I love ordering from Amazon... I hate that I never know when Ontrac will be used instead of FedEx. Sometimes...they deliver the overnight stuff...sometimes...the 2 day stuff. I just never know...so now, I never buy anything that could break from Amazon since I run the risk of Ontrac delivering it. Why you ask?? Because...in San Jose...I had this big gate going into the backyard and a front porch. Most deliveries (UPS/FedEx) were left on the front porch with no issues. Most of the time I was home but they always leave SO FAST after knocking...I never made it on time to see the actual delivery person. Ontrac..... takes the idea to the next level and would THROW the package over the gate. I have SEEN this happen (master bedroom window faces the driveway where the gate was) .... seriously... bought a hard drive... it was dropped over the gate. Not left out front .... over ...the ...gate. I returned it to Amazon and said the reason was because it was dropped by the shipper. I did a full refund because what is the point of ordering it again if the same will happen again. Now....once... on a Saturday delivery...Ontrac (the only woman I have seen deliver in my area) left the package out front and she smiled and waved as well. So....I dunno... I wont order anything that can break because of them but I am happy to know that there was at least one rockin employee there who understood that dropping a package over the gate was NOT a good idea. read more

My only experiences with Ontrac have been a result of using Amazon Prime. While I appreciate receiving my Amazon orders very quickly - I DO NOT appreciate the lack of service from Ontrac. All deliveries I have received from them, they just leave the package on my door step - no option to hold the delivery, no note and re-delivery - they just drop it off. This is NOT cool. I mean I've heard of people following delivery trucks in order to steal packages after they are dropped off.. Today's delivery took the cake. I was at home with my front door opened so I heard the delivery truck (which was unmarked BTW if you are looking for them). I watched the delivery guy get out the truck (he did have a Ontrac shirt on) and proceed to drop off my box at my neighbors downstairs apartment!!! My complex only has 6 apartments and every door is clearly marked. Of course I know my neighbors get deliveries too, but imagine how pissed off I was when I went downstairs and looked at the box he just left on the neighbors door step was indeed MY delivery with the right apt # on it!!! I don't know if the driver could not tell the difference between a 2 and a 3, but I am not happy!! Amazon is great - but Ontrac is horrible!! If you can avoid using them - which sometimes you cannot with Amazon, try to avoid them at all costs if you can!!! read more

This is the WORST company for on time delivery and customer service! Prime packages from Amazon sit in warehouses and no attempts are made to deliver packages for days! If you want to follow up with OnTrac about problems with delivery be prepared to wait at least 20 min. on hold to talk to someone. Unfortunately, Green Chef food delivery also uses this company to deliver their boxes and last week my package made it to San Jose at 1am on the day it was to be delivered to my house. My dinners for the week sat in the warehouse all day without any attempt to deliver. The next day when I followed up with OnTrac at 9am as to why my package was not delivered they told me it would go out that day. 30 min later the online tracking stated that my package arrived in San Jose again, this time damaged, and would be destroyed. Shady. I would avoid any companies that use this delivery service or lobby to the company to change their delivery provider because OnTrac is the absolute worst. read more

I have been trying to get a response from their customer support and they have no clue, the tracking information says that the package was delivered on 22nd and signed by my front door, we never got the package and I called their customer support, they said they will send the driver to help me "locate" the package, they just came and left a stupid note in the door not even knocked or used the doorbell. Like others have noted, the local facility that delivers in the South Bay are not delivering packages. I guarantee the driver is stealing and reselling. This is the second order (Home Depot, Walmart) that has been "delivered" in two weeks that never reaches my door. One scanned at 8:30 pm, another at 9:30 pm. Neither delivered. Called amazon CS and they said ontrac scans the items before (along with other items in bulks) actually delivering at your place so give it one more day. I was driving at the freeway 680 going 101 when this driver suddenly cut me without turning his signal light on and i almost hit it. I was pissed because my baby was at the back seat. They often claim they have trouble getting into my complex, which heck, I'll give them benefit of the doubt on that; however, I had a note added onto my account explicitly saying to CALL me whenever they have trouble accessing my complex and they NEVER try to call. And good luck trying to call customer service I hopes of them contacting the driver to get the driver to come back because you will have to wait one to two hours to even get through, and by then the driver is long gone. If I could give ONTRAC a no star at all I will. This is by far the worse courier ever! I don't even know why they still exist in the courier industry. My first experienced with them was few months ago, I bought some items from nordstromrack, it took 3 weeks to 1 month before they delivered the items for a reason that "THEY CAN'T FIND MY HOME" despite of a very detailed descriptions on how they can find the address. After probably 6 customer service representatives help from nordstromrack, my packages were finally delivered. Their customer service is not a huge help at all. The second experience is JUST NOW! They delivered my package to wrong recepient (stupid e?) I called them right away - after being in queued for more than an hr! I've never had any issues with Amazon (Diapers/Soap/Beauty/Wag.com) orders until they started using Ontrac. Any next day or two-day deliveries are always late. Because I live in a gated community, Ontrac drivers will see this and keep rolling onto their next destination. At least I assume that since every time I'm supposed to receive a package it's late due to "no gate code". There are 2 call boxes located in each gate. If the drivers used it to look up the unit # / name; they could ring the unit and the owner will buzz them in. Instead, they lie in their report that it was "undelivered - need gate code". First, attempt failed due to "need gate code" - lies. Over the weekend their 2nd delivery attempt the driver cited no one was home for delivery. We were home ALL day. We have a newborn baby. We aren't going anywhere! And usually, the drivers will leave the package outside the door since no signature is required. Which leads me to believe they did NOT attempt to deliver and question if they were actually working on Saturday. Day 3 (today) attempt the driver wrote "undelivered - need gate code", AGAIN! And now my package has gone back with the driver for attempt #4 delivery next business day. This is by far the worst experience I've had with Ontrac San Jose location. I'm not sure if it's one particular driver being lazy or needs more training. Maybe someone needs to show them how to use a call box. Yes, it's tedious to look up the unit #, but that's your job as a delivery person! Whenever I see my packages is being delivered by Ontrac I cringe. Makes me wish companies gave you options on courier service. UPS and FedEx have been more reliable than Ontrac. Yes, there are always hiccups with using shipping service but not EVERY.SINGLE.PACKAGE! Also, while on hold for a customer service rep, the recording says "Ontrac on time delivery or less". More like less as in less delivery as the drivers are lazy. On a positive note: I do have to say the 2 customer service representative I've spoken with have been kind and understanding. I just wish the delivery drivers had more customer service motivation. They often leave them in plain sight at the end of the road we live on, near a gate. It's about TWO MILES from my house, yet they mark "Delivered to Front Door". The website said my package had been delivered already around 8:30 the previous morning, which is weird because I was definitely home. So i called and apparently there wasn't an apt number listed on the address, so the driver left it somewhere at the complex, but no one knows where. The day my package was set to be there was the day i had to leave for training for work. When i returned home the guy was parked down the street from my house waiting for me to return home. I don't know how long he was there but was very happy he waited for me to come home before dropping $1200 worth of stuff on my front door. My order is some boots from Timberland and at first, the package was coming from Ontario, CA, about 400mi from my place, so I thought it will take two days to deliver. But It arrived in my area the next day so I was impressed. But since then, there is no movement for 9 days. The first one was an Office Depot delivery to my place of employment and this second one from Amazon has not made it yet (3 days over due) and the tracking number said that it was waiting on ACTION REQUIRED. But i have never been contacted by either Amazon or OnTrac. Who's action are they waiting for- when I called them they said I would have to wait 24 more hours... Or longer because they don't open till Monday. I reached OnTrac only an 800 listed everywhere- no way to reach the local people- the CS rep said even if they have my accurate address they cannot deliver today (I learn from the website that the distribution center is closed on Saturdays...But they have a PICK up service that works today... how does that make sense?) I will contact Amazon again and not only add to my request to never use OnTrac for my future deliveries, but to take them off ALL Bay Area service. I live in a condo building in an urban area. OnTrac is the worst company that delivers to our building. They routinely leave packages just inside the front entrance of the building--meaning they had a code to open the door but were too lazy to take packages to the right unit. They have on occasion left packages outside the main door where it could easily be stolen. They have even been observed tossing packages from the parking area up onto the first deck without attempting to enter the building. Complaints to their office have gone unaddressed. I have twice talked to delivery folks who were surly and unpleasant. Such problems rarely occur with FedEx, UPS, Amazon and even food delivery folks. I would avoid sending anything by OnTrac and avoid merchants who use them for deliveries. read more

I called ontrac they advised that although Amazon shows the package arrived at 3:45pm. It didn't arrive at their warehouse until 8:21 pm. That was when the package was supposed to arrived at my home, not the warehouse. And if the warehouses closes at 8pm as I was advised, whose their to receive packages that late? This isnt the 1st occurrence and I'm certain it won't be the last. This isn't frustrating, it's disappointing. According to several Bay Area ontrac locations Yelp and other customer service rating tools, NONE of these ontrac locations have a score greater than 1.5 stars. Clearly, several hundred people took the time to warn Amazon of the poor quality of service. No one expects 100% all the time, things happen, but far less than 50% are receiving advertised services. Time to Step up the performance of the carriers. If Amazon wouldn't keep an employee on staff who was habitually late or absent, shame on Amazon for expecting customers to tolerate what they wouldn't. read more

I've read the reviews and ask other people have used Ontrac before. Said it wasn't very good I would partially have to agree. Their customer service was okay and I called in to request and force upon them to just drop it off at my doorstep no matter what. For others who are planning to use Ontrac because of Amazon take my advice. Call in and force them to just leave the package at your front door if you live in a home. Apartment tell them to leave it at the office, REQUEST IT at customer service. Do that and you will probably get your package on time and hopefully in good condition. 2nd Time Around: I completely forgot that amazons two day delivery was Ontrac. So I accidently clicked on 2-day shipping when I had to order something for my uncle. It was supposed to come on the 14th. But it came today the 15th. You fail at every attempt, when we BEG you to call us for help, you won't, when we try to come get our package FROM YOU it's either already on a truck (then NOT delivered) or 'temporarily misplaced' (!?!?- seriously? My 1st shipment from Amazon via Ontrac was not delivered on the day they committed to. Ontrac claimed that they couldn't find my address. All of my other Amazon orders have shipped by UPS, Fed-Ex, and USPS, and have arrived as promised. I called the Ontrac depot in Milpitas and told them to hold my package at their facility and I would pick it up, as I was concerned they would keep failing to find the address. Unfortunately they didn't do as they agreed to and the package went out for delivery the next day. They did get it to my address correctly the 2nd attempt. Also when talking by phone with the local rep at Ontrac, they were unable to give me any sort of clue as to where their depot was located other than a street address. Cross street? "Dunno". Office park? "Dunno". Major landmark? "Dunno". Completely unhelpful. I will try very hard to make sure that any future orders from Amazon do NOT get shipped to me by this carrier. I work in a 5 story office building at Santana Row in San Jose. For the second time in two weeks, someone has found a package addressed to me sitting on a chair in the first floor lobby of the building. The lobby is open to the general public and has hundreds of people through it daily. Thankfully, there are honest people that work in the building and the package was brought to my floor. Most likely just a lazy employee who didn't want to take the extra 2 minutes to ride the elevator up. In this day of rampant "porch pirates", this lack of dedication is unacceptable.
