This optical establishment used to be top notch, however, in lieu of some recent experiences by myself as well as other friends who have originally recommended this place, we will never be going back again. The owner's wife is beyond rude, classless and condescending. Her son was really the driving force of this family establishment along with his father but he is no longer there. She has repeatedly been offensive with her comments and attitude to customers and doesn't seem to have a mindset of customer service. She has driven the customers away as business is clearly suffering from the days when it was truly an excellent establishment. There are many other wonderful optical stores who would love your business so save your time and go where your business is appreciated. Apparently, the woman has a history of poor business manners evidenced by reviews written in other platforms. Suffice to say, we are no longer patrons as well as our family and friends. I would 100% recommend Europe Optical. Before I went in to get my prescription glasses, they worked on my cousin's Chrome Hearts glasses made into sunglasses. It was reasonably priced and done pretty quickly. He's had 2 pairs made into sunglasses and absolutely loves them. This past month February 2024, I finally went in to get my prescription glasses fixed from my optometrist that has had multiple issues with the glasses I got done. They were able to figure out what was the problem and fix the two pairs the same day. I appreciate that you can come in, get your eyes checked for free and you can go home within 1-1.5 hour with your prescription glasses. NO WAITING TWO WEEKS! I have had a total of 3 glasses, Gentle Monsters (pictured), Prada's (which I had nose pads added) and a cat eye Tom Ford sunglasses made into glasses (also pictured). What I like is that you can bring in your glasses you already have or buy in store and the pricing to get the lens done and it's quite affordable. I will say they also have an expansive collection of glasses and if you use cash you can haggle a little! I got checked by Dr. M and she's so kind and easy to work with. The team that helps you choose your glasses and get your lens are also hospitable. Come through to Koreatown, this is the best, most affordable option not using your insurance. I think it's actually the best bang for your buck and I will be coming back every year. I'd rather pay out of pocket since the price of their lens is significantly cheaper than dealing with places that go through the insurance companies. 10/10 read more

I was sent here by "Pasquale" from Retro Super Future after I purchased a pair of optical frames last week. Initially, I had planned on going to my regular optometrist and had no intentions on giving anyone else my business due to : 1) inconveniences to location 2) aversion to change. Being self-employed, the high rates I pay for health insurance does not cover vision so I have been paying out-of-pocket for many years now. I called for a quote from my current optometrist and compared it to Europe Optical and there was no competition with pricing here. Normally, I wear contacts and eye glasses are only worn seldom. Last year, I got my lenses updated from Warby Parker which only costed me $50 so when I got the quote from my optometrist at over $400 (exam included), I said heck nawww! I was told to ask for GIO. He told me that they waived the exam fees when you purchase lenses. OKKKK! Well, thanks for saving me $120. You have my business for life. These days, I am not used to paying for eye exams since 1-800-Contacts (where I purchase mine) offer free online eye exams. Being the skeptic that I am, last summer, I was curious to see how accurate the exams were so I booked an appointment with my local optometrist and got the same exact results for $120 more. It's competitive out there and as a person that does not have vision insurance, you bet I will be coming back here and referring everyone and their mom to Europe Optical. The exam was super pleasant. Loved Dr. Choi's energy. She was upbeat, very welcoming and had a good sense of humor especially for a patient like me who came in right before they closed. Gio's customer service was second to none. I walked out with a new prescription and fresh glasses in under 30 minutes. Not sure how these wizards do it but why would anyone go anywhere else? The next day, I called and asked why my glasses kept making me dizzy and he told me to come in so that he could swap out the material of the lenses that may have caused it. The issue was the strength so he dialed it back to .25 and cut out new lenses and popped them in for me in under 20 minutes. He told me if I wanted to change it back that he would keep the original prescription lenses for me. Gio didn't charge me a dime and he remedied my problems instantly. This place deserves 10 stars. It'll be hard to beat their impressive speed, customer experience, pricing and quality. read more

I wanted to update my review to reiterate what a wonderful store this is. I just had my eyes examined again (very thorough exam), free with purchase of lenses and/or frames. They put new lenses in my natural water buffalo horn lenses. They conditioned the frames for THREE WEEKS! They will take the lenses out and recondition them at no cost every six months. While we were waiting for the eye exam, Mr.Nice(sorry boss, forgot to ask your name:/) gave us drink and had a fun small talk. I really enjoyed talking with him :) FYI, they offer free eye exam if you get glasses. I was dropping artificial eye drop and Jiho caught it and recommended some eye drop brands and let me know how to use gel type eye drops and gave me some samples. I asked Jiho if he can clean my glasses (Oh my, I do sound like a Jin-sang customer) He not only cleaned the glass, but he also tightened my loose part of the glass and gave me glasses case :) Thank you!! This place lost me as a repeat customer solely because of the bad experience I had with the younger lady helping me (short hair and glasses). After the first few minutes of looking around, she seemed impatient while trying to figure out what kind of shades I preferred as if it was a burden for her to take back, wipe and put back the sunglasses I was trying on. Her demeanor was cold and condescending all throughout. She picked out some of the tackiest sunglasses. The part that peeved me the most was as soon as another party walked in (and we were the only two parties), she said to me "You should come to the store during the weekday instead of a weekend so that you can move around more easily" - like WTF, I'm already there...and with this rude experience, why would I come back?! I should've left much earlier after the first few minutes. I hope she reads this to learn from her mistakes. I had a pair of glasses and I needed to change only the lenses. Then I brought the glasses to this shop. They had worked on changing the lenses, then I went back to the shop to pick it up. At the time of picking up the glasses, my glasses were already wrapped and put in a case. So without any doubt, I paid for the service and came back home. Long story short, as soon as I opened the case of glasses, I see these huge white spots (1 spot each in the center of the glasses). Those were scratches that were made by them. Day after, I brought the glasses with scratches and told them could guys fix this since the scratches have been made by you guys? Their immediate answer was "No, the scratches were probably made by you". I was speechless, I had told them to please fix the lenses because the person who had handed me the glasses didn't even be honest about causing the damage. Honestly, If they would have not lied about the scratches and told me about their mistake from the beginning; I would have forgiven them. But the way that they treat their customer is such a disgusting way. I would have not even had to write such a long review for this complaint if they did not lie.. Anyways guys Do not shop at this store, if you do, just think of consequences. read more

I've been coming here for over 10 years. Just came back because I broke my glasses. Love their free exam and the optometrist is very nice and has good energy the owner is very nice and always had good frames at good prices. They have blue light protection which helps a lot because I work looking at computer all day long. I got new glasses today and he gave me 20% off without me even asking. Europe Optical's been my family's go-to optical store for a long time now. Now that my eyes have succumbed to genetics and slowly deteriorate, Europe Optical will probably be mine too! This store's owned by the nicest Korean couple who know what they're doing. Even though they're not super young, they are very trendy and make great recommendations on frames for your face. The other people that work there are all super courteous. There used to be an elderly Jewish optometrist here but I guess he's recently retired and been replaced by a young Korean woman optometrist. Honestly, the previous doctor kind of intimidated me and the new one is much friendlier. Especially when I have to sit in front of that stupid "blow-air-in-your-eyes" machine. Terrifying. There are a ton of different frames and brands here from high end luxury brands to discounted no name Korean brand frames. They seriously have everything. They work with your health insurance as well. The nice man (Mr. Myoung I believe is his name) is definitely pretty generous with getting you a deal on your glasses. I love Europe Optical. Best optometrist in town. Received a FREE eye exam and several different trial pairs of lenses. I have a stigmatism, so to receive a trial pair or Toric lenses is much appreciated. They also have the up and coming new FDA-approval pending daily Bausch and Lomb circle lenses in brown and black. I was lucky enough to receive trial pairs in both colors! The eye doc is lovely and truly does an amazing job at making you feel at ease. She's very fast and on point. You are definitely getting quality service here. They had my selection of frames ready in less than 10 minutes. The young man helped me choose my pair of my new Paul Frames and I absolutely love them! I'll attach a pic of them. I thought my eye-sight was so bad that the only way I could ever enjoy the modern day miracle called the boob tube again was to get a bigger TV. So I bought a 55 inch flat screen. That, however, did not solve my problems. I still couldn't see. Finally, it dawned on me that it's time to get new eye glasses. I researched, of course. After reading the yelp reviews, I decided against two friends' advice to go to costco($45 eye exam plus frames and lenses) and came to this store instead. I am so glad I did. I was able to use my old frames, which are actually pretty new and in perfect working order, and just get new lenses. They did NOT try to upsell me at all!!! The whole thing ended up costing me only $80, including an eye exam. My new glasses work soooooo much better than my old lenses. I can see my 55 inch flat screen now! Maybe I can even downsize to a 46 inch? lol I also purchased new contact lenses here. They also seem to make my world much clearer and more HD.(lol) Only $20 a month, which is a whole lot lower than I imagined. The eye examiner, a 94-year-old gentleman was a racist(lol) and a smarta$$, but he was very nice and amusing, in an old gentleman way..^_* He told me I would live a long time. No idea how he came to that conclusion by looking at my eyes, but good to know!! Also, you better know how old you were last year cuz he'll pop quiz you! lol Thanks Yelp for another great discovery! This is my second time going, can I just say it's the best optometrist I've ever been to hands down. I've had glasses all my life and this is the first place I truly feel they care how you feel with you're glasses or contacts. My mom had surgery for catarax on one of her eyes and the glasses they gave her felt off to her. She tried to get used to them but she couldn't so I brought her back. The glasses the surgeon gave her were way to strong. They checked her eyes again and gave her the right glasses this time. Explain how her eyes were and how to help her see better. Can I just say how much we love this place!! I got contacts this year and she made sure I left with the correct ones for my eyes.
