I absolutely love my eye care specialist team at Friedman Optometry! I have been a patient for, geez, at least 15 years. They have been so through and attentive to me and my eyes changing needs. I was in recently and was seen by their newest doctor. She was so gentle and took her time with me- also very patient with me as I navigated my new prescription. Things felt a bit blurry at first but she taught me tips on how to acclimate to the new prescription and it was very helpful. Jay is incredibly attentive and answers your texts within minutes, as well as returns your calls, which is always great. Natasha made my eye exam flow easily and she is very patient and so nice. First-time reviewer. I gave two stars instead of one star because the staff is very friendly and I had no issues with my eye exam. However, the communication at this place is awful. The optometrist and optician gave me conflicting information. I had to keep checking in with the office for updates. I'm now stuck with a pair of $200 glasses that I can't wear because I feel sick to my stomach when I put them on. I've tested them multiple times. They make my vision worse. No returns or refunds? I actually needed to take a pair of glasses here that I had not purchased, but I needed to see if I could get new arms put on them, and when Tim got finished, the refurbished that he did gave me a whole nother pair of glasses that were simply gorgeous. And most of all, it is the warmth that I get from each member of the staff. On this particular they were fixing a pair of glasses that I'd already had for years. And I never felt rushed!! He makes sure you understand the health of your eyes and really cares about the health and wellbeing of his patients. The staff is professional and works very hard to offer the highest level of courtesy both in the store and with excellent follow through. Mari took care of my selection and purchase process. She really has a great "eye" for what works and what doesn't. She genuinely wants you to look your best and find the right fit. Tim has been a staple and remains a standout technique specialist. Went in same day for an eye exam and the front desk staff was super friendly with explaining what services my insurance covered. They were not pushy at all with the extra exam that they recommend (which I truly appreciated) since that would have been an out of pocket cost. In general the staff was great and the Dr. was very nice. The woman that helped me out when choosing new frames was extremely helpful and patient as I was very indecisive. Overall great experience. When you're new to an experience, a company should guide you through the process. I hadn't had an eye exam in over 25 years and wasn't sure what to expect. I needed glasses because I was having trouble seeing the computer, reading small print, and experiencing some fuzziness at night. This was also my husband's first eye exam, and he doesn't have any vision problems, so I assumed he wouldn't need glasses. Since our benefit allows us to get two pairs of glasses each, I planned to get one prescription pair and one pair of sunglasses for myself, and two pairs of sunglasses for him.. While the wait was long, I inquired about which sunglasses were covered by our vision plan insurance. I wanted to pass the time and try on frames until our exam. I was told that insurance doesn't pay for non-prescription sunglasses. I mentioned that mine does and asked to see the options, but was told to wait. After the exam, which was gentle and not as bad as I had feared, the doctor gave me two choices: get readers from CVS or get a prescription. I chose the prescription with a really nice frame and added all the bells and whistles. We ended up being there much longer than anticipated. Overall I am happy with the products and end results. I just think the waiting could be cut down with better scheduling, and giving the customers the chore of finding their frames 1st. We waited at least 30 minutes to be seen and then had to spend another 20 minutes for finding frames. The waiting room is cramped, and isn't a place you want to just hang out and chill. I just really like having an appointment run smoothly and not a lot of extra wait time. Suggestions for staff: Instead of waiting until the patient is there to verify their insurance benefits, call the day before or day of before the patient arrives. This would prevent confusion and reduce extra wait time. read more

I decided to use my insurance to get some glasses cus I couldn't afford out of pocket in the past couple years. I have been going here since I was A CHILD and all of a sudden this time I got treated SO strangely and heinously. It's like they want to accuse me of being off meds or make me feel unstable or something... I just never had this feeling or this experience here before. The doctor is obviously new since I haven't been here in decades but wow she asked if I was on my PSYCH MEDS... I do NOT recommend this place if you are a woman of color or alternative in any way. I can't exactly pinpoint the cause of the treatment but it's been happening a lot lately and it feels like they're trying to get some type of reaction out of me or frame me to be mentally ill. There seems to be some ethnic favoritism...Never again. They also gave me gigantic thick plastic lenses... I simply returned their glasses and went back to my old pair even if my prescription changed a little. read more

BEWARE!! I normally don't like to leave these type of reviews but my experience with this business was so egregious I had to inform my fellow Yelpers. I was recently searching for a new optometry for my family, and I came across Friedman as an option. Before committing to a new optometrist, it was important for me to do my due diligence--reading reviews online, checking the optometrist's alma mater, and visiting the optometry before making an appointment. When I visited the optometry, I was courteously greeted by the personable and kind Dr. Haley. She held a good rapport and my family and I felt comfortable scheduling an exam with her. However, she mentioned that she would be out of the office the next couple of days, so the office took my information down, copied my family and my ID and insurance cards, and informed me that they would contact me once her schedule would allow for my patient exam. However, weeks passed and I didn't receive one follow up call from this business. Today, I called to follow up when I could have my appointment scheduled, and the receptionist cryptically replied that the manager schedules the appointments and thus would give me a callback. When the office manager Jacqueline called me, she very passively aggressively informed me that my family and I would not be able to schedule an appointment with Dr. Haley. When I asked her why, Jacqueline curtly replied: "Dr. Haley felt uncomfortable with your questions." I was taken aback and completely blindsided. The only questions I had asked were to ensure the exam procedure was up to the standards of other optometrists (I.e. checking that they had a retinal scan machine) and to ensure that my eyeglass prescription could be taken to a third party like Warby Parker if I didn't find that their frame selections suited my style. I then asked if I could schedule an appointment with any of the other optometrists and she curly replied: "The optometry has made a decision that we will not see you or your family as patients." She didn't give any other reasoning, leading me to conclude that this business DISCRIMINATES. If this business did not want to see us as patients, they should have told that to our faces--not string us along wasting our time and energy chasing an appointment. Note to management: DO NOT take copies of prospective patients' ID and insurance cards if you have no intention of accepting them as patients. This is a breach of our personal information and privacy. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this optometry at all costs. read more

Terrible customer service. Retinal imaging form doesn't have opt out options for portions of the test not covered by my insurance. Asked for refund for that portion due to form's lack, admitted to by employee no less, and yet was talked to in a demeaning way insisting we don't do refunds. Not a good experience. read more
