $100. & they are high quality frames, these are the cheapest, flimsiest frames ever, dollar store readers are WAY higher quality! The arm on these snapped & broke in first 3 months & I've only worn them at home. There's no way they cost more than $15. ea their cost. Crooked, and so unprofessional, unreal! i was definitely treated poorly because I'm of my insurance being low income. They should of corrected their error. read more

"I was recommended by a friend to try Pico Optometry, went there and saw that they had a beautiful selection of glasses! The receptionist greeted me right away, was really nice and asked me to wait a few minutes as the opticians were busy with customers. As I browsed, the elderly optician with the gray hair was fitting a client for glasses, he seemed super nice and friendly and sounded like he really knew his stuff! He was extremely patient as he worked with the client and I was hopeful that he would help me next. Then I overhead the other younger optician, the one in his white coat, raising his voice to a client, arguing with him about the finish on his glasses. He was pretty short tempered and it was a pretty ugly conversation which took me by surprise, his rudeness was just unacceptable and I felt sorry for the client. This was not the kind of guy I wanted to deal with! I didn't want to take my chances so I just skipped out of the store. But I do want to try on some of those chique sunglasses, my friend swears it's a reasonable place to buy and he did say better to call and make an appointment and just ask for Stan." read more

Best OPTOMETRIST ever!! Love this store and the professionals who wear it like a killer pair of specs.

Well, this review should take place in two phases: (1) On the optometrist side, I found the doctors who worked with me to be very pleasant, professional, and friendly. They do a very comprehensive exam using (seemingly) cutting-edge techniques. (2) On the sales/front desk/customer service side, I had perhaps the most absurd experience of my life as a consumer. After waiting about three weeks beyond my estimated delivery date, I asked for a tracking number for my frames given that I had been given a new delivery date for each of the four times I asked, so I wanted to see the delivery date for myself. The representative responded to the effect of: "we do not give tracking numbers to customers, we have a private shipping system for optometrists." At this point I did not feel I was being dealt with honestly, but they had offered me a different frame "at no regard to cost" even though I was buying one of the most expensive frames already. When I returned to the office and asked for the model number so that I could order the frames myself, the representative told me "we do not give model numbers out to customers." So I asked: "you are telling me that I can't be told what I am buying?" And at this point, the representative became visibly irritated, rude, and condescending. So I asked, "why are you getting upset? I am just asking questions about my order," to which she responds with an angry glare: "well sir, you keep asking the same questions repeatedly so I am getting frustrated." Listen, in a past life I worked in customer service, and if a customer politely asks a question a thousand times the proper protocol is to respond politely a-thousand-and-one times until they understand, unless that customer is being belligerent--which I was not. At this point I was close to wanting my money back, but was so tired of dealing with the process that I went ahead and bought the floor version of the frames I had been waiting for and left. I am definitely never going back to this place again, and I do not recommend them due to the bizarre informational policies and condescending, rude treatment I received. The only positive thing I can say is that the actual medical side of things is top notch. The sales/service side, in my experience, was very poor. There is another yelp review that mentions the weird, secretive policies of this place. If pico optometry decides to respond to my post with a "we are totally super here to help you, we swear!" I ask you to be more genuine and actually be straight with your customers about shipping/tracking numbers, the model numbers of the glasses you are selling, and finally: do not be disingenuous and condescending towards your customers. It is a bad way to do business. read more

This place is absolutely wonderful! All the employees get along so well and treat each other like close friends and therefore are able to easily make the customers their absolute priority because they all chip in to give the customer what they need. One recent example of that, which absolutely shocked me, occurred just recently when I picked up my contacts and they brought them out to me directly to my car because I had my child in the car seat; I didn't even ask! While Dr. Logan was just fine, I was extremely disappointed by the terrible customer service provided by the woman who works at the front desk, "Emmy." She basically yelled at me for no good reason when I asked a question about the way my new glasses fit. The one other customer in the store walked out and made a big stink about how rude she was while I was there too. Clearly I'm not alone in being unimpressed by the lack of basic human communication skills. I won't be coming back for an exam and glasses next year unless Pico Optometry gets their act together and hires friendly, competent customer service professionals. It doesn't get much worse than how I was treated today! EDIT 9/26/14: I called Dr. Logan to discuss this incident, and she was shocked to hear about her employee's behavior. She and Walter gave me a call back the next week to say that they were addressing her misconduct and are re-training the employee on customer service. I was please with this response, and decided to order contact lenses through their store. They showed a proactive attempt to address my concerns and solve the problem. read more
