For a service that I'm paying for. It was not cool. Will not be back. I knew I was going to be in the area and heard great things about Thread... so I decided to try them out! $12 for an eyebrow thread is a better price than I've previously paid, so I was excited to see the results! Their website is very easy to navigate and book an appointment through. I was greeted by a very kind esthetician and receptionist. The vibe of Thread is lovely! It's a nice space that kinda reminds me a bit of a modernized salon-like barber shop. Once it was my turn, I sat down and she got right to work, confirming I wanted a clean. She didn't ask many questions after, but hey, I'm not picky with my brows, I just want them to look nice and even, and she definitely delivered! The service was fantastic throughout! Also, at the end, she put some soothing aloe and gave me a temple massage -- it was so lovely :). They have a loyalty punch card so you can get a free wax after coming 7+ times I believe. I've been a loyal customer for 5 years and service has not been consistent. Today at 4:05pm appointment, the technician threaded too much caused a bald spot. When I sat down, I was asked if all I wanted was a clean. Yes. Just a clean. I left with my eyebrows having been shaped and very much uneven especially at the top. In the past, this place has done a satisfactory job. However when I went today, all I wanted was for my eyebrows to be cleaned. Instead it seems a complete newbie with no proper training did my brows since they were reshaped and left completely uneven. Very disappointed. Quality threading salon! I've gotten my eyebrows, upper lip and forehead threaded here. Super happy with the quality of service and cost here. Eyebrow threading is $12 which is very affordable in 2023 for a quality salon in Manhattan. Thread follows best practices when it comes to cleanliness and hygiene. All the estheticians I've had appointments with (3 so far - Neelam, Uma and Panna) have been professional and quick with their services. Walk ins are accepted but I highly recommend you take an appointment if you don't want to wait too long since they get busy during weekdays in the evening and sometimes on Saturday morning. Their website makes appointment booking very easy and you can specify a preferred esthetician if you wish. And you can change and reschedule an hour before your appointment too. If you can't reschedule, you can always call them and they're willing to help. read more

I just visited today for the first time during COVID and still got the same amazing service with extra precautions. They've been open since July and are appointment only (can make them online). They make everyone sanitize their hands before entering and everyone wears a mask, including during your service. While patiently waiting to get my eyebrows done , Sadia approached me, cautioning about how I spoke. I was taken aback by her aggressive demeanor. I said nothing wrong, only discussed the services I needed. She was in my face, making false accusations. It was quite bizarre behavior and highly unprofessional. The situation escalated into a distressing argument, and left me in tears. I even considered filing a police report. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to the decision of not returning to the salon. It's disheartening to be treated this way after years of being a loyal and trouble-free customer. I empathize with the staff who hugged and comforted me, apologizing for Sonia's treatment. I will miss them, but as an owner and manager, prioritizing dignity and care for customers should be essential. I'm from LI where threading places are a dime a dozen and range from $6-8. I'm extremely loyal to my go-to salons on the island and I was stressing about finding a new threading salon in the city that was still $10 or under - to the point where I was thinking about planning my trips back home to LI around my eyebrow growth. I am so lucky to have stumbled upon Thread. I randomly walked by, looked up the reviews on Yelp, turned around and went inside where I was greeted by Jeet. I love how clean and open this place is vs "the no-frills but gets the job done" places I'm used to on LI. No messy counters with lots of thread, aloe and tissue boxes. Everything is put away and hidden from view and I really liked that. One of my eyebrows is naturally thicker and rounder than the other. Would I love to have beautiful Lily Collins thick and symmetrical ones? Yes, but it's not gonna happen. So many times I've gone to salons where I've told the employee just clean it up and do NOT try even them out. My eyebrows are the definition of "eyebrows are cousins, not twins" meme. Despite my best efforts, my message is somehow is not conveyed to the employees and they go crazy trying to even out my eyebrows and that's why I hate going to new salons. This was not the case at all with Jeet at Thread. She listened to me and she really took the time to clean my eyebrows, maybe even more so than my usual ladies. My stray hairs go all the way down my eyelid (attractive!) and she had me hold my skin taut for a long time so she could really remove the strays. I appreciate it and the fact that she didn't try to upsell me on other services. Based on the other reviews, I paid and tipped in cash (I do that regardless though), and I got a loyalty card as well. This is my go-to place to get my eyebrows threaded. Panna has a magical touch. I've never been to someone who is so gentle with my eyebrows and still makes them look amazing. I loved the Astor Place location with all my heart and was so sad to hear about it shutting down. I was so excited to learn that Panna would be staying at the FiDi location. Thread has also increased its prices more recently but just for the experience, I will shell out $12 plus a tip to go to Thread. I don't know anything about good brows so she was in charge and I am very happy with the outcome and her service. I got my eyebrows threaded here twice before. About two weeks ago I decided to get my eyebrows threaded and my underarms waxed plus my upper lip, I paid $31. My underarm from my right side was extremely red when I left the threading salon and I thought it was just a bit irritated from the waxing, a few days later it was still red and now I realized that she burned me so now I have a really dark mark which I'm not sure if it will go away. They also double dip which is very unsanitary. I have gotten my underarms waxed many times before and this has never happened, now my underarms look very dark which I hate. read more

I came here on my lunch hour with an eyebrow wax in mind. I rarely do my eyebrows, and when I would do them, I would thread them. However I've seen other peoples eyebrows that are waxed and they just seem sharper and neater than when people have their eyebrows threaded. The only reason why am taking away one star is because the woman "convinced" me to thread when I asked for a wax. The results were very good and I am very satisfied with my eyebrows; however, it kind of turns me off when a place tells me what I should get when I come in mind knowing what I want. The customer service was very good the place was clean it wasn't very full at all, but it was the middle of the day. It was $10 for an eyebrow thread which is standard and good for Manhattan prices. Panna is the esthetician I have been going to primarily but I've had wonderful experiences with all the estheticians during the times Panna was not there. Nielam did a great job on my brows. I've been growing them out for a while but realized I couldn't pull off the thicker look I was hoping to. To my surprise, Nielam cleaned them up nicely and I was able to keep my brows nice and thick! I have been coming here for a while now and have had the amazing opportunity to meet Arti (one of the estheticians). She is super talented when it comes to shaping and maintaining my eyebrows. I recently went to her for a brazilian and it came as no surprise that I was more than pleased (despite the unavoidable pain). Although Arti is my go-to, I've had my eyebrows threaded by the other estheticians and they did a nice job too. I am always greeted with a smile and they have the awesome stamp-as-you-go card that'll give you your 7th threading as a reward for being loyal.
