This is my first pair of progressive glasses and it's definitely an adjustment for me. The staff walked me through how to use them, what to expected, and how it may be blurry in certain areas because of the blend from normal to the reading lower part of the glasses. I have been here many times we know the owner. The space is great and the customer service is great as well. They usually can get your prescriptions in about a week or within two weeks. I've been using Optikos for 7-9 years. Although they aren't as fast as lenscrafters, they've really done well by me, which is why I keep going back even after moving out of Koreatown. They've always been happy to do glasses adjustment for free, and really helped out when I bought what seems to be a frame with a design defect (they broke 3 times in the same place when I was using it normally and didn't drop or sit on them or anything like that-- most recebtly within a week of replacement). They went out of their way to make it right. I've found they've made a real effort to help me figure out what best suits my needs (transitions, lens type, etc), rather than what might make them the most profit-- which is sadly pretty rare nowadays. I've been to Optikos a few times now, and while my overall experience has been mixed, I really want to highlight the excellent care I received from Dr. Joanne Myung during my most recent visit. To be transparent, my first visit here wasn't great - my prescription was off, and I ended up with lenses that didn't work for me. Thankfully, that was corrected during a follow-up, and things improved from there. This time around, I saw Dr. Myung, and she completely changed the game. She's easily one of the best optometrists I've seen in LA. She's incredibly caring, really took the time to listen to my concerns, and explained everything clearly and patiently. I also appreciated that she shared helpful resources and made sure I felt supported every step of the way. One of the few glasses stores carrying Zeiss lenses (and especially the customized digital ones). Much better clarity and comfort than my previous full spec Shamir. I don't need to explain too much about how good Zeiss lenses are here since there are many reviews online. The one important thing is that the new Zeiss gold coating is way stronger and easier to clean than it's Essilor/Shamir counterparts. If you're tired about this Essilor monopolization in the US and want the absolute best experience, this is the place you're looking for. read more

Honestly I wish I could have all my Doctor appointments exactly how this one went. I loved the contactless checkin process and was barely waiting before they called me back and started the exam. Roger was so nice and incredibly helpful - he immediately made me feel comfortable asking questions and had so much info to give me about how to leverage my insurance. Same for the doctor who gave the actual exam (I forget his name) but just really kind and helpful. Let me ask all my silly questions and I felt at ease the whole time. Definitely recommend and even looking forward to going back. For parking - there is a lot directly behind the building and they validate parking so it was free for being there under an hour for me! read more

Overall, I am very, very pleased with the service I have received at Optikos Optometry. I have always been respected and treated with courtesy. In Los Angeles, In terms of the medical/optometry care, they vave made me aware of issues related to my eyes that I was not aware of before. The doctors will tell you what is going on with your eyes, and always give advice, suggestions, or thoughts about what you as the patient can do to maintain vision care, or what changes in your prescription may be needed to make to enhance your vision. I always walk out of their clinic/shop feeling like I did the right thing by coming to their place for my optometry care. They have initiated a policy where you have to sign a document acknowledging that if you chage your appointment or don't show within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time, they will charge you $20. I don't get it. Things happen. That is too much. read more

I've wore my glasses my entire life and moved to LA recently. I went to Optikos for a new pair of glasses. I'm sure not everyone is having this problem but they have not been able to get my prescription correctly. I made them change my lenses 3 times now but my eyes have still not adjusted to it and I am still having major headaches. At this point, I am going to another optometry. My insurance allowed me to change the lenses for the 2nd time for free but I had to pay with a slight discount the third time around. I'm not sure what is going on here. read more

I went in for my yearly eye exam and Dr Julie noticed the sagging under my eyes ands informed me that I could correct this with 4 treatments of this laser treatment used to treat dry eye. Dr Julie referred me to Renee and she performed the procedure and her expertise and care were evident throughout the process. Once complete my eyes felt more open and everything looked brighter. My face even looked younger and fresher. The personalized approach and attention to detail made me feel truly valued as a customer. I'm grateful for the relief I've found and highly recommend Dr Julie & Renee's services at Optikos to anyone dealing with sagging or loose skin. This had a positive impact on my under eye puffiness. I believe the treatment's heating and moisturizing effects played a role in reducing the puffiness in that area.Dr.Julie & Renee's expertise in addressing multiple eye concerns made the experience even more worthwhile, and I'm thrilled with the overall results of the treatment. Untrustworthy, dismissive, and rude. I was talked into buying a year of contacts even though I had told Dr. Julie that I had trouble with them because my eyes are so dry I end up blinking them out. She assured me that contacts are more advanced than the last time I tried them; as I worked through the sample pack, I continued to blink the lens out. I am glad that I also bought lens for my glasses, because, by the time I finished the sample pack, I realized that contacts would not work for me. I was not informed of any return or refund policy regarding the contacts, so I was bummed. Fast-forward a year, and I came back to get my eyes checked again. This appointment was with the male practitioner in the office; I told him that on this visit, I only wanted to get glasses because of all the problems I had with the sample pack, I didn't even open the boxes I purchased. The doctor was really kind and told me that it wouldn't be an issue to return the contacts, even though it had been a year, and get a refund for the contacts. He told me to bring them in and that they would issue a refund, and the female front desk representative confirmed that it wouldn't be a problem. I returned two days later and spoke to the front desk person, an older Korean gentleman. I shared with him the conversation I had with the doctor and the other representative, and he bluntly responded, "No, that's not our policy." I asked if it could be discussed with the management and was told that I would be called back about the matter. I waited over a week for a call, and nothing. So I called and spoke with a woman named Maricela, I believe. She was very curt and dismissive. She said there was nothing she could do, that I would not be refunded, and that I could come get the unusable lenses. I asked if it would be possible for upper management to review the situation, and I was told they had, and they refused. I then asked if it would be possible to receive a call from Dr. Julie, so that we could discuss together, and was told that she would call the following day... No call, and at this point I have completely lost faith and trust in their practice. 0/10... Will not return... read more

Shady practice. Classic example of bait and switch tactics. When reading other reviews online, this appears to be a reoccurring issue. When purchasing contacts, I was quoted $180 for 90 pairs. I agreed and paid upfront after my appointment. The contacts took 18 days to arrive. When I went to pick up my contacts, I was told that I had an outstanding balance of $80. I explained that I had paid upfront and my receipt indicates no remaining balance. The representative, David, stated that the wrong price was given during my initial purchase and that it would not be honored. The representative was extremely unhelpful and unwilling to fix the practice's mistake. I was told that I would have to pay the remaining $80 for the contacts. I declined to pay the remaining $80 out of principle. This is a healthcare practice; and to have healthcare providers use bait and switch tactics to sell products that directly affect a patient's health and wellbeing is not only unethical, but disgusting. Additionally, the practice was hard selling a specific brand of contacts. I explained to the provider that I usually wear Acuvue; however, during my appointment, the provider kept pushing for a "premium" brand. Come to find out, when I go to purchase my contacts, I was only fitted for the "premium" brand, and if I wanted to order Acuvue contacts, I would need to have another fitting for $40. This practice does not operate for its patients, but rather for profit. You should avoid this establishment, if possible. read more

I've been coming to Opitikos Optometry for the last 5 years and I really have enjoy the customer service here. They remind you that you it's time for an appointment via text message plus an email, which is great because eye exams are not top priority sometimes like the dentist. Once you get the reminder then you can then go online and schedule your appointment without any hassle. Optikos is on the first floor of the building that it's in very near a Starbucks! There is a parking lot in the back which they validate for and there is also metered street parking. They are very knowledgeable and have a wide selection of glasses. Also the optometrist is very nice and listened to me and my concerns regarding wearing glasses and working a long time in front of a computer. Turn around time is also good. After you order contacts or glasses, it usually only takes a week to get back. I really enjoy their customer service and up to date technology when it comes to exams. Also i brought in my favorite pair of glasses I bought last year from them and they fixed them for me for free and gave me a nice new case! read more

This is about Dr. Jaime Chan- Terrible bedside manners and terrible optometrist. First of all, I saw Dr. Jaime Chan talking to a patient who was an elderly man She was very curt with him, ignored his requests, and rushed him out. If he was my grandfather/father I would have been angry with her treating him like that. In fact, she should not treat ANYONE like that. When It was my appointment, she asked me questions to which I would respond to, only to be cut off mid sentence. She was just going through the motions not even listening and her tone of voice was very fake. Next, I had questions regarding my eyes and her responses were very vague and all her answers had "it involves a lot of factors and is hard to explain." Well then why the heck are you an optometrist if you can't explain your supposed expertise. To top it all off, she gave me the wrong prescription for my eyes. I thought it was the wrong prescription because it was completely different than my previous prescription and had high astigmatism. When I voiced my concern, she sighed really loud and said I could pay for my office visit and see someone else. I told her I was just asking why my prescription was so different, but I took her prescription. She is the optometrist after all. I was so disgusted with her, I took her prescription and got the lenses made elsewhere. Well guess what? I couldn't see out of them! I tried to get used to them for about 2 weeks and when I couldn't stand it anymore, I went to get a second opinion at Kaiser Optometry, and the eye doctor there said Dr Chen's prescription were WAYYYYY off and that the amount of astigmatism Dr. Chen prescribed were ridiculously high. I can see perfectly fine with what Dr at Kaiser prescribed. Read all the negative reviews. This place gives wrong prescriptions to patients..... and if you are your family members get an appointment with Dr. Chan - CHANGE YOUR APPOINTMENT IMMEDIATELY to another optometrist there or better yet, go somewhere else! Lastly, they try to up sell you on their dry eye treatment which they got no too long ago. They have to make their money back somehow for buying that machine, so I guarantee every appointment you will hear that you have dry eye. read more

They gave me advice on frames and allowed me to try on as many frames as I wanted as well as gave me the best price for the vision insurance I had. My left eye has been bothering me as of late so I made an appointment to see an Optometrist at Optikos. Appointments were readily available and super easy to book online. Went in and took a bunch of tests and turned out to be ok (thankfully!). The gentleman who initially helped me wasn't so friendly or nice but he seemed to know what he was doing. Then after the initial tests and etc., I was seen by Dr. Christine (didnt get her last name) who was absolutely fantastic! She was very knowledgeable (if she wasn't, she was really good at pretending like it), very nice, friendly, professional, and patient. Explained everything to me, thoroughly examined me, and patiently showed and explained what they did, what they saw, and what i needed to do. I would definitely be back again! read more

I've been to many optometries over the years, and Optikos has been my go-to location for the last 5 years or so. I always get a satisfactory experience here. The front desk service, which entails check-in, preliminary exams, billing, and product explanation, is courteous and efficient. The optometrist herself is friendly, patient, and detail-oriented. I feel the product selection available for the eyeglasses is slightly limited, but still comprehensive enough - the contact lens are largely the same as everywhere else. The price is a bit on the high-end, but you do get what you pay for here. Especially for eyewear, which I would wear for years, I want to get a good balance between high quality and fair price. My mom isn't a English speaker, but the doctor was so kind and patient as I took the time to translate and she was so thorough explaining all of the exams and results. My mom gets nervous going to the doctors, but she told me how much she liked it and how much she wants to return. These guys at Optikos are the greatest. Customer Service and Personal Care set them two steps ahead of all the others. The Optometrist, the counter staff and Bryan in particular, worked his magic for me and came through for me. He listened to my problem and found a solution at an extremely fair price and next-day delivery. Astonishing! I wish all the businesses I frequent had this level of professionalism. I know where I'm going next time I need vision care. This review is in regards to the communication with the staff after my eye examination in regards to my contact lenses and glasses. Basically, there was none. I was initially told after my eye exam that my contact lenses and glasses would be ready in 7-10 days and they would call me to come pick them up when they were ready. Perfect, sounds good. Two weeks pass by and no call ever comes through. I then call the office myself to check on the status of my items. They told me the contact lenses were backordered and they would call me back on the status of my glasses - I never receive a call back. I call back a few days later to check on the status of my items AGAIN since I was ghosted. Initially, I was told my glasses were now ready and when I asked again to confirm, she put me on hold to double check. I was then told by another staff member my glasses were missing anti-glare coating and it would take another week to fix. I then stated my unhappiness in the lack of communication on the long status of my items, and they did apologize and stated it was because my items were not ready (even though I was initially given a timeframe of 7-10 days for pickup). A call letting me know my contacts were on back order and my glasses were going to now take 3-4 total weeks to come in would have been appreciated so I wasn't left wondering what happened and if I had been scammed. I'm giving 3 stars still because they were apologetic, but I am definitely never coming back. read more

Changed my mind of the color I'd chosen... called in and confirmed I'd go back later on that day. I get there and Renee has 4 pairs of glasses laid out for me to try on! Walked in here on a Thursday afternoon. Roger was so helpful. I kid you not, the first pair of glasses that Roger suggested was what I wanted and walked out with, but they patiently walked around the shop with me while I entertained other frames that we both knew I wasn't going to get . Roger then also kindly waited while I got approvals from someone on whether or not they liked the frames, and also checked my coordination of benefits. Roger was so patient, nice, and even funny.
