Love this nail salon and Leah is the best nail tech I've had ever! Best in the city I have been going here for 4 years and Leah always does such an amazing job! Me and my friends have been going to Nail SPY for at least the last 5 years, since we began working and living nearby. This is by far the BEST nail salon in the area. Consistent high quality, efficient services, kind and caring staff, and it is always sparkling clean. The space is large with high ceilings and has a great layout, and they have a large team, so even when it is very busy and I don't have an appointment I have never had to wait more than 10 mins. I recommend this spot to everyone looking for a great, dependable, and reasonably priced place to get an excellent manicure or pedicure. read more

I came recently to get a gel manicure and suspect that they removed the old polish incorrectly (maybe it needed to be soaked off instead of drilled off?) since a few days after the manicure each nail started breaking and then half of my nails were broken and painful. I called them and they were rather dismissive, saying that there was nothing to fix. But I was passing by anyway so thought I'd try asking and showing them in person. They asked if I had my stamp card (which shows who my nail tech had been) which I did. They asked me to wait a couple minutes and then told me that they would do extensions for free on the broken nails. They took their time to explain that I should take a break from gel next time and do regular polish and were quite nice. They weren't expecting any tip but I tipped a small amount. Given that they were willing to redo my nails for me I'm revising the review. read more

This place is my new go to nail salon in FiDi. They are always clean and it's very spacious (two floors) so they have room for a lot of appointments. My gel manis always last for 2+ weeks and are $42. They always have promos for combo treatments too (gel mani + regular pedi). I've come here three times and had different people every time but they were all really good! read more

I have been going to this nail salon for 4+ years, never getting anything done anywhere else. Even though I have been supporting this business for years, they have never treated me with any extra kindness. My loyalty goes completely unnoticed. My experience today is what prompted me to write this: when asking to change the color after it being repeatedly too pale for my skin tone, I was met by eye rolling and whispering about me, I can't even count how many times this has happened and left me feeling insecure in this establishment. The cherry on top was when I went to pay, I wanted to use my loyalty cards that I have never used and had been sitting in my drawer for 4 years, I had like 20+ cards. The manager told me it was ONLY 15 dollars off. I was like excuse me? The cards say free manicure. The manager says that because I got Gel-X it was only 15 dollars off, which brought my total to 105+tip. I am absolutely distraught that 4+ years of loyalty and spending 100+ dollars every month and tipping well every time only gets me 15 dollars off?!?!?! I'm sorry but that is an absolute disgrace. I think it might be time for me to find a new nail salon. read more

I booked my appointment via ClassPass this morning. They had a lot of availability. Although I originally booked powder nail, I switched to gel X and they just charged me for the difference. My nail tech was Mina. She was very efficient, and did a great job of shaping my nails. She also patiently took note of each color I was considering, and let me see what each color looked like on the nail. Sometimes nail techs can be impatient if you don't know exactly what you want right away, and a I appreciated Mina's calm and patient demeanor. Would love to come back next time! read more

Surprisingly good. I've been looking for a new salon for mani and pedi, and I'm impressed by their quality and attention to detail, though I do have a reservation about their acetone application. I typically don't like my cuticles touched, pushed, or cut, and they respected that. Not only did they respect it, but they also applied the gel coating with precision, ensuring it doesn't cause lift-off over time... 2 weeks in and my nails still look fresh. Even when removing the gel, they don't over-shave, which helps maintain the health of the nails for repeated gel manicures. However, I wasn't a fan of how they applied the acetone... it was recklessly applied to the sides and onto the skin, with foil wraps covering them. Acetone should be strictly for the nails, and this felt very careless. Despite that, the overall experience was solid. They offer reward cards, though I can't remember the exact number of visits required to earn a free session. They accept credit cards and cash. I think they have customers pay for the credit card fee because it's slightly more if paid by credit card. They don't accept Venmo or Zelle. And they don't offer drinks and/or treats. read more

Got a Gel X mani here. Came back 3 weeks later to get it removed. They charged me 25 dollars to just remove them ( fine) but I have never had a manicure ruin my nails so much. I don't know if it was the application of the gel X or how they removed them but my nails are paper thin and cracked. I can't even use my hands for basic tasks right now. read more

It's always super clean, peaceful, and they treat you so well. will never go anywhere else!! read more

Went to get a refill on my gel-x nails. Explained 3 times what I wanted and she cut my nails so short to force me to get a new set. This is my first time getting extensions so I don't really know anything about it, but I showed a picture of ombré nails and asked for gel x. They said it's not possible to do it with gel x and I needed to do dip (which is an extra $30 or $35). Not knowing any better, I said sure. I found out later on from other friends that it is possible to do it with gel. My nails also started cracking a few days later and eventually one broke. Very disappointing. read more

Nail Spy is my go-to nail salon. the salon is spacious, clean, and relaxing. my favorite nail technicians are Leah, Eva, and Fanny. they are not only super sweet but they do consistently great work. whether it's gel, powder, or gelX my nails last for weeks. I am annoyingly indecisive about colors and they never make me feel rushed and always let me test something out. although Nail Spy is newer, it's become very popular so definitely make an appointment in advance so you don't have to wait. the customer service is excellent, especially Yoyo, and they work with you to make sure you are taken care of as a client. read more

Came here for the first time. Asked for a color recommendation, definitely not a color I would go for but I love it. It's a light pink-ish, coral, nude color. Oddly enough it shows up almost beige on camera. Jenee (if I remember correctly), was the one who did my nails and I absolutely love her. She's quite detail-oriented which I absolutely love. Would definitely go back again when I'm feeling like going for simpler colors and designs. read more

I came here because it was much cheaper than numerous other nail places I looked into in Manhattan. Called in on the day of for an appointment and was able to get one for me and my friend. As soon as we went inside, we were surprised at just how nice and spaceous inside; they even have clear barriers(?) between the nail tech and client from COVID protocol, which makes the experience feel extra saniatry. Wait was standard and short, and they had a good selection of colors AND STICKERS for us to choose from. After learning how expensive other 4-star nail salons are, I was pretty happy with my results here especially compared to the price. With the 5% discount when paying in cash, I paid a total of $91 + tip (they expect at least 18%) for gel extensions + stickers ($8 for 2, $13 for 3), and my friend paid $55 + tip for a gel mani + 2 stickers. Would definitely come again c: read more

I have been coming to this salon since June and I have not been disappointed with a service yet. All of the technicians (I've had 4 of them) are skilled, quick, and friendly. The exterior is very cute and the interior is clean and modern. The spa and manicure chairs are comfortable and clean. They have almost every color you can think of in gel and powder. I have tried their gel-x extensions, powder dip, and clear powder dip with gel on top. Each time, my manicure has lasted at least 4 weeks without chipping or breaking and I'm pretty hard on my nails. There has only been one time where my powder chipped a day after getting them filled and they had me come back in to fix them. If you pay using cash, you'll get a discount. They have an ATM that charges a $1 fee if you need it. I constantly get compliments on my nails after getting them done here. I live considerably far from this place, but I love it so much that I always come back. Highly recommend coming here. read more

Amazing service here, great communication, both my nail tech (Leah) and the shop owner were very attentive, even offering me her phone charger when she saw my battery level. If you're a perfectionist then you may have to ask them to redo some things a few times but they were patient and very friendly when they had to redo something, my set only took 1 hour as she didn't have to stop and redo much for me. Best prices in manhattan as well. Also if you ask for something they haven't done before they will let you get a trial nail to see if they can do it to your liking and if not then they are honest and will ask you for a backup option. Very good customer service music and lighting was also relaxing. read more

I've had a few gel x manicures at Nail Spy this year and had great experiences with Susen with sets lasting 3+ weeks. However, my last appointment was with Anna and I was extremely disappointed. The service felt very rushed (about 30 min total), I noticed that she wasn't as meticulous as Susen when applying the nail under the UV light and did minimal cuticle care. Although I did appreciate the time she spent filing the shape and applying the French tip design. I didn't notice during application (possibly due to the angle of my hands through the protective glass) but she placed the extensions so far from my cuticle they looked over a week grown out! I didn't take a photo the day of, but the photo here with the orange French is only 8 days after my appointment. There was also noticeable lifting from my nail, and I ultimately had to pay for a new set within a week and a half of my appt with Anna. For comparison, the photo of the blue set was taken 2 weeks after application and is nowhere near as grown out. I will consider returning but only if I can book with Susen, unfortunately she is typically off on the days I'm available, so I may need to find a new salon. read more

Extremely overly priced. They only use powder and not acrylic so a regular gel manicure takes much longer. You can tell they price gouge because they'll talk to each other in another language before someone comes to tell you "it'll be $10 more for this" despite telling you another price initially. It is quality service and the massages are nice. I was visiting and came here because they have good reviews. But I didn't expect to pay so much or be there for nearly 3 hours. I will avoid coming here again because if it cost me $137 (that was with the 20% discount since I used cash) for a gel mani pedi, I'm sure the prices will only increase a year from now. UPDATE Update to change from 3 starts to 1 star. I got this overly priced mani pedi on Tuesday and today is Friday. The polish on this nail was already chipping by Wednesday because with powder manicures, if you don't make sure the polish covers the entire nail it will start to chip away. No need to charge someone $140 for a gel manicure if this happens days later. I'm worried my natural nail will break now because it so exposed. Complete waste of money. Please get it together read more

I'm sad to write this because everyone was nice and friendly but I guess they don't know how to keep themselves clean. I got my nails done end of April and from then until now my toe nail polish has stayed on strong. Come to find out yesterday, I thought I had a sock fuzz stuck to my toe, I keep picking at my toe nail polish. MY TOE NAIL IS BLACK. I have never had this happen to me in my life!!! It could've been black for 3 weeks now and I never noticed!! The girl who did my nails convinced me to get the spa treatment, maybe I should've just said no. I will not be coming back here again. A refund would be nice. Now I have to go find a dermatologist or a podiatrist. I'm so upset. I might lose a toe nail and summer literally just started. read more

I brought my girlfriend here a while back and have been meaning to write a review. This place is so beautiful, clean, affordable, and friendly. We got gel manicures with sticker decals. They had a first timer discount when we went and gave little gift bags after we paid. Not sure if they're still doing that as it's been a couple of months. The staff was very friendly, gave us recs on designs, and got excited about our nails with us. Only specific staff members can do intricate designs so if that's what you're looking for, definitely call ahead of time. I think the sticker decals might be the way to go tho because they're really affordable - like a couple bucks per finger you want a sticker on - and they look CUTE. Very disappointed today when being totally scammed - I have been a long term customer and was charged $97 for a gel mani and gel pedi. When I questioned her on the price she said it was because it was an extra $7.50 to remove dip powder from my hands even though it is EXACTLY the same process as removing gel which is free of charge They make up the prices and I couldn't be bothered arguing any longer about it, I will just not be returning read more

It was nice and clean, the receptionist was very friendly and kind. I received service from Anna who i guess was overall professional. The issue was that I came in with a photo of what I wanted and based on the pictures they posted on their yelp it seemed very doable. That is the reason I selected this salon. I showed her the photo, she said yes and then helped me match the colors a nude for three finger a blue hunter green for the other two. Then I used the same green for my toes. Everything was going good until I noticed she seemed to be wrapping up but had not done the design. I mentioned this then she says no I can't do that. So now I just have mix matched nails that make no sense. I went up to pay and I asked if they no longer did designs and she said we do but not if it's too complicated. I had some leaves. Much simpler than the full art displayed by them. She then said they could do stickers. I said I would have a look since the tech never mentioned that. There were some similar stickers but the green color did not match. Had I known it had to be a sticker I would be flexible and would have chosen a matching green. It also was 3$ per sticker. So I decided not to get it. Overall I was dissatisfied with my service. $115 plus basically mandatory 18% tip that she stood there to make sure I gave to her felt unfair. I have to now go find another salon to do the design so my nails don't look perpetually confused. read more

I made an appt for a reason but decided to just go with the other person. She didn't do the best job, the pedicure felt rushed and my gel polish was very uneven. I wanted to like this place so badly. I don't. I have been growing my nails out for months in preparation for my wedding next month. The last time I was here, I think the nail technician made my powder dip nails too thin so they all cracked. Sadly one of my nails broke clean off (really short). I came back within the week to get my nails fixed-- and they wanted to charge me full price of over $80! That is unbelievable. After some back and forth, I ended up paying 50% of the service for them to repair my nails that they damaged (??) and on top of that-- the day after the repair service, my nails cracked AGAIN. I am very very disappointed in my final experience at this salon. I understand that mistakes happen, but I believe good customer service can make anything better. I just did not receive that here. Bad quality nails and bad customer service. 2 stars because the nail techs are really nice. read more
