Breakfast sandwich
Shanelle Y.

My family and I stumbled upon this spot in the evening and decided to try it the following morning. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and even though it was busy, we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. I ordered the morning melt (breakfast sandwich) with a side of breakfast potatoes. I wasn't keen on any of the protein options offered, but they were able to add deli turkey instead to accommodate my preferences. The food came out pretty fast and all of my family members enjoyed what we ordered. This was a great accidental find!

The food was soooooo good! I got an omelet, it was cheesy and savory and amazing! The service was easy, I love a self serve coffee place and counter order, just makes it easier! The vibe here is exactly what you would hope for in a little Black Mountain gem and this is definitely a gem!

Service and ambiance was relatively speedy. I got the G.O.A.T.S. omelet, which is made with goat cheese, red onion, arugula, roasted tomatoes and sausage, alongside herbed home fries and GF bread. The home fries were seasoned and cooked beautifully, the bread was soft with a great addition of blackberry orange jam, but the omelet was a complete powerhouse. It felt like it was designed for a goat cheese lover like me, and the other flavors worked out super well. Overall, this is where to go for brunch in Black Mountain.

This place is so good. We were driving down to Asheville to go hiking and decided to take a pit stop in Black Mountain and I am so glad we did. The food was very fresh and you can tell it's made with love! Staff is nice and the place was clean.

My first visit to Black Mountain and we had breakfast here. You are assigned a table by the hostess and then stand in line to order and the server delivers to your table. I had the garden veg avocado toast with a side of grits. My son ordered the full size biscuits and gravy. Others had omelettes with home fries. À plus for all. Impressed that they'd crisped the biscuits before pouring the gravy. We grabbed some pastries for later and I can say the cheesecake brownie was also delicious. Very friendly service even at a very busy time.

Tucked just off the Main Street is the best breakfast/brunch stop. Creative, flavorful combinations with local sourced foods, cozy seating, and great brewed coffee served with a smile. Although we strolled in 20 minutes before closing, we were welcomed inside and had a wonderful meal. Don't miss out on this hidden gem.

If you're reading this, EAT HERE. I will definitely be going back. Pictured is the southern style omelet (ham, onion, tomato, pimento cheese) home fries, homemade sourdough, and chicken and waffle. Pimento cheese makes everything 10/10. Home fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The chicken was sourced locally and the outside was perfectly crisp. Definitely will order both of these again!

Wowzers. Now this was the perfect brunch place. I got the classic brunch plate with a biscuit and holy moly it was fabulous. I got the seasonal jam which was berry flavored and the biscuit was so fuffy and delicious. The staff was so warm and welcoming. We came in as a group of 8 and everyone LOVED their meals. Plates were clean. Can't recommend this place enough!!

Food: My Bourbon Street Waffle really hit the spot on this rainy morning, piled high with succulent bananas and doused liberally with flavorful sauce. It came with a choice of proteins - the Smiling Hara tempeh "bacon" was my pick and although I'm not a huge tempeh fan, this was good, it's saltiness providing a nice contrast to the sweetness of the dish. Coffee: Some other Black Mtn. Breakfast spots have been dinged for watery, flavorless java. There's no excuse for that in this town, the home of the original Dripolator! No worries, Open Oven features Dynamite Roasting Co. brews, and my cup of Sumatra was kickin'. Service: Friendly, fast, competent. 'Nuff said. Ambience: Homey, intimate, feels like family.

Delicious. Next was the cheese board, we were warned that it was a large serving, and while it had a lot of variety, I don't think it was massive based on other cheese boards we had. We split the Korean chicken and skirt steak. Both were exceptional!! When we're back in the area, we'll definitely plan to visit multiple times during our trip. My only complaint was how tightly packed seats are in the cellar. The table directly behind us was sat a few minutes after we were and the guests were VERY loud, so it was hard to hear each other in the small space. Not a knock on P&P, just people not being able to read a room and realize they were disturbing guests around them.

The setting was lovely & felt like a great place to relax & catch up. The menu is small, but the selections are creative & surprisingly diverse...poutine, ahi tuna, Brussels sprouts, mussels, fried items, & more. If you have a dairy allergy or intolerance, however, your choices may be fairly limited. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, mussels, & ahi tuna, & honestly, all three were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the food & had a wonderful conversation throughout dinner. The table next to us was seated very close & was quite loud, despite several other empty tables surrounding us, but we didn't let that take away from our evening. Unfortunately, what happened after dinner completely changed my impression of the restaurant. We declined dessert, received our bill, paid, & tipped generously. About 15 min later, we were approached by staff & told that we needed to leave because another party wanted our table. At the time, there were still at least six empty outdoor tables around us. We politely apologized, thanked them for the wonderful meal, & left. My friend & I walked downtown Black Mountain afterward, & about 20 minutes later happened to pass the restaurant again. What I saw was disappointing: our table had not even been cleared & remained exactly as we had left it. It was still empty, along with several of the surrounding tables. Being asked to leave was not what bothered me. Restaurants need tables, & I completely understand that. What bothered me was being told that another party was waiting for our specific table when what I observed afterward did not support that explanation. If there was another reason they wanted us to leave, I would have preferred simple honesty. The food was genuinely excellent, which makes the experience especially disappointing. Hospitality is about more than what is served on the plate; it is also about how guests are treated. Unfortunately, the way our evening ended overshadowed what had otherwise been a very enjoyable meal, & for that reason I would not return.

Not like the typical artificial banana flavoring you'd find in a candy. It was sweetened just enough and topped with little vanilla wafer pieces. We were only inside for a short period of time, but this was a really cute place with comfy seating and a calm, quiet vibe. Staff were friendly and efficient. The only thing that could have made my drink better would have been more ice, but then I would have less of my delicious beverage, so I can't really complain.

We arrived at around 7:15 am and were greeted by two regulars hanging out front with their dogs, which meant that Mrs. K. got her morning dog fix before we even made it inside. That set a great tone for a good day. The welcome inside was warm in the small town way that feels genuine instead of forced, just easy smiles and a quick hello as I ordered. It was rather quiet when we arrived but the folks seemed to start pouring in as we sipped our coffees. My cortado was excellent even if it was in a paper cup. Mrs. K. was happy with her latte which is the proper test. We lingered a bit, enjoying the quiet and watching Black Mountain wake up around us before getting back on the road. A great little stop just off I-40 and a perfect start for the day. Five stars! [Review 540 of 2026 - 4635 in North Carolina - 25722 overall]

The one who suggested this restaurant told the other right upfront that it's the best for this area of North Carolina and it is not Cuban food of Miami. The restaurant was busy, and of course tables are limited because of its size, but the owners were very accommodating and we appreciate that very much There is a back parking lot with three spaces, but they are for pick up only but we were given permission to use one as we had a handicap individual with us. My Cuban sandwich was just fine and tasted just like the one I had in Miami in my opinion as a gringo and everyone finished their meal without sending anything back so I would say the food was pretty good The restaurant is a order at the counter and staff will deliver it to your table. There is one unisex bathroom for All and I'm not sure about everyone else but of course our service dog was allowed. I have been visiting Black Mountain for years but haven't tried this interesting restaurant yet…read more Today was the day for me/us and marked the day the train returned on its route through Black Mountain. We were impressed by the interest and fanfare this post-Helene event created for the locals. Parking on the street, across the street or a short way up the street is town free parking. Shannon and Rain were our friendly and helpful servers. There are many seating options. We chose the sun room which was comfortable. Others were seated outside on the side porch and several people were inside. We shared a bowl of the delicious French onion soup. Eat it while it's hot for the best experience. The buckwheat crepes were the perfect consistency to handle the savory entrees. My Market crepe was packed full of goodies including the sausage add-on. Each ingredient stood well on its own. The pesto was a standout. My partner got the mushroom crepe with chicken. She enjoyed immensely. Both entrees came with a fresh greens and balsamic dressing. The servings were generous enough to bring two halves home for dinner. Sharing soup and a savory crepe is a reasonable strategy if leaving leftovers in your vehicle during the summer heat is a concern.
