She has assisted me several times with ordering contact lenses, and her kindness and professionalism truly stand out. I typically get my eye exams done here or at Costco since the service usually feels comparable. Joni is the reason I prefer coming back to this location for my lenses. She's always incredibly accommodating, providing temporary single use lenses while my order is being processed. Even when I run out, she encourages me to stop by for more samples, no questions asked. I needed a contact lens prescription and Italee Optometric Center was somewhere that took same day walk ins with no appointments needed. The facility is nice and there was little wait time. The problem with this place is that their pricing is deceiving. I have insurance which covers exam fee with a small copay. However, in addition to the exam you are forced to pay a $60 fitting fee before they release your prescription. On top of that, they add on 3 months worth of contact lenses without consulting you or asking you if that is what you want. When asking for a price breakdown, the manager did not mention adding the contact lenses at all. He just kept mentioning that my insurance "does not pay a lot" and that's why I'm paying $260 for my total. It wasn't until I got home and my boyfriend called Italee discussing the price in which after 30 minutes of conversation the manager told us about the 3 months worth of contacts being added in. Why am I paying $60 for a fitting fee if Italee Optometric Center is ordering $220 worth of contact lenses before we know it fits? Anyways, 2 stars for bad practice and hidden charges. This place is amazing, it surpasses any optic place in the area. No appointment necessary, walk ins only. I came here for my first time to get glasses and was helped by the manager Kenny. He was very patient with me and allowed me to try on as many glasses as I'd like. He explained my financial options and made everything clear for me to understand. This place offers basic eye exam at 65$ and contact lens exam at 95$ which I personally think is a good deal. This place is clean and bilingual. BEWARE of the hidden fees if you are purchasing contacts lenses with insurance. I have an insurance with a small copay that covers the eye exam fees. However I was forced to pay a $60 fee for additional exam services. When I asked them what those additional services entail, they said it is the contact lenses that the doctor gave me as a trial, and the fact that he "followed up" after I used these lenses. However I was not made aware that these trial contact lenses would incur extra fees. When I told the manager that they should let the patients know about this beforehand, he just simply said, "Sorry," and chuckled while tapping me on the shoulder. There was no clear physical record of how much things cost. After the eye exam I was helped by a woman before the manager swooped in and told me the prices she gave me was incorrect. Additionally, there was only one doctor handling all patients, and the wait was terribly long. I would not return to this place. read more

Don't ever come to this place because it has become a fraud shop and they are ripping people off. They run a scam here - the manager named Kenny Chang asked me to put two samples in my eyes and did NOTHING except that - he called that a fitting and charged me $40 for it. He also had the worst attitude - when I questioned the legitimacy of that fee, he even threatened to "do something" to me. I had frequented this places back in the days but will never come back to this place again. And I regret not checking the most recent reviews (which has become super negative and you can see a lot of complaints but nobody seems to care). read more

I initially had a good experience and nice ambiance but then when they started charging high prices for every little thing I became concerned. They also didn't give me any trial and just straight bulk ordered my contacts. What if I wanted to order it somewhere else? Nope, no chance. They also seem to gatekeep your prescription when it's legally required to give you your prescription. I asked multiple times for the prescription and they ignored me or expressed hesitancy. Just seems part of their practice to keep you inside their business, making them money. read more

I got my glasses on Nov last yr at ITALEE OPTOMETRIC CENTER ON OLYMPIC AND VERMONT. The material they used on my glasses started to break and the transition was not even in color from the beginning. Called to let them know I was going on Saturday and the service was not great. The employee came to help me when every customer had their help leaving me at last minute. The manager said that every glasses have only two months of warranty and he could not do anything but to pay for a new lenses. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE THIS PLACE. read more

Really awesome optometry place in Koreatown. They have wide selection for both men and women glasses, ranging from high-end (Cartier, Gucci, etc) to affordable (RayBan) to smaller specialty (I saw some frames crafted by small brands in Asia). To my knowledge they also take most vision insurances, which makes it very convenient when shopping for new glasses. Parking lot is VERY big so it is never a problem to find space to park your car. They have safe protocols taken during health crises. Temperature taken before you go in, all frames disinfected after being touched, only certain number of people allowed at once, every staff member wearing mask. I felt very safe shopping for glasses. Overall, I highly recommend Italee and will go here for all of my glasses needs even though I do not live close. 10/10 from me :) read more

The only place you could get them? Italee Optometric Center...and I actually still use a pair of those for distance and one for the computer! Whether shopping for fashion statement, comfort, frame vs. frameless, or competitive range in pricing, Italee's wide variety of styles and brands is my first choice. Their lab technicians and sales persons are knowledgeable and meticulous--especially for complex vision needs. About 10 years ago I developed a 4th cranial nerve palsy, which causes double vision, and the only optical company I trust to accurately insert the precise prism in the lens is Italee Optometric. At my most recent update of my prescription, the glasses CREATED a double image rather than resolved it, and the person who discovered the problem was Chris Park. He went through my prescription records and discovered that the notation made by my doctor had been reversed, and my doctor rechecked his own records and reported that the error had indeed occurred by their office. So I truly am indebted to Italee and Chris Park for their conscientious attention to detail. I'm really happy with my new prescription glasses and the service I received. I went as a walk-in, was greeted, and was given paperwork to fill out. I was promptly attended to with an eye exam. Then, they placed drops to dilate my pupils and meanwhile, I looked for frames. There was an employee who helped with the process. I gave them my insurance information and they quickly verified how much would be covered. They told me it would be ready in 2 weeks. Within 1 week, they told me the glasses were ready for pick up. Incompetent No customer service.. Went for eye test. They issued a prescription which was totally incorrect. I relied on the prescription and ordered glasses elsewhere. I could not use them. Do not go to this place. Or if you do, avoid the guy named Chris Park. I never do reviews but had to do this one out of principle. Here's my story. I went to this place for an eye exam and some new glasses. I had bought a pair of glasses from them last year and remembered that they had seemed to have a good selection so went back. Got my eye exam done and both the optometrist and the assistant were friendly enough. Then I went to try on some glasses and Chris Park was the sales guy. First off, every time I tried to say something or ask a question, he would cut me off and start speaking. I HATE THAT. Eventually, I had to tell him multiple times to let me finish (which didn't stop him). But even his answers were almost always offensive. He has this backhanded way of insulting you or making you seem wrong or dumb because apparently he's always right. And his sour smelling bad breath didn't help either. I was tired at this point and just wanted to find a pair of glasses despite this dude. I decided on a pair and he started telling me about the lenses. He grabbed a small piece of scratch paper from his desk and started writing some cryptic acronyms and numbers on the back. Something like $40 for basic lenses up to $160 for the premium. I think there were 4 or 5 different price levels / types, each with different characteristics. So I asked him for a brochure or a pamphlet that shows this. He said there is no such thing. I was incredulous. Of course there is. Every other place I've ever bought glasses had a breakdown of the different types of lenses. "Why do you need one?", he said. "It's simple and I just explained it". For F's sake, is this guy serious right now? Anyway, despite all this I just wanted to get a pair of glasses and be done with it. So I told him I would just take the frames. So I gave him my credit card and my insurance card. He looks at me and pauses and says something like "you never told me you had insurance, now I have to go get approval" or something like that. I straight up felt like I was at a shady used car dealership. Then I looked around and realized this place was just like that. A bunch of sales guys dressed in business attire trying to look professional while ripping you off (more on that later). And then I overheard two other groups of people sitting with their sales guys seemingly almost arguing and also confused at something in the paperwork, etc. Straight up used car dealership. Anyway, I had had enough and despite all the wasted time / effort, I wasn't going to reward this guy with a sale of frames and so just paid for the exam and left. Regarding the ripping off part. Don't buy glasses at any of these places; just use these places to try them on and then buy them online. I found all the frames I was looking at for half the price online. For example, the pair of Prada's I almost bought was $330 ($280 after I asked for discount) at this place. I found them online in 5 minutes for $140. 100% markup. Are you F'ing kidding me? read more

Shows attitude for asking about the payment details and refuse to give me the explanation I need. Makes a typo on my prescription making me go back to get it fixed. I have always enjoyed my visits to Italee, as they were the only real distributor of Swissflex in the Los Angeles area. On my visit today, I just found out that they no longer carry the Swissflex brand, however, they are still bale to service and update my current frames which I still love up to this day. I got my Swissflex back in 2009 and they are still the best, lightest and most durable frames I've ever had. Also, not to mention, the design is timeless. Anyways, enough of the product. Today, Hector was the one to help me, and he was very insightful into the Swissflex brand and how a mere millimeter of the size of my lenses would make a big difference (My lenses are frameless). So I decided to leave and asked them to hand me my personal information. But he refused to give me it to me saying that there is a company's information. so he took it away and refused to give it to me. It's my personal information. I have the right. After having the awful experience of my car being burglarized, the took my 2 precious sunglasses. Living in Los Angeles, driving without sunglasses is unbearable. Thus, on my way to the market I stopped by this optometry/optical shop to purchase ones really quick. I love polarized sunglasses but i was surprised by the little selection they had on polarized lenses. The older gentleman was very patient so i ended up choosing a nice pair eventually since I didn't have much time and I really needed them. Got to love that Korean "as" (after service). Had my glasses done here for the past 30 years. They are great, I walked in with a pair of glasses that are about 10 years old and asked them to tighten them up as they were loose from wearing for the past 10 years. They took the time to tighten and change plastic parts in all the joints, and took the time to refit to my face....all with no extra charge. Great service is all I can say. My parents have been coming to this place for 40 years, and I have been coming for the past 30 years. I will continue to come for the next 20 years more. It's been a while that I visited Italee, but I was astonished by the fact that the employees stared at me as if I was a virus, it made me so uncomfortable and mad. If you're going to stare at your costumer with such disdainful eyes, please don't work anymore, it really makes the customer sick. I was introduced to this optometry by my sister in L.A, and I made a trip all the way from San Jose just to go to this place. And it was the best thing I ever did. The ambiance of this place is just beautiful and calm that you might think you are walking into a garden with orchids everywhere. Everyone looked all professional with their suits and greets you with smile and "hello!" I had a chance to work with Mr.James Lee, and he was so patient and knew exactly what style of glasses I would look good in. He was not only professional on what he is doing but went above and beyond, took care me so that I will be happy wearing my glasses. I go to the optometrist in the Galleria, which is also owned by Italee, but I like this main branch too. I stopped by recently for an impromptu check-up when one of my eyes started burning like it bathed in kimchi on my way to lunch in Koreatown. For full disclosure, I'm close friends with the owners' daughter and have been since middle school. That said, I'm pretty sure most people would agree that Italee is the leading optometrist in Koreatown. The store is big and gorgeous, and if you're in the market for a pretty set of frames, you'd do well to stop here. But this review was inspired less by the selection of glasses and more by the service. When I walked in with one of my eyes in severe pain, I did not have an appointment. My friend's parents were nowhere in sight, and I was helped by an employee who brought up my patient file and attended to me immediately. He spoke Korean and English, and after giving me a temporary case for my contacts, he took me into one of the examination rooms to take a closer look at my enflamed eye. He was kind and attentive, and told me what was wrong - no big deal, just a viral infection that would go away after a few days in glasses. There was no charge. Anyway, long story short, I like Italee. I tend to mistreat my eyes, and it's nice to have an optometrist who will tell me what to do when the poor orbs rebel. read more

DON'T GET FOOLED BY THEIR SALES!!! I had blue light blocker lens from different place and went to Italee Optical to adjust prescription for my glasses. The Korean optician (I dont remember his name) told me my original blue light blocker lens are not good one and said they don't really block blue light. So I ended up adding different kind blue light block on my new lens that he recommended. And I had to wait 2 WEEKS to pick up my glasses as he said the lens should be done by my vision insurance. It was also super expensive although I have pretty good vision insurance. I paid $130 out of my pocket only for the lens. 3 weeks later, I went to different optical center in Gardena to get spare glasses. The optician was super nice and surprisingly, he said the blue light blocker lens I got from Italee are old technique and they are not likely to be produced anymore. Besides, he explained me that the level of blocking blue light is ACTUALLY LOWER than the one I originally had. At this place, I paid ZERO for a frame and lens and lens were done in 10 mins. read more

My mom found out this and our favorite optometry place, Luxi, are sister locations so we started going here too since there is different stock. She needed one of her glasses repaired and two readjusted (my mom has a serious glasses fetish) so we popped in. First person helping my mom seemed maybe newish and actually broke one of my moms frames. They now have to order her new ones. My moms favorite person here is Thomas and he took it from there to help us out and the experience was much better. I was admiring glasses while waiting and found one I love, a lilac Prada frame, that is very different from my current Fendi maroon frames. While a impulse buy isn't possible usually for glasses, they said they can do mine in under an hour! Next door to the optometry center is their own lab instead of sending it to a third party making quick service possible. Definitely a advantage for me since I am from out of town. I can grab lunch in K-Town and have new frames by the time I'm done. Awesome! One thing that is a plus is for good customers like my mom a good deal is always a given. When I got back to pick up, someone else helped me readjust them, but was very courteous just the same. Even though I live in Vegas, I still go back to get my frames in LA.
