I went for a massage. I've sent people there before bc it looked nice. The problem is that I don't think anyone is a real massage therapist. Light rubs are not a massage. All during the massage, the woman kept asking me how long do I want? I requested an hour, but she kept asking. It turned out the place was closing in 45 minutes. When it was time to pay, she kept asking me "how much". I was told $130 for an hour, but it wasn't an hour, and she kept saying "how much ". I was like "the hell with this" and she put in 130 and asked me "tip how much?". She went to the tip screen. She was making me confused and annoyed I went there. I've come here a few times for a gel pedicure, and it's gone well every time. The massage included with the green tea pedicure is amazing as well. There's a large color selection for gel, which I appreciate. Everything feels clean and well run. I'm removing one star due to the tipping process. The first time I came, we weren't given a hard time for tipping on card vs cash. However, we come for work and need to use our corporate card in order to pay/tip. I understand that cash tips are better, but sometimes that's not feasible. When we went to pay, we were told that you can only tip in cash or Zelle, but we had tipped on card previously. I asked if that's just preferred or mandatory, and I didn't get a response. After going back and forth, she told us she would let us tip on card but next time have to Zelle. When reading sign on the counter, it said if you don't tip on zelle by end of day of service, your card is automatically charged 20% for tip. Therefore, you can tip on card and also don't love the fact that it's forced upon you through a charge if you don't (even though I always do, I don't like that it's forced). Overall, I get the preference for a cash tip, but it's not feasible all the time, and the way she handled it really turned me off from wanting to come back. My tech took a lot of care getting the design just right, and my gel manicure lasted a long time. This place is rated highly so we decided to give it a whirl for my birthday. We called a few hours prior day-of for pedicures and were serviced by Kathy and a new employee whose name I didn't jot down. I really appreciated that when we got there, the manager wasn't in an apron: It added a casual elegance to the space. Though the employees don't verbally upsell you when you're seated, there are four chalkboards facing you from the pedicure chairs that advertise the 4 most expensive treatments, so in effect you are, non-verbally, upsold. (The $58 Callous Pedicure and the $65 House Spa Pedicure only appear on their website.) We got asked whether we wanted square or round cut to our nails before they started with the color we chose. One thing to consider with places that aren't cheap like this one is that there will be customers like this Nordic woman seated a few chairs down from us who was REALLY, REALLY insistent about the temperature of her foot soak, which made us all feel weird. read more

I was a walk-in to Spa Blue and everything about my experience is amazing. They took me in, no problem. All of their technicians are skilled, kind, and so hard-working to give you the perfect manicure and/or pedicure and have an enjoyable time during it. I had a nail that split well below my nail bed (ouch!). My technician did a silk-wrap and did an incredible job! I was so thankful to find her! The ambiance is lovely - it's nicely decorated, clean, and old school jazz played in the background. And it was very affordable. It was a lovely experience! Okay, I have had great experiences here but my last one was horrible. Came for a pedicure, everything was great. They are almost done with it and the tech sees some skin or something on my toe and instead of grabbing a foot file or anything clean for it... she uses the NAIL FILE. This is an update on my earlier review. I was pleasantly surprised when SpaBlue reached out to me to offer an opportunity to fix the manicure that started to chip prematurely. I get my nails done every 3-4 weeks and have been to a lot of salons in many cities. Frankly most never follow up after you leave and if polish starts to chip you're kind of out of luck. Not at SpaBlue. I was invited back right away to redo my gel manicure and I'm so glad I did. My nails look amazing and I also discovered a truly unique community at the salon that is so precious in a big city. First time experiences are not always representative of what a business can do and sometimes products just don't perform as expected. I'm really glad I kept an open mind and came in second time. It totally changed how I feel about this salon. Frankly the fact that SpaBlue stands by its work like this and is willing to fix things when they don't go right is a big argument in their favor for me. I came here over two weeks ago to get SNS dip powder and tips with a fairly simple design, and my nails and still in pristine shape. I've always felt reluctant to get tips after my one awful experience with acrylics, but they really know what they're doing here. My technician spent two hours on my nails (yes, you read that right) making sure I was fully comfortable with the nail shape, length, and polish colors (and I asked her to change my nail length a couple times too...). They offer a quick complimentary shoulder massage with treatment too. My one tip: bring cash with you. My nail technician Amy was wonderful; I showed her my design and she helped me pick the color and she interpreted her own twist with it! She took her time and you could tell she really takes pride in her work! The studio itself is bright, airy and clean! They do ask for verification of vaccine which I love- it makes you feel safe and secure and the whole team is wearing masks. I had a nail chip issue, I reached out and the owner herself, and she personally reached back out to me to solve the issue- she handled it with grace. Sad to leave a low review but have to do it. The salon is cute and very clean and in a nice area so the price of $50 for a gel manicure would totally be justified if the actual manicure was nice. Here's my manicure 3 days later. The cuticle work has left my fingers all cut up and crusty. They also didn't paint close enough to the cuticle so it's already a significant grow out, and my nails grow at a snails pace. The actual application is smooth and the short nail shape is nice tho. If my cuticles weren't busted up and the paint was fully on the nail, I'd understand the price. But now my hands looks busted up and it's noticeable. read more

I went into Spa Blue many years ago on whim, desperately in need of a manicure. It was like walking into a peaceful garden.--quiet jazz music playing in the background, lovely, expert staff. Not only were my nails well handled, but I received a 15 minute massage while doing so. The masseuse untangled a decades long knot in my shoulder in that short amount of time. I was in heaven! The time for an SNS manicure had been reduced, no doubt because the of the increased experience of the staff. The massages are magnificent! I choose the deep tissue massage and it works wonders. Yes, the prices are higher than your neighborhood salon, but well worth it for the background music alone. Appointments are recommended, though walk ins are available on non busy days. Walked into Spa Blue for a regular manicure a couple weeks ago on a Friday afternoon without an appointment. It was quite busy, but one of the nail technicians was luckily available and able to take care of me right away. I chose an Essie polish, and the nail technician did what appeared to be a nice, neat job with the application and then cleaning up the edges. Unfortunately the manicure barely lasted more than 24 hours before chipping off at the edges. I have had regular manicures last longer than this--even when I do them by myself. When it came time to give my tip, I asked if I could send it over Venmo. The nail technician looked confused and visibly annoyed and had to ask another staff member whose Venmo account I should send the tip to. Not sure why the salon would advertise Zelle and Venmo for tip payments if there was going to be any confusion about this. read more
