I went there because I thought with my new EyeMed membership, I would get a good deal on some new glasses. Things started out bad and went downhill from there. I showed up for my appointment to find that they had no record of it, despite that I used the online system they insisted on and received a text telling me the exact day and time to come down. They apologized and eventually saw me anyway. Things continued in this vein, as the office staff was unable to figure out how to use one of the pre-checkup machines, and after 5 attempts which caused me some discomfort, ended up using a different machine. Not sure why they didn't use the machine they knew how to use in the first place. Again, the doctor himself and the checkup all went fine. But once things got back in the office staff's hands, more trouble. About a week later, I got a call saying my contact lenses, which I had also ordered, were ready. I trekked down there only to find that no, there was a mistake, they're not ready, come back next week. I came back the following week, and after taking a while to find them, the woman who was helping me showed up with a bag of about 8 contacts. "Are these all mine, or different prescriptions for me to try out?" She looked through the bag, then just grabbed half of the contacts, took them out, handed me back the bag and said "these are yours." What? Then she asked if I needed any saline solution or a case. I said yes, since I hadn't had contacts in years and didn't have any of that stuff. After making me wait another 20 minutes she came back and said "yeah, sorry, we don't have any of that." Meanwhile, weeks went by with no glasses. Finally I called and they said, "they're here, come in at the end of the day and pick them up." I came down, no glasses. Come back next week. I come back the next week, they first start trying to put my lenses into my frames when I arrive. After 30 minutes to an hour they explain "sorry, they cut the lenses too thin, we can't get them into the frames." We'll call you when they're ready. Couple more weeks go by. I call. "They'll be ready next Thursday. We'll text you." Thursday comes and goes, no text. Another week goes by. I call. "They're not here yet, but I put a rush order on (ha!) and they should be in any day. No text, so I call the following week. "They're here, our person is going to put them in the lenses first thing tomorrow, we'll text you." No text. I call the next day. Again, "you're first on the list, they'll be ready tomorrow." After three days of being "first on the list," I finally got my glasses, which are fine, but far from a perfect fit. On top of all this, not only were they not cheaper than my normal optometrist, they were nearly twice as expensive! Never, ever going back here.

Back when I wore glasses, I really appreciated everything that went into the eye exams, prescriptions, fittings, and follow-ups. I had LASIK during the pandemic, so now I mostly come in for my annual eye exams and cross my fingers that everything still looks perfect. I was there just about a month ago and I'm happy to report that all is well. The staff is professional and efficient. Here's hoping I won't need glasses again for a very long time... but if I ever do, I'm glad I already know where I'll be going.

The aesthetics are soft and welcoming, there's always a good playlist going in the background, and nothing about the experience feels like your typical doctor's office. I also appreciate how up to date everything is. Dr. Tabiza uses some of the latest eye care technology and equipment, and she actually walks you through what she's looking at instead of just doing the exam and sending you on your way. The staff were able to run me through the process, fees and I saw the Dr within 20 mins of arriving. The Dr was very helpful, welcoming and attentive. I completed my exam, received my referral for LASIK and was able to purchase my lenses. Frame options are a bit pricey but they were able to provide in-house discounts with current promotions. I am just leaving the store, I have a pair of Meta glasses that are one year and a half old, Ray…read moreBan Meadows are not cheap, but worth it, in my case since my glasses are no longer functional I wanted to see what could be done, it's high-tech hardware typically most companies have a plan if they stop working, they either can fix it or recommend somebody who could repair it, in the case of Ray, Ban and Matter the conclusion is that once they stopped working after a year there's nothing you can do about it. They don't recommend any repair shops nor do with their appear to be any repair shops, they don't do the repair themselves. They don't give you any credit against another pair. You're basically have a very expensive pair of what otherwise we should be fairly inexpensive glasses. I certainly can't blame anyone on the store level although I can certainly look at the Ray-Ban Meta policy and reconsider now that I have to buy another pair from somebody else who else makes something like the Ray-Ban Mata. Love to hear other people's experiences, happy to see if maybe they'll do something about it in the future and that'll gladly take this post down. I do not like to post negatives on Yelp, but I only post this today as a consumer awareness. I am currently heading over to Best Buy to see what their policies are cause there might be a way to get an extended warranty if you do not buy them at a Ray-Ban store, because Best Buy does their own thing even though they're selling the same product, I think that might be the better solution. Luckily I'm optimistic by nature so if the worst medical concern I have is needing a pair of specs a little more often I'd say I'm doing pretty well. When I got glasses at first maybe 10 years ago it was just for focusing very far away. Not "needed", but helpful while driving or watching a movie just to crisp the picture up. But over these last few years, straight downhill. Maybe it's time for contact lenses... Makes sense, but I'd need to find a doctor I trust. They are my only two eyes after all and if I'm going to have little pieces of plastic in them all day the doc better know what he's talking about, capiche? I found Dr Van online and I'm happy to report nothing short of perfect visits, I couldn't be happier. He knows what he's talking about, but equally as important he takes the time to make sure YOU know what he's talking about. He's friendly in a casual way that doctors often lack. You know what I mean, some doctors say all the right things but their minds are elsewhere and it rings hollow. Not Dr Van though, he showed me diagrams and models explaining my situation, even drawing pictures as needed for every question I had about the world of contact lenses. Good news, evidently they can't get slide up into my brain. We had some laughs while he assured me I was doing great trying to get lenses in for the first time even though I disagreed, the damn things seem to prefer to fall out *just* before making it home. Bastards. But the visit itself was purely fast, efficient, great service. So here I am, hawkeyed once more. No.. more like an owl, my night vision is on point too. It's amazing how you forget what it's like to see so clearly until it comes back. When I headed back to work with my new lenses I laughed and smiled the whole way because seeing like this was pure joy. Dr Van said reading the bottom line on the chart flawlessly is better than 20/20 which was music to my ears. A unique type of happiness I've found, all thanks to Dr Van. I think I lose a pair of glasses every year. I just left a pair somewhere at the Viejas Casino, but luckily they were only the CVS cheaters. I take my 9 year old daughter to see him and she loves going there. He explains everything to her and even let her help him administer one of the eye tests to me. He's very kind and talks to both of us about life in general, so the experience is pleasant all the way around. His office is close to my job so I don't have to worry about them not being open when I need them. I believe they are actually scheduling some Saturdays now. I read some reviews where people had to wait a long time for their glasses. I think what some people have to remember is that some of the glasses have to be sent off site depending on the insurance company. My insurance company requires that once I've picked out the frames, they be sent to their lab in New York to be assembled, etc. So, depending on how long the lab takes I could be waiting 2-4 weeks. If you are looking for an Optometrist then I would definitely recommend Dr. Van.
