Cheap nail salon hidden in first avenue. I went there because it's close to where I live. I went for a gel mani and it was good. A lot of people go for the discounted mani's and pedi's M-W. Check this place out if you want a good mani for a cheap price. Giving it 4 stars because they do massage your shoulders (for 30seconds) and the nail tech just jabbed her nails in my back which was horrible. read more

A great neighborhood salon with affordable prices. It is a no frills type of place but the ladies that work here are super friendly and do a great job. My gel polish usually lasts 2-3 weeks. They have great weekday special prices as well. The standard pedicure does not do callus removal but I think that is standard. I appreciate the 30 second shoulder massage at the end of the manicure as well, may need to pay for a full massage one of these days. I will continue to go back to this place as it is very reliable and affordable. read more

I had a wonderful experience here! Amazing service at a hard to beat price. They give a free shoulder massage, and the standard pedicure included a hot stone massage. And my nails came out great and it was pretty quick! They also have Monday to Wednesday specials for many services, including a mani/pedi ($33). In my experience, most cheaper places don't have as great service, and most salons are more expensive, so I feel like I hit the jackpot with Sona! read more

I went to Sona Nail once or twice a few years back with my friend. I remember it being OK. I recently went back about a month ago for a regular manicure since I now live in the area. Unfortunately I did not have a good experience! The nail tech buffed my nails way too much and caused little dents in a few of my nails. My nails were also painted poorly and chipped that night. I saw my mom later that day and she asked me if I did my nails myself. They had a good selection of polish and it seemed clean, but overall I would not recommend. read more

I came to this nail salon because I couldn't make the trip to Brooklyn where I usually get my nails done with my co-worker. Unfortunately, I regret making the decision to go here.. It was a late afternoon and my nails were in NEED of a new gel set. When I walked in, it seemed like a nice promising spot to get my nails done near my place. I was obviously brought here by yelp and the review ratings, so I went ahead and gave it a try. There were only three workers, and I'm guessing it was the owner who had told me that I had to wait approximately 20 minutes, but I am most definitely sure I waited for more than that. After I was seated into the manicure section, I told them that my nails are real. When It comes to my nails and going to a nail salon, I'm extremely meticulous on how I specifically want my nails to look and how it needs to be done. My nails were long at this point since the last time I had them done, I was able to request to have them look like 'coffin nails', I asked my nail technician to make it look like the picture I showed her, not only did she do what I requested but she made it look thinner than its SUPPOSED to look like, she eventually made it into a rounded shape and not even flat at the end even after I asked her, she still continued to make it round for every damn nail. However, I did noticed that she was very careful when she was cleaning my nails and cutting my cuticles, etc - Wow, +1 for that! -____- Anyways, towards the end I asked if she could do a simple design, but all she told me was that they only do stickers.. like STICKERS that kids use to put on their nails, I thought this place would have their own kind of drawn acrylic design but apparently not. So I requested to have the gold line put on my ring finger, but she kept telling me that she put the top coat already. I'm pretty damn sure that before you even put the top coat or before finishing the entire procedure, you would kindly ask the customer if they want to do a design on their nails before finishing it off like how all the other nail salons I've been too. She attempted to add the gold lining onto my ring fingers, but she kept struggling and she eventually tried to glue it to make it stay on, but it still didn't attach to my nails, so she kept re-doing it and re-applying. Even though she got the design to stick onto my nails, she didn't manage to check on how she put it on or make it flatten, so when you run your finger onto the design, you could feel the bump which should've been flattened out before putting on the top coat AGAIN. Overall, I literally just wanted to get out of that nail salon because the more I stayed, the more I'm putting my nails at risk and having them ruined every minute. I MOST definitely am NOT recommending this place to any of my friends, anyone. Save your nails, save your money because $32 ain't worth it for terrible ass gel manicure & a weak design. I should've waited to go to Brooklyn just to get my nails done for only $20, gel manicure INCLUDED w/ a design.. Yeah. -_- And When I got home, I ended up just trimming my own nails and shaping them into how I wanted since the lady that did my nails completely fucked up the shape. Sorry not sorry. read more

The best in the hood! Hygiene: 5/5 Service/Staff: 5/5 I took away only 1 start because it's a small place with only 3 professionals so often times there is long wait or you can't get in the day you want. However, I once (on christmas eve) made a mistake of not waiting and going to another nails place down the avenue. Worst decision ever. The professional giving me a manicure basically took out a chuck while removing cuticles. I was bleeding and on the verge of tears. Tried this place out because it was close by. Had a good experience and would go back if I needed to. It was a Thursday around 6 pm and I just walked-in for a manicure. Not crowded - one guy was getting a chair massage and one girl was at the drying station. During my visit, only one girl walked in for a manicure, so it seems as though they are able to accommodate walk-ins pretty easily. They helped me pick out a polish color and seated me right away. Pretty typical manicure experience, but no frills. The hand massage was decent and strong, which I like. The polish (they have OPI and Essie) stayed on a long time, no chips, no problems. The manicurist asked if I wanted my cuticles cut, which is nice because most salons will just automatically do it. At the drying station, the manicurist gave me a one-minute back massage, which was really great. They also have guava-flavored candy to sample. For $9.50 and no problems, it's worth going to if you need somewhere quick and convenient. They also have a loyalty card. After 9 visits you get one free basic manicure. read more

During my manicure, I had to advise the nail technician how to paint my nails since she kept missing parts of the nails and didn't do full coats. After 1 day of having the polish on my nails, my nails were completely chipped. After 4 days of having the polish on, I took it off and did my nails myself and did a better job than the technician. My nails look terrible... They chipped pretty much immediately, there was nail polish all over my skin around my nails, they didn't even ask how I wanted my nails shaped... they just had at it. It's very small inside, hard to even get around. Felt like I was sitting on top of the woman next to me. The only positive to this place is that you get a 5 second back massage at the end. Never going back here. It's close to where I live but I'd rather walk 10 blocks to go to somewhere better. Not worth the money. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Sona Nails last weekend. We had a lovely experience up until our bill was handed to us at twice of what was advertised on the wall next to us. We were told that we must additionally receive a manicure for the lower price to be honored. I reiterate, they wanted us to have more services in order for the lower price to be honored. We ended up just paying so we could get out of that place, the two women who worked with us seemed embarrassed by the situation. I came here during the afternoon after having made an appointment. The place is tiny but cozy and has OPI and Essie. I just wanted a nice, clean manicure. How hard can that be? Unfortunately the great Yelp reviews didn't reflect my experience here. My manicure lasted Two Days before it started chipping. I don't think I have ever had a manicure last for such a small amount of time and the manicure wasn't cheap, it was $10.50. I've had $7 manicures that lasted longer.
