Fantastic nails with amazing people - always happy and relax after doing my nail at Minty Nail !!!!

I started going to minty about 9 months ago and get a new gel mani and pedi every around 3 weeks. I really kept going because of the punch card incentive and that it wasn't a hectic experience. If you want a basic manicure, this is an easy place for walk ins. However, I'm really disappointed for the last time I went the color I picked on the nail board didn't match the actual color on my nails even after three coats. To add to it, a few days later my finger started to get red and swollen due to an infection from the technician knicking my skin around my cuticle. The cherry on top was that only a week later I have chipping on my gel nails and one is fully about to pop off. I think they need to spend more time on the maintenance part of the nails. I also get stressed every time I have the male technician because I always leave with bumps in my polish and thin nails from how hard he uses the drill. So if you go, definitely request a female technician ahead of time. Lastly, they do have a cat who roams around sometimes and will sniff around your stuff - just a heads up if you're allergic to cats. read more

Favorite salon in the city! Vivian is the best--she's quick and very attentive to detail. Always easy to get an appointment or just walk-in.

This is a great place for a clean basic mani and pedi. Wouldn't recommend for nail art. They sometimes have a cat roaming around which is kind of weird. read more

Minty nail salon is a below average nail place and does a very rushed job. I had and mentioned on the phone several times that I had a Pulsed certificate that I wanted to use for a gel manicure which they said was fine, I also mentioned it at the time to the person who was doing my pedicure. when I got up to pay they told me that my Pulsed certificate had expired and I needed to pay the full price which was $25 over what I had paid for my certificate and there was budging on their end! I paid which left me with a feeling of very bad customer service. Long story short Minty is not the place you wanna go. Over priced with subpar service. read more

I went here with my daughter a few months ago. It is a small salon and when we arrived they were attentive. We both left pleased with our pedicures. However this was the most uncomfortable pedicure ever hence the 3 stars. They have a bench as seating put cushions and I kept sliding I was happy it was over because I really couldn't enjoy it. This is my second time coming here, and I'm blown away by the service and good nature of the technicians. The owner of the salon does my nails, and he takes his time to make sure my nails are perfect. Sometimes, a color may be too opaque for my liking, and he'll immediately remove them and recommend a better polish. I am asked every time if I would like a beverage to drink, and the technicians are very kind and generous. The prices are definitely a bit more expensive than other salons in the area, but they work hard and never rush through a nail job. read more

Went here yesterday for a pedicure and the woman who tended to me sliced my toe open with the callus remover. Hurt and bled everywhere despite attempts to wrap with bandaids (cut was too deep; see gross photo). Right now I'm treating with anti infection meds and hoping it heals up on its own without going to the doctor, but unfortunately I have a trip to the beach tomorrow and I'm worried it's going to impact my trip (sand, ocean water, walking, all not good with an open wound on your foot). I get mistakes happen, but the worst thing is they still made me pay for the pedicure. I had to ask if I still have to pay given they sliced my toe off, and they only added on a 20% discount. If you injure a customer enough that they're bleeding everywhere then maybe you should eat the full $45 cost and it would have avoided me posting this review. Not a good business and won't be returning and warn anyone considering going as well. read more

This place sucks. Worst pedicure of my life. If I could give zero stars I would. The nail technician spent maybe 10 minutes on me. There were red nail polish smudges all around my toes, I still had tons of dead skin left on my feet, and the "massage" was 2 seconds of her rubbing lotion on my shin. When I went to dry my toes, the nail dryer was blowing insanely hot air on my feet. It was so hot that my feet were red and swollen after. I was so uncomfortable and they just kept saying "2 more minutes" instead of fixing it. I'm stunned this place is still standing. Save yourself $40 and go elsewhere. I'm never going back. read more

This place is a hidden gem in East Village!! It is so hard to find a nail salon that is willing to do designs and dip powder at a reasonable cost, that has not been flooded by influencers and is filled weeks in advanced. The staff here is so great and pays extra attention to detail. I have been coming here for over a year and no matter what design I ask for, I have never been told no, and they often make it look even better than the reference photo! I would trust anyone here, but Vivian pays extra attention to her work and always makes sure you're happy with the final product. I refuse to get my nails done anywhere else, 10/10!! read more

As someone who doesn't get enough mani/pedis to have a favorite/go-to person, I still leave this place with well manicured hands & feet. Everyone does a good job, and you can always ask them to fix a chip or imperfection...even a day or two later! I came back to Minty for a regular manicure yesterday with a friend of mine. The service overall was great! My manicurist was nice and she did a good job at cleaning my nails up and painting the color. Unfortunately, I feel like the quality of the nail polish I chose wasn't good. After two coats you can still see the point where my nail grows from and I noticed a chip on my thumb nail by the end of the day. It is now a day after getting my manicure and I already have two chips on my index finger and it looks like the edges are wearing out already. It doesn't look as glossy as it could be. Maybe I could have asked for a third coat but I was afraid it wouldn't dry through well. I guess I should have stuck to an Essie polish because my friend who used an Essie polish, hers looked a lot more opaque and she is telling me how she hasn't experience any chips yet. I would come back again as I do really like the service but I would probably go for a different brand such as RGB (+2$) Deborah(+2$) Essie, or OPI which they provide. read more

I went in yesterday in the middle of the day, a weekend, which I expected to be very busy. They told me to take a seat, and allowed me in. Originally I just wanted to get my gel nails removed, but decided to get a pedicure as well. The nail tech was kind but gave me an extremely rushed experience, which I'm sure was because there were multiple other people waiting for their services. The nail tech barely did anything to my feet, no cutting of cuticles, etc. Really just filed and painted. When I was drying my toes afterwards I ended up bumping one of them so another employee actually came over and was very kind to fix them. I waited 20 min under the drying fan, and then went to pay and left. When I got home I found the same nails that originally had been messed up looking horrible. I'm thinking it's the brand of polish they use, because typically 20 min under the drying is enough. Unfortunately this felt like a huge waste of money :( read more

I don't know where to even begin. I found Minty Nails while seeking a place that was good with nail designs and had an aesthetically pleasing establishment since I would be going to get my "Flirty 30" nails done. Mind you I am as plain as they come when it comes to nails, but I thought what the heck. While Minty Nails is convenient, reasonably priced, & very cute on the inside I have to say I question them. Here's why: I booked a reservation to receive nail extensions, gel polish, & 3 nail designs (marble nails specifically). The reservation was confirmed and I showed up to my appointment once again confirming they knew how to do that design technique (prior to beginning anything). I was informed it would not be 100% like the marbling in the image. Of course not I thought, it will look differemt every time. Long story short we got all the way to the design phase of the process and there my tech was (Mei) attempting to DRAW marbling on my nails. There I sat horrified thinking about the time and money that would be wasted in addition to how I would not have the nails I intended to have for my milestone birthday party. After 5 or 6 attempts at the process I explained to her that the technique is not drawn on. I showed her what I provided in my reservation, and the image that I showed her prior to starting the process again. To which she admitted their salon does not provide that design technique. They offered me many differemt designs, but you know how it is when you have something specific in mind not to mentio she ha already given me tips and painted all but 3 of my nails. I was left in a pretty sticky position I could have them take them off and waste even more of my time amd end up with absolutely nothing, or I could make the best out of am otherwise messed up situation. I felt bamboozled. Clearly someone knew that was not something they could provide prior to my sitting in the chair for an hour and a half to receive a very mediocre set of nail extension, with absolutely no attention to the hangnails that needed trimming on my nail beds on top of not receiving my intended design. As I cried looking through alternative designs I reluctantly selected gold flakes to accompany my white nails. But wait, I decided to make one more hail Mary request that would have been an exceptional alternative (being that my original design included a border nail on one of the marble nails), "Can you border this nail?" 3 minutes later another failed attempt at a very simple nail design technique. I had her remove it and just proceed with the topcoat. As I checked out they told me they would not charge me for the designs. Big whop. Again I either would need to remove the nails entirely amd find somewhere else or attempt myself. Or I could pay another nail salon. Either way the resolution was nowhere near fair or reasonable all things considered. The receptionist even had the nerve to offered me a rewards card!!! Needless to say I WONT BE GOING BACK. I gave 2 stars because even though they don't do very good work they do take their time, are open to constructive criticism (without an attitude), & seem to do great basic paint jobs on real nails. Maybe it will work out for you but if marble nails is what you seek BUYER BEWARE! read more

I've been coming to Minty consistently ever since they opened but I had a really bad experience here today that totally changed my opinion about this place. The salon used to be so cute but now it looks run down and frankly very dirty. There were stains on the walls and floor and there was a trash can left open and overflowing with used plastic gloves and candy wrappers in the middle of the salon. Next to the garbage was a bin of used communal flip flops and a huge box of plastic wrap on the ground, which I watched employee after employee step over to get to the break room without putting it away. For the entirety of my 40 minute manicure, there was an employee sleeping face down in a massage chair while the rest clustered around a table in the back watching tv on their phones. The grossest part was during my manicure, one employee went to the bathroom and came out while the toilet was still flushing, obviously skipping washing her hands. I think she saw my disgusted face because she went and washed them at the sink in the main salon space, which is still gross honestly. I was so disgusted and couldn't believe there were so many girls not with a customer and yet nobody took the time to take out the trash, sweep the floor or straighten up the chairs which were all over the place. To top it off, the manicure was subpar. She filed my nails unevenly and didn't fully paint them to the sides which is my pet peeve. Sad to say, but I will not be back. read more

Quick and what seemed like an efficient manicure... hours later and my nail polish is still messing up. My manicurist painted my nails so fast and SO thick. It's still "wet" and getting dented 3 hours after my manicure. I dented one nail after drying for 15 min... instead of redoing the one nail, my manicurist put on another layer if top coat--the WRONG top coat so it messed it up even They charged me an extra $4 for the type of Essie Polish too. Extremely frustrating. I am leaving for Europe tonight and wanted to get a nice manicure for my trip. $20 dollars later for a regular manicure... they have one less customer. read more

I've been to Minty a good handful of times now and despite a stellar first experience, every subsequent visit has been below my expectations. Minty is quick and easy although on weeknights it gets crowded fast. Everyone's nice for the most part. HOWEVER, I've rarely been satisfied with the manicures I've gotten from here. The first time I came they did a great job with a regular mani and polish and every time after, the polish would either be so sheer that I could see my nails through it or they were too rough on my cuticles resulting in them growing back poorly. The day after I got them done, the polish started peeling off and it looked so horrible I had to remove it. My friends white polish also turned a nasty off white color in a few days. I get my nails done every 3 weeks and am fairly picky about how I want mine to look. Moved to the city a few months ago and wanted to find a regular spot that was quality but also reasonably priced. Minty has given me such a great experience every time I go - particularly with dip manicures they are so deliberate about making the nails not too thick and a great shape. I will continue to come here as I love the service! Hard to write this down, but my experience last week was horrible. This was my second visit because I thought they did a great job with my nails the first time. Sadly, I was not with the same staff that day. Instead I was assigned to a new employee who I noticed from my pedi that the service was very blah. When we got to my hands, there were frayed skin after she had moved onto the next nail. It was an awkward experience for me as I had to mention this. She went back lightly touched up a few but the cuticles were not manicured like they had been at me initial visit so I had to point this out to her again. She then said something in Chinese and I asked what she was saying and she replied nothing. Even with several reattempts, she just wasn't able to manicure my nails/cuticles to a professional level and so I felt forced to bring it to the attention of the manager who then reassigned me to the staff who cared for me at my first visit. The staff who got switched started yelling in Chinese to me knowing I don't speak a word of it and she dashed into a back room. At the end, my nails and cuticles looked respectable as they had after my first visit, but the experience from my second left a sour taste in my mouth and I just have no desire to give it another try. read more

This salon is great! Got pedicures with my friend and we loved it. Great service that was quick and pretty affordable. However, they do charge extra for certain brands of nail polish. We got Essie polish so we didn't have to pay more. The classic pedicure was great, fast, and relaxing. They trim your nails and cuticles, add oil, scrub and soak them. They even use hot towels and massage your feet/legs with lotion. They do have a sign in the front that says to pay your tip with cash but we were able to pay and tip on our cards. There were walk ins after me, but one of the ladies named Vivian said they didn't have any availability until an hour later. She was very quiet, but nice and sweet. She took her time doing my nails and even though my thumb nails were shorter than the rest, she did a great job at making them look even and perfect! My previous gel manicure came right off. It was unlike anything I've ever experienced. Usually the nail techs need to scrape it off with brute force, but Kelly was very gentle. One of my nails was broken halfway, but she glued it back and I can't even tell which nail was broken to begin with! The only reason why I took a star off was because of the price. There was a chalkboard outside saying a classic mani/pedi was $28 and a gel mani was $30. I was charged $23 for a pedi and $30 for a gel mani ($55 total with tax). So, what they're saying is that they would've charged me $5 more for a regular manicure? My boyfriend just paid without question, but told me AFTER we left that he understood that Vivian was scolding Kelly in Mandarin about how she rang me up wrong, and said we smart enough to figure it out. If that was the case, why couldn't they just fix it and print out a new receipt for us with the correct pricing?! $55 isn't bad for a gel mani and pedi, but why try to hide a pricing error in another language?
