Everything about this business is fantastic! It started with my exam with optometrist Dr. Osako, who explained that the reason why my previous prescriptions were not allowing me to see better is that they were too strong. My last optometrist strengthened my previous prescription because I'd said I couldn't read fine print on my TV, but what they needed to do was correctly assess my vision, which (surprisingly!) had improved. Now, with Dr. Osaka's new prescription, I can actually see again, thank goodness! And yesterday, when I went to pick up my glasses, Jacqueline, the general manager, went well out of her way to take care of me. She was so friendly and kind, and shetreated me with such warmth, dignity, and respect. I am so grateful to her and to Tim, the super-friendly and clearly talented lab technician who took care of an important need I had for my new lenses. All in all, I am thrilled that I have found such a terrific optometrist office! I love my wonderful new glasses and the beautiful case that came with them, and I LOVE the fact that I can finally see! Jacqueline immediately worked to correct the error in the rebates that I was supposed to receive for my contact lens order. She consistently followed up with Friedman Optometry's contact lens representative to speed up the rebate process, and she also checked in with me daily to assure me that the issue was actively being worked on. After less than a week, I received the full amount that I was owed, along with an extra supply of contact lenses to make up for the delay. I just came back here after switching insurances and had the best experience! I had an eye exam with Dr Haley who is so sweet. She was very polite and thorough and wanted to make sure to cross every t and dot every i with regard to my family history and medications etc as she explained they can all affect my eye health and the results of my eye exam. Even though my vision is getting worse with age (gasp), I love coming here because you can tell the doctors who work here really take pride in what they do. The front desk staff is very friendly and I even got a beautiful new set of designer frames that my insurance covered a portion of! Highly recommend this place!! read more

My daughter signed up to take the contact lens training to be able to wear contact lenses but the training is done in the main room at a long table where they are helping other customers with other things. My daughter felt very distracted and there was absolutely no privacy. She did not "pass the test"( You have to be able put both lenses in and take them out. She was able to get two in but only one out I believe) I had prepaid for a box of contact lenses. Since we were not going to be approved for the contact lenses, I wanted a refund. They offered me a credit. Which I don't think I will use. On her second session the doctor actually took her into the back one-on-one And in 5 minutes she was able to remove the lens. I would strongly suggest that they try a more private setting for the contact lens training, especially for younger kids/teenagers. read more

She picked out a great pair of glasses that fit perfect for my aunt's face frame and the color was great! Tim is always helpful with adjustments two glasses if needed .Got a great deal ! Do NOT go to this optometry office. The staff uses deceptive "bait-and-switch" tactics to increase the price after services are provided. Despite whatever response the office posts, these are the facts. When I checked in, I was told my eyeglass exam was covered by insurance and that the contact lens exam would cost $95. I agreed to that price. During my pre-exam, a second staff member also told me the contact lens exam would be $95. No one said the price could vary or increase. After the optometrist completed both exams, I was sent back to the waiting area, where another employee informed me the contact lens exam would actually cost $115. I explained that two different staff members had quoted me $95 and that was the price I accepted. She called over both employees and asked them what they had told me while I was sitting there. Both confirmed exactly what I said: they had told me the exam was $95 and had never mentioned a higher price. Even after her own staff confirmed this, she insisted I pay the additional amount and refused to provide my prescription until I did. She repeatedly claimed her staff would never have quoted the wrong price, despite them admitting they had. I left without my prescription. Minutes later, I received a voicemail from the general manager begging me to call so she could "make it right." During our conversation, she asked what would resolve the situation. After I offered several options, she proposed providing six months of contact lenses and a pair of glasses from a limited selection. However, when I again requested my prescription first, she said she would have to call me back. The next day she left another voicemail asking how she could make things right. Their actions speak for themselves. They acknowledged there was a problem privately but refused to take responsibility when it mattered. Instead of honoring the price quoted by two employees, they attempted to charge more after the exam and withheld my prescription when I objected. I have filed grievances with my insurance provider, the California Medical Board, the Los Angeles County Medical Association, the Board of Optometry, and the Federal Trade Commission. Businesses like this rely on customers giving up rather than challenging misleading practices, but accountability matters. This office says it values feedback, yet my experience showed the opposite. Rather than accept responsibility for an obvious mistake, they lie and deny, and shifted their story. There are plenty of better options for eye care. I would not trust this office with my business and cannot recommend it. If I could give zero stars, I would. Further, if and ONLY if they take meaningful responsibility and correct the situation, I will gladly update this review. Until then, do not spend your time or money here. read more

What made the experience especially frustrating was the lack of clear communication. Every time I reached out, the response was usually something like "we're working on it" or "the contacts department isn't in today," without any real updates or timelines. The staff did give me some samples to hold me over, which I appreciated, but the process overall felt unorganized and uninformative. I recently started coming here as my previous doctor retired and closed his practice. I had been with my previous eye doctor since I was 12 (I'm now 35). Right off the bat I knew I was in the right place. The staff was super friendly and explained everything to me in detail, as well as made recommendations for specific contacts, as I like the daily contacts but not all brands are as comfortable as others. I was assisted by Jennifer and Ofelia who both delivered superb service. Thank you to both for being patient with my million questions and helping me make the right decision for my new contacts and with my new meta glasses! your insurance covers a free eye exam but there's a mandatory retina screening for $59 if you wear contacts, it costs extra how much? $92 it's $115 if you have astigmatism but it could be more you would have to wait until the doctor sees you to know for sure read more

First-time reviewer. I gave two stars instead of one star because the staff is very friendly and I had no issues with my eye exam. However, the communication at this place is awful. The optometrist and optician gave me conflicting information. I had to keep checking in with the office for updates. I'm now stuck with a pair of $200 glasses that I can't wear because I feel sick to my stomach when I put them on. I've tested them multiple times. They make my vision worse. No returns or refunds? I will not be going back, but I will gladly delete this review if I'm given a refund. read more

I decided to use my insurance to get some glasses cus I couldn't afford out of pocket in the past couple years. I have been going here since I was A CHILD and all of a sudden this time I got treated SO strangely and heinously. It's like they want to accuse me of being off meds or make me feel unstable or something... I just never had this feeling or this experience here before. The doctor is obviously new since I haven't been here in decades but wow she asked if I was on my PSYCH MEDS... I do NOT recommend this place if you are a woman of color or alternative in any way. I can't exactly pinpoint the cause of the treatment but it's been happening a lot lately and it feels like they're trying to get some type of reaction out of me or frame me to be mentally ill. There seems to be some ethnic favoritism...Never again. They also gave me gigantic thick plastic lenses... I simply returned their glasses and went back to my old pair even if my prescription changed a little. read more
