My pedicure was so fast I feel like I blinked and she was done. Then I asked for dip on my nails. The lady that is suppose to great people when they come in removed the dip from my nails. Don't go here. I will never return to Only Nails again. I received a gel manicure from Kiki. I came on 9/22/2024 and my friend and I had appointments for 5:00pm (regular for my friend and gel for me). She was seated immediately after she picked her color and her service was done quickly and well, however, before the technician painted, she had my friend pay (to avoid ruining her wet polish at the end, a normal practice at many salons I've been to) BUT after my friend signed the receipt, the tech asked "tip??" to which my friend was confused because how are you supposed to know how much to tip when your service is not complete yet?! And how entitled of you to ask for a COMPLIMENTARY tip? And at the end of the service, her tech did not help her with her belongings to move to the dryer, leaving my friend struggling to grab her things with wet nail polish trying not to ruin her fresh manicure. As for my service, I came around 4:45 had to wait a couple minutes, which was totally fine because I was early, however, another 5:00 appointment came (dip) and was asked if she had dip on her nails, she said yes, and she was seated immediately to soak the dip off. Kind of annoying because they didn't ask if I had gel on (I did) to take off and seat me even though I got there first, but whatever. I was seated a few minutes later and the front receptionist lady started taking my gel off in a hurry. She was rushing so bad she stood up the second half and was screaming across the salon to assist customers- not pleasant nor relaxing. I was soaking for a little and then Kiki, my technician, sat to take care of me. She seemed nice at first, nothing special. She proceeded to drill the rest of my gel off. Then she used the smaller drill bit to get rid of my cuticles- this can be painful if they don't do it correctly. And of course she got too close to the skin on my thumb to the point where it felt raw, AND THEN goes in with the little cuticle cutter to my dry, hard cuticles to cut the excess off, and gets TOO CLOSE on the same spot on my thumb. It felt like it was bleeding, so I grab my thumb and slightly squeeze it and blood starts oozing out. She sees it and quietly goes "sorry" to which I replied "it's ok..." because I'm too nice. She puts that green ointment on it to make it stop bleeding throughout the entire rest of the service because it would not stop bleeding. When she went in to buff my nail beds, she was scraping every single cuticle edge raw, including my BLEEDING cuticle. She kept wiping the cut with the ointment and alcohol. I have a high pain tolerance but everything she did was so PAINFUL. She then proceeds to paint my nails 1-2 AT A TIME. At this point I wanted it all to be over, but she took so long to paint them and they came out so lumpy too. Also note, Kiki was very rough, grabbing my fingers every time they came out of the UV light. She then put lotion all over my hands and got some in the OPEN wound too, which made my whole body cringe. I then paid in cash, which used to be $39 and is now $40 btw. I came in to this appointment planning on tipping as I usually do, and halfway through I decided that this service did NOT deserve a tip whatsoever. At the end, I had paid, I said thank you, and took one step to the door, and she goes "tip???" to which I awkwardly said "oh.." and gave her $2. I should've spoke up and stood my ground but I hate confrontation and I was being too nice to speak up, but that service did NOT deserve a tip, in fact, I deserved a discount for how terrible the service was from start to finish. And for the technicians to demand and expect tips for such terrible service is rude, wrong, and awkward! I had gotten bad manicures from here before as well. This place is really a hit or miss when it comes to how well your manicure/pedicure go. I've had two experiences coming here - the first one was fine, but after my second time I'm probably not coming back. They removed my gel polish so roughly that my nails are still recovering two months later. Also for those always wondering if their nail technicians are talking about them in a foreign language - These technicians will do that. I was excited to see a new nail place pop up within walking distance of where I live. FiDi can be kind of a bust when it comes to finding good places for anything. A majority of the nail technicians here are Chinese, and they'll talk in mandarin to each other. Usually it's mundane things like they're tired, or they have a busy week. Once in a while, they'll talk shit about customers. They always assume you can't understand. I can understand. The first time I came during a weeknight to get a last minute gel manicure for a friend's wedding. The wait was really long but I thought the manicure ended up good. Lighting in the place is awful, so be prepared to choose one color and leave the place realizing it looks really different in natural sunlight. The second time I came here was a complete disaster. After having a fine experience with my gel manicure I thought I'd give this place a second go. I asked for a mani pedi, but no gel to give my nails a rest. While I was choosing a nail color, the nail technician doing my nails told me to go to the "second chair" when I was done for my pedicure. I went to the second chair from the back. When the nail technician comes up to me, she looks upset and irritated, but doesn't say anything. I look over to the second chair from the front and realize that was the one she wanted me to go to and already had it set up. I quickly apologize and ask her if she wants me to switch - She says no, but then mutters in Chinese "I'm already setting this new chair up so what's the point?" She does my pedi and seems to be seething the whole time. I shrug it off, people have bad days and I get that. When we're getting to gel removal, she used a metal cuticle pusher to scrape the gel off after soaking it. I read online afterwards that you should never do that, otherwise you'll risk damaging the nail. Post gel removal, my nail technician starts to paint with the color I chose but does the streakiest, most transparent job ever. At this point she's started speaking to her friend next to her and questioning whether I'll tip well. She's still in a foul mood and I just want to leave at this point, bad manicure and all. I ended up tipping 20% (which I thought was reasonable, but definitely not worth what she did) and then leaving with the paint still not fully dried. They ended up getting messed up earlier anyways when the fan the technician put me under wasn't on and I had to turn it on myself. I didn't want to ask her for another coat because I didn't really want to deal with her anymore. There must be a curse on this street because both nail places literally a couple of feet from one another are terrible!!! I love around the corner and ventured off my usual Affinity nails on Fulton to try this spot since it recently opened. What a mistake!!! Don't let the cute decor fool you. The work here, at least with my manicurist was probably the worst work I've ever received on a gel manicure and pedicure. I get a mani pedi every two weeks and must have had thousands done and this one ranks as the worst work of them all! I was paired with Tina who butchered my nails. Filed them down to no return. I keep returning back here because the quality of their regular manicure polish is so good but the quality of work and cleanliness is so poor that I am never coming back again. 1. I'm sure most of their reviews here are "paid for in kind". Proof in picture of signs everywhere in the salon asking for yelp reviews. New clients beware. 2. You know those hot towels they use to wrap and wipe your hands and feet? I saw a lady bring up a handful of towels from the basement, dumped them into the basin if the pedicure station, ran the hose/bum-gun on them to get it wet, and distributed them to other ladies to put into the hot towel warmer. I should've walked out then and there but I was dumb. 3. My polish was applied so unevenly and carelessly even after I tipped 25%. So so so disappointing. I'm sure this place will stay around for a while because it is one of the nicer ones in the neighborhood - isn't that sad? I'm also pretty sure they are own by the same people that owns affinia (same ikea decor aesthetic, same uniforms, cross-over workers, same signs informing customers of types of nail shape and get 5% off if you pay cash). The service has always been subpar but I come here because it's the best of the subpar and/or downright egregious nail salons in my neighborhood (FiDi). When I arrived, I told a manager that I made an appt for pedicure and gel manicure w/tip. It took nearly 15 mins after I was seated in the pedicure seat for someone to come over and give assistance. When she finally did she was extremely dismissive. She began to do my nails and I asked if she could soak my feet while she did my nails. She became upset and went to get her manager (who was just covering for Michelle for the day) and the manager screamed from the other end of the salon. I have gotten consistent SNS powder nails done here. I ADORED my last color! I like the owner and want to give this place a higher review, but I felt it was truly a 3 star situation. I came here with a friend to try this place out during the "20% off grand opening phase". The technician gave me a good powder manicure that lasted almost three weeks. (Which is practically a miracle for me.) They'll redo your nails for free if they chip within a week. I came back when my manicure finally chipped. I chose a beautiful sparkly pink. I hadn't realized how long it would take to remove the powder. After communicating I only had an hour, the owner went into HYPERDRIVE and got it done. She finished my nails in record time, and they were great! The shape was even. The polish was thicker than the previous time, but I figured that was mostly my fault. After almost three weeks, I had another chip and decided to come back. While I love the powder, I wanted to give my nails a break and enjoy changing the color more often. I decided to remove them and get a plain manicure. This time, it took a solid 30+ minutes to remove the polish. The owner was also extremely busy, and kept leaving me to work on other folks nails. While I know they want as many customers as policy, they should really consider hiring someone new or doing appointments. While waiting, so many folks were turned away, told "25 minutes". One person had to reschedule their appointment. The tech did not pay as much attention to shaping my nails this time, although she cut them shorter. It wasn't until I was under the dryer that I realized they were so uneven. In general do they look good? Yes. Do I think there needs to be more attention to detail? 100%. I am not a nail salon kinda gal. Until this year, the only times I'd ever gotten a mani/pedi in my life were when I had to as part of a wedding party, and for my own wedding (but only after my bridesmaids and bridesmen browbeat me into it). I am a tomboy, and so low maintenance, my beauty routine is essentially one-step: I bathe. (On rare occasions.) However... I think I may need to reconsider my policy on nail salons in light of the fabulous experience I just had at Only Nails. I ended up there during a weekday lunch break with a much girlier gal pal, not all that thrilled that I'd been peer pressured into spending money on superfluous beauty treatments rather than something delicious. But my grumbling quickly disappeared when I sat back in the massage chair and Cici started doing her thing. Cici was incredible. She was gentle and precise -- and very nice! She really spent time on the details, carefully clipping uneven nails, removing cuticles, digging out the dirt and detritus from under my toenails (eww, I know), and scrubbing away some of the dead skin on my heels. For an extra charge, she also gave me the very best ten-minute shoulder massage I've ever gotten. Wow, that worked wonders! I'm no subject matter expert, but Cici applied the nail polish carefully. It looks smooth and uniform, and not streaky, and I was able to walk back to work in closed toe shoes without any mishaps, after, thanks to the very nice lady at the front desk who dabbed my toenails with oil and wrapped my toes in some sort of plastic wrap. I didn't know such a marvelous process existed. The space is inviting, warmly lit, clean, and attractively decorated (love their hanging lights). It smells nice and they play soothing music. Update: I came back here several times and have received good service. But! I recently came for a powder mani and regular pedi with no toe color and had Sara. I'm leaving it at two stars bc the service is inconsistent. My pedicure was so lazy, she didn't offer a clear coat and I saw other women getting the same pedicure who were receiving better service. She didn't rub the exfoliant or lotion on my feet. When it was time to move to the main table she didn't even dry my feet off. I had to ask for something to dry them off with. For my nails the powder came out okay but her vibe was so bad. When she put the clear coat on my nails were stuck to the skin and I was looking at them. She scolded me not to touch, like girl I know not to touch wet nails. I told her what was wrong and she said she would fix it. Didn't know that meant painfully separating it with a metal tool. I do not recommend for a regular manicure at all - the technician I had filed my nails unevenly and there were bubbles (holes) on several of them because she rushed through the service. Suffice it to stay my manicure didn't even last a week. Usually the dip powder manicures are great but today the technician was so inattentive. She had no clue what a coffin shape was and after showing her several photo examples, I had to ask for almond nails instead. She was so rough with filing that at one point I had to pull back my hand because of the pain. She only filed down the finished layers of powder on my thumbs and I had to ASK for her to do it for the remaining nails since they were so thick. Her tip reflected the poor service and while she started putting plastic wrap for my pedicures (as they always do for you with closed shoes) she stopped and insisted on an increased tip and had me do it myself instead. This is a honest review. I spent $98 in that store this morning and gave $20 in tips. I had pedicure with shellac gel color. 10 mins foot massage and 10 mins back massage and SNS powder dip for my hand. I understand both Chinese and English but I spoke only English to the workers so I can have the same experience as others. The girl who provided service her name is Crystal. She did my shellac pedicure and it was great. 10 mins foot massage and it was good. Then she made a comment that my daughter looks pretty in Chinese, The owner/manager walked by, thinking that I don't understand Chinese, she replied " the daughter is pretty but the mom looks ugly" I wanted to stand up and walk away right there, but that would be not fair to Crystal who did nothing wrong. Again I act like I do not speak Chinese so I can have a real experience. The SNS dip powder service is very poor. Crystal gave me 3 coats of color and only use buffer (not machine) and she had to fix them many many times for them to look better. I do not recommend anyone doing SNS dip powder in this place. Then I asked to get 10min back massage and it was great. At the end Crystal is writing up a charge ticket. She said the SNS dip powder is $38 plus $5 for soak off and on their website it's $33! I had to showed her their own website price and she got the owner/ manager. The manager replied, oh that's the tax. So $33 plus tax is $38? What's the tax rate? She said 5% Crystal asked me to pay the manger and she left. So I asked the manager to write everything down so I can understand the price better. She did one by one and the total came out to $98 not $105. she did not apologized for the wrong calculation and was not polite at all. I gave her $120 in cash and was waiting for my change. I was planing to give Crystal $20 for tips regardless of my bad experience today. The Owner was not planing to give me any changes back, she asked" would you like me to give her the money or you want changes?" How about you give your customer the right changes back and let them tip you?! They all speaks very limited English and was communicating with each other in Chinese. They talk bad about customers in their language and talk about tips while the customers are still there. I won't come here ever again. read more

I was staying at Aloft and walked by and figured I would try them. I was greeted promptly and there was no wait on a Friday afternoon. My nails were done in Nashville so there is no gaurantee on the color match on my toes, but when I tell you she made a color out of 2 colors you would think she did my nails and hands. I am absolutely pleased with the results. I just wish the soak was longer as my feet really didn't get the scrub I needed but i will visit again bc it looks good and they were nice enough to charge my phone for me too! and it's clean on the inside. read more
