as of 08/21 $32 for a gel manicure
Jenny Z.

UPDATE: Surprise! 4 weeks later, my nails did not chip at all! Maybe since Emma did a great job, I took special care of my nails. The gel nail polish stayed on and I would've kept them on except my nails grew longer. Stay tuned for another review or photo! Although I called earlier in the day for a gel manicure, they didn't write me down. But luckily, they managed to fit me in. I think my nail technician's name is Emma. She asked if I spoke Chinese, and we proceeded to have an actual conversation, which was surprising since conversations tend to be brief or boring during these nail sessions. Here are a few tips for you if you decide to visit. They accept both cash and card, but I am almost sure that they prefer cash. There is an ATM outside by the door. They also prefer their tips to be in cash. Also, I would call in advance to make an appointment. Emma told me they could get super busy at times. I am writing this review the night I got my nails done, so disclaimer, I might edit this later on. Stay tuned!

One nail broke after 2 days and if you look closely, my thumb is cracked right at the nail bed and will likely break too.

Sigh, all the signs were there that this wasn't a good idea but I wanted to give spa sante a chance. Sadly, they fell short in a few different areas. I needed a gel mani and my normal spot was fully booked, normally I'd just wait but I had a nail break and needed it fixed. I found spa Sante on a quick Yelp search and called to see if 1. They had an opening and 2. If they did gel extensions because I needed it on the nail that broke. The person on the phone assured me that they could do my gel mani and give me 1 gel extension on my broken nail. Fast forward to 3 days later when I arrive, it's located downstairs in basically a basement level salon. There isn't anyone there to greet me so I had to wait a few mins before someone came out. There was confusion about my appointment which was the first red flag but somehow they figured it out and I was seated. I show the nail tech my nails and say I want a regular gel mani with 1 gel extension. She says ok and gets to work. When it's time to remove my polish, she uses a gel removal polish which at one point feels like it's warping my nail and is hurting. When I tell her, she laughs it off saying it's ok while taking it off. I'm still convinced my pinky nail is damaged from that remover. What happened to just soaking with acetone? Then she pulls out acrylic tips, I reiterate that I want a gel extension, not acrylic. Oh guess what, they don't do gel extensions, only acrylic dip. How in my numerous communication with different folks did everyone say yes to gel extension but now it's different? Seemed very shady. I already had my gel half removed so I just said ok, let's hope it's ok. Spoiler alert; it wasn't. I opted for a basic French and that was still done sloppily. My almond shaped nails look oval-ish, and I realized after that she never even asked me what shape I wanted, just filed away. She cut me with the filer because of roughness and then pretends it was there already. Ma'am, you just did that. She laughs and says Oh. I had to correct her several times on filing and nail length and even a nail that she broke but tried to leave and just paint over it. At the end, I looked down disappointed and just ready to go. Uneven painting. Uneven nail shapes. And 2 days later, a nail broke completely off. Smh. Stay far away. Only good thing is that it's super cheap, which should've been my first red flag.

Emma was the best! She is so sweet. I did dip with gel on top and it looks FAB! Hidden gem in soho

This was 1 day after getting a dip manicure.

TL, DR: My dip nail manicure popped off the day after it was completed while I was out of town. When I returned and tried to find resolve, I was met with hostility from the salon and more of my manicure nails ended up popping off less than a week after they were done. I can't recommend coming here less. ... I am very saddened to write this as I was very excited to get my first dip manicure from a local business in my neighborhood. If you value your time, money and energy I do not recommend going here. At my first time at Spa Sante, I came in for a dip manicure (they call it an sns) before leaving NYC to go to my brother's wedding. I was told I would need to come back in 3 weeks to remove the manicure. The next morning, not even a full day later, the manicure on my thumb popped right off. As I was out of state for a wedding there was little I could do. When I returned to NYC a few days later I called them to explain the situation and to ask for either a refund or a redo. After calling multiple times and being told no one could help me, I got my manicurist on the phone. She told me in a very heated tone that this was not only my fault but that because I had not called on the day that the nail popped off, I could not expect any kind of refund. After going back and forth, she begrudgingly agreed to fix just the one nail. Before I even had a chance to go in to have the nail fixed, 2 others popped off as well. This is not even a week after having them originally done. Mistakes and accidents happen. The way I was spoken to when I was explaining the problem was not only unprofessional but also mean. I do not recommend coming to this business.

Nails by Lila.
Vertell D.

Lila is the absolute best. My gel mani & pedi always come out perfectly. My toes last for 5 weeks and my hands last for 3 weeks without chipping. My cuticles are always trimmed up nicely. They use high quality polishes with plenty of options. I'm a very picky client. When I come to Lila I never worry or get anxiety about my nails not coming out the way I want. I would recommend this place over and over again. BOOK WITH LILA. In these crazy times with the pandemic, I'm sure we are all a little skeptical about the places we go. You will feel safe walking into Spa Sauté. When you walk in, your hands & the bottom of your shoes are sanitized. Stations are neat & clean. There is also dividers between you and your nail tech. Everyone also wears a mask.

This salon made me feel so comfortable. Mandie exceeded my expectations with my dip set. I am definitely coming back, and I think I found my new favorite salon on the East Side. Every employee is friendly, laughing, and helpful. Can't wait for my next fill!

Great service! I've never had so much attention given for a gel manicure. Don't be turned off by the basement setting. Their work is great! Nice staff who give great customer service

This review is long overdue but I've got tons of photos to show how amazing of a job SANDRA does! Seriously, she is a miracle worker and SO TALENTED. I get new tips once a month, and a fresh gel mani every 2 weeks. Sandra transforms my weak, brittle nails into cool girl nails (see photos!) Her attention to detail is incredible and she can draw designs as well. I love Sandra and have sent multiple people to her. If you're reading this, you need to get a mani from Sandra.

gel manicure chipped after 2 days
Saloni M.

I was shopping with a friend in the area and we called to make a day of appt and they surprisingly accommodated us on a Friday afternoon. I have been getting my nails done for years and visited many places. Let me start by saying I support small businesses and especially when it comes to food I know everyone has different tastes. Typically if I really love something I share otherwise I don't post. In this case, I am genuinely concerned about the lack of cleanliness and poor quality in this place. I would not visit here again. The place is very affordable but let me warn you. 1. Two employees were not friendly and spoke about my friend and me several times in spanish without hesitation including after she cut my finger and after I asked for a fourth coat of polish because the shade on my nails was so light. We are Spanish speakers and this was hurtful. 2. My manicurist tore up my cuticles and one finger bled so badly we had to spray something to stop it from bleeding. No apology or acknowledgment by anyone this happened. 3. The manicurist did not wash hands or sanitize between guests. tools and chairs are not properly sanitized between guests. Patrons were not required to wear masks. 4. My friend got a gel manicure and they took 2.5 hours to complete because the person kept stopping to and working on other people or walking away with no explanation. There was no acknowledgement by staff for this. 5. Other patrons received hand or shoulder massage with their manicure but I did not. 6. My friend's gel manicure chipped on three nails after 2 days. 7. The lotion they use is of poor quality and has parabens in it. When there are so many other salons I can't see a reason to come back. We did see regulars come in to make appts and they were all specific about only wanting an appt with one person. Maybe that manicurist is better.

Wendy C.

I don't even know where to start with my experience here. We booked an appointment for four mani pedis on a Friday. It was our fault that we had to reschedule to a later time which might have confused the staff. As soon as we went in, one of the employees kept screaming "OMG! OMG! so many people ". The same lady, did my friend's pedicure and it was bad. She did such a bad job painting them and shaping them that someone else had to fix it. The staff was not that nice but Mandy came and saved the day. She was very sweet and took on the task of fixing the pedicure for my friend had gotten. I got a French tip for mani (gel) and a regular pedicure. They didn't tell us the pricing ahead of time but it's $45 for regular mani pedi. Mine came out to like $64 which I was shocked since I only got gel for manicure. I would probably will never return here but if you do come here, make sure that you ask for Mandy to make your experience better. Also, as I am not from New York, I was a little taken back that we had to take steep steps into the basement to arrive. It was well decorated but it's small so make sure that you make appointments.

She set me up with some calming tea and brought me to a private changing area with a locker for my belongings. Everyone in the vicinity checked in to make sure I was doing ok. I was worried that because I had arrived late, I would eat up some of my massage time. No siree! They moved my massage to start when I was ready to begin. I booked the 90 minute Nuansa classic massage. You know how some places start the clock before you've sat down and finish the massage early (aka you pay for an hour and it's only about 45 minutes)? Well! That's not the case here! I got all 90 minutes of my massage. The massage itself: not to be believed. Lukkana started by saying "time to relax". And boy did I. Let me tell you one thing about me - I have the most ticklish legs of anyone I've ever met. Usually, when I have my legs massaged, I kick a hole in the wall and the masseuse files for a lawsuit (this is an exaggeration). Well! Somehow, Lukkana was able to work the muscles in my leg without triggering my dainty ticklish reflexes. I was astonished! Then, you know how sometimes you ask for a firm touch and you get jelly hands? Or the other way around and you're walking out with bruises? WELL - Lukkana made me feel immensely relaxed WHILE ALSO really working the tissue. What a novelty. She finished up with a scalp massage, which is truly the way to my heart. 11 out of 10. Would recommend. Thank you so much for making my day.

After we put our things away we put our robes on and headed to check out the place. Everything is pretty spread out and nothing was really crowded. We enjoyed the pools especially more than the saunas and felt pretty relaxed. We didn't get food here but i did buy an orange juice which was $6 and good. The infinity pool here is beautiful and the view is amazing. The pools in the locker room are really nice and clean and so are the showers. I took a nice shower before we headed out. All the pool areas were crowded at 10am, so we couldn't even get in. The saunas were unusable because so many people were looking for a place to go that the doors kept opening every 15 seconds, preventing them from heating up properly. The quiet area with chairs was so crowded that people were using them like lounge chairs on a cruise ship, with one person holding a chair for six people's belongings. It just felt like a complete waste of money to pay for spa access. They are not trying to create a luxury spa experience, just 100% a cash grab. I booked a couples massage for my wife and me, and considering the $500+ price, I expected a luxury experience. We showed up 15 min early, as typically spas at this price point will offer tea, a relaxing environment, and go over where you'd like to focus your treatment before you begin. When we arrived, they told us to come back in 10 minutes, because we were too early. Then, when we arrived 5 minutes before our service, they still said they weren't ready for us to come back; it was a terrible start. I've had over a hundred massages over the past 10+ years, and at the 200$+ price point, this one was in the bottom 5 I've experienced. Just mediocre at best. To top it off, at the end, the masseuse hard-sold the oils/lotions they use, which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I get a better massage at Bergen Spa in Brooklyn for $55, and given there was no high-end experience here, it's the same. I wouldn't come back even if they charged half of what they do. Horrible all around.

Fifteen minutes into our 90-minute couples deep tissue massage, I saw my husband's therapist, Lydia, typing on a lit smartphone while leaning over him. When she realized I saw her, she hid the phone under the sheets. There is no version of this that is acceptable. Texting during a paid massage is blatant misconduct. It didn't stop there. My husband repeatedly asked her to focus on his neck and shoulders and avoid his feet. His requests were ignored. The technique was lazy and mechanical - repetitive forearm circling with little to no pressure, despite requesting deep tissue. He left feeling like he didn't receive a massage at all. When we raised the issue, the owner acknowledged the behavior was "unacceptable" yet offered only a 25% discount - as if actively texting during a massage, ignoring repeated client requests, and delivering a substandard service were minor inconveniences. This wasn't just a bad massage. It was a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. We will not be returning.

The facial started out promising but it ultimately ended up feeling like I was just having cleanser and one mask put on over and over. The, "extractions," was very light pressure - she even kept apologizing for how much pain I must've been in, which I thought was weird because I was barely feeling anything at all. And I was expecting some pain because I had some issues I was really hoping to get taken care of. However, at the end of the facial when I finally saw my skin, none of those issues were addressed, and you could tell there had been no actual extractions where we discussed, my main problem areas. There were big black heads and white heads that were untouched... really? This cost me $250 just to be disappointed. My skin doesn't look better in any sense. I have no glow, nothing is cleared up, and I still have all of the problems I had going into this. I hate that I was left feeling like this, because I like this spa and my woman was very kind, but at the end of the day I got up charged for the most basic, non deep cleansing facial I've ever had. New York spa is immaculately clean and the amenities are off the charts. I have gone back again and again and will continue to go. Great place.

It was cool. I wasn't sure what to expect z I came because I wanted a Korean spa experience…read moreespecially a body scrub. The front door explain the entrance fee but when I asked questions about the other services the woman was a little abrupt and rude. I mean whatever I asked she mentioned the fee. I told her I know and I guess she wanted that fee before I realize the massage is really bodywork. I told her it is my first time here. I wanted to leave but stayed because i traveled so far and I wasn't in the mood to find somewhere else. It was my birthday. Anyhow I pay get my uniform go to lockers. I noticed the sign and picture of two thieves and others about lost towel and key fees. Anyway the locker room plays Korean drama and attendants are the ones who sell the other services. I lounged around in the coed area and then tried every steam and sauna for 20 minutes. I walked around in my socks. It was pretty quiet and peaceful . It wasn't full of people either. I go to the front desk to ask if there are slides or slippers. My feet got really hot in the sauna I was wearing socks . One must either be in socks or barefoot. I asked him about the additional services and he said the women in the locker rooms do those. The woman in the locker room are the "masseuse " or "esthetician" in a sense. Before entering the wet room (one removes their spa uniform showers ) before using the jacuzzi steam room and cold plunge. Ok so I decided to get the Korean body scrub and massage. The body scrub was better than the massage. I braced myself each time I was rinsed with water. A basin of water gets thrown on you. The massage included a facial and I appreciate her massaging my stomach where I tend to get fibroids. The facial left my skin glowing . Overall i probably won't go back but i feel encouraged to check out higher end spas and treat myself more. I think these spas are good for sauna unless your gym has one. It was an ok value. You get what you pay for. The skin care is cucumber based.
