First of all, it was so happy to see that they had some same day appointment availability! Why that may not always be the case, some booking systems will still only show starting next day. I also loved that their menu had a lot of options, including more than one type of Brazilian to book. When I showed up to my appointment, I checked in and filled out some basic, new client information. I was then taken to my room with my waxer promptly after. They use hard wax here which many people prefer, but for me hurts the most. But I don't really care what is used as long as they're hygienic, quick, effective and will not spawn in-grown hairs. My waxer was quick, thorough and one week out...things are still looking good! As a bonus, first time clients got a significant discount which made me even happier about my experience. While my experience before check out was already excellent, that was just icing on the cake. Overall, I left very impressed and will definitely return again in the future!

My little sister ran to her appointment…read moreand arrived flushed and a little sweaty, and the technician -- I believe her name was B -- proceeded to wax half the area before suddenly stopping and telling her that she was "too sweaty" to continue and that she would need to wait 40 MINS + an additional hour if the next client showed up. For context, my sister has been getting waxed regularly for over eight years. She is athletic, healthy, and this has never happened to her before. She was not dripping in sweat or experiencing anything extreme -- she had simply rushed to make the appointment and was flushed. None of that should even matter in terms of how respectfully a client is treated, but it made the reaction feel even more disproportionate. The technician told her she would need to wait 40 minutes or longer before they could continue, in part because another client was coming in. That is where this started to feel less like a legitimate waxing concern and more like a scheduling issue that my sister was being blamed for. I could completely understand saying, "Let's give you a few minutes to cool down so the wax adheres better." But stopping halfway through a service and telling someone to wait 40+ minutes is a very different situation. I have also been getting waxed for around 10 years, including throughout hot and humid New York summers, and I have never experienced or even heard of someone being treated this way simply for being a little sweaty. Beyond the explanation making very little sense, telling a client she is "too sweaty" in that manner is incredibly rude and inappropriate. There are professional, discreet ways to address moisture without making someone feel embarrassed or ashamed of their body. The fact that half the service had already been completed before this suddenly became an issue also made me seriously question the technician's judgment and experience. If it was genuinely unsafe to wax her, why was the service started in the first place? This is also a waxing salon with fans and powder available to help keep the skin dry. What made the situation even worse was what happened afterward. My sister called me on FaceTime while she was there and was literally in tears trying to advocate for herself and explain that the situation had made her uncomfortable. When my other younger sister later called the salon for more information, the woman at the front desk described my sister as "aggressive" and said she had made the staff uncomfortable. Well let me tell you, I'm the oldest sister and our youngest sister doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body. It made me so sad to see her shakily defending herself. She was upset, embarrassed, and trying to stand up for herself while crying -- not behaving aggressively. All the receptionist had to do was apologize! Getting defensive with emotional clients is never the answer. If you are the owner please review the call as they are all recorded. My sister also told me that after the waxing specialist left the room, she overheard waxers giggling nearby. I cannot say whether they were laughing about her, and I won't pretend to know that. But in that moment, after she had already been made to feel embarrassed and vulnerable, hearing staff giggling only made her feel even more humiliated. Timing, discretion, and basic emotional awareness matter enormously in intimate services like waxing. At the end of the day, this felt like an inexperienced waxer and a scheduling problem being turned into my sister's fault, while her feelings were completely dismissed. A client should never leave a waxing appointment feeling ashamed of a normal bodily response, humiliated, and then be labeled "aggressive" simply for saying she felt uncomfortable. Stopping a service halfway through, giving a questionable explanation, making the client feel embarrassed, and then dismissing her reaction afterward is unacceptable. I would not recommend this location based on how this was handled. SHAME ON YOU ALL YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. MEANGIRL ACTIVITIES AT THIS LOCATION!!!! also not this is not the first time ive heard of other issues at this location. DO NOT LET THE FOUR STARS FOOL YOU. TERRIBLE STAFF HERE.

I read Angelica S's review and am astonished at her reporting of events. I was the other person mentioned. First of all, I am not a friend. I am a client since the year the business was established. I was in the chair and left the salon after the completion of services, so Angelica would have known that I was a customer because she had been waiting on the seat behind me. When I returned, I sat on the side chair and the staff asked if Angelica would mind waiting. I heard Angelica say that this was no problem. At no time during this exchange did the staff eat cake. The owner could have known that because the salon has a camera. It's sad that customers distort facts to suit their perspective. This place is now called Maya. Different owner but same ladies working. Plus I love the new decorations . I've been going to this place for quite a while since I moved to New York. I love this place. They do a great job on eyebrows and are quick and I wasn't even red. I have had waxing done too. Was less painfull than other places I've tried. I had bikini waxing done and I didn't get any ingrown hair afterwards which was my concern. It's cheap , clean and the ladies are nice. I highly recommend this place. read more

I was clear in my instructions and the second one even confirmed that she could see the borders from the last time. They were both very nice and apologetic, but realistically, they can't do anything to fix it and I just have to wait for it to grow back. It's frustrating to pay for a monthly wax package and only feel comfortable with one person. Maybe other locations are better, but I'm hesitant to try anyone else because I've only been disappointed.

The first time was horrible, the lady insisted on a lift even thought I said I need a curl. The result was of course very disappointing. She promised to fix it next time. I had paid for the groupon already so I went back. After plenty of negotiation she agreed on the curl and it came out good. She told me what was the type of the cast she used to remember it for next time. Two months later I went back and I told her what cast we had used that worked but she insisted we should use a new better one. I disagreed but she really kept on pushing me and I stupidly trusted her. The result was worse than the first time. Completely flat. Only later did I realize she had lost the cast I was asking for so she came up with the idea of talking me into a "better" one so she does not lose the money. Also, I could feel the tools in the in eyes' waterline. I could feel the glue running in my eye. It's a terrible feeling. When I complained she said "I know what I'm doing". No you don't. P.S. I'm changing my review to two stars because they apologized and gave me a refund. But I still have no intention to return and regret going.
